Please just bear in mind that multiplayer can be very buggy with story missions, and for the early game in particular.
It's widely recommended to avoid multiplayer for story missions entirely, and wait til after you reach the anomaly in general

Yeah, once you reach the anomaly it's a bit safer in general.
But story missions are not good for MP at all
