i asked the same thing on the first time I did Starbirth and was told it didnt work. You must first complete starbirth once and then after that you can restart for other living ships with more void eggs.

But there was a crashed ship there already, maybe thats why it didnt work

Make sure that the crash site isn't scanned and only comes up with unknown building, then restart the mission about 500 units away.

@regal shale At space stations one of the vendors lets you add slots. You can choose storage slot or multitool slot. Hop stations if yuo have the cash for them and buy the slots for multitool.

I upgraded my storage every time. I didn't know until 20 hours in that I could have been adding more multi tool slots :/
