Glyphs are always unlocked in the same order. If game lore interests you, progress through the main questline to learn them for free. Excluding that, you may also obtain glyphs from Traveler graves.

Just a word of caution; as a new player working through the main quests, it's generally best to turn off multiplayer while working through those, as quests can get stuck/unable to progress in multiplayer.

Pretty sure you can't trade either of those. The jetpack trails are not installed tech, but are selected from the Appearance Modifier, and the ship trails tech pieces can't be transferred to another player, even after uninstalling & storing in your inventory (just tried it).
