If you don't already have an S-rank freighter, and you still have a long way to go to get all S rank technology upgrades for your freighter, a good rule of thumb is 5 of each of Combat, Exploration, Industrial and Trade, plus however many support you may want.
Once you have both S-rank freighter and all s rank technology, it literally does not matter because it comes trivial to max out all 4 stats (combat, exploration, industrial and trade) on any expedition, even when using exclusively support frigates (these have the lowest total stats across all frigate types)

Try setting your flight control to locked instead of tethered maybe?
You can go to any of those systems, you have to unlock the camera

I noticed i can use resources stored in my ship inventory whenever something calls for them, anyone know what yhe biggest ship inventory you can used for this purpose is?

Also, after taking a closer look, you may need to actually aim your targeting reticule at the ship itself so that it turns red, simply being on the screen isn't enough for the game to lead it

Living ship, Sentinel, Haulers and Corvettes have a max capacity of 120 at S rank
I use hold, not toggle, so whenever its in my screen, I let go of S and move my mouse to target it, I personally never used toggle

Corvette and freighters can have storage containers built on them yes, but only freighter allows "remote" access to those containers, if you want to withdraw items from those containers on a corvette, you must interact with the containers directly.
Freighters, if you have the matter beam upgrade installed, need only to be in the same start system as you to remote access those containers
On foot or in space?

You could dig a hole and cover it back up and wait for them to stop searching

If you want to buy a frigate with higher initial stats and higher skills, do it. It really doesn't matter in any short term.

Picking frigates are the same as picking fresh workers.
You pick the ones that have promising backgrounds (very low fuel use) and next to zero experience (1-3 expeditions).
Experienced ones (that are upgraded) likely have bad habits (negative stats), hidden bad habits (erased negative stats), or wrong experience (mismatched skill).

All frigates have max levels. And high expedition count means they have less exp to earn.
Which is bad because when you raise frigates, they don't get negative traits.

Ever since a certain update that reworked how freighter initial inventories work, yes. They used to have different inventory ranges that weren't upgradeable, but now they all have identical inventory ranges and all freighters have the same max upgraded slot counts per their class

They occur when you warp into the system, and only after a cooldown since your last one you encountered #nms-questions message (outside of specific circumstances like your first ever one)
Whats the rarest starship in nms btw
Exotic ships are a 1 in 301 chance to spawn in place of any flying or crashed ship spawn, those alone are kinda rare but they're separated into two types: Royal and Squid, with Squid ones being 1/20 of all of them
So squid exotic ships are usually what people consider the rarest general kind of ship just cuz of that, but there are some variations of other ships that are alone somewhat uncommon or rare, like shielded hauler cargo spheres

Rare variants of some creatures and rare creature types themselves, yes. There's a special version of flying worms, and a "beetle" version of spiders that is rare alone but even rarer to have mushrooms on it's head of varying sizes. Also a rare variant of T-Rexes which has no arms and a weird head thing. It's also kiiinda rare to find a Blob that's just the default one with no special parts on it.

all ship types have some buff to different aspects of the ship, Fighter damage, Explorer travel distance i think, etc.
You get the parts by buying a ship you like a part of and dismantling them at space stations

Each system has a set 21 ship designs, 3 fighters, 3 explorers, 3 haulers, 4 extra of the former based on dominant race (Vy'keen = fighter, Korvax = explorer, Gek = hauler), 7 shuttles and one very rare exotic ship design. Solar ships replace 10% of shuttles in normal systems and 85% of shuttles in outlaw systems as well as 10% of fighters/explorers/haulers in outlaw
Because we spent many many hours grinding for illegal ones that have stats better than S, and tbh it isn't worth it

bases can make the ship spawn on a nearby landing pad due to a bug, then take off and fly away. You can save and reload to make it appear again, but this issue may repeat until you report the base so it goes away

corvettes have a bug where the extra phase beam modules built on the ship multiply the overall damage, due to firing their own sets of beams
with other weapons they just rotate between firing, but with phase beam they all fire at once
and due to them not thinking about that when making the 2-beam firing version for regular ships back in like 2017, the extra ones do their own damage
when they patch it
this will probably be fixed eventually, but for now it's easily the best weapon for corvettes due to this

Supercharging the upgrades for things is better in most cases, basically all except weapons
and what you want to supercharge depends on what technology you wish to prioritize
i see some videos on youtube that are like 15 minutes long talking about adjacency and all the math that goes into slot placement. is a good rule of thumb just to put upgrades and such adjacent to the technology and supercharge the upgrades for things (besides guns)
basically just supercharge the stuff you want, then focus on adjacency, maximizing how many sides the good stuff is adjacent on

doesn't matter, just make sure to teleport back to the expedition path

i usually build one power distribution building so that whenever i have to edit the base that building can stay unchanged and i just have to re-wire the power distro to the new base
at least 3 hours since the last battle, as well as at least 5 warps since the last battle
not just "3 hours"
but since you haven't had a battle yet, the cooldown's technically already up and one is guaranteed to occur on your next starship warp I believe

You would have to spawn it the same way though, encountering it via a battle in that system. Some players have documented systems that ignore the regular cooldown though (if qualified for pirate dread events to occur) so those help a lot. If it's a fighter, hauler, explorer, shuttle, exotic or solar ship, then you will eventually find it in that system piloted by an NPC landing at a trade outpost, freighter or the space station
If it's a Sentinel ship, go to any sentinel interceptor crash site to find that design
Specific crash sites can help get a specific class, in case the documenter finds one, but not all ships in a system's pool are used for crashed ships

Pretty sure dissonant planets is where you’d find crashed sentinels. Find the thing you mine that drops inverted mirrors or echo locators, then once you get an echo locator use it to find the camp. Then go to the terminal and locate dissonant spikes

The same way you're doing. Populated, dissonant systems where the dissonant planet does not have gold or rusted metal as a resource, then look for the interceptor model in that system. If it's not to your liking, move on and try again.

A value calculated by the game using multiple variables, including damage innate bonus. It's not a damage ceiling, and it's not how much damage any installed weapon system will do either.
Current tech inventory also factors in, albeit differently depending if multi-tool or starship.
- On multi-tool, only the strongest weapon system installed is included;
- On starship, all installed weapon systems are included.

planets are in systems -- these are what the glyphs lead to
to get to another galaxy, you need to go the centre of the current one -- there is a fast method for doing this
BUT also in the anomaly, you can get to Eissentam from the teleporter in there
by going to a featured base set in eissentam
