iirc yeah, like, you can only increase e.g. combat so much - there's a max to what it will allow you to put mutation points into combat

not sure, but i dont think so - iirc when we max a pet we can replace its abilities, but i havent seen anywhere saying that we can reset genetic profile points attribution

Hi! I'm trying to get an S class voltaic Staff and i currently have 3 heads, doing the primary secondary mode to obtain it
sorry i missed this; i dont know if it's possible to go over 10 points in either combat, health or agility, it seems not.
The question is, sometimes i get VERY random values, specially with the damage

Damage is based on the weapons it has installed on it, which makes it very painful to compare staves

You can do a trick in the synthesis station to obtain infinite voltaic staff classes
Because some weapons contribute a lot more to the damage stat on the MT weapon than others

You basically put a head, enter the preview, exit (without exiting the menu), put another head, preview, exit the preview, and return to the original
It's not just colors, the actual staff stats itself changes when you do that
And you onlock a secondary class for every head
And then if you dont like you move and repeat this to infinity as secondary class changes everytime

Weapons contribute heavily towards damage, and different weapons have very different behaviours, for example, my neutron cannon tool has damage potential of 200k, but my boltcaster tool cant clear 40k, but they don't kill sentinels very differently from each other

translators translate on the fly words npcs say in dialogs - but they dont teach words they translaste, so eventually by learning enough words they'll loose their usefulness. iow, it's probably not going to be tech you need to keep installed forever (artemis translator can be dismantled after its quest stage is done)

well it is due to the fact that every class upgraded gear rolls its innate stats and supercharged slot positions off its seed, not just ships

No, the initial stat of the ship depend on the crash site, this is why naturally occuring s ranks have different stats than if they upgrade into S, but if you had multiple sentinel ships came from the same star, and you upgrade them all to S rank, they will all upgrade to the same stats, regardless of what stat they may initially have

This is true for fabricated ships yes. For sentinel ships, the determinijg factor is the star
So sentinel ships from different stars upgrade to different stats
But the bottom line is that high rolled stat at a lower rank is not a guarantee of higher stat at a higher rank, AFAIK they don't simple scale up, but it's calculated again based on the seed of the weapon
And of course, the elephant in the room is the SC layout
A higher stat is no real substitute for worse SC layout unless that is your actual goal to spread your SC slots around different weapons

there's deeper layers of complexity to mt class upgrading, and how the game does things, i'm no expert, but afaik this hasnt changed and it may be helpful - if obtained in outlaw systems, every non-sentinel and non-royal will upgrade to lower end of s-class

no, this is only when it comes to class upgrades. ships arent affected, and about freighter rolling in outlaw has a much higher degree of variability, but it is possible to get a s-class 34+20 max innate bonuses on outlaw - ymmv, but it can take a lot more s-class drops i.e. attempts to get it

I think it's to counteract the fact that pirate has the highest chance of natural s, but yes, it's a very odd mechanic

hello..trying to complete zooology milestone for the atlas path mission. Landed on moon with no fauna or flora. scanned as many minerals as i could but its not telling me how many i need to find. uploaded what i have but still no joy. help plz?
zoology only counts fauna, so planets without fauna wont work. and dont forget, you also need to press the additional nanite bonus reward button for it to count to zoology journey milestone
@vestal jewel planets with gold on the resource list, more common red star systems, often only have 1 fauna species

add more, you can see how much you using and how much you storing to know if you need more or already have access power stored
in short, power used/needed vs power available/generated; need to build another biofuel reactor (could do it outside, and then wire it to the prefab room; prefab room itself also needs power, and it provides power to things built inside it (or in another prefab room, connected to this one). you'll want to move to solar panels+batteries or even power hotspots eventually.
Does anyone know how to remove the dirt from our bases? It keeps growing back, but I don't know how to get rid of it, especially since there are platforms and the dirt keeps coming back up.
maybe the wifi network switch is connected to doesn't have internet? perhaps just an issue with nintendo/hg servers?
personally, i'd strongly recommend to build on foundations instead of trying to flattening the ground/deleting ground objects, as they'll most likely regenerate sooner or later

Can you tell me how to efficiently find a rare underground creature ? It’s really hard to track down, and I’m looking for ways to make the process less tedious.
I personally don't bother with that planet if I see an underground creature on the fauna list, I just move to the next planet
There's no easy way to find rare creatures other than to be in their areas and wait.

There is an exact measurement for what you need based on how much you're using. Your panels are generating enough for now because it's daytime, but do you have enough batteries for the night? Are you supplying enough to recharge those batteries? That is why I asked about power draw...

i got like 4 batteries
109 used, so you need 6 panels + 3 batteries
2 panels + 1 battery for every 50 kP, round up to the next 50
The fact that you're only running 5 panels means you will not be generating enough excess power for the nighttime. You'll run out before the panels come back online
Fix each part, or get another ship and get to an outlaw station (or several) and get repair kits
Will be available at your freighter, after you resummon it

Can't summon a ship?
If you don't have a freighter or have more than 6 active ships, go to a base on a planet, and save+reload restore point. A quick way to update restore point is to enter+exit ship/seat.
You should now be able to quick menu/summon any of your ships, regardless of its condition.
This is a failsafe added by the devs to ensure players never lose ships in their collection.

You don't need to do anything, you can se how long the plants have left by using a visor to examine it
some plants take 1 hour, some take 2, some take 16h
Yes, if you are minmaxing your hyperdrive having them all is key, I use my corvette as my system hopper. Though my freighter was bugged and caused my game to crash and I fixed it so I might just use that again.

Aim your analysis visor at them, it will show how much longer the grow time is. Frostwort grows in 1 hour, everything else is between 2 and 16 hours
you can even build them indoors and they still work

Each hazard can have 3 upgrade modules from space stations
The batteries will deplete in sequence
So if you have 3, and you are in the hazard, the first will drain, then when that is fully drained, the second, and then the third

Very new player here, but was able to scrounge up enought o make my corvette at long last. It's utterly basic, but it gave me a mission to build a mission terminal inside. I did that and then I got a mission to find salvagable scrap.... I warped around until I found a system that has a planet with it, but now my corvette mission is just gone... no further instructions.

They should let us replay expeditions that happened in the past so we can get these rewards again
No, it just disappeared. It used to be on the second page of my secondary missions under Log.
You will be able to replay expedition 21 at the end of the year, or if you're on PC #nms-modding has a way to replay them
Will I get in trouble for using mods like that and do they work with online?
It could have been triggered as completed if you had excavated any scrap before
I definitely haven't... I don't even know what it wanted me to do... It was telling me to find a planet with the modifier, and I just scanned one, and went to see what to do next, and the missions is missing...

You can play old expeditions offline. There is no penalty or problem doing so, and it unlocks the items on all saves on your account iirc. https://cwmonkey.github.io/nms-expeditions/
Generates SEASON_DATA_CACHE.JSON files so you can customize and play No Man's Sky expeditions and earn their rewards offline anytime.
Not on consoles tho
You have to put Steam into Offline mode to rerun expeditions, but there's no harm in doing so. You can also use a save editor to unlock the expedition rewards (even on console, provided you also own the game on a PC platform)
Question if I remove the mod after I’ve done all the expeditions can I go back into online and retain all the rewards?
it's not really a mod, it is just the "season" file that is modified to flag the chosen expedition as currently active. Once you let NMS back online, it will update to the current season file. You keep the rewards.

There are more than 2.2 trillion star systems in Euclid. Nowhere near most has been discovered. Likely still single digit percentage discovered

They have both. You need to go far enough away from that gas hotspot to find Nitrogen.
Though both of my bases for Nitrogen are on Lush planets, so try that maybe.
Lush, Toxic, Swamp, and Blue biome planets all have nitrogen

You can not recruit a living frigate if your fleet already has 30 frigates.
You can only recruit a living frigate once per system.
With Dream Aerial (Required for your first)
To obtain your first organic frigate, send out fleet expeditions until you receive a blueprint for the Dream Aerial. Craft the Dream Aerial (1 Solar Mirror and 3 Living Glass) and pulse drive in space with your ship. You will get an encounter with an organic frigate that asks many questions to determine the stats of the frigate. After you finish the questions, claim the living frigate.
Using the Dream Aerial randomizes class, which is otherwise fixed per system. The Dream Aerial is only used this first time, don't hold on to it: delete it or give it to another player that needs one.

With Anomaly Detectors
After acquiring your first organic frigate, you may now use Anomaly Detectors to acquire more. These are rare drops from blowing up asteroids.
Activate pulse drive (as stated above, use an Anomaly detector before doing so). Keep your pulse drive fueled as this may take some time depending on the system. While pulsing you may see alerts for rare objects or traders, ignore them. The Anomaly detector will be consumed if you exit pulse. Continue pulsing until you receive a Whalesong signal to discover a living frigate with these price ranges:
C-Class: 7,500,000 - 12,500,000 units.
B-Class: 15,000,000 - 25,000,000 units.
A-Class: 26,250,000 - 43,750,000 units.
S-Class: 37,500,000 - 62,500,000 units.
Known Issues:
- If you have a void egg in any of your inventories, its space encounter will keep spamming you, and can prevent you from getting the Whalesong signal encounter. To workaround this bug, retrieve the egg and store it in your suit, then go to space, pulse until hailed by the alien mothership, and select Hatch on the dialog. Ignore the Starbirth mission marker, you can now select any different mission, and return to using anomaly detectors.
- If you begin to notice any odd graphical glitches, stop and pulse in the opposite direction.

Additional Info
Feeding food to an organic frigate (freighter fleet management terminal > click on an organic frigate), will change its stats. Anything you feed a specific frigate should always reproduce that same result.
For example:
Feeding your frigate item A yields one result. Feeding it item B yields another. If you feed it item A again, it will be the same result you got the first time you fed it item A.

Can't summon a ship?
If you don't have a freighter or have more than 6 active ships, go to a base on a planet, and save+reload restore point. A quick way to update restore point is to enter+exit ship/seat.
You should now be able to quick menu/summon any of your ships, regardless of its condition.
This is a failsafe added by the devs to ensure players never lose ships in their collection.

I have done all but it doesnt let me proceed with the mission. Whenever i interact with the korvax cartographer, it just gives me the normal dialoge. I have tried restarting the game, rejoining, reentering the space station, switching missions, bascially all i could think of. Am i doing something wrong?
It's a specific cartographer. They're in a marked system no more than 100 ly from where you got the mission

The quest will mark a specific system's station for you, and there will be an NPC standing around there who has a unique dialogue when you speak to them.

Will be no more than 100 ly from where you got the mission
If it's the entrance to the space station that is marked, and the NPC inside doesn't get marked, save+reload inside the space station

Unfortunately, the mining laser is designed for mining. It won't be as good as a dedicated weapon for combat purposes.
So it seems the best thing if you want your minotaur to help in combat is just unisnstall everything but the cannon

odd, try to save+reload perhaps? if still not accepting it, then try any of the RGB (red/green/blue) biomes (would suggest typing !faq-biomes in #nms-commands for more infos, but in short, you'll want to visit red/green/blue star systems (or purple, if you got them unlocked) and look for the planets that only have 3 resources on the resource list, but the list cannot have gold, rusted metal, pyrite or basalt)
Just when you get to the next galaxy, do NOT use an interceptor, I literally spent 2 hours gathering stuff that I never thought I needed 😭

If you travel to a new galaxy only damages your tech but you can store the tech
fwiw: they used to, but have long since been patched not to. portals (not teleporters) and relic gate (space encounter) also won't. like Tyndall said, only core warping and completing main story a certain way can inflict damage (additionally, options/difficulty can influence the tech damage taken for example from combat)

Yes, all multitool, ship and exo suit will be damaged, as you go on through the last part of the main story, make sure you store as many tech as you can and prepare throw away ship and multitool

Any expedition type thing coming for Xeno Arena?
I can't find sentinels. I got to a malicious planet and I flew for long to find any structure. then i used a signal booster to locate anything, and then i tried to break plants and rocks with the laser and kill animals with it to bring the sentinels here but nothing hAppens
I wonder if the Xeno Arena works on Switch 1.

if planet has aggressive sentinels on the resource list, i'd suggest landing, using visor to find 2 star yellow icons for gravitino ball, loot one, let them come.

guys did i hit the jackpot? i found a reliquary planet. then found a settlement on it that has a huge trading post not even 100 yards from the overseers house.
yeah, use analysis visor (if you cant really see any icons that you should be seeing, like buried tech modules - just switch to target sweep visor mode and then back again to "base" visor mode). pick a direction like NSEW, and stick with it for a bit. they can be seen from the air, when flying low and slow, but visibility might vary. personally i prefer relying on visor, if you got a corvette you could possibly make use of autopilot while flying inside atmosphere closer to the ground, in order to exit seat and use visor from the ship.
@hallow swallow alternatively, just get a secure chart and pop it - goto the building it marks, start shooting the sentinels there
could also use exocraft radar techs to find depots for example

yeah, something you can also apply to farming salvageable scrap for example (and in that case, you can mark the icon with visor, get back in seat, and then shoot the ground near the marked hud icon to get the scrap)
yeah, only corvette can use autopilot/lets you walk around the ship
how many ships i am allowed to have ? including the corvettes ? i have 2 corvettes and i want to add a 3rd

You can look at !faq-artemispath in #nms-commands for a list of the primary mission titles
using a secure chart is a really easy way to get in a combat scenario too (all you need is 1 nav data, exchange for specific charts at the station cartographer)

days that you play the game but don't do the QS mission will store that QS mission, up to 3 stored + today's, so 4 in a row in total
