you can have 6 multi tools with you at all times, and you can get a weapon shelf to archive up to 18 multitools (however if its archived you cant use it until you go and pick it out of there)

and you can change between multitools in the quick menu (utilities)

I don't think this qualifies as a black hole scope, but it is spherical. Slight differences in the body around the trigger, but overall quite similar in shape. Decent supercharged slots. I use it as my non-staff MT:

depending on the terminal you use and the head you get the class and colors, for example a certain head might give you a C tier but another has a A, and from what i understand about the colors it depends on the place

so its just having to look around for terminals that give you an S on the head you want to use (you can look up people who have documented it)

Hello everyone, are there any upgrades for my multitool that I can stack more than three times?

Three is the maximum regardless of what module you use but you can install proc modules as well as blueprint modules.

Proc modules (procedural modules are modules you buy and then Install for random stats of a type of tech) these can stack up to 3, you can then add blueprint modules (any module installable from a purchased/unlocked blueprint) of that same tool type.

Some tech types have more than one module that could be used to upgrade it. For instance the boltcaster can have both 3 boltcaster modules (C - X) and the forbidden (?) module as well as blueprint modules like the ricochet, barrel ioniser and with a save editor boltcaster SM.

All good in relevant channels there is an image pinned that you can use to tell what modules fit for what tech and the maximum for that tech type.

The image is mainly used to assist players in what the ideal Adjacency bonus and supercharge layout is but you can use it for all in this instance.

you'd basically be looking at using a save editor to see those values. alternatively, to more or less compare the two, strip them both down to base core techs (that actually can do damage), since sentinel has hijacked laser instead of mining beam, to make it easier to work with the damage potential value, which on multi-tools combines damage innate bonus and the strongest weapon tech installed; mining beam/hijacked laser are themselves damage techs - you'd also want to install boltcaster tech on both tools, make sure nothing is supercharged, then compare damage potential, and you'll have a pretty good idea of which one has the strongest innate bonus.

you'll find that it will become a lot more about gameplay feeling preference, from player to player - once you start stacking upgrade modules till the limit (and boltcaster is the only weapon that benefits from sentinel aka forbidden weapon modules), you'll see that pretty much anything already melts enemies in seconds, pretty much regardless of what tool you got. a pistol with a great SC slot layout at s-class will melt stuff almost as fast as a sentinel at s-class. and we're not even factoring in combos like paralysis mortar+voltaic amplifier+<whatever primary you like to use>.

To get a staff you need to complete the main quest "Awakenings", after that you need to find an echo locator on a dissonant planet, when you do it will give you the cords to a harmonic base; when you get there walk to the terminal and do the simple puzzle. After that you need to unlock the harmonic seal which will allow you to acquire a sentinel multi-tool. Once you leave the system and warp to another you'll get a message after you pulse around which will initiate the autophage questline and after completing a couple missions of that you'll be able to find autophage terminals which will allow you to craft staffs. To find and Atalantid (Atlas) multi tool you need to be like halfway through the autophage questline, then find a korvax system and pick a planet to find a monolith, after finding the monolith you need to do the discordant interface and fill it with the purple stuff, afterwards you'll see the weapon for that planet; if you don't like that model place down a save beacon , fly to another planet then make a restore point and reload, fly back to the monolith after and the model should be changed. The easiest to find is an exotic/experimental multi-tool which can be found in a high value, high conflict system. You just need to search the space station.

I’d suggest looking more at your modules stats as apposed to the base stats of a multitool, the difference between the low and high end of base stats is very small and won’t make that much gameplay difference, whereas looking for higher stat modules (S or X) will yield you a better outcome.

You can store up to 6 multitools on your person and 18 in cold storage at a multitool rack (buildable base item) when you go to claim or purchase a new tool just hit claim or buy, not exchange or swap, you can then access your other multitools by going to your quick menu and selecting utilities then swap multitool.

I’m more pointing out that you would be better to focus on the modules you buy (that being say upgrade modules for your pulse spitter) than a staff or any tool with a slightly higher damage potential over another tool.

The difference in core stats on a tool is negligible, but the difference in stat range on modules is quite high.

You can view the highest stat range that you might want to look for if you go into catalog and guide > technology > and then select multitool or whatever you want to view > locate the module type you want to view the stats on, this will display the highest stat roll on that module type and class.

if its a pirate system it wont have all the slots open on an s class multitool, same for regular tools. people would also often ask me where the 4 SC slots were in my finds if you couldnt see all 4 on the top 3 rows, so instead of waiting to be asked, these days i will often just go to the space station and unlock them and superimpose that over the slot layout as it was in the s class location. was just easier than always answering " no idea where all the sc slots are" on my finds.

Correct for the first part, I’m not sure where the “less slots in outlaw” is coming from, might be getting confused with S class freighters having lower stats and less slots?

Either way system economy doesn’t dictate the placement of SC slots, an outlaw system can have all 4 SC slots on a S class in view if rolled.

An s class tool in a regular system has all the slots available for the weapon size open when you find it. In a pirate system, not all slots are open on an s class multitool , because in reality, they are really just c class tools with an s class badge on them

When pirate systems first came out we were confused when we started finding s class tools without all the slots open and thought HG had stuffed up , over time we realised it was intentional, along with thr fact in pirate systems u can find tools in c class right tnru to s class but in regular systems u wont see a tool thats c class if it's s class also somewhere

Not entirely true tho, S class is more likely to have the higher range of available slots (30) yes, but that doesn’t mean it will always be 30 if it’s S.

On this note just because an S class tool is present in the system doesn’t mean there is no C class, from about 5min of searching a system with an S class in its pool a C class appeared in a minor settlement cabinet.

I did some preliminary testing prior to coming back, In the limited testing I can see a visible difference between an S class tool in an Outlaw system Vs a Regulated which supports them having less slots akin to how freighters function in outlaw, but if this is the case S tools would have the chance to have that same higher range (30) but just at a lower chance. (S class tools in OS are not just “C with a S badge”)

as far as i know, in a regular non pirate system, an s class rifle will always have the full 30 top slots unlocked, and in a pirate system, the s class will never have the top 30 slots open for a rifle. i should of specified i was talking about rifles. pistols will always have max sized slots open for pistols for an s class in a non pirate system, and vice versa for a pirate system.
i wasnt implying an s class in a system means no c class tools at all. they are fricken everywhere. what i was saying was in a pirate system, the tool you find in s class will also be found in a, b, and c class, all other tools will be c class only. in a non pirate regular system, u wont find a tool that is s class as well as c class for the same multitool. MTs can move up and down one tier, so if its c class natrually, it will only be a B class at best. If its B class natural, it can slide up or down to A or C class, so if its A class, it can be S or B class, but never C.

I'll go step by step for you

1. Complete Artemis Path or Main Story (Main Story for lore accuracy if you care about that)

2. Complete Autophage Introduction

3. Go to any Korvax System

4. Search planets for Alien Structures with an ExoCraft

5. Go to the structure, there should be a purple pillar that pops up when you get close to it. I recommend answering the Korvax Pillars questions first before, because once you put the power sources into the purple pillar the entire thing changes. Then interact with the purple pillar again and there you go!

X class purple mods are bought from pirate stations. In your galaxy map any galaxy with a skull on it is a pirate system

These are called Atlantid tools. You can only find them by completing (I believe) the main story line. After the purge I think, I can not check my phone at the moment to give a full description of what missions need to be completed exactly. The Glyphs on the right side pic with the galaxy name in the bottom left corner of the glyphs provide the coordinates needed for that location. You need to enter these glyphs at a womhole portal you find on planets all over the galaxy. Also, you will need to progress into the story line.

In general it is a hit and miss,
I have got Class-X that is way superior than any Class-S I have tried, also Class-X that isn't better than a Class-C 🤣
My Class-B rifle with Class-X mining laser was taking forever to heat and mine fast asf, taking two resonator at once?? No problems
I got all Class-S now and see no difference at all if not slower a tiny bit.

Left has a weapon right doesn't, so left shows higher damage number. Right is likely just better anyway. It's a fair exchange, just remember to take off any mods you want to keep to be able to put it on the other when you exchange

You are at the very start and just starting to make money, I would say go to a Dissonant Planet to find a Harmonic Camp, the free gun you get will be better than yours and you don't have to spend anything on it.
You just need to kill an Echo resonator and one Inverted Mirror, get close to them to see what it says and then move 150u away to take it down.
Save the money, you can get techs here and there for free

Those, at 150u away from them, the sentinels won't "see you" taking it down.
You just wanna access to the Harmanic Camp to get the free weapong, its mining laser and all is the best you can get at the start for free
You have to jump to a Dissonant system and fint the planet
