It depends on your fleet star lvl compared to the mission star lvl. Iirc if fleet is 2 stars over the mission you can’t be damaged

Yes, and you can change their stats by feeding them Traveller food, but more importantly when they're included on Expeditions they get resources only Organic Frigates can find.
They have potential to have better stats, but organic frigates are a hard requirement for upgrading the cargo of living ships, plus just a convenient source of living ship techs

When you engage in a freighter fight, you can just leave the pilot seat of your corvette, go out the back hatch and aim your visor at the dreadnought to see it's class

The way I did it was to label every envoy that had them as their stock and check them once every few days

Loot crashed freighters and max out your space station Envoy stuff. One of them offers free modules. Then you just visit every system near that one and pick up your freebies.

How do I find my frigate inventory and rename them?
Renaming them, it's a matter of checking your fleet, go into the frigate you want to change name, and click on the pencil icon
For inventory, you have to teleport to the frigate (there is a button for it) and interact with one of the terminals there
go to the upgrade control panel in your freighter and unlock the storage room blueprints and build the storage rooms, once built you can go to the control panel in the storage room and rename it to whatever

They work exactly like the anomaly upgrades, just the source of the item and where you unlock them are different
each upgrade costs a certain quantity of them
not nearly as much as what you learn in the anomaly
(In the sense that Salvaged Data ~ Salvaged Frigate Modules)

yeah its expensive per one, but you only have like 2 pages of upgrades as opposed to the anomaly you got like 1000 things to learn ranging from the price of 1-20 salvage
granted if you do the story it teaches you many of the blueprints to cut the cost of salvage
It depends on what stage of the game you're at. I normally try looking for a lush planet, but they can be hard to find early game. Also make sure that your planet has mild weather... 😅

Yeah, you'll have more luck in a lush galaxy tho. I believe the first one is Eissentam

yes eissentam will dramatically increase your chances of finding lush planets
A class magnetic hotspots will also work for almost all of your base needs
Ah, I think the G and F ones do give you the highest chance regardless of galaxy but it might take a while. Not sure about the numbers though

nope you manually aim though combat scope may help a tiny tiny bit
it doesnt zoom in that great but its better than normal aiming
The little animation that each of the weapons have when you lock on to a target have helped me a bit as well
i tap in burst when using the pulse spitter and it sometimes removes the recoild and fires in a straight line, other times it shoots with a wider spray pattern

Yeah, but multiplayer doesn't save location, so going back into singleplayer will still get you stuck

No, you need to get a freighter in the systems with the dominant species

Nope, the tech unlocks follow you, not the freighter
learned tech and bluebrints will stay learned but if you add slots you cant remove those slots
you can remove tech you install before you trade the freighter in so you can put it on your new one

is there a solution to calling a ship with aqua jets? I get this all the time and it's quite annoying, sometimes it works but most of the times I can't call the ship, there's no waves, no storm, just a flat sea but still getting "can't land here"

i usually get this when the planet it not loading, and you have nothing under the water but abyss. Ships can only land on water only when there is a surface underneath somewhere
well the bottom is ~150-200u under, but I did land there and went exploring with the nautilon, I just got away from the ship and can't call it now, had to drive back which was pretty far away
luckily I didn't pick up any ships, otherwise I'd be doomed

I have 25 supports, I care little for their exact stats as even the worst support frigates rolls won't stop me reaching the 150 stap cap across all 4 stats with any 5 frigates
in that case, if you have less than 27 frigates get it, but replace it soon with a "better" C class. I keep about 3 slots free out of 30 so i can buy more as i go.

always hire up to 30 then as they level dismiss 2 to 3 of the worst to keep some slots open for impulse purchases if you see a good C class.

For metallic frigates, yeah, you want to check it's core base stats (i.e. the stat total minus the bonuses given by it's traits)

Yes, they improve overtime
They usually lose their negative traits and pick up new ones
How do you tell if the base stats are good?
If there are space for the said trait
You'd want to have base stats of 10 or higher
(the expedition time and fuel consumption traits do not count towards base stats btw)

which is to say, everytime i dont need/want something i tend to find it everywhere in glorious sufficiency. when i do need it, suddenly planets either dont have it at all, or if its present, nodes are separated by >1000U

Yeah personally I wouldnt sell the starting ship radiant pillar (but you can get another better ship to use as your main one). That thing has come in clutch for me on more than one occasion! (Also I think radiant pillar has unique markings you cant get if you fabricate the ship again later). The base multitool you can trade in for a better one later

I collected it from my freighter cultivation rooms, and also went and manually harvested a lot
(Collected carbon and then refined it)
some players will prefer building an o2 mine, refine o2 to carbon, carbon to condensed carbon - then multiply cond carbon with o2 (1+2=6)

@mystic lake personally, after nutrient ingestor and +% resources mined ingestor buff were added, i've started to just mine plants and rocks again. 500-1k carbon for a single plant? 500 dust for a single small rock? yeah, it's powerful, and it piles up really quick.

is there a way to increase chances of getting another living frigate? I have two but I want another one to increase chances to get spawning sacs, I only get eggs so far. I've been pulsing for hours in various systems, wasted bunch of anomaly detectors until I figured out you can just warp into another system mid pulse without losing the detector, but I still get no frigate
You just have to pulse in your ship using the anomaly detector and ignore all anomalies until you see "Whalesong detected" or something like that. After ignoring an anomaly another one will spawn within 2-5 seconds
- 1 LF can be hired per system
- after the first one, when using anomaly detector (AD), class of the frigate is tied per system
- pop AD, pulse, stay in pulse till you see whalesong pulse encounter notification, ignore everything else
- go for 5-10min, if nothing either reload to get AD back or warp out and back in to try once more
- 2 attempts, nada? move on
I've been going for 10-15 minutes per system, warping out to another system not to lose yet another detector, trying in another system, but nothing. only rare object, atlas and the portal things

nice, s-class no less. to make them extremely OP, they're best hired at s-class, because they always spawn with 0 expeditions completed. that said, i was just thinking that DA might actually be one of the items that game is able to see regardless (or almost) of inventory access restrictions - kinda like it can do with unused void eggs (seems that only putting them in an inactive exocraft works to prevent the game from seeing them)

spawning sacs are a lot rarer than psy eggs for sure. that said, it is possible to get a decent build in there without upgrading the tech inventory size

Sentinel Pillars...
Console is used for shutting down sentinels planet-wide, but in order to do that you have to fight 6 waves of sentinels and defeating the last wave shuts down sentinels planet-wide? 🤨
You can get maps to sentinel pillars without fighting all of the waves
Maybe I did it wrong. 😁 I was at a pillar and the console said it was locked until the sentinel forces were defeated.
One of them did drop a map, though, so I guess I can use that in the future.

They spawn in place of the normal freighter battle in Outlaw systems and some T3 combat systems once you meet the requirements:
- 3 hours played and 5 warps since your last freighter battle
- Already own a freighter
- Space Combat difficulty cannot be set to None

You don't have to take out the engines first if you can do enough damage fast enough. Leaving them intact gives you a better loot pool if you choose to destroy it too

yeah, that's not what those comments said though, they specifically said radiant hearts, but at least I know I wasn't completely clueless because I too thought it was the crystalized heart that dropped from those, but 3-4 different comments and a facebook post adamantly claimed it was the radiant heart that dropped, in a direct response to questions about how to get those.

Do note it is not recommended to do the story in a group, and reaching the Anomaly is a very important troubleshooting step when looking at multiplayer issues
