Can only buy them from space stations. Later on, there's a special type that you can build yourself but the colors are semi-random, and they're very different from other multi-tools visually (they're staffs)

Gas Giant systems do not have waterworlds in them, ever

as waterworlds cannot be found in the form of moons/giants

if you really want to use freighter items, you can combine your current sodium with carbon to get sodium nitrate and refine it again to give you more sodium than you ended up with

moons in non purple stars will never have water. additionally to that, dead and weird biome also wont ever have water

dead biome = any planet or moon with rusted metal on the list
weird biome = any planet or moon with gold on the list
that said, dont think i've ever seen a weird biome body with salvageable scrap. it's easy enough to confirm that a planet doesnt have water from space, if it doesnt have the storm overlay on at that time. if you're looking for a nice planet to farm corvette parts, i'd say not worry much, just keep visiting systems with lots of planets (up to 6), and avoid ones with lots of mountains. perhaps focus on ones with activated stellar metal on the list.

refine pure ferrite afterwards to get mag ferrite

that's pretty much one of the ways. if you get lots of outlaw stations in your teleporter list, you can loop around, buying all tech/arms packets from both the contraband agent and from a trade terminal on a planet - unpack them all, sell the modules for nanites. some module types are worth more than others: e.g. x-class hazard prot sells for ~700 nanites

a trade terminal at a trade outpost in an outlaw system will have the same offerings as the contraband agent in the outlaw station. simply dont build a base nearby (within 300u) of that trade terminal, otherwise it wont have the same offerings as the contraband agent anymore, it'll just be a regular trade terminal.
always ask as much as you need to; actually, i feel that the blame/fault is mine, for not explaining things clearly first and foremost.

this is something i'll leave up to you. remember that sometimes both agent and trade terminal only have like 3 or 4 packets of each type we want. but perhaps a trade terminal with 10 or 11.. would make it worth your while taking a detour. besides that extra bit of time, it's not like finding a trade outpost costs you anything either, after you've unlocked and installed eco scanner.

and if you asked me why, at heart the reason is simple: i get bored of just seeing the interior of space stations and the same npc - i'd like to have a planet side view, at least from time to time
i remember u and someone else saying it doesnt matter if u have an eco or conflict scanner in finding outlaw systems, but with eco scanner, i couldnt find 1 in like 10 mins, but when i decided to get the conflict scanner, i found like 8 in 3 minutes
theyre only in the red systems on conflict scanner mode
oh conflict scanner does help in that manner for sure, and i've been of the opinion that we dont need it, but it does help, because conflict filter colors t3 conflict and outlaw red (but due to some bug or something not implemented, sometimes uncharted systems also get colored red)
seems that there's some kind of bug with them that, when there's lots of other lights or decorations i guess might count too on the ship, some dont light up.
i tried building a ship with 4 of those, and just the other needed parts, didnt go overboard, and all 4 lit up

yep, harvesting gutrot flower will drop faecium. faecium can also be hotspot harvested (one of the possible minerals on swamp aka marsh biome planets)

nah, not really. try focusing on visiting green star systems (spectral class E) for a bit. then when scanning planets, keep an eye out for any planet/moon with it on the list.

Here's what they look like for me, I do have a few mods installed but none of them affect in-atmosphere cloud rendering to my knowledge. In some cases, they look very transparent which might not be intentional, idk

@swift sand i think i found a work around not being able to put a base next to outlaw trade outposts, u can place a base and a tp at the outpost, and when u need to go to it, tp, delete ur tp and base computer, then youll be able to buy the goods, and then place it back down and leave, idk if thats fasters or not than just flying to it from 300 u away tho, prob not
yeah, not sure about that one, might be more clicks than just building the base comp, and using short range teleporter to get close to the trade outpost in a hurry

in short, when your save file has reached the limit of stored interactions, because of interacting with more buildings, the game will be forced to forget you ever interacted with them, and at that point, they'd regenerate

the actual teleporter is not only used to teleport out of a base, but also set our teleport in spawn point, so you could/should be able to use it that way

How can I find depots?
- build and claim a base computer
- teleport to that base - you'll spawn next to the base comp
- now build a teleporter at that base, away from the base comp
- teleport to that base again: you will spawn next to the teleporter, not to the base computer
any exocraft with the base radar tech installed can locate them easily - you could also use secure/secret planetary charts
unlocking roamer would be a matter of some 4 or 5 salvaged data, the exocraft radar tech a couple hundred nanites if that
then just build the geobay, spawn it, install tech, goto town
roamer geobay can be unlocked with salvaged data as mentioned, from the construction research station in the anomaly

@untold cove a possibly easier way to find a suitable dissonant system is to use a carrier ai fragment consumable item. (it drops from destroying space police freighter)
nah, for much more. that's just a staff you build during the quest, and i've seen people getting s-class out of it lol. that said, no bother, you'll be able to acquire more parts and build other staffs with diff parts, and only build when you see s-class popping

Use your Polyphonic Core to locate an Autophage Camp
Scan at the Autophage Camp to reveal cloaked Autophage units
Interact with Autophage units to accept tasks from them, then complete those to earn Void Motes
Interact with the Autophage Synthesis Terminal at Autophage Camps to buy staff parts, each one offers a different selection of staff parts
When you have one of each type of staff part (so one head, one handle and one core), interact with any Autophage Synthesis Terminal to construct the staff
The staff's class is randomized, per the combination of head you use and the camp you build it at. Changing either of these variables leads to a different predetermined outcome, so attempt to build it at a different camp if you wish for a higher class, or upgrade it's class manually using nanites at the Multi-Tool Upgrade Station aboard Space Stations
Is it worth it? 5M seems like the tall ask unless it's a one time payment, or the profit is even larger

envoy gives race standing+nanites, scrap dealer gives tainted metal. i'd say turn both items to scrap dealer. there's some nice stuff to unlock from him that needs tainted metal, besides tainted metal having a decent refine to nanites ratio

the Envoy boosts your guild rating & race rank (i did this early game just to get the better rewards faster); the dealer gives you tainted metal. i prefer the dealer normally since the tainted metal is good for nanites

I had a wrong character in the friend code
is the weapons terminal supposed to give you infinite multi tools after you finish all the quests because it seems quite broken to be able to disassemble them for free materials for no additional cost, especially with what the blaze javelin disassembles for which for an infinitely repeatable task is really simple
oh and also scrapping the multi tools too
yeah this is a known issue that's been reported here by other players as well

the red parts are damaged slots that you cant use untill you repair them

Having Space Combat set to None will make it so that space combat never occurs, including freighter battles

When you mark one, you should see the waypoint while in the system. You can then pulse to it
If you mean you marked a star system, you should be given a small objective marker leading you to it on the galaxy map
alternatively, you can just teleport back to it's space station if you visited it recently

It's been 4 hours and im still in the same solar system

You can see where other planets are on your starship's holographic map in first person

No, you can just go and salvage them immediately

well, you can farm parts for free - dont necessarily need to spend units to get basic modules, just farm salvageable scrap then possibly even barter for parts you want

i've visited over 100 star systems and still haven't found any paradise planet, is that normal?
when searching for frigates to join my fleet. do the economies and specialties of a system affect the type and class of frigates? for instance does a affluent scientific system have better chance for s class scientific vessels?
- any planet/moon with star bulb on the list may potentially be hazardous storm free, even if it doesn't specifically say the body is a paradise planet/moon - having the paradise "tag" simply confirms to you from space that it wont have storms
- you can locate star bulb resource via catalog&guide to be led to a system with a planet of the lush biome, which could very well turn out to be a paradise planet/moon
- well, 100, 200 - that's the stroke of luck, or lack of - be sure to focus on visiting yellow star systems only, perhaps explore in a lush type galaxy e.g. eissentam

Yes
fly by event, they're actually called "frigates". we cant really do anything with them when they spawn on a planet atmosphere, but when found in space, if we have a freighter already, we can hire up to 30 frigates to be able to run fleet expedition missions for passive loot
dont worry, all part of the journey, always feel free to ask when you feel stuck or curious about something
"expedition" is a bit of an ambiguation: there's fleet expeditions, and expedition game mode

@reef mirage you'll need to have a "base" to build in to progress the early quests so i'd certainly suggest always having at least 1 claimed base computer somewhere at all times, so that missions dont get stuck

we all play in the same universe, but we control whether we want to see other players or not (multiplayer on or off). if two players have multiplayer enabled and happen to be in/get to the same system (there are trillions and trillions), the game would auto connect them into an instance, and they'd see each other

the game doesn't hand craft all that - this is all procedurally generated

If you play long enough, you will hit the unit cap. There is no real need to farm units in the long term. You might need a bump early to fulfill specific personal goals, though.

In a space station, there's a terminal with a display of your ship
If it's a regular space station (not abandoned or pirate), it's at the back left.
If it's a pirate station, it's at the front right.

You can get parts by scrapping ships and extracting a customisation module (wings, fuselage, cockpit). The reactor is purchased from the starship upgrade module vendor.

Alternatively, you can make a corvette by collecting salvaged scrap

part of it is going to be about upgrading gear too yeah, upgrades are certainly going to be a way to smooth out that progression curve. early on, try not to hoard so much - there's very little you actually need to keep on you.
pulse engine upgrade modules (a or s-class ones recommended) will make that happen

switch/switch2 sometimes get updates delayed probably by nintendo cert processes, and sometimes that turns out that an expedition only becomes available on switch/switch2 a bit later on. that said, usually, there's still plenty of time, as pretty much all expeditions can be completed in a few hours

Yeah, but it only lets me use specifically corvette interior, like the Medi-pod, Refinery, Windows, and Living wall, along with the mission radar

question, I read that the sentinel multi-tools have an inherent mining beam bonus because you can place the hijacked laser next to the regular mining beam for a good extra bonus; is this true?

why the space station i'm on right now doesn't have core and only has 2 doors on sides that lead to interior with normal space station stuff but infected

what can I do to make this thing go away? I've cleared the sentinels about 15 times but this is not going away despite getting the message that sentinels are backing down. things I've tried:
- teleport to another system
- reload before/after clearing the sentinels
- disabling sentinels from a tower that is unfortunately on another planet, there's no tower on this planet

The finding 6 fauna mission is glitched. I have all fauna discovered. But the discovery page says the flying fauna is not found. Marked green in the sky. 6 weeks of wasted time. Took 2 weeks of crashing every two minutes to get all but 1 milestone. Sean has no excuses for releasing a horrible update.

if you're at 6 or less ships, and only have 1 corvette, and have a freighter - resummoning freighter should park corvette outside, and you should be able to then use the short range teleporter in the hanger to teleport to it. if not, see this post <#nms-commands message>

yes, there's 2 ways to place a part: either using snap mode, or free placement - most of the floors of the same material can certainly snap together

Tried claiming the fauna hundreds of times. It doesnโt work. I deleted the game and reinstalled. Next update I will wait a week or two for all the bugs the fixed. lol.
but the workaround/fix here is, return to primary save via options menu for example, then travel to expedition planet in your main save, discover all fauna, that will replicate to expedition character

sounds like you want to build a corvette ship. "speedy and has damage" that's just something that any ship can have, after you stack upgrades to make a ship stronger

welp, steam restart didn't help so I just got on doing other things and eventually it did time out I guess cause suddenly it's gone
it gets confusing to say the least when digging through mission files. after having spent like 30min on it, and even having asked for help understanding it, i'm still not clear on what it's doing here, what it actually wants, 100%. anyway, it seems that to trigger dreams of the deep it wants mission the purge completed, and (and/or?) 40 warps
I think it's the first warp of The Purge or your 40th warp for Dreams of the Deep. Whichever happens first
yeah, it's just that in game files i see "GcMissionConditionMissionCompleted" and "ACT3_STEP2" (which is the purge)
@severe crown it seems that it's:
mission starts if:
- player has been grabbed by hypnotic eye thingy underwater OR
- player has completed The Purge OR
- player has done 40 warps while NOT being in seasonal / expedition mode
It must have been 1 for me because I was only a few steps into the Artemis line (still haven't done the Purge) and nowhere near 40 warps.

80% of the time it messes up my aiming or gets me stuck in a wall.

Looks like that might do it. I have a save with almost no progression (see screenshots for progression on methods 2 and 3 for getting the Dreams mission), but went to poke an abyssal horror.
Next trip into space, I noticed I had Dreams of the Deep.
Not 100% proof, but points to it being a strong possibility.
Hi! I bought the game two days ago and am still very new.
I saw a spaceship the other day that had some sort of energy wings.
Is there a way for me to obtain this? And if so how?
I know there is a building dock on space stations but thats for larger ships by the looks of it.

The "energy wings" might have been from a solar ship, if they kinda resembled sails on either side near the front.
And yes, you can buy them from other NPC pilots

That's the Solar ship you talk about. You can build them in Space Station. You can find them anywhere, but most likely in Outlaw Systems.
solar sail is definitely a lot more common in outlaw systems
due to the existing solar override
85% any ship and 10% any other ship type except exotic can be converted to solar in outlaw systems

Are they expensive? Scanning stuff only gives you like 200 currency.
that said, we can also build solar sail @languid bluff - at the back of stations, there's another terminal that lets you build ships (just not corvettes, there's a dedicated terminal for them as you've discovered)
You can buy upgrades to give you over 100000 for each scan
low unit reward on scanning like that means that you've not been upgrading your visor to increase the rewards - it's possible to get them to crazy values, but with just 3 s-class modules, you'd already be looking at something like 450k units per rare fauna scan. that said, there's lots of ways to farm units. suggest reading !faq-units bot command
They are not expensive as ships go, probably in the 3-8M range in my experience.
Also yeah, get some scanner upgrades, they can raise it so you get hundreds of thousands of units per animal scan, and some foods can make that into millions

MOST trade goods are only for money. A few are used to upgrade Settlement buildings, but you can always just go buy those in a 3-star economy when you need them
The only other one i played is subnautica. Which worked somewhat similar

Other ships on space stations. talk to the pilot standing next to them, you can offer to buy their ship

Also, some good early moneymakers are mining Cobalt minerals in underground caves, and once you have a small nest egg and some upgraded gear, go hunting for crashed Sentinel ships.
Or if you wanna cheese it, just visit the anomaly and someone will probably drop hundreds of millions of units on you.

How do I lower my settlement debt faster ?
Just keep following The Settlers mission for that settlement and don't really worry about it. You're not responsible for the debt personally, nor do you receive any of the money the settlement "makes" when it's debt free
Raise all the buildings to class A
First part: no personal debt? great!
Second part: no profit? wait, why are we doing this again? ๐
Pride, and you can have settlements produce items for you that you can then sell, you just don't get the money they make directly
