Hey, i am new here , i had played 50 to 60 hours nms game, i am at the settlers mission and now stucked, if i select another mission its still display the sattlers mission at hud, and if i go to settlement and try to do that upgrade which it display, it says another building need upgrades, i am stucked, i save and reloaded many times, warm to other systems and return still its stuck
also if you wanna find others lithium= water world, parafinnium=paradise, and I think gas giant=activated quartzite and crystallized helium
saw someone mention a worm egg one time. they werent talking about the enormous monster earth worm right?
And if it’s a giant it’s a singular planet that shows up with 3+ moons

this sometimes happens: it doesn't mark the building we need to interact with, but it'll be there. if you go and interact with any of the buildings on the settlement, what does it say? does it say lower left that there's another building in construction?
You can change the active quest in the LOG menu.

gas giant = cryst helium; all lush biome bodies, not necessarily paradise, will have star bulb on the list; swamp aka marsh biome planets can also have paraf on the list, but arent even lush let alone be paradise (a special tag applied on some lush, denoting clear weather) @lean oriole
then you have to find the building that needs your interaction manually: walk around the settlement, looking for either green or red holograms above each building terminal
Mission saying me to upgrade hydro factory and saws tag at tower, but the upgrade option cant be click, it says another building in construction

personally, i dont look to freighter rescue battles for bulkheads anymore. these days, short derelict freighter mission layouts and merchant guild envoys are where its at for me

the derelict freighters I get are way too long and often contaminated, I'll look more into guilds they do give good stuff

you'll want to go talk to the scrap dealer npc in stations, then buy coordinates off him - goto space, use emergency signal scanner
How do nexus missions work in abandoned mode? I assume I can only run them solo? I haven’t tried one yet.

I mean like, clearly Euclid is the most populous and most explored, but is there understood themes for others like, this one is PvP and pirates, this one's farming? Or is it all just, "this galaxy is the main home base of Clan X" which is a lot of the wikis.

nah, not really. at most, their types: norm, empty, lush, harsh - which basically influences biome probabilities in yellow star systems, and in the case of harsh, extreme weather/extreme sentinel/dissonant frequency

You didn't, though. You got the same answer in 2 different ways. You have to look at the individual stars to see the system stats. There is nothing you can install that will allow you to see them just looking at the galaxy map itself
Still have to actually check the system info on the map by selecting it, but if anything the conflict one should narrow it to lvl3 conflict and outlaw.

"pirate controlled" is the conflict tier synonym/descriptor for outlaw systems - only they have outlaw stations. t3 conflict has a regular station
so, i added another ship to my collection on a planet, but that ship is too damaged for me to repair, but now the beacon is gone from my original ship. does anyone have any ideas on how to find it?

Or, if you took your ship to the crashed one, it should be nearby still

Can't summon a ship?
If you save+reload restore point at a planet base, you should then be allowed to quick menu/summon any of your ships, regardless of state.
This is a failsafe added by the devs to ensure players never lose ships in their collection.

not directly, no. at best, you would refine mag ferrite down to pure ferrite, then mix that with o2 for rusted metal, then rusted metal down to dust

I just started my journey in no mans sky and I was stranded on a radioactive planet so I managed to repair my ship and get it into space. The game said the star system was my discovery so it gave me a choice to rename it. So I renamed it. But I was wondering if the name change is only localized to me or is it global?

Rarely you will start in a system that was discovered by someone else (I've done it once)
But for the most part, the vast majority of systems you visit will be discovered by you
I see, I couldn't believe in the beginning that I was the first one to discover this system coz I just started this game and there is already a space station on the system, so I thought the discovery and the name change is localized to me.

you can still harvest the appropriate swamp planet? and just grow it i assume
mordite hotspots are currently bugged and being replaced with sulphurine, but it's still possible to find a planet of the swamp biome with faecium on the list and therefore harvestable with hotspot

Beginner Tips

Settings
If this is your first time playing No Man's Sky:
• There are multiple game modes available, with different difficulty presets. Creative, Relaxed, Normal and Survival game mode saves can all play with each other, while Permadeath and Expedition game modes are separate.
• Go to Options > Network, and disable ability of other players to damage you, edit your bases, or edit your base terrain (discourages griefers). See multiplayer visual guide ».
• Excluding content designed with multiplayer in mind, progress isn't shared between players. It is in fact recommended to play the main (tutorial) missions with multiplayer disabled to prevent issues, at least until you unlock access to the Space Anomaly.
• If you are on PC and want to use the Plasma or Geo Cannon weapons, you might want to re-map secondary fire bind to be anything but RMB, since RMB is also hard-coded to "exit menu."

General Tips
• Save often: update your Restore Point by exiting the starship, claiming a Base Computer, interacting with a Save Point/Save Beacon, or the waypoint machines you find at some Points of Interest (POIs).
• Sentinels are like police in NMS: they don't like it when you destroy, mine or harvest rocks or plants from a planet. When they're watching, stop or move away from them to resume harvesting resources. Avoid entering your ship with an active Sentinel Alert Level: sentinel ships are more difficult to evade than planet sentinels. For tips on how to evade sentinels, take a look at this post.
• The Space Anomaly NPCs and terminals are the single biggest source to learn technology or base part blueprints.
• To easily return to a system or planet you like, place and claim a base computer and name it something you will remember.
• Storage upgrades can be applied to exosuit, ships, multi-tools and freighter. To apply a storage upgrade to a different inventory, switch inventory by pressing Q or E (dpad left or right), then apply the storage upgrade. Storage upgrades can be purchased with units, but also obtained from other sources like scrapping ships or mission board rewards.
• Discovering and registering the complete list of fauna on a planet (at once) will reward nanites - 250 per fauna.

Missions
It's strongly recommended to play the entire main storyline, Artemis Path, and the Atlas Path. Playing all the "important" quests (Artemis path, The Atlas Path, The Space Anomaly, the Base Computer Quest, and Expanding the Base quests) will:
• Introduce you to many of the game's mechanics.
• Teach you unique tech and abilities you can't get anywhere else.
• Give you a lot of free tech you'd have to buy at the Space Anomaly otherwise.
The active mission will switch between available missions in the Logs. It can be well timed or random. You need to reselect the desired mission in the Log menu to continue.

i think that the beginners guide can be distilled down to 2/3 rules:
Play the Artemis quests - it unlocks things. When you get to "The Purge" do the Atlas Path.
Dont do multiplayer until you get to the anomaly.
When you are offered your first freighter, take the time to research what you want before accepting.

You're looking in the wrong place. Don't look at the log, look at the tooltip on the lower right of the screen
Just keep playing, you'll run into them soon enough

Progress Awakenings. You can't travel outside of your starting system until you unlock the hyperdrive. You can't unlock the hyperdrive until you progress the story
this does not bode well

No, only your exosuit and nearby starship is believe

Definitely the exosuit, you might need to be in the starship for it to use its inventory, I dont recall atm

Yeah, very rarely lush/paradise planets may have white grass

what am I missing with the settlements reserves? I've approved like 10 times putting some income to reserves instead of taking it, but every time there's an expense like bonus the settlement goes into debt. do they steal the reserves?

the settlement is profitable for looong time now, so no debt and I get gas and other stuff from it
sounds like a weird bug, or perhaps older cloud save got restore somehow? i'd have tried to swap to a diff ship via summon menu, then would try resummon again, but sounds like there's not much to do now

the upgrades are inclusive, the next tier of hyperdrive includes the benefits from the previous one, in time you will even get a fourth type of drive, which replaces indium as well
yeah, "higher tier" accumulates all "lower tier" funcionalities

Bugged, they will never poop. Just kill them and refine the mordite
the only "link" between them is that unless you get materials from another player, or manage to just buy them, the way to get materials for drive X+1 is to install drive X and go to the system types it unlocks and mine
but yes, once you get the next tier, you can simply remove the previous one and put in the new one
they should remove these missions then, I've waited looong time to discover that it doesn't work

to complete any quest that require you to get X faecium, you just have to "pick up" faecium, I just go grab it from my ingredient storage when I get those quests
if you already had faecium in your inventory when you pick up the quest, you have to pick up more
Dang! Triggered a settlement building upgrade from inside the building. Now I'm trapped in here for the next 90+ minutes. 😜

the quest "resets" to the amount you had in your inventory when you started the quest, and then lists that as 0/125

you need to wait for the tooltip to say 0/148, and then pick up faecium

and don't go grab the faecium right after activating the quest either, you need to wait for the 0/148 tooltip to appear in lower right

do you have a quest that says that you actually need to search dung? or does it say "land" and then search dung? pretty sure all the quests I've picked up that said that switched to "gather X faecium" once I landed on the planet

if it is a quicksilver mission you might get a different mission in another system, if one of them is bugged or otherwise problematic

Hiiii I'm curious to everyones difficulty settings
I found a webbed planet that is, indeed, an exotic webbed biome, but it also has the atmospheric color distortion that's just what the scanner does, but always. The scanner actually corrects the colors to be normal.
That normal for a webbed biome? I just learned about Mega Exotic and am wondering if it's a genuine curiosity here, or, like, usual.

It's not very consistent
Sometimes it lasts for days, sometimes you have to charge it twice back to back, it's weird. Using a different portal forces that previous one to "lose charge" I think though

That's up to you. There are two types of multi-tools that are unlocked after the main story #nms-commands message but that still requires effort to reach and acquire those
Tried that melee boost thing grouch was talking about and went 9k U’s in like 8 seconds
there's no "here's a better multi-tool" at the end of the story or really at any point though. All Multi-Tools come with little to no upgrades, in which upgrades are much more important than anything

The Mining Beam is not a combat weapon
You can purchase upgrades for the technology you have from the multi-tool tech merchant aboard space stations, and you can install up to 3 of each type of upgrade

Interacting with the Corvette Workshop creates an interaction where you can pick between creating a new corvette, modifying your existing corvette, or going to the buy/trade options
Within the buy/trade options, you can either buy from the basic selection of corvette modules or exchange ones from the advanced selection with each other
There's also the Corvette Workshop Cache beside it, which allows you to store a functionally endless amount of your corvette modules within it, shared between all space stations and pulled from to use in the corvette editor

Sentinel Interceptors are a type of starship that are the same kind that attack you when you have a sentinel wanted level while in space. You can obtain them for yourself by finding their crash sites on dissonant worlds #nms-commands message

No, not even once. I only remember from before that you had to warp 5 times for one battle.
If you have not reached that point of the main story, you will never encounter them until you do that.

Also, the cooldown between them is 3 hours of unpaused gameplay time plus 5 warps, both since your last battle. Once both are reached then your next warp is guaranteed to begin a battle (unless warping via freighter or to an uncharted/black hole/atlas station system)

You won't get battles if you warp in your freighter/dreadnought
From my experience, they may count towards the 5 warp requirement but will never begin the battle themselves

Place a refiner down and put the bulkhead in,then place another refiner inside that refiner so they overlap then keep doing that, after you’ve placed all the refiners overlapping, pick up the portable refiners and you should have more then one
With that option enabled, you should be able to just unlock endless slots passively

I just finished my first pirate fight protecting a freighter. When I land on the ship and talk to the captain, when I click to inspect the ship, it doesn't pop up the menu to get the ship, it just recycles the talking. Is there a way to fix this?

you should actually reduce the amount of things you're selling in one click, as selling them when that error is present gives less units

did you get a starship communication from the freighter captain after fighting or shoot the freighter when you were in combat? might be that the freighter marked you as hostile

if you just quit game and relaunch freighter will be gone. at best i'd suggest reloading restore point (which is probably still in the previous system) and rewarp to any gek/korvax/vykeen system, to retrigger the battle event and try again
I'm not sure what else could be done, you could install some of the blueprint tech that you're missing a bunch of (especially the phase beam's blueprint tech). Some of it isn't necessary at all/is subjective, like the emergency warp unit and the flight assist override. I also have the Photonix Core here which can't be obtained anymore

I have a whole caos and it starts getting bigger from time to time.
i think this is going to depend a lot from player to player, but for example, i use my storage containers/storage rooms for raw materials, upgrade modules, consumables/1 time use items like charts, food items and collectibles (you know, stuff like delicate flora or lost artifact proc gen loot, when they have cool descriptions). my ships hold materials to recharge their systems. my suit basically has 1 stack of every material on one half, the other half is for stuff i get while gameplay sessions which i'll sort later
if i wanted to power a certain number of gas or mineral extractors using solar panels and batteries, is there a perfect ratio for that?
what do the crew berth and medipod corvette modules do?

They would automatically appear if you add more storage compartments in your freighter
build the freighter storage container equivalents, called storage rooms, then goto freighter base, and open freighter inventory menu (or replace "go to freighter base" with "summon freighter to current system" if you got matter beam installed)

It's a valid option. You can reset your negative standing to 0 using a forged passport later. Though it's not really much better than other options, involving a lot of rng #nms-questions message

You need to buy the derelict locator from creepy uncle under the staircase on space stations.
(once you do your first derlict, fire-face on the anomaly gives you a free locator once a week)

We can only build fighter, hauler, explorer and solar ships via starship fabrication, as well as corvettes via their own base-building system
That's pretty cool
basically extract a part from the ship type you want, do that three times and combine them together at the starship fabricator plus a reactor of the class you want to fabricate one (you can pick the color)
for corvettes, they work more like a base that you can fly and walk inside of. They are assembled with modules that snap together that can either be bought or salvaged from salv containers

If you save+reload restore point at a planet base, you should then be allowed to quick menu/summon any of your ships, regardless of state.
This is a failsafe added by the devs to ensure players never lose ships in their collection.

The planet does not matter when using Bio-Domes/Hydroponic Trays/etc, you can grow all of them on any planet when built in those

If you use the tool AMUSS (sp?) you can also write your 'scripts' in 'Lua', which will then compile into EXML to be packaged as a mod.
Does anyone know if it is possible to destroy a Sentinel Freighter or Dreadnaught without blowing up its shield generators first? (I heard if you use the right type of weapon at the right power it can penetrate the shields, but not sure if that is accurate).

At best, you can make Pirate Dreadnoughts surrender without destroying the shield gens, by destroying all of their Anti-Freighter Cannons
I was hoping I could build a corvette with enough weaponry on it to destroy those ships from afar, without having to fly under the shields.

Yes, we are basically limited to changing settings, as if everything was run by a giant config.ini file. But 'functionality' cannot really be impacted. However, configuration can push things quite far.
We can also change entire data files, but those have limits and all of them have no tools to edit them outside of text editing

How does the reward system work then?
Like expeditions? (I never downloaded a mod that gave stuff from old expeditions, but I have seen a couple people use it)
That mod just adds entries to the Quicksilver shop that are basically copies of the expedition reward entries
All your inventory (including expedition rewards) are encoded in your save file. Your save file can be opened up with tools like nomnom /goatfungus and edited.
You can download mods and just see what they do, this is the best way to understand what mods are capable of
If you use a tool like goatfungu you can open up your save file, give yourself everything (expedition rewards, money, items that canno longer be obtained, etc.). HG has not indicated they minded this.

Oh, there is an nms-modding channel here if you wish to get into it. Its not that difficult, but it probalby requires a lot of time testing your mods, especially if you make something new.

How do glyph coords work
You type the coordinates into a portal, enter it and it transports you to the planet at those coordinates
To enter in glyphs, you need the portal glyphs unlocked. The easiest way to unlock them is to complete the main story #nms-commands message

Not really. There are rare asteroids that visually have crystals, these tend to have Tritium, Tritium Hyperclusters and Anomaly Detectors. Maybe they give Platinum too, I forget
Know that you can refine Gold and Silver together in a medium refiner or greater to create Platinum

Kinda capped/at the limit, though it'd be much better to supercharge pulse engine upgrades instead of the corvette cockpit
same with the infra-knife upgrades, which should be supercharged instead of the corvette module infra-knife upgrades if they natively have greater stats (they should)

Yeah i usually don't even notice such changes, because i don't memorise the stats, but this time i just finished upgrading the corvette and rememberded the numbers.

Also, can you physically touch the ship or do you go through it?
If the latter, this may be similar to a bug that I've experienced a bunch before, which means saving and reloading should work, even if it takes multiple tries.

The Space Anomaly stops being a mission after it's tutorial is done. It's telling you to track Ghosts in the Machine.
The Space Anomaly is just a reminder that the Space Anomaly exists, and is crucial for unlocking blueprints, base parts and other progression things.
It also auto-tracks when you're given an opportunity to tell Nada what's happening in the main story in exchange for Quicksilver, but otherwise it truly has no objective.

An Atlantid Drive allows travel to Red, Green, Blue and Purple coloured star systems.

On the subject: you only need the Atlas Pass level 3 to unlock level 1, 2 and 3 locks. You can dismantle your level 1 and level 2 passes.
