Hi. I finally made it to the galactic core and I took my corvette. When I made it to the new galaxy my corvette was broken, but the stairs were bugged so I couldn't get into it an access my storage vaults to get my materials to fix my corvette. So I summoned my other corvette and now I cant resummon my old one to fix it. I genuienly have no clue what to do

Another helpful troubleshooting step is going to the space anomaly with multiplayer enabled, and seeing if other players show up

By defeating a Sentinel Walker, and either mining or collecting the brain carriage they drop
Sentinel Walkers only appear at wave 5 of regular ground sentinel combat
You could alternatively get a Walker Brain from opening Suspicious Packet (Goods), which can be purchased from the Contraband Agent aboard Outlaw Stations
or as a mission board reward from either regular space station mission agents or the Nexus aboard the Space Anomaly
the alternatives might be a better bet now, because of that bug with walker sometimes spawning underground/nowhere to be seen

It would be wise to install either an Economy or Conflict scanner, which allow you to see the Economy and Conflict data for systems you haven't visited yet. Outlaw Systems have both a unique economy tier and conflict tier, represented by the skulls.

You only get one free freighter from an attack event, but it doesn't matter all that much since you trade in the value of your current freighter to buy the next one

Yep. There is some small benefit to holding off for the most expensive freighter you can find, but the benefits are small. Better spend that time earning units to make up for it. Having access to a freighter early is quite convenient
note on pirate freighter, always free, but can only start spawning after 2 rescue battles and owning a freighter
Anything you build on your current freighter will be moved automatically when you switch, but tech upgrades and inventory has to be moved by you. Slot increases cannot be moved, but will greatly add to the value of the freighter during the trade.

Those controls mainly apply in first person I believe
when in third person, exocraft will always follow the camera

like it moves that way a little bit but it still accelerates in the direction that the camera faces

- fighter is another ship type
- we cant build exotic ship type, only fighter/explorer/hauler/solar sail and corvette

I do think it would be awesome for a future update to allow mixing and matching components across all ship types. There are features from all of them that I’d love to roll into a nice neat little package.
I mean yeah we can do that with corvettes to an extent, but I’d still like to be able to do the same with small fighters and the like.
always feel free to submit suggestions to the devs ofc, but that might be a tough ask due to how ship proc gen works. that said, corvettes are built, but in a completely differnt way, not sure if you had any experience with them yet

Righto. I’d say the biggest thorn in my side is constant crashes on the NS2 platform. Aside from that, it seems the last round of updates fixed several other issues, including an issue that was preventing me from finishing the latest expedition.

Could someone help me understand how random species in the game are? I found a bubble planet with the only animals in it being dipping bubbles but as I just found out... that is pretty common? I mean it looks like almost all bubble planets have them?
So are planets just presets? Is anything random?
planets with gold on the resource list are of the exotic aka weird biome; they usually have those anomalous fauna species, only 1 species per planet. that said, there are some other cases where the game can override that, and for example spawn robo aka mecha fauna on them, or even organics like insects.
Yeah, I reinstalled, but on the switch 2 there is no way to clear the game cache. I had the same problem with Cyberpunk2077, and clearing out the auto saves periodically mitigates that issue, and I would assume it would be the same for NMS, but there is no way to clear old autosave data on the Switch 2 version, so I’m kinda stumped.
a lot of what comes to planets is proc generated and shown by the game whenever you visit somewhere, and that means that for example, same planet has the same terrain shape for all players that visit that planet. otoh, loot drops arent always "synced" between all players that visit, but sometimes they are, like crashed ship sites, down to ship design and class and even supercharged slot layout.
some biomes have specific rules, or should i say exceptions, that allow or prevent some other content of the game from ever being allowed on them.
But I mean I found an old reddit post where a guys shares a bubble planet that looks exactly like mine. But it isn't mine because I discovered mine. Same skies, some soild, same rocks! And of course, the fauna. So is there any randomness to planet generation? Or are they all presets and the only random part is which preset I find?
well, but in nms the notion of autosave means a save slot of a character, that automatically gets updated by the game, and is basically a copy of restore point save slot. iow, if your current restore point save slot is "good", then next autosave that will happen in like the next minute if you move around for a bit for example should also be good
does that planet you're on have gold in resource list? then yes, there's a subtype of that biome that's often called just "bubble" (can have synonyms like "foaming" or "bubbling"), and that's common to find - all of that same subtype will basically have that same feature, bubbles floating everywhere
The exotic/weird biome planets have very limited range for how things can look on them. there are 12 "types" of these and planets of the same "type" will be VERY similar. other biomes have greater variation.
Possibly? I’ll give it a shot. I’m just wondering if there is a build up of junk save data accumulating in the background that is potentially causing a memory leak and subsequent crash to occur. From Nintendo’s side, it’s obnoxious because the crash message doesn’t give any relevant data (like an error code) that could be useful for determining where the fault lies.

yes, sky colors etc that can vary. just keep on playing. also recommend continuing playing to unlock purple star systems. try finding those planets in uncharted systems (no race icon in galaxy map) for the possibility of finding those planets with mecha fauna
there shouldnt be, as the game is pretty self contained afaik, even on consoles. it doesnt keep backups of previous old save versions for example.
guys i installed planetary room scanner in my freight but it only get information from planets i already visited so whats the advantage in that? or im using it wrong?

if you walk up to the scanner room, then interact with it, it should discover all planetary bodies in the system i think, even if you had discovered some already (afaik that's what's intended)
but it wont discover fauna, plants, minerals themselves - though iirc it does allow for knowing how many fauna species are on the planet, which can be useful sometimes

yeah, if you just claimed the bottom 2 and all of a sudden the top 4 became red - that's def a bug. did you try to save+reload or teleport out and back in?

Requirement: playing solo; if you were playing with friends recently, save+reload from main menu after disabling multiplayer.
When the player current position is 4000 Light Years away from current mission location or more, a button appears in the Log tab that allows to restart the last mission stage. Most commonly used ways to trigger it:
- Space Anomaly Teleporter (teleport to a Featured base, check Log tab; retry with different base if needed);
- Warping (e.g. 4 1000LY distance warps in the same direction, but contrary to Current Mission destination in galaxy map);
After getting far away enough, be sure to give the game a few seconds to recalculate distances, then check Log tab.

"coolant distributer" is one of the corvette parts that doesnt actually drop in game for some reason that we dont know why. that said, options/difficulty/crafting=free would allow you to use it

No use the expedition terminal behind the Nexus to start the expedition from the save you list the tool in
Only problem is this expedition requires that you complete the whole thing to unlock the anomaly
So you'll have to go through the whole thing
But at the end you can claim the tool, make sure it's your active tool, and then end the expedition
You'll be able to make a copy through the terminal

I've read in a few places that using your freighter to jump the Galactic Core is a really bad idea cause it gets deleted... this still true?

i didn't even know that freighters even let you try and make that jump. given the way it wants to damage your starship...
you can punch plants as a last resort
assuming you dont have a starship - because you can also harvest fe, C and a few related resources by shooting the surface

aiming is tricky, and a positron ejector helps for its wide area. you obv need to try and hit plants and rocks. But will damage and destroy them and get their resources while safe in your cockpit

@untold cove @severe crown of further note, that our save files have limited space to store discoveries we make; so after lots of new discoveries, eventually game is forced to "forget" older discoveries off the list (but if you uploaded those discoveries, at least the nms discovery server knows, and if you rescan/revisit, it will then re-add that info to your save file until.. next time it happens). same thing can happen with space stations on the teleporter list btw.
so if you want to ensure you can return to some system in the future, drop and claim base comp there

ah - yes, after you did whatever at the building, game will eventually forget that POI was ever interacted with. HUD POI markers otoh are persistent across game restarts, and there's also something that's called the "marker stack" in the save file. that one, i'm not sure it actually forgets older, not yet visited markers, ime it seems that it doesn't do that since markerstack can actually get exhausted and start causing issues
i've gotten in the habit of always clearing my remaining markers in a system if i'm leaving and wont be needing it/those markers anymore
i sure love driving for 15 mins with the slowest vehicle in the game because this expedition dont let me use my starship
if you really want your ship, you could rush to phase 5; complete all checkpoint milestones in phases 1-4, then complete all of phase 5, you'll have access to your ship then

Settlements are not part of your save, they are part of online-discovery-services. All of your ODS resources - bases and settlements and discoveries - can happily outlive your actual save being terminated.

- in short, quick and dirty:
- locate a cabinet, check tool
- goto a planet or moon in the system, save+reload restore point
- return to cabinet, check tool
- repeat for other planets/moons; locate more cabinets to have more cabinets to check per reload
- more infos <#nms-commands message>
- after we take a tool from a cabinet, the save will remember that until game is forced to flush out older stored interactions to make room for new ones, that's when things like that regen

I see most advice over the years was to decline the first freighter offered after a rescue. Then there were some posts countering that advice and saying just go for it as it will open up more options.
Having just started this game a couple weeks ago, I have plenty going on without adding freighter tasks to my to-do list, so...any compelling reason to take this first one? Or just decline it and wait for another later.

Ok so i was looking through my guide and discoveries the other day.
I did the quest for a luci g ship and I have salvaged multiple sentinel ships yet none of those parts show up. Is this something that's not supposed to be added to my catalogue? If not then why are they there?
When you are salvaging sentinel ships you should recieve valuable items you can sell
correct me if I don't understand your question, but you cannot exrtact custermisation modules from sentinel ships, because those can't be crafted
Yeah. But in the "blueprints" section there's a section for sentinel and living ship tech components but even though I've done the living ship quest and had to build all those components the don't show up as known. Same with sentinels.

Sentinel ships use standard componens. The special cannon in sentinel ships, is the same as photon cannon in normal ships.
Living ships use special componens you can only get a specific way. Afaik only through frigate expedition rewards

No problem. I just thought that once I Crafted something it went into my known blueprints. But the components i had to craft for the void egg stuff are blacked out in my blueprints. I don't know if it means they just can't be crafted anymore or that I don't know them. I'm just sort of a completionist so I'm trying to get all technologies and recipes and such.

No. I had the egg. I did the quest. During that there's certain things you have to craft at each stage. I have them in my craftable items tab inthe game but in the guide/discovery section they are blacked out and it says I don't know them.

If you have finished the living ship quest, you never need to worry about crafting those items at all

Like for nutrition recipes when you craft something you learn it. And it shows up in your known discoveries tab. Those are blacked out for me. They don't ha e the "?" just blacked out.
hi, to be clear this happens the same for us all. basically (and most likely) because we cannot ever learn the blueprints of those techs. here's another example, vesper sail, prebuilt into any solar sail ship type, also stays greyed out. feel free to submit suggestions to the devs via the zendesk link ofc. (otoh, an example that they should fix dont see a reason not to, is the freighter upgrade module catalog "unlocks": even if you've obtained and installed tons of them, it still wont reveal them in the catalog)

Question about exchanging Corvette Parts. Is there a way to adjust the quantity of the items you are trading? I know you can adjust the number you want, but if I have a stack of 10 of a part, is there a way to only trade 5 of them?

As for me, I keep my common use items in my exo -- all elemental (9999 stack) materials until they cap, then they go into starship for overflow. Then common-used items (ammo, atlaspass, ticket to freedom, creature pellets, nav data, charts and locators. That leaves about 50 inv left for whatevrtr I am picking up on misisons or planets

personally i dont hoard much early on, just have the basics on me. that allows me to rush to owning a freighter, which in turn opens up matter beam and remote access to built storage room when freighter is in current system

if you dont have options/difficulty/space combat set to none, the first freighter rescue event will happen naturally as you progress through main storyline early missions (alone amidst the stars, ghosts in the machine). until we take ownership of a freighter, all freighters rescued from pirates will be offered for free

depends on the type of freighter, and difficulty settings. in normal mode, a s-class capital freighter (venator or sentinel) will go up to 178M. pirate freighters are always free, but have spawn requirements of their own (2 rescue battle events completed, own a freighter)

The first glyph in any sequence indicates which planet it's referring to within the star system

Where did you get the number from? A ship's seed can't be converted into portal glyphs directly, that's not how it works. Possibly try asking in the service bot's home discord #nms-commands message
- unless you go for a crashed ship, and not looking for an exotic ship (a ship type, which are always s-class), then class that drops is random, with systems of higher eco tier having better drop chances
- "alien" aka living ship is quest locked first, they're always s-class as well, but cannot spawn without an item called void egg- i'd suggest typing

i went for crashed ships and I am tired I don't find any exotic or s class
I tried to put painted color on the ship and the numbers always turned red

but you should only be able to get the glyphs for the ship from that server too. I don't believe the website itself ever gives the glyphs, only a code to give their discord bot to reverse engineer that into a location
yeah, exotics have a really low spawn chance, 1 in 301 regardless of eco tier. your probable best bet is to either get taxied to a crashed ship site with a s-class ship, or just continue playing till rng blesses, or just farm the nanites to class upgrade a ship you like (doesnt take that long using some strategies), or just build a ship with a s-class reactor (if the ship types you like include fighter, explorer, hauler or solar sail)
I generally find ship I like, doesn't matter what class. I then have 3-4 curious deposit captcha farms and farm daily to refine for nanites, then upgrade ship to S in short time.
yeah, enough very-lucrative nanite sources in the game atm

industrial waste != salvageable scrap, but industrial waste can be found and processed on most planets with salvageable scrap on the list
