so I uninstalled and reinstalled figurines until the one I wanted showed up on my dashboard, but then the next time I played the game the tentacled figurine had taken over again. is there a way to fix this, or will that figurine always take priority?
i dont play with a controller, but 1) worth a shot to just switch to the default controller profile by hello games and try to see if that one works well, and if then modifying that, controller profiles behave
if polo was installed i think that one would take highest prio still, but no, you cant select the priority/which one to show yourself
After the update it switched to default. You can’t switch back to custom and any changes I make to default doesn’t save. Others have reported this on Reddit but no fix that I’ve heard so far.
well, i'd suggest submitting a bug report through the zendesk link, there's been updates in the past that messed with controls, so probably just a bug

Does anyone have any tips for landing big pieces of garbage in the portable incinerator?
i haven't needed anything except the core hyperdrive for any galactic cores up to this point. why now?
budull is the first galaxy on the list to require something else other than a base hyperdrive
Any advice on finding just, regular Creature Eggs? I'm playing Expy 5 and I have all the Tall and Giant eggs I need, but every other creature just seems to give milk

yeah, i think indium is still fine, i havent heard of them changing anything in regards to this with worlds pt2, but yeah that will surely cover it
How does the industrial waste work exactly and is there any reason to use it?
is anyone else having an issue where their camera slowly drifts to the right while they play?

not sure i understand the question here. industrial waste is thrown into the general processor, if toxic/radioactive/explosive specialist waste then into the respective processors, drops a resource depending on type of waste processed and a small amount of nanites - if you wanted to unlock colossus furnace customization option, you need to process 200 waste, for example.

I don't know what causes it but leaving anomaly and docking in a space station seems to have alleviated it? I'm not entirely sure what triggers it though I think it's tied to leaving your corvette's seat

hey. So I spawned the freighter battle, and I think I said I'll take the money. but I sure didn't get a lot of money, so maybe I didnt? Either way, how can I get another chance at a free freighter? Or was that a one time shot?
if you "requested payment", then you got 1 cargo bulkhead, some gold, some nanites. until you take ownership of a freighter, all freighters rescued from pirates will be offered for free. as long as options/difficulty/space combat isnt set to none, the next rescue battle event will happen naturally as you keep playing and progressing. small advice: to always have a save to reload back to, until the next battle triggers, always exit ship in station to update restore point save slot before warping out to another system.

What should I look for in a first freighter?
It's this author's opinion that for a first freighter, any freighter will do. If you like the one you're looking at, great, but getting a freighter ASAP is more important. Stats don't matter at this point, and for a few reasons:
- Early on, a character won't have the resources to make full use of a higher class freighter;
- All freighters have the same base building dimension limits;
-# Freighter base can be migrated over to a new freighter, when we decide to exchange. - Matter Beam freighter tech is a huge QoL feature: provides remote access to freighter core cargo from anywhere in the universe and, when freighter is in the current system, to any storage room built on the freighter base;
-# Freighter research is unlocked save wide, and we can package installed tech/modules at any time when in our freighters. - Fleet expeditions can give some nice loot, and run even when game is turned off;
- Units won't be a problem later on, when we want to exchange to another freighter.

later on, you'll be so rich that looking back, your first freighter, heh, a stepping stone to help you progress easier
Does anyone know how to fix my problem, I had spent a long time building my base on my freighter but no matter what I seem to try my friends can't see it, they don't have their freighter out, they have tried leaving and rejoining but they only see the prefab base that was in the freighter to begin with

if you save+reload on diff planets in the system and recheck, you should see diff tools. but all pillars on the same planet will have the same tool
Is there a currently known issue about ramps into certain buildings not working?
if you take a multitool, the game marks that cabinet as looted in your save file, and it would only regen in game once the game was forced to flush out that stored interaction to make room for new ones
already fixed on steam experimental branch, just need to wait for the next patch

It's a sandbox, you make your own fun. Explore, farm, collect, build, whatever you want to do.
with 255 galaxies, you kind of have to make your own endgame goal. sandbox life

Sometimes you can dig them out, sometimes they'll chase you and spawn above ground, sometimes you have to give up

Any tips for finding a swamp planet?
you could possibly try to locate paraffinium using catalog&guide, but that might hit other biomes too - or just focus on green star systems

yeah, any of those synonyms - but basically, a swamp biome planet will have 3 resources on the list, one of them will be either faecium, mordite (currently replaced by sulphurine because of a bug) or paraffinium, no plant resource on the list cc @broken vessel

Hey guys I'm having a strange issue today that I didnt have yesterday. For some reason things at a distance are VERY blurry as if theres a filter on or like my character needs glasses, to explain it another way. Anyone have an idea? Thought it was a bug.

personally i like to either buy dust/plates from t3 eco trade terminals/pilots, or just go ship mining. otoh, nutrient processor+one of the foods that gives +% resources mined+optical drill mt tech can make a single small rock drop 500 dust

the main storyline only goes up to red stars, yeah - then later on you got a secondary quest called in stellar multitudes that will unlock purple stars, and for that another hyperdrive color tech will be needed (atlantid drive). but no quest that does the same for green and blue.

do "paradise" planets ever have red worded weather?
i've honestly forgotten havent been on in awhile
paradise labeled body wont ever have storms - so they should never have red text weather
despite that, it can have localized weather events like electrical disturbance, but we think that shouldnt be allowed, because well, "paradise"

what do you unlock from completing the 16 16 16 questline
yeah, no red text on weather. pattern names like these will often be seen on paradise labeled bodies, but lots of lush biome bodies (star bulb on the list) dont have storms either and arent labeled "paradise". "paradise" is just a tell tale sign
goto discoveries/planet/fauna list, hit the nanite bonus reward button
I've been using "if has paraffinium" to determin if paradise, then weather itself on planet to determin if good paradise
just trying to find a paradisal settlement to upgrade in euclid
completing the main story will reward the player with an exosuit tech called remembrance (allows access to lore terminals, adds 1 char health point), and allow player a shortcut to another galaxy (warning: damage to installed tech and modules, can prepare to not get any damage at all) depending on what choice (though rn there's a bug that makes it impossible to complete the storyline that way) - but most importantly, it's a requirement to trigger other secondary quests that pretty much any player will want to unlock (e.g. purple star systems quest, in stellar multitudes)

nah, go for star bulb - paraf can be found in swamp as well, star bulb only on lush (avoid lush with "activated <stellar metal>" on the list. remember that you can locate star bulb using catalog

so look for lush that have star bulb but not activated* ?.. ok
to summarize:
- having star bulb on the list is a tell tale sign that you're looking at a lush biome body
- also having activated stellar metal on the list makes it more likely that that specific lush body has hazardous storms, so avoid those
- freighter scanner room can help after you get to a new system, but drill down into each planets individual view to hopefully make sure that you're seeing proper and correct info, but actually landing on the planet and using visor is pretty much always correct

yeah, these are weather pattern names of the lush biome, with the 3 degrees of intensity
tbf its quite a orange/blue planet, so might change anyhow
clear (none), normal ("normal", some), extreme (say "extreme storm" it storms on the hud, but not enough for storm crystals for example)
As a new player on day 3, how do I catch up to people that have been here for 10 years? What endgame items should I be aiming for?

- well built ship, multitool, personal suit (though u can have several of each ship/gun)
- maybe a frieghter (acts as mobile base)
- a settlement to catchup on side questing
- continuing main stories (atlas/artemis paths) get that over with
- atleast one efficient base, maybe more micro bases for mines/farms/ranches

yes if you sit in space ships will come out of hyperspace go on the big main one and tha would be it

a free freigther can be obtained via a protective pirate ship fight that randomly occurs after every 5 warp jumps and 3 hours afaik (running very old knowledge)

I loaded up my trade rocket with a bunch of stuff and sent it off like I have tons of times before. Nothing above or around it. It started to take off in the air and then shot straight into the ground and into a hole. Did I just lose all that stuff?
I just did my 15th jump into an outlaw black hole system, expecting a freighter battle but there was none. It works with jumps into other systems but not this one. What prevents the freighter battle? The system being outlaw or having a black hole?

If you are not satisfied with the color of a staff, simply go to another terminal (including the same planet), which will offer a different color for the same combination of pieces. The class is also determined by the terminal, which can range from C to S.
You can swap to different ones later if you want a better class or different look, but have to remove the tech you want to keep and all the items from the core inventory first.
The base part can be transferred.
Since the freighter bulkheads are hard to get id just wait to expand one until you have the one you want to keep.
It has a 3 hour played time on that combined with 5 warps between events.
yeah, I meet that requirement. As I said, I can trigger the battle by jumping into other systems but not this one.
Some outlaw and a few level 3 conflict systems can always spawn the dreadnaught battle when you warp into them in a ship however.
I don't own a freighter, so I probably won't trigger a Dreadnought showing up

just follow the instructions in the log andthe lower right corner; you'll be guided through the basics. as to the 15.6 rads, you are potected from environmental conditions when in your ship, so whatever blizzard or radiation or aything else do not impact you. when you are on the planet's surfce you'll need to provide for your hazard protection and life support.
the game will guide you as to that too.
is there any way to reset/delete a bugged "stranded life form" encounter quest? I did the quest and the npc got in the ship but didn't fly away, and the quest won't finish, and it's keeping me from scanning for any other crashed ships on the planet
seems the npc is just stuck in the ship and can't be interacted with
you could see if things are better after save-exit-reload, with any luck the quest will just terminate. ifnot, you could try going to a neighboring planet and back, see if that clears it

my frigate building area is glitched, i can't access it from my bridge without building a bulkhead door, but if i put a bulkhead door down, then the rails block me from walking in and i have to jump over it

I'd say check outlaw/pirate stations
there are safeguards against bringing friends to certain locked systems, but you should be able to see your friend if you both initiate multiplayer from the main menu

fight sentinels on foot until a walker spawns then kill it (you gotta manually take the brain from the corpse)

if you want combat help then the minotaur pilot will be conducive
the walkers are the big ones with no arms

if you don't mind doing it the easy way, bury a hole make a small opening under it and then you can just attack it like that
you could also use your ship to fight them, before the interceptors spawn. and they can't attack you in or on top of corvette

if you have the economy scanner, you can activate it from your ship tech slots then find a planetary outpost

Now that I finished the expedition, how do I get upgrades for my exocraft on my main save? Like how can I do the salvage missions on other planets? I found a planet that has salvage stuff but I don’t have the bed on my colossus

check your log, if you don't see it then you need to pick up a single piece of trash and recycle it to start the quest

the only multi-tools that you can build are voltaic staffs

all other types are purchased/exchanged

the only thing you get to customize is how it looks, by putting different pieces into the machine
"they who returned" is the quest for the autophage iirc, you'll need to do that

Gravitino Coil comes from Iteration: Eos aboard the Space Anomaly (installing it begins the tutorial mission that introduces waste processing/hauling). The new Colossus customization is unlocked from the titles you get for processing waste.
Eos doesn't have the Gravitino Coil

What's the secret to beating the pirate dreadnought before they kill the civilian
Destroy the fuel cells to lower it's health drastically
shoot out the engines, take out the cannons, you don't have to take out the shield
Or destroy it's anti-freighter cannons yeah
altho I've shot at the engines with no visual feedback telling me it's disabled

All of the methods described are really good, many recommend buying suspicious packets and selling the tech from them. Personally I use respawning curious deposits to get tons of runaway mold but that would take lots of trial and error to find a world that has them, nevermind a good patch of them and a refiner setup to process them efficiently in colossal quantities (freighter is amazing for that)
Is Freighter or Corvette best to bet on if I want to play NMS as a multiplayer with my friends? Like, they are my crew
Corvette definitely, as freighter bases font sync in multiplayer currently due to a bug
Also, you can't fly freighters in NMS, so you wouldn't really use it a lot
That bug really pisses me off, whats the point of having a fantastic layout if you friends just see the stock half dozen presets
You could do corvette missions together using a corvette, but I have heard that the mission boards for those have been buggy/might not sync due to a bug

not very hard, a planet can spawn only one 3star deposit type
as soon as you land you should be able to figure out if your planet has mold or not

I find the salvaged glass method to be easiest as I often pair whacking sentinels with something else I'm doing on a planet
or I need to do something that triggers sentinels so I go through disabling them to be able to do it in peace

does the orbital exocraft summoning system allow you to summon exocraft anywhere as long as the freighter is in range of your system or does it only work for the current system you're in?
the summoning system you place on the freighter only works when the freighter is in the same system, but it doesn't matter where in that system it is
you can also get an exosuit technology called the exocraft summoning unit which lets you summon your exocraft no matter what
there is an exosuit upgrade you unlock later, that require materials from purple systems to install, that will allow you to summon the exocrafts anywhere, at any time, regardless of where your freighter is, but "later" is the operative word there, due to having to unlock purple systems first (though I suspect you could be gifted the materials from another player)

i previously asked here that does the amount of living frigates correlate to the chance of living ship upgrades. I was told No. what about the expidation power? like if my combat (etc..) is 150?
as long as your fleet has enough stats to win the encounters it faces (and encounter types may not match expedition type), it will get loot. if it didnt, it would fail the encounter, depending on frigate type possibly damage (living frigates cannot be damaged)
in short, if you max out fleet scores across all 4 stats, you've pretty much got an invincible fleet - regardless of how many frigates you've assigned to it
freighter fleet upgrade modules can help a lot here
but if you have two stars more than the recommendation is, like if the difficulty is 3 stars and you have 5 isnt your fleet alreaydy invinsible then

well, not sure what kind of activities you like to do, but i've basically turned again to scanning for units, since the devs added nutrient ingestor exosuit tech and its buffs.

to get storage augs these days, i tend to still go with ship scrapping (low inventory a and s-class ships) and guild envoys
this might be quicker wtf what mods do i need? just the nutrient storage?
pirate systems are great, once pulled 4 s class ships in 10 mins

- 3 s-class visor upgrade modules, 1 of them supercharged

remember, make a list per system, of the names of the ships you scrapped, what class they were when you scrapped them, how many storage augs each droped - this is useful because the same ship, in the same class, will always drop the same number of storage augs
- when you scap like an s class ship you get alot of s class upgrades, which can be sold for grerat nanite profits too
so like two flys with one stone

not actually 100% sure what the correct term in english is, there is its own version on my motherstongue
primarily, guild envoy donating activity is separate from ship scrapping - if you get storage augs from scrapping, use them, dont donate to merchant guild. to level up guilds, there's plenty of other easy to get items that you can use: e.g. merchant/salvaged data, explorer/storm crystal
(i think it's usually "two birds with one stone", but there's probably variations)

hardframe body's only stat is "ai pilot"

dont have to manually insert files; think of a save file like a txt file with code in it - save editor just knows how to interpret, arrange, and display that info. modding in nms also doesnt need to overwrite or inject files, if they're in a certain folder they get loaded if they're not they dont; modding is more or less supported by the devs since they continue to allow it and even make small changes here and there for helping modders

yep, and after completing it, you'll be able to build more, there's lots of staff (prebuilt) parts that we can use
so i probably wouldnt worry too much about getting a "nice one" out of the quest

Given options for calling your ship, which is better to spend, launch fuel, or navigation data? (Just based on the abundance of resources on this planet, it might be launch fuel, but I'm not yet sure how useful or common navigation data is overall).
personally, i barely ever use nav data to summon my ships anymore, unless i'm specifically making it a part/a rule for my character. launch fuel is easy to craft, uranium can be easily obtained, launch auto-charger and launch thruster s-class modules all help keeping that maintenance cost to a minimum. i mostly keep nav data to exchange for charts when i need them

if you're not on survival mode, a grave marker should have been added to your hud after respawn - dont die again before retrieving grave contents

Early-mid game i found scrapping sentinel ships was my fastest income since they are liek 15-60m each. Now that I established some bases to collect resources, I make Stasis devices and can make a half billion to a billion units per day if I want

Was there an update that drastically increased the number of Settlement attacks? My settlements used to basically never get attacked, and since I restarted playing a week or so ago, it seems they are attacked constantly now
Just dont go to your settlement, then you dont need to worry.
nah not really. they even made it so settlement sentinel alert level is shared across all of our (up to) 4 settlemets
I have had like 3 vile brood attacks and 4-5 sentinel attcks (Dissonant Sentinels for all but one, which do not show up on radar and some were not moving, took forever to find sometimes) in the last 4-5 days

Pretty much all settlements start in the red, and you can pretty quickly get them profitable
all settlements start pretty bad, dont worry about it - if it's on a planet you like, take it. debt, maintenance costs: none of that is coming out of your pocket

With update 4.44, completion of the mission, A Trace of Metal is no longer required. A Settlement used to be needed -- except on Switch, where you'd have to trigger it by warping 25 times.
yeah, i guess we could say something like that. requires completing main story, going to a harmonic camp, it's not one that's available early on
personally, i try not to use these concepts - early/mid/end game - in NMS. mostly because, well, those notions are really blurry in nms. for example, we could say that stasis device farming is endgame, but once i have access to anomaly, i can easily stop everything else, and go setup a stasis device farm, when i havent even gone past ghosts in the machine. or ... i might have completed all the quests in the game and still be rocking a c-class ship.

it only resets negative standing, if you have it positive it doesn't do anything

Need to use it to complete the mission but you can get them again later by doing outlaw missions, and unless you go deep into negative standing with a race you won't really need one.
Hi, new here. I think I know the answer, and it's no, but IF i fit the furnace chassis to the colossus, does the waste that I throw into it count towards the other unlocks like the tyres, tracks etc?
The special scrap has to be hauled and sorted at the processing place, won't count with the furnace module.

do the colossus wheels act differently or are they just cosmetic?
They act slightly differently, the standard ones are better at turning but the tracks feel a bit more stable, the legs from the expedition are way more stable then anything else though
It's not a huge difference except for the legs

like a hauler has storage and a fighter can handle combat better
Same purpose as any other ship. Get you from A to B, and shoot things along the way if necessary
Any ship can be set up to do any task, and do it very well. Even a Hauler or Shuttle can outperform NPC ships really easily

Pretty much. The single most important thing for ships or tools is if you like them
Unlock it in the Anomaly or progress the secondary mission Expanding the Base until you unlock the Exocraft tech, then get it from them for free

I find i almost never use exo craft..is there a use you guys really love them for? Just normal surface stuff corvette seems more useful for travel. I do use the submarine if i have an underwater quest.
I rarely use mine, but I will do so for the new parts. They seem fun. Have had too much going on to dive in right now, unfortunately
When searching for corvette parts, I fly around in the nomad on a low-grav planet...

Are we not able to upgrade our suit inventory at space stations any more? I havent been able to interact with the upgrader at all, only with the merchant

You have to purchase a slot to be able to use that

Depending on how big you build them, they can function as a in-between, but yeah mostly regular ships with interiors

X can be better than S, but can also be worse than C-class. The real question is how much you are willing to buy, and reroll.
The range is quite big, where as S-class has a smaller range, but lower cieling than X
X is for minmaxing and burning nanites
S-class are always good, X-class has a small chance to be the best upgrades in the game
and a big chance of being worse than S
why is none of my power working im connecting multiple generators to power a cargo container but its not powering ive even tried using a electromagnetic thingy in a s tier zone?

Everything has to be contained within the same base radius

Max tech is 60 at S class. Max cargo depends on the ship type

Yes, unlock them in the Anomaly. Economy scanner is MUCH easier to install

there is often a time period where terrain is loading and you can't land. you should always be able to land on pads
i have a question, in the awakening missios at the start of the game im soft locked and cant get through can sm tp me to another galaxy cuz i cant get hyperdrive and i wont to reset the mission by going far away
Not in a corvette. There are no landing pads for the corvette

U instal all technology same way. U click on empty slot and chose what to instal from unlocked blueprints
You broke the mission by being in a group. Is the option there to reset the mission using nearby structures?

If you weren't in a group, everything you need for Awakenings will be in that same system you spawned in, including when you get your hyperdrive at the end of Awakenings
the thing is that i need to get hyperdrive blueprint but i lost the marker i think and rn i dont know where to look for it, i have no signs of it
Select Awakenings and look at the tooltip hint. It will tell you what you need to do

Delete your power wiring and place it again. Either your generator is really not doing anything (the image doesn't look right to me), or you're missing the wire connectors somewhere

I am helping you. In the main game screen, not the mission log, press H to cycle tooltips until you see the one for Awakenings. Look and see what that wants you to do

So you have overlapping bases, which brings me to the first point. Power cannot be transmitted between bases.
That's simply not possible. Bottom right hand corner is where the mission hints show

You can lower the weather effect in the settings. I'm also not sure what exactly you are showing in the picture. Where is your character? what were you doing at the time you went "blind"?
