the boltcaster have a very low DP, but it strengh is an insaly fast fire rate, precision, massive burst size and near instant reload
trust me, the boltcaster is probably one of the best weapon but it's not showing it
Yeah, about the only failing the Boltcaster has is small, nimble enemies that like to move in hard to predict manners in areas that already make trying to hit said small targets a pain
(Or in plain English, the space horrors on derelict freighters)
well i've tested it on the field, my projectiles became invisible lasers, lol
not really an ohko weapon like the neutron cannon tho

s rank mods are generally pretty strong out of the box but some weapon upgrades like boltcaster have more than 4 possible skills, on boltcaster u really want fire rate and damage up on all of them to make the biggest difference
but damage potential stat is pretty meaningless, neutron cannon shows way higher damage potential than it should for some reason so its not worth comparing damage potential of different weapon types
yeah it is strong, but not inherently higher dps than anything else. pulse spitter and boltcaster can shred super fast even tho the stat number doesnt look that high
ill be honest though, i have no idea what to do with the extra multitools, lol
extra tools? u can scrap them at the anomaly and maybe get multitool slot expansions

rn i got a general use staff with scatter blaster and plasma launcher cuz plasma launcher is hilarious to me, and i got a sentinel tool for dmg. workin on getting a cool atlantid just for fun, might switch off the staff
i usually set up hotspots instead of mining with tool so i havent bothered getting a good mining tool yet

btw, how do you hunt for atlantid?
after u do the autophage content u can find them at korvax system monoliths
same rules apply for location determining starting SC slot layout and saving and loading on planets changes what tool shows up

no there's a bunch per planet. the same monoliths with 3 knowledge stones that can lead u to portals. after finishing autophage mission there's a little thing on the side that'll pop up, put in some atlantidium and u can get an atlantid tool for some nanites
exocraft radar can lead u to them

Do Atlantid mts ever have the damage potential of the staff or sentinel weapons? I’ve found a really nice s class one with good sc slots but it’s DP is way below my staff and sentinel weapons

atlantid has a lower bonus to weapons, but I wouldnt worry too much about damage potential stat, its pretty meaningless (neutron cannon shows higher damage than it should). if u do just wanna make number bigger then neutron cannon on sentinel tool/staff will show a ridiculous number, but something like atlantid with pulse spitter can still be very strong dps even tho the displayed damage potential is way lower

Thanks for the info. Was also reading above and had no idea that the runic laser could stack with the standard mining laser. Can I ask, what is a “core” technology? Any crafted one or just the absolute base fire type (ie scatterblaster, boltcaster etc).
And big numbers always means more gooder 🤣
core technology is the piece that gets buffed by the random upgrades and the blueprint upgrades, so the weapons themselves but also mining beam and runic laser would both count as "core" tech

And omg, have I been wasting slots? The sentinel upgrades only buff the boltcaster?
they do only affect the boltcaster, i wish it was more clear about that in game
if they boosted all weapons thatd be pretty funny, idk what the intention of them is

i believe that does apply to tools also, but its just that natural S has a chance to roll higher stats than an upgraded S could roll at best, but it isn't entirely guaranteed to be better

There are no nanite multi tools, maybe you mean the Atlantis ones cause you pay nanites to get them
i wonder, how does adjacency bonus work exactly?
for instance in that mining cell, i have two supercharged slots to the left and right of the mining laser, is it better to put the lasers and runic lens or the upgrades?
Start with unlocking 4th row to see where 4th SC slot is
If it's below any of the existing SC slots, then you want to put both Runic Lens and Mining Beam in the adjacent SC slots
Then surround them with rest of the modules like on the infographic

Sorry I just noticed your post. So you want to find an "awesome one", as in another voltaic staff?
I'm not very knowledgeable on this topic but based on past chat history in this channel, this was someone's recommendation for farming an s-class voltaic:
By checking the Concentric Ring head in Staff Assembly at terminal after terminal until you hit an S - highly recommend using T3 Regulated systems only for this.

Hopefully someone else can help provide additional insight later, if you have further questions.
buy the parts you like (a terminal will only have some staff parts, you may need to check multiple terminals for them, see the pin red linked)
then using those parts, go around different terminals, class and colouring changes with the terminal, you can check, try another camp's terminal,check again, until you see something you like, you can hunt for good natural class, or upgrade it later, as red said, a higher economy will give you better chances when it comes to class

afterwards, you can buy staff parts (see #nms-multitools message ) with void motes (gotten from doing quests with the autophage) and assemble those at an autophage terminal

Multitool Tech Layout
This is just an example of adjacency and supercharged slots. Note that supercharging bonuses always beats adjacency bonuses. Therefore, to maximize tech stats, split apart tech to utilize supercharged slots, as they will yield superior results over maintaining perfect adjacency.

With multitools, its a good idea to also put which planet or station is needed to reload on to get that design. Reloading saves on different planets will give a different skin for the same mt box

How can i do It properly, i have a to on the Planet i know there is the tool, if i tp to that Planet i get that design? Or i can tp, go to other Planet, reload and come back?
pick a planet or station, exit ship to make a save, reload save then fly to mt box and see which design it is
It doesnt matter if ive been in the other planets, right? Reloading change the design
its the 1 you reload on, or station
so if system has 6 planets/moons, that means there are 7 potential different designs of multitool for that box, with 6 planets/moon + 1 station

What type of multi has the highest DMG potential? My A class rifle outperforms my S staff with similar supercharged slots and neutron upgrades. Why?
Was working on getting my staff until 4 am last night, my first roll was a C class so I wasn’t going to bed till I at least got an A class but at the third station I ended up getting an S class staff
staff and sentinel are tied for highest. outperforming is due to other factors

i think you can calculate the base stat by taking off all tech except for the unremovable ones, then subtracting those, not sure how exactly that works though

All mt types are ok and will do fine in any role . It maters only when u want to squize out its max potential
also sentinel tools u can install regular mining beam along with the hijacked laser to have extra good double mining laser
If you want a strong mining tool get an Atlantid mt for starters. Then stack a mining tool (crafted) next to its innate mining tool. Check the nexus for craftable upgrades then seek out s class modules at space station (3).
You obv want to aim for an innately s class atlantid MT with good SC slots
You will have a mining tool that will melt mineable nodes as well as worm spawn. Not great against sentinels.
Atlantids multitools have the highest potential mining bonus for all mts. Not great for combat (outside of worm spawn for some reason which it just deletes) but for resource mining it’s ridiculous. You’ll strip whole groves of trees and rocky outcrops in seconds. Finally those are also, objectively the coolest looking tools as they look like forerunner weapons from halo.

No, it's a module you add to any existing multitool. Buy it from the Multitool vendor at the space anomaly.
You will also likely want the skiff and the trap - suit vendor and construction terminal respectively
Why is that pulse spitter not charging? It’ll charge if I put it in the turbo charge slot but I lose out on a lot of damage
that's the impact igniter, it doesnt get adjacency bonus even if u supercharge it. it'd probably be better to supercharge the pulse spitter itself, have the 2 mods adjacent to the base tech, and it doesnt matter where u put impact igniter
and u can have 2 more S class mods too

Max is around 200k
With max modules and best sc slot layout and natural S class u can get to around 190k. To get higher u would need to use save edit to view stats not visible for the player.

With 2 adjacent powered slots and the neutron cannon I get 30k damage potential
And yes I know I'd get more damage from Sentinel or staff but I don't like how those look tbh
Hi, I just started playing. Can anyone tell me what the best multi-tool is and where to get it?
There's not really a best multi tool but you want an S Class one. Warp to high economy systems and you have a higher chance of finding them there on the space station. I recommend going to the Anomaly and learning the Economy Scanner which will reveal three star economies on your starship's Galaxy map.
There’s also installable tech you can get from the anomaly that won’t clash with the upgrade modules that will boost stats.
They’re great for mining nodes obv and can be very high damage against very specific enemies. They absolutely melt worm spawn. Otherwise they’re rubbish for combat. Much better to go with a sentinel or staff MT with the neutron cannon if you just want to destroy stuff, esp if you use paralysis mortar and the voltaic amplifier.
It’s actually a terrible shame Atlantid weapons aren’t better bc they are objectively the coolest looking weapons in the game
you can install the regular mining beam along with the runic lens to have it be very good for mining
upgrades matter way more than anything else, it'll be lower damage than a sentinel or staff tool but you can upgrade them to be strong enough that the difference is barely noticeable

Yeah, I know what you mean, but by the same token one tapping an abomination versus two tapping is noticeable.
I don't have an atlantid built for NC but im pretty sure you could get one that 1 shots horrors and sentinels, certainly harder tho. but yea, worth considering for neutron cannon at least
but atlantids have equal damage stat range to rifles, lower than staves and sentinel tools but still not bad
Gray or blue/gold S class royal multitool in Euclid. I left a small base at the pillar I got it from (reload to change color; it was gray first for me), although I think any pillar on the planet will work (I just don't know if it'll keep the class and super charged slots).
(yea other pillars would have different class and starting slots but same designs)

Every multitool is more than viable with class and module upgrades. Pick the ones you like the looks of and don't worry about anything else

theres no real important difference, its killing a enemy in 0.9 seconds instead of 0.8 and 0.7 of those are the bullet travel times

it'd almost certainly be faster to get nanites to upgrade than it would be to find a similar design in a higher class, so if ur attached to the design then upgrading is good, otherwise yea u can hold out for a higher class terminal somewhere
if u do find an S class cabinet then you can save and reload on a planet then go back and check the cabinet and each planet u reload on will make a different design show up at the cabinet

Nm, seems better to use sc slots for upgrade mods and runic lense camo no better in sc slot
General wisdom is supercharge core tech for weapons, supercharge upgrades for the others
there are some exceptions to it like Neutron cannon. but that's generally the rule.
Super charging runic lens or mining beam work too
Although if you install your regular mining beam adjacent to runic lens, you don't really need to supercharge it, it will be pretty powerful and run cool.

You can get both unless your registry is full then you can switch to one you don't like and trade. Yes it will give it all installed tech so make sure to remove that

Ur weapon can reach that big damage if you have the other Shooting module, like Scatter Blaster, Neutron Cannon, Pulse Spitter
You can Package that Pulse Spitter and install it to ur main weapon

Current tech inventory also factors in, albeit differently depending if multi-tool or starship.
- On multi-tool, only the strongest weapon system installed is included;
- On starship, all installed weapon systems are included.

Change the way you're grouping your tech modules to be clusters where the directly connected faces of the square of the core tech is surrounded by your strongest upgrade modules and put your strongest weapon on the cluster of supercharged slots that has the most you can hit with one weapon

Your save file can hold a certain number of player actions and as you play you will eventually "push out" the action of taking that multitool and when you come back it'll spawn again

Well, this was a reward for one of this year's expeditions, so the rerun of that will be in a couple months. As for the alternative methods... there are ways to edit your save file to make the game think you done expeditions (although that means you do need to be able to get at your save from a PC), PC has ways to allow you to rerun past expeditions at any time, and as long as you're not playing on Switch, the Service Bot is (in theory) an option

Good news is that if you got it before, or get it in the upcoming rerun, then you have access to it for good, as the game keeps track of expedition rewards you've unlocked so you can claim them in new saves

Alien and Experimental multitools can show up on stations, but it's kinda rare. For the other 4 types... Royal multitools sometimes show up in the multitool cabinet at Sentinel Pillars, Sentinel multitools are available after undoing the lockdown at a Harmonic Camp, Atlantid multitools are available from monoliths in Korvax systems after doing an early part of Those Who Remain, and Voltaic Staffs are assembled at a Autophage camp from parts you acquire at Autophage camps

whatever you enjoy. my favorite is pulse spitter, it shoots fast af and can have crazy DPS, neutron cannon is very strong, and can get the highest damage potential number (even tho damage potential means nothing about DPS). the other weapons are fun too tho
I use the blazing lance with neutron and I have the tek that gives me increased dmg to stunned enemies
doesn't that come with runic lens? might as well install both, except i think it does change your laser color. it'll make it way better for mining tho

for exosuit im probably not the best to ask, i just use all 3 SC slots for jetpack upgrades lol, and i like only having 1 of each hazard protection upgrade so i have less stuff to scroll through and recharge. but yours looks pretty neat actually, u could move the life support closer to its upgrades is the 1 thing i notice. for upgrades to get next, you could get illegal hazard protection mods which are available only as X rank and can give resist to all elements, u could also have more sentinel exosuit upgrades and youll be able to get 3 autophage upgrades once ur through the echoes content

#nms-multitools message that should be Atlantid MT, and this is how to get em 
if by "best" u mean highest damage then staff and sentinel have the highest possible damage. atlantid tools are good for mining but any tool can be upgraded to be incredibly strong, so u can use whatever you like most
then staff/sentinel tool with SC like this boosting neutron cannon has the biggest number, other weapon types can get higher DPS but the damage potential stat number will be lower

Make sure to disable the Multiplayer first, then go to the planet of the design that you want, and Reload Save there, and go to the Monolith on the where you portaled (there's a comm ball)

just go thru the tech u could install and install the ones you would use. voltaic amp + paralysis mortar always good, if you want it to general use then put on all the general use stuff and upgrades for everything, otherwise just put on the tech you wanna use the tool for and dont worry about stuff you dont need. there's no mutually exclusive stuff and multitools have plenty of slots so use as much or as little as u want

You might have accidentally changed it into an atlantid multitool. When you purchase an atlantid, you cant opt out of exchanging, so you have to exchange a multitool if you want to receive the atlantid multitool
