Oh yeah I forgot one more annoying one: Pretty much every time I land at a building with the save/chart interactible thing, which usually has a few containers around it, several of them aren't interactible unless I reload the game. Sometimes you can find a weird angle to interact with, but most of the time it's just no dice until a reload. Super annoying lol. Is that a common/known one too?
Before you attack them you can see if they have inverted mirrors or echo locators

main storyline missions are able to temporarily change the planet you get sent to - as in, literally, not the same biome, full change exotification cc @stuck berry
if you try portaling afterwards into those temp locations, you'll just get a diff planet

nah, it was years ago, but has been tested by me and others too - both using locations "we've been to" via quest personally, and that others been to via their own quests
in short, you can portal into the address just fine, just that the planet wont be the same, not even of the same biome subtype

Guilds are regional. Expand the system info card on the galaxy map and look for a different region, travel there and look at the guild. Repeat if necessary
is warping with freigter now safe? if i recall correcty there was once a bug with it that could have deleted something

Look below the system name. It literally says what region you're currently in. Cursor over system to system until you find a different one

i have this door in my base and i was wondering, why i could connect the door to the power. i connected it and now its like locked. i bet it will open again if i disconnect the wire. is there another way to open it / auto open and close the door?
if you havent reasearchd yet. get the power inverter and proximity switchg
you need to use some kind of switch to flip power on/off when you want to open it, there's several options for it

so 2 has no poewr if 3 the direction is switched on

There are hundreds of Autophage camps per planet. Trial and error would probably be faster, or farming the 85k nanites and just look for color. 85k nanites can be gotten in no time

The former is an issue affecting all players mostly, introduced in 6.00. The latter issue may be due to the base not being finished downloading yet for them, you most likely had never uploaded the base yet which makes it download for others almost instantly

this is a scripted encounter that happens every once in a while, if you don't take it then you will be offered another in the future after defeating pirates, the next may have better stats

you don't need it at any point if you don't want it so to say, you can finish the main story without one
if you see an A class freighter you should take it, as freighters are very useful for storing containers and you can get an upgrade to access all 8 storage containers from anywhere in the system if it's summoned

your log can sort nearby systems by dominant race, otherwise you can check the portal card
bottom right gives you the race icon
for that quest though as long as it's selected you should be prompted to the station

Im trying to get an A/S class capitol freighter but I don't know how to stop my manual restore point I place in the previous system from being overwritten when I get out of my ship after the fight to check the freighter class. It allows you to link multiple accounts together. After doing so, an option will become available in-game to upload saves to the cloud, which enables you to download them on other platforms (after which they'll automatically be kept up to date/synced with the cloud copy)

I saw people had normal upgrades on their corvette and something about a glitch with adding them so I tried to build my corvette small and then add all the parts after adding in my upgrades with only a few parts in there. When I finished building the whole thing 90% of the mods are missing. Are they just gone forever?

Corvettes are definitely not Freighters, Corvettes are not StarShips, the three have different purposes, Corvette can be a Taxi, the others cannot.. a Frieghter can be a Base, the others cannot..

How many POIs are on a Planet or Moon, are they continuously generated to infinity or a certain or random number..?
And of the POIs are there a certain amount of each type and they are finite, or is there a big pool that all the POIs are drawn from, and as i use Maps they're created from that pool, so potentially i could search a long time for a certain POI and most of the pool would become those certain type POIs..

we can never "create" structures
if you had traveled to the coordinates that the structure was at before you marked it, it'd still be there and be identical to how it would have been if you marked it

in my experience, at least some of the waste will regenerate. usually the basic waste, not specialty waste

Just do a backup first, and keep it for several months..!
Basically just find any freighter with the color you like, claim it on another save, then see what it's "home seed" is, which determines the color, then paste that into your main save's field for that
So 2 things what happens if happiness in a settlement reaches 0 and what are ways to improve it while you wait for construction and policy stuff

Lush and Empty galaxies just have different biome probabilities in their yellow systems #nms-questions message
"Normal" galaxies have identical chances for stuff as Euclid Galaxy
and harsh galaxies have more aggressive sentinels and extreme storms on their worlds, across all types of systems

If you paste that into the "Home Seed", then save, your freighter should match the colors of that red sentinel freighter

It's after you have encountered two freighter rescue events so far, so third and onwards
But those events trigger every five jumps plus the playtime cooldown, no?

The cooldown consists of 3 hours of unpaused gameplay and 5 warps, after both are met, your next warp triggers a battle
If the 5th warp is the final thing to qualify for your next battle, that 5th warp triggers the battle
I just saved my first freighter but it's not a capital one and a design I don't want. I thought I'll see the next event (the second freighter rescue) after another five jumps
Well it's not a flat 5 jumps, 5 warps is just one aspect of the cooldown
You could warp 324893647859 times within 3 hours and the 3 hours part would hold you back

Wrong, well describing it in a weird way. You can encounter freighters passively in space, which could make the wording confusing. Only your first two freighter rescue events count towards unlocking capital freighters, encountering freighters in space randomly doesn't help

Each system has 3 "system freighter" designs and one "capital freighter" design (as well as a pirate dreadnought design if it has those and you qualify for those, but those have very little variation)

Oh I was more referring to the interior area of the freighter not rendering correctly for other players. Like it never looks like how you built it.

There are some issues with the tutorial with multiplayer, but starting it together hasn't had problems ime
one player can start the game alone in their save and the other player can join, and create a save by joining to start out in the exact same spot
So we won’t have issues. How does it work in terms of the starting ship or does it convert to a two man ?
The missions/objectives won't sync or anything, and your ships will just be next to each other

base computer archives, expanding the base, the base crew missions - those can unlock some of what you have available to "rush" in the anomaly. some techs are quest only - e.g. remembrance, star seed, the minotaur hardframe techs, atlantid drive, resonance matrix. in short, imo, if you want to have techs you see in the anomaly now, go for it.
I just have the constant warping to the base computer mission but I’ve done all the expand the base missions

ime, often one can find plants closer than that - it could even be a plant you've been to recently (these stay marked on compass/visor, if still in the same session), if all you need is to process stuff
alternatively, could also try to save+restart game, to clear session markers, and then try again to exocraft radar scan
i'd suggest having multiplayer disabled if you still have it enabled (if you're in expedition especially)

you need to go to a waste processing plant and tossin one piece of scrap

the legs are an expedition reward, you'll have those already
They're just another kind of freighter. All freighter types are functionally identical in stat ranges and usefulness
I think the cabin might also be an expd special in which case you'll have that too
getting the gravity coil and the flatbedare not special to the expedition, they are just part of the industrial waste mission so you do have to repeat those for each save
im asking if need to do the same in main save to get the flatbed....
The asymmetrical cabin is a reward from the expedition yes same with the legs

to get the flatbed you must do the industrial waste mission, for any save: find a waste processing plant (place colussus, install scanner + upgrades, scan for it); interact with control panel to get gravity coil plans;l install that; toss one scrap into the fire.
that 1 piece of scrap then unlocks the flatbed

A pirate hunt lead me to some space debris. I left my ship to investigate. After getting back in, I can't get back into the pilot seat as I'm still stuck in 0G mode. What do I do?
Fly away and summon your ship to rescue you using the quick menu

not a question more of a suggestion I love nms have played it since I could only play with myself and in all the years ive played ive thought it would be realy cool if we had some sort of enemy to fight I know we have some enemies and pirates in space but there's not enough on planet I suggest having pirate bases and pirate patrols that are walking around "collecting" resources and if you stumble across them they engage you instantly unless you have max rep with pirates

Question, if I put a technology (ex. The actual Deflector Shield Tech) does that change the stats like it would with an upgrade like putting a weapon in it changing the dps?
If you're referring to placing technology in a supercharged slot, placing upgrades tends to be better for most types of technology except nearly all weapons.
You can compare the numbers for yourself though and see this too

You are supposed to see other players in the Space Anomaly at all times, if Multiplayer is enabled in Options > Network

They cannot use Portals at all, but they have full access to Teleporters to reach any bases they have previously constructed or space stations they have reached
You could instead use a portal, then have them join you at the destination via multiplayer
When you join another player using multiplayer, you are transported to the star system that they are in.
I couldn't do this with my friend. He appears in the game friend list, he's added on psn but I can't join him

you should be able inside the corvette pull up the build menu and see any interior decorations, I can't say if that's possible on the switch but that's how you would do it

Good morning travelers! I came back to NMS to check out the new updates and build myself a Corvette, but I noticed some pieces like the Aero parts are locked behind expeditions. Does anyway know if there is still a way for me to acquire those pieces?
Unless they Redux it? No. But if you're on PC, you can always use Mods.
Sometimes the do reruns of past expeditions, but that's about it.
Imo the only real problem with the game is literally this .. Timed exclusive rewards. It sucks.

You can save edit or mod in access to any expedition rewards you missed if you're on PC. You could also try asking in #nms-lfg-or-trades if someone is willing to give you some pieces.
This is a big turnoff for me to be honest, I just read that it might take another year for the pieces to come back in rotation, if they come back at all. That means I probably can't build any of the ships I want. What a bummer!

It is highly unlikely that they will come back into rotation next year. That hasn't been the pattern with expeditions so far. So if you want them you'll have to get them some other way, like I mentioned above.

Get the NMS assistant App, its a life saver. Better than wiki and sht that's filled with ads usually and has the same info all in one place.
Storage, SC slots and class bonuses. So yess in the end it increases the stats.
Stats, SC slots and limits the maximum amount of slots you can unlock for them (like Tech and Cargo slots) but it's not a make or break sort of thing.
Game kinda scales enemy ships to your ship strength and ground enemies are scaled to your multitool strenght

I'm a new PC player, I reached Anomaly and I don't see any other players. I was also unable to connect with my friends a few days ago. My Online Discovery Services are active. The multiplayer is enabled. The firewall settings say that both Steam and NMS are allowed for Public and Private. I don't understand what the issue is.
Try to call it in the anomaly. It used to work like a year ago last time I tried. It even repaired the necessary things automatically.
But if it's patched since .. Than you have to do it on your Freighter

a synonym for weird aka exotic and RGB aka mega exotic biomes, check !faq-biomes in #nms-commands for more infos. (best way to identify biomes is through their resource list, with the presence of a specific resource and/or lacking one e.g. all weird aka exotic biome planets have gold on resource list, regardless of synonym (or subtype)

Is there any sort of support for bases that get griefed by changed world generation? My partner and I built our first curious deposit base on the planet Bawtrygg XVI (Chromatic Fog one of the weekend bonus quicksilver planets) and when I returned to it today there's a giant undeleteable tree through our base and the curious deposits are gone.

We put a lot of time and resources into building this including a second base that we linked together with underground tunnels and now it's all inaccessible 🙁

I quit and reloaded a save next to the base, the gigantic tree is still growing through the middle of the base, my only recourse seems to be to use a base deconstruction kit to recover resources and spend the three hours building both bases again 🙁
you can switch between available weapons like you do with a multitool
i measn when its in autopilot mode, even if i have selected the cannon it shoot the laser
Why would hello games tweak the procedural generation for a planet like that, I'm guessing everyone that built bases (and there were hundreds) got screwed over

afaik, no patch notes were done towards or affecting terrain generation shapes and assets in recent updates, so it must have been something else at play here
I mean people went nuts on that planet during the weekend quicksilver event, literally hundreds of bases were built there because it was really close to the core, the system had activated indium and loads of curious deposits.

you're depending pretty hard on RNG to generate those missions
to be clear, on deliver x amount of resource type missions, it's intended that you actually need to go turn the resources in to the lockbox (usually a trade outpost terminal)

You buy your first from the anomaly, but to get psychonic eggs you need to have the dream aerial blueprint from doing freighter expeditions, build that then pulse drive to encounter a living frigate.

well, about the curious deposits, like i said, them being removed is a very recent bug, and there's already a fix for that, and perhaps that's exactly the bug that affected the area that base is in: you had curio deposit cluster there, it got removed, and replaced by that object

try adjusting your quicksilver purchase filters, the last one with the fewest options has it

You can trade lower value relics at the giant library buildings for a chance at a more valuable relic
either sell, donate to explorer guild envoy for standing, or exchange at planetary archive artifact vaults (for an item of the same type, equal or higher rarity, but not always of higher value)
For my base I guess I'll wait for the full patch to drop then, not sure I want my partner and myself to both go on experimental updates

Okay looked into it. It's ill-advised to follow the steps provided as it "might" work (if the evaluated issue is a mac problem and not an NMS problem), however, it disables a major security feature.

And seeing at the status of current NMS updates and patches (as well as the number of reports of similar issues), I doubt it's a mac sided issue but rather a NMS File compatibility issue.

Does anyone have a link to any good defacto fixes for frame drop issues due to odd vulcan swapchain issues? I'm hoping I'm allowed to link to what I've found so far here that I made on steam discussions, but even with all this sometimes I still run into drastic frame drops yet more intensive games work fine. That underwater base mission in anomaly is painful to me, I never tried the underwater stuff
But as a streamer I need to be able to click out of the game to turn on or off my stream and recording (and the issues happen even if OBS is closed).

What graphics setting affects loading distance (if any)? Like, is there a setting which will let me see things from further away?
There never is anything in the shader cache BTW, but it seems to deleting the "TKGAMESETTINGS" and "TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS"
tends to do the trick if it's acting up, but it seems to only last only a single launch
look for a crash dump file (pinging you in the #964865106334875698 ), post it there if you have one. run dxdiag.exe , ignore driver signatures, press save all, attach resulting txt file in the same thread please
planet quality will improve the quality of things drawn further from you as well as increasing render distance, but your antialias option can also play a role
yep I changed the profile for NMS in nvidia to
Prefer layered on DXGI swapchain
and
Windows → Processor scheduling → Background services
And turned the low latency off
what about if you dont use background services but instead applications/foreground, but keep the rest
Well the chain swap setting alone didn't seem to fix the issue, so I changed the prirotiy to background which seemed to help, but honestly it seems that it's still pretty random when it decides to drop to a slideshow. Yet I'll quit the game and load up something even more intense like Horizon Forbidden West on maxed settings and run at 200+ FPS
Would having antialiasing off help, or hurt, my ability to see things?

If you have a NVIDIA card capable of DLSS turning that on and setting it to performance helps immensely
Anti-Aliasing is a technology that blends square pixels, without it the edges of 3d objects look jagged
Does setting it to performance matter on a 1080p display?
DLSS performance uses more AI techniques with the CUDA cores to render rather than raw number crunching so it saves quite a bit of resources

not sure if antialias turned off makes any difference - note that i'm not thinking of fps/performance, just quality and render distance - i never have it off. seems to be that planet quality controls render distance, and antialias can affect the quality of those assets - for example, fsr2 performance makes trees half a km away look low resolution, too much so, while fsr2 quality actually makes them look like trees. another thing i wanted to mention is the planet you're on also affects it - if you're on a dense planet (lots of grass everywhere, lots of trees and rocks, animals, etc), your render distance will be automatically lowered and there's nothing you can do about that - that's just the game's engine.

i even thrown all my void mote i had and farmed 4k agaoin still the same =.=
i wouldnt be able to compare the two games for the simple fact that 1) diff engines, hzd doesnt use vulkan either 2) diff games, hard to use this for a fair comparison. that said, i'm not an expert on this issue, i'd have to go and do some more research on how the whole thing works together on windows

What settings your using in this latest patch, every time I change settings to lower, the fps tanks below 10 fps, only way to fix is restart or alt+f4.

well that and considering that I'll easily hit my FPS cap in NMS even on FSR 2x rendering (180FPS) most of the time and then this bug hits and it drops to 90, then 60, then 30 etc
i've seen another player reporting this that when they change graphics settings at all, game performance tanks - only full game restart recovers performance, but then it's completely fine.

And when the bug hits I'll try all sorts of things turn the quality way down to low settings, change to DLSS performance etc and it makes no difference to the FPS.
and if you simply restart game, it works again?
but getting the right settings is key, Nvidia App optimization is useless.

well, like i said, that might be a bug with the game; alternatively, thinking a bit more about it, could even be a windows update or a driver version

Yeah it likely is a NMS issue because it uses Vulkan which is way different

@elfin urchin it's most likely a bug with the game, since i've seen another player yesterday with the same issue. i understand that it is a pain while you're trying to figure out perfect settings for your machine, but i'd suggest raising a bug report to the devs so that they can take a look at it. and lol, i'm not defending devs, i'm simply stating what's well known - programs arent all made the same, they dont use resources the same way etc.
note that his issue isn't the tanking on tabbing out for example
his issue is specifically tanking after applying new graphics settings, fully resolved with game restart
mine drops even when I'm not tabbing out too so it's still likely to help
Ah well I don't think there's a fix for that, the way the engine works you do kinda have to reboot the game when you make changes
portals cant take you to addresses in different galaxies - and portals never damage tech

swap to a junk multitool and ship and remove exosuit upgrades to prevent damage there then yes that works
it's cool man you can ask, we all have different ways of answering, just make sure you change nvidia control panel settings just for NMS, so a profile for that game specifically for the vulkan swapchain changes
i just should have said that we've tried plenty of things to get past that current issue and nothing that we tried worked (we didnt try that dxgi swapchain option though iirc), so i was literally trying to save you the trouble of trying steps that wont fix the issue.
But anything more than minor tweaks to settings, like changing AA method or other big changes it's still usually best to just reboot the game
if anything, i was defending how to do proper comparisons between games lol

either craft it or refine it; crafting requires resources and the blueprint; refining does not; blueprint can be unlocked from anomaly synthesis laboratory or expanding the base secondary mission iirc or just refine silicate powder

Thats was a fix for a some players :
Going to System Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> scrolling all the way down and checking to see if the No Man's Sky app has been prevented from opening - and allowing it to be opened anyway fixed it for me.

how do you get an exocraft?
you'll be able to unlock all of them for free by progressing various quests and missions, but you can also unlock them (i.e. their geobays) with salvaged data from the anomaly when you have access to it

It depends but typically Exotics
since geobays are base parts, that's where you'll find them. exocraft tech blueprints can be unlocked by talking to the exocraft research npc in the same room in the anomaly

Could someone explain me what's the most efficient storage container setup? I watched several YT tutorials about this. Mostly I understand the system what's not clear is how couldnI achieve when I send an item to my storage it would go to the specific stack in given category.
Exotic ships are all rounders that you cannot go wrong with
even the "worst" ship, with tech and upgrade modules and supercharged slots, can become OP and deal with anything in the game; additionally, we can package isntalled tech and modules to move to a diff ship when we want to change, so honestly just own what you love the looks of - in the end, anything works.
in short, this system cant be made to work 100% because the game sometimes ignores stacks in storage containers/room that arent storage cointainer/room 0, depending on which items even
ideally, devs will have to expand the current system, or just patch it to work 100%

So if I fill storage "0" with items that are like rare and barely used so there won't be any place left in it and the rest of the containers are categorised well ..when I'm sending items they would gobto the corresponding slots?

i was just thinking about this yeah lol - in that case, iirc it will try the next one that has an available slot. but again, this depends on items, and now that i think about it, even the size of the stacks that were already stored mattered for when item>quick transfer

Yeah the storage system definitely needs some improvement then. I'm 2 weeks into the game and not handling much stuff still already feels like it's getting chaotic and tedious to manage stuff

i'd clear starbirth and track a black hole, and the fossil tutorial, as well as freighter command to get them off the log. then goto catalog&guide, collected knowledge, on the left do you see autophage? if not, then type !faq-purplesystems in #nms-commands , start from step 3
