If you use a Save Editor, you might as well expand all the freighter inventories to the max, and increase all its stats, and add good modules. That makes more difference than changing the class

You can't directly change the damage potential, but you can change the damage bonus that multiplies it
You can increase the damage bonus of a ship to whatever you wish I think, though it may be buggy going far above the intended values (fighters normally have the highest damage bonus ceiling at 90)
It's impact is what you make it, like if you add more damage bonus then you will do more damage
There are no consequences to doing so, besides any side effects from going above intended limits

Which saves the changes to the specific save it has selected (autosave and restore point are different saves)
The odd numbered save is the autosave, while the even numbered save is the restore point
NMSSE will automatically begin editing the newer one of the two, so if you did all this with the game closed then you don't have to worry about which one to load

Yes, you are able to add or remove supercharged slots to your exosuit, starship, freighter and multi-tool
Home seed is the seed of a freighter's crew I believe, while the model seed is the seed for the freighter model

By selecting the technology inventory of the freighter, and right-clicking slots to modify them

No such thing as removing a limit, there's always a limit of some sort.

Yo anybody have any idea why a shader mod won't load the shaders? I've enabled the mod use in the txt file and it says mods are active when I load the game but it doesn't activate?

Its not a shader mod
It's a ReShade preset
It's digital equivalent of a cloth hanged over the monitor to change perceived image
Look up how to use the ReShade program and load that preset in

my game crashed and did this after i tried a new mod so how exactly do i re-enable the mods that weren't doing shit
It tells you how to do so right there, go to No Man's Sky\Binaries\SETTINGS\GCMODSETTINGS.MXML and either change "DisableAllMods" to false or delete the entire file and let the game rebuild it on startup which would do the same thing
so i have to delete this and then the game will create this document again WITHOUT my corrupt mod right
You have to delete or disable the broken mod yourself, it won't do it automatically
It will not remove your "corrupt mod", you would need to remove that manually from the MODS folder, or change the mod's "Enabled" to false in the new GCMODSETTINGS.MXML file

The game crash may not have even been because of one of your mods, the game blames any crash on mods being installed so it's probably fine

you remove the mod by removing the mod
if you go to your MODS folder and sort it by date you should be able to see which is the oldest and thus most likely to be causing issues
you can also always just post your MODS folder whenever you encounter an issue #nms-modding message

nope, devs wont care. devs would only care if you disturbed or messed with other players freedoms
Something to keep in mind with NomNom. If you add items to your inventory, add them to empty slots. Trying to edit or change things in inventory causes it to bug out, and trying to mess with equipment will show them to be "obsolete" when you load back in game, forcing you to remove them and build or install new ones. I think it's not quite up-to-date or something.

I don't think it will let you go over the max in a single slot.

I don't know what that is, sorry. I don't run many mods. Only needed NomNom for a couple things. (Re-unlocking Expedition rewards I earned but which didn't transfer when I switched PCs for some reason.)

Did it find your save files and everything? If it's able to auto-detect them they should show up in the center of the screen. Bottom one should be your most recent. After clicking on it then click on "Edit Save" in the window on the left, then you'll see a variety of tabs, etc.
To add an item right-click in an empty inventory space.

Need to be more specific. I don't know that there is any folder for that. Do you want th elanguage file entries maybe? I'm not sure what would accomplish what you want
Basically, the sound files for exosuit voices in a zip folder or something like that. Just want to hear all of them. If necessary I can verify I own the game or get assistance with data mining it myself
Check the files listed here. This silences almost all voice lines, but you can use the file names to figure out the vanilla files. It does miss a couple of lines that were added since the mod was made, but covers 95%+ of stuff

...and not really a data mining thing. Only way to be 100% certain of getting ALL the Exosuit voice files is to listen to every single WEM and BNK in the game, as the indexing isn't complete.

They're all WEM files, which I think most decent audio players can handle. Most of the audio files are WEM packed inside BNK files, but almost all of the suit files are just loose WEM, so they are easier to work with. BNK files have been a pain in the butt for me in the past, but I didn't put much time into it

so i decided to delete my vortex profile for no mans sky because i wasn't using it and it does not have anything in it, but when i read the warning it said that it will also delete any associated save games. i do want confirmation if its safe to do so

When sharing saves in a report to Hello Games, it is best to create a package/archive of the full folder shown for your platform above (.zip/.rar).

If game is crashing with message of mod incompatibilities detected then you could be running an outdated mod
If game is crashing with message about something related to graphics or memory, it's highly unlikely mods are at fault
Mods aren't convoluted enough to affect graphics or memory to this degree
you have already identified your issue as video drivers so you should first try to change your video driver, probably by downgrading it
I hope this helps but I don't see how mods need to be in consideration in any way
so an update on my situation, i deleted the vortex profile and, yeah everything is completely fine
i don't know why it said that especially since it wasn't doing much to the game at all
its pops up 2 things something about video ram and something about it could possibly be mods but this has never happened to me before today
Idk about NMS but vortex sometimes doesn't put mods in the right place as much as I love vortex and am an advocate for it.

You don't specify the mod you're using, so can't say one way or the other, but for every numerical property value, there's a range the game will accept. We cannot see what these ranges are, obfuscated data. Outside of that range, can cause issues.
That being said, mods CANNOT directly affect save data.
Worst case, if you cause creatures that are too big to spawn is your framerate will tank, causing the game to crash.
If concerned with save issues, backup your save files first. 🙂 You're asking for a guarantee, when nothing is 100% certain under all circumstances. Not going to happen. Like asking someone to guarantee that there's no chance of you getting hurt tomorrow.
Yeah better to stick with the values provided by the mod author, they (most likely) did their testing and released the mod in a functional state
Keep in mind, just because a mod file lets you set the value to 1000x original, it doesn't mean the game will like it

Probably a reason, but no way to tell for the minimal information.
The limit of 10x is in place because the collisions don't scale properly and you start seeing very large creatures phasing through terrain objects. The bigger you make the creatures, the worse it looks. You can make it really high, but it will look pretty bad. Your choice. There is a limit where the game will crash (depending on your hardware and the creature type) if you make it too high, but it shouldn't affect your save at all. If it crashes, just lower the value.
Or I guess, more accurately, the crude collision shapes that don't match the more detailed visual meshes are exacerbated with size, where they become less and less accurate.
Does NMS have shaders that influence volumetrics?

I don’t know if there is a Reshade preset for something like that… if that’s what you’re asking.
There are already systems, including shader systems, in NMS that do all of those things natively. Fog, particles, “Godrays”, diff sky and light effects, etc.
Not sure about mods that might be available that affect those systems besides DUD’S SKY - COLORS … “Skies” mod, which is currently not available …. for reasons.
There might be others, just not aware if there are.
Yeah, not a lot of true shader mods for NMS. Argh Water, which has been deprecated for awhile and Crescent Worlds

Only those using this mod will be able to see it, how NMS works, as all mods are local.
Guess there is a means to force certain ships only to show up by modifying the Lua script and processing through AMUMSS. See "Spawn Pool customisation instructions with AMUMSS" on the Description tab.
You will need to download from NexusMods yourself though. Due to the many model files in the mod, it clocks in at just over 1GB. 🙂

In general, videos for NMS are mostly worthless. Tend to become quickly outdated.
Yeah, avoid videos for information on NMS. They are usually either incorrect, completely guessing, or out of date. Almost always some combination of those.
The overlap between "people that know anything about modding NMS" and "people that make YouTube videos" is not very populated

When you wanna install a mod that affects biomes or terrain generation, it's better to save on the space station before loading mods in
You don't wanna spawn trapped in some biome assets or new terrain shape from the mod
Only thing that will do what you list is using free placement.
Just the way the game works, and with NMS mods, we can't change base functionality, in most cases.
We don't mod what we want with NMS, we mod what we're allowed to.
Specific to snapping, what you want is dynamic snapping, where in NMS snaps are static. Good example being if you use scaling (making an object bigger or smaller), breaks snapping, because as you scale the object, the snap points either become buried too deep in the object (larger) or are caught outside the bounds of the object (smaller).
It’s a damn shame that NMS doesn’t have as much modding functionality as Skyrim for example, perhaps the next NMS or their upcoming game will either have more support or better yet improving base game functionality - although of course that’s easier said than done

Can't line up rows neatly without snap points neatly in a row and no means to just add snap points to the ground.
Skyrim has an API. NMS (and upcoming LNF) does not.
The concern, from HelloGames perspective is twofold. 1) An API, allowing low level access, also compromises some intellectual property that they do NOT want public. 2) Supportability. They do not support modding officially. With deep API access, vastly increases chances of mod caused breakages and they are a small company, without the staff levels to deal with that kind of support.

in vanilla scanner works (u can see the animation electric wave thingy) but it doesnt show any icons on the hud, the visor (pressing F) doesnt work at all

No, that descriptor is exclusive to the SANDWORM creature type
That specific thing is a physical model, most creatures have many of those to indicate each little bit or bob they have
Only sandworms have the bone-worm model, so using that string on another creature type either wouldn't do anything or idk something weirder

As Winder said, they aren't really split up in a way we can target them by group. I could probably remove settlement markers, but it would also remove your own settlement markers. That might be acceptable though

So I was just looking at base entries in the JSON and noticed that there are two different Galactic Address formats. Euclid uses 0x plus a 14-digit hexadecimal address. Non-Euclid uses a 16-digit decimal address. Does anyone know how these are built, before I try to deconstruct it myself?

How about 0x? What does it signify?
There are various formats for addresses.
The 0x signifies it being a hexadecimal value/format, very common use in code.
With the decimal variant posted by Grouch up above, it requires conversion to hex first (best to use 16 bytes with leading zeroes if need be), then remove 1st byte and 4th byte, in a similar way

You will at times find values which do include the galaxy, although not commonly used with most regular save data editing
There is actually some internal use for being decimal or hexadecimal as well by the way.
For example with expeditions, where the decimal variant for the rendezvous systems will change to hexadecimal once visited.

Correct, as stated above. Just makes it easier for me to indicate which to remove. In the end it all stems from a binary value. You will find a lot of values start making sense when seen in binary, just not as easy to handle in a chat.

Hey. Quick question before I go to the respective discord from the pins. I want to play old expeditions (basically all of them, because I missed all of them) but I'm slightly worried by the amount of hacks and broken goals/milestones described in notes on the NMS Expedition Generator page.
Would it make any sense to try to play old expeditions on their contemporary NMS builds (i.e., historical builds) to avoid breakage? Has anyone tried that?
No it wouldn't
Of course playing expeditions as they were on the game version it was at the time, would be best.
However, these provided means of being able to play them after the fact, have tried to make up for that as best they can. So playing an altered expedition with using an older version of the game, is likely similarly risky.
To avoid problems the best way would be just using mods or save editors
I suggest to just play them the way they are intended by the creator of said tool/mod.
Just make sure to create a backup of your saves.
Im no save editor expert so I cant really vouch for them but I know they make backups so restore
Yeah, I was thinking about using unaltered expeditions (i.e. unchecking the "apply patches" box), except for specific cases where milestones were changed to be completable in offline.
They do make backups, when changes are made and saved. I personally just prefer to have the actual source files backed when I feel I am about to take a risk.
Mods like Consumerism or various reward unlockers by Babscoole use the same mechanics as vanilla game does to give the rewards
And dont affect the save data directly so there's nothing to break really
That and because I have experience with mods and can point to troubleshooting methods, is why I recommend using mods first
(Yes, I know I can use mods and/or save editor to just give myself the rewards directly, but I don't like that conceptually. I want to play the expeditions AND get the rewards.)
Then the next best alternative is using the exped files as they have been provided
By people who did their own testing, figured out the problems and ways to circumvent them
I'd agree there, best to play them with the changes made, assuming they include changes to prevent issues. The experience is not going to be dramatically different

@vivid wadiI would use that mod for frequency, then go in open space with freighter and respawn your freighter over and over to see which ships spawn to it in space. That is a quicker way to catch exotics, IMO

It's because all mods are LOCAL, only making changes to your game files, which for the most part aren't synced.
NMS is completely non-competitive. Mods just affect you.
That you, and only you, have more or less freighter battles doesn't affect other players, positively or negatively. So, it doesn't matter. 🙂
That you have a ship with a non-vanilla color doesn't matter. Only you and others using the same mod would be able to see it.

Also, using W and S in the build piece selection menu is much faster than scrolling, even with an unlocked mouse wheel they're just the same

Ok, think I found the currently used settings. It looks like it does a speed-up effect where it starts really slow on rotation then speeds up. I can change the minimum rotation speed, what it does when you start rotating, the maximum speed after it starts accelerating, and the time to reach maximum speed. Current settings are 0.8, 3.5, 1.0s. Let me know what you want them to be.

Also I just want to point out, that’s such a weird way of handing rotation. It’d made sense if the keybind was binary, like q&e, but it just doesn’t seem like it’d work well with mousewheel.

strange, usually when a E is there you just press the E key and there you sit
Spinning chairs universally do not have that option, instead interacting with them makes them spin

hello so i have a question i was using the save editor on one of my other saves just to try out stuff and when i go to the synthesize vendor it says claim but it wont claim, i went offline like it said but still not letting me claim
- how did you unlock the rewards in the save editor?
- a much easier way to get expedition/twitch rewards in the shop is to just use consumerism mod https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2062 (you could also add quicksilver to your save using save editor, or use this mod addon to make all consumerism items free https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/3420)
i use goatfungus save editor but i just went too the account section and checked off all the boxes and went to the offline game and went to the vendor
i'd suggest reverting to the backup you have before making those changes (nmsse would have made one before writing the changes you asked it to save i.e. check boxes in the account tab), and see this post <#nms-modding message>.
basically, you want to double check if stuff is getting added to account raw json data
@steady flame i.e. checking if e.g. atlas scepter ID is in raw json editors: both in account raw json/unlockedseasonrewards and in save raw json/basecontext/playerstatedata/knownspecials - we should just need unlockedseasonrewards iirc.

Those are rewards from Expedition 12: Omega, which aren't obtainable anymore without save editing, modding or the service bot
The head and jetpack are unlockable customization options for your suit, which cannot be acquired more than once so they can't be "duped"
As for the staff, you could copy one from an expedition save that was began from an existing save, and send a copy of the Atlas Sceptre back to your main save, but there isn't really a point to that
If your question is "can someone give me these" the answer is no, unless they are the service bot

I enjoy survival alot and i think it would fit very well into the survivial mode since the survival difficulty dont really have any survival aspects
Plus i think it would just really well complement the cooking and fishing system

By chance are you running a version of the game prior to 5.58? Several stutters were resolved around that particular time frame. Not sure the relation to mods though, as you don't mention any.
how do i check my version, i seem to have access to beacons so i assume my version is definitely after 5.5, as for mods, if it turns out im playing the latest version and still stuttering even with the recommended pc specs, i will need a mod like the ones prior to 5.5 that removed lag during leaving/entering planets by preloading the space anamoly beforehand

any mods to prevent stuttering when leaving or entering the space anamoly or planets, i seem to be that one rare guy that still has the issue
HG did the bulk of optimizations with Worlds Part 2 update and the mod became obsolete
Better to check if your system doesn't run some unnecessary apps hoggin the resources
i tried everything from disabling background services to loadings window in clean mode
also tried switching from ultra to standard just to see what happens, no change
Can't really offer any other tips than checking the general troubleshooting steps
But Im 99% sure there's no mod to remedy the issue you're having

tysm just deleted all the beaconss i had from the json which helped a ton, those icons were so annoying
ah ok, so you went to basebuildingobjects, and deleted the beacon objects from there, and problem is dealt with now?
oh nah that didnt let me delete it properly, so first i just exported the save as a json file, went to vs code and deleted all the objects which had the objectid called ^BUILDBEACON and then imported back to the saveEditor and then saved the changes and FInally i can now get lost in the space lol

For planets, that's going to be an issue with your PC most likely. Number of possibilities there.
For Nexus/anomaly, as a test, you can go offline in NMS options and wait a few seconds then try entering the Nexus and see if it improves/fixes. Depending on your network... connection... you might be getting lag from it trying to load player data. Then you would know that's an issue with your network and/or someone else's that's in the Anomaly.

Okay if the issue happens every time then it’s something with your network. If happens some of the time, either yours some of the time (less likely) or another players network and yours are not liking each other.
Anomaly stutter happens to me every time I go in one, but I have suck internet. Expected for me.

its weird, planets and anamoly behaving the same for me when i go online
The local instances such as local player group and anomaly group are peer to peer as far as I know. So there isn’t a connection to a “server” like that.
fwiw, entering anomaly for me with mp enabled gives me a <1s freeze, on a fiber 1Gb connection, ryzen 7700x, 32GB DDR5. really strange that in a system with no other players, having mp enabled causes a freeze for Fardin when leaving planet

Same as regular expeditions. It unlocks expedition rewards that are accessible from any save on your account.

When playing No Man's Sky, there is always a risk of save file corruption. Hard to pin anything down, and most of the things you find online are generally just superstitions and myths that have developed over time. Not a bad idea to just make regular backups in case you hit one of the weird edge cases.
There's really no continuity between expeditions, so you can either go in order or prioritize by how interesting they sound/their rewards.
Like most of the game, the lore really doesn't add up to much of anything. Just there for color.

The other big one is NomNom. Neither is best. 95% of what they do is basiclaly the same for both. For the other 5%, one will have a few features that the other doesn't and vice versa.
They are both free and can switch from using one to the other, just not both at the exact same time.
Sometimes which you use can be dictated by which updates for a new NMS update sooner.

This is running on the latest (at time of upload) NMS version (Beacon - 5.75)
Game pauses are caused by alt-tabbing out of the game to use the pyMHF gui to change the rate at which the planets move.
This is now configurable within the game by way of the in-game text chat.

You can use a Save Editor to change a value from true to false using the raw JSON editor. See pins (#nms-modding message) for NMSSE or NomNom. Make sure to create a backup of your saves first, just in case (use !Faq-Savefiles in #bot-spam )

What is your definition of graphics mod? Can't answer without knowing.
Example, many mods which increase the color palettes available for various things. I'd consider that a graphics mod, being strictly visual changes, but your definition may be different.

The closest thing to that would be the two mods I linked which increase render distance of certain elements, there aren't any graphics overhaul mods like other games have, mostly due to the vanilla graphics options being more than enough and constantly updated
and just due to how modding works in NMS, it's extremely difficult to replace things and nearly impossible to add new things
Another point is that traditionally, mods break with NMS updates, A good example is a person uploaded a mod with many dozens of fixed TEXTURES. Within a few months, game updates had completely broken the mod, due to NMS updates changing some of the compression methods used for the TEXTURES. Guy probably spent a few dozen hours making the mod originally and couldn't bear to redo all the DDS from scratch.
Just hasn't been worth it for mod authors to waste their time like that redoing the same thing over and over.

it's recommended to back up your save, but also I'd say start in a space station since they aren't moved
for multiplayer it will just be weird, because if you are on a planet with this mod on, someone else will not see the planet in the same system in the same place, so it won't "break" anything, it will just look very weird since the two games won't be sync'd up
it's sadly not possible to make this mod work for multiplayer

Are the mods required to be .pak files? I’m not really sure what happened last night but all my mods stopped working out of no where and when i looked online it said they all needed to be .pak. When i looked in the files of the mods i was using none of them had pak files in them. Chat GPT said i need to convert the files to a pak using some tool which I dont have time to do. I only have 2 hours a day to play this game before i need to sleep.
They're required to NOT be PAK files. Since end of January this year, PAK files don't work

But if you want to go online and load any saves that are not on expeditions, that will work fine. You just have to re-download the .JSON and restart your game in offline mode before you load your expedition save(s) again.
If you load an expedition save with the wrong expedition .JSON or while online, it will just end the expedition. I think if you force quit nms as soon as you see the expedition ended message you can go offline/grab the correct .JSON file again and continue the expedition, but I'm not 100% sure (I feel like I've done that before but people tell me it doesn't work so 🤷♂️).
I'm also not 100% sure if swapping them while an expedition save is running will do anything. I think that file is only read when the game starts up. However, if you go online while an expedition save is running, it will also end the expedition.
In all cases, you will still need to go to the expedition terminal to fully end the expedition and claim the rewards you had earned up until that point if you still needed to collect any (same as if a live expedition ended while you were on it).

Yes but you'll need to restart your game as I believe during startup is the only time it's read by the game. That said, feel free to test swapping it while the game is running - I don't think it will work, but I can't imagine it'd break anything.

What's funny is my save file has never done anything wonky, and I have done some really crazy testing with expeditions. Well, I say never, but it did break once when HG broke Expedition 7: Leviathan, but in that case everyone who loaded that expedition had the issue. Had to save edit and move yourself off the expedition to fix the file. But apart from that I've never had the save file issues other folks have had.
I just kind of have to accept that save files can go sideways, not ever being 100% sure what events led up to the issue. And it's never reproducible on my end (save for the Leviathan one).
