Your quest reset for Search For Artemis actually worked and it helped me! So thank you for that. Is there anyway for me to bring back my Atlas Path quest line with your save editor? The Atlas Path is just ... completely gone and non-existent in my log. I only talked to the first Atlas Station and that was it. Then after some point I hadn't accounted for it is just gone.

After fixing my Artemis Path quest, I progressed a little bit and eventually I was able to ask Polo about the Atlas Stations. As a result my Atlas Path quest line came back. So I guess I no longer need help in this regard now.

Does anyone know of a mod where the refiners can pick up the items in your storage boxes? For example, I have storage boxes 0-9 with items in them but unless the items are in my inventory it won't see them

First time got into modding no mans sky besides dropping pak files....Can I drop my LUA files and PAK files into the MODSCRIPT folder at the same time and generate a combined pak with after going through conflict checking or do I need to do the LUA mods seperate and the PAK files seperate that don't have a LUA files. Also is there any info on regenerating a pak when you don't want a certain mod anymore?

A lot of the material on this program is not formatted really well to understand it at least IMO

- the latter, AMUMSS only takes the mbin it needs from the pak and you likely still need to use the pak if it does more than one mbin's work
- simply run the luas again without the one you no longer want and yeet the previously generated pak if needed

Which mods are you using that are .pak only? There may be "3rd party" luas for them, not provided by the mod author. Patch .paks (when you combine a .pak with one or more luas do work, but can be problematic, as the conflict game files used from the .paks are not updated to current game version, so can cause issues.

So hold your horses for now, unless you're willing to risk messing up with your save data
Ok so, this mod is a very nice thing to have. And normally I would encourage people to try these steps to do it themselves. BUT
The latest update to the game changed the game files. The archives are not named after numbers anymore

Move those to Gamedata... then to see if it worked

On 3rd time it was completely gone

the same tool can be used to list archive contents and find a proper one.
unpacking whole game in general will lead to a better performance on SSD. Beware about ratio. Whole game unpacked is about 40 Gb

Help, I got the lag when leaving planets again after the update (which is normal I know) but the thing is I'm missing the NMSARC.451C674F.pak file, and I have the MODELS folder in GAMEDATA but its still causing a freeze. You shouldn't have any MODELS folder in GAMEDATA to begin with

Ran across a suggestion to make the NMS appmanifest write protected so it can't update, then adding a shortcut to the EXE as a non-Steam game to Steam.

Just so you know, Parallax comes with an .lua script. You can update the mod yourself by running the script through AMUMSS.

You can mix mods like no tech overload or Old Style Slots to bring back bar indicators
But we are still left with tech + cargo inventories

now if you're asking if HG did anything related to that, then yes and no, they made the Supercharge slot for the annoying kids complaining about "being too weak now", which just made them stronger than before
inventory wise nothing changed, except the button to show the whole inventory instead of having to scroll

The Skies plugin lists couple of changes, one being: Adjustments to cloud speed and formation.
Is that making the clouds go slower or faster compared to vanilla settings?
If I had to guess, faster, because who actually notices cloud movement in vanilla?

Right, lemme try to explain: "speed and formation"
"speed" in this case means 2 things. The clouds as a whole will move across the sky slower than vanilla but not really slow like Earth clouds. Also, each cloud has turbulence. The way the cloud forms different shapes is slightly faster than vanilla.
"formation" refers to the turbulence speed as mentioned above, and also that the total possible amount (range) of turbulence is greater than vanilla. In effect, it will mean that the turbulence is a little faster and can be a smaller amount or a larger amount than vanilla.

No and it's not likely that we will get such a mod
We don't have the tools to add new functionality, only use the one existing in the game already
What could be done is lowered consumption, but yeah no auto reload
Clouds don't even exist on half the celestial bodies in this game...
I've actually never noticed clouds (except while passing through them in a ship) in my hundreds of hours.
hemisFear's Freighter Hangar, No Charge Portals, GShips, GFreighter - one or a combination of multiple of these mods interfere with MT procgen, causing Rifles and Experimentals to spawn with incorrect barrel accessories. Unfortunately I cannot provide any further info on the cross-interaction, as I have no 1st hand experience with mods.
@vale iron I'm guessing you'd have known long since if either of your custom skin mods affected MT generation - I haven't heard anything of the sort because your mods are clean and tight, right? 🙂
The summoner might have some weird side effect of wiping multitools in certain situations, but that's all I've heard of
@vale iron Nonono, this is affecting MT procgen, not just owned MTs - it's shifting barrel accessories on every rifle and experimental in the game.

if you have a mod that changes the distance of the ship when you start a new game, it changes the map gen, go knows what else it might change
when I tested changing for the ship to start close to the character when you start a new game, some planets would have completely different gen
hub planets where portals would've been, there was no portal
didn't test if the same happens if you make it spawn far away
so that being said this game works in mysterious ways that things that shouldn't cause something for some ungodly reason does
and the reason only sean knows
no charge portal is literally a line that set "autocomplete when interact" to true.

@sand turtle You dont, you use SaveWizard to export JSON copies of your saves to PC to then edit with NMSSE or NomNom
(Technically can be done strictly with SW, tis just far more of a hassle)

I noticed that if you change the mod version inside the lua file to the current no man sky version it may accept the mod, it's not 100% but seems to work to some mods

You can't take a mod for 3.0 and make it work for 4.3 just by changing some variable
If that was the case, we wouldn't wait for mod authors to update their mods so long
I understand it doesn't work with a big gap like that, but I did used a mod that the game crashed and after changing it the game loaded it, the mod was 4.20 and I just changed it to current version at the time which was 4.23 and it worked, as I said it's not 100% to all mods but may work sometimes

Well it was the only change I did and the game loaded the mod
MBINCompiler is the tool to decompile game files and compile XMLS into MBINs for mods
There are people who work on updating that tool for subsequent game updates
Running a script through AMUMSS which makes use of MBINCompiler is what makes the mods work for new versions of the game
Btw I just downloaded the mod files and dropped on the mod/pcbanks, and only change I did was that on the lua file, I don't know about AMUMSS or MBINcompiler

and you loading up the game again flushed the system enough to make it realize you have a modded files causing it to stablize

Mods do not break multiplayer. They can create issues like "location you need to visit in expedition is buried under a volcano because you installed a terrain overhauld mod"

aren't there like a billion of these type of mods on the Nexus already? Why do people keep making mods that just do the same thing as pre-existing mods? I've also seen the pretty often we get some duplicates because mod authors abandon their mods, so someone makes a new mods to replace it. Would be cool if people stopped abandoning their mods or outdated mods were clearly labeled so they can be ignored.

And you're totally right, abandoned mods are an issue in the modding scene. Like all outdated mods they might not be compatible with the latest version of the game and cause all kinds of issues, which leads the players in frustration here
I made one for exactly that reason, because the others weren't updated and people were complaining. Now I'm stuck where there are plenty of alternatives, but people will complain if I drop support.

I'm finding the game crashes after loading screen when using mods I like after this latest update to NMS on Steam. I'm new to mods so is this typical (updates breaking mods)? Do I just need to turn them all off until I get updates on Vortex? I am using Instant scanning, Fine LOD, and Fast Actions.
@sour goblet yep, updates usually break most mods
- we highly recommend not using Vortex (or any other mod manager) - NMS modding is not that convoluted to warant a mod manager and those can introduce another issues
- as DHW pointed out, game updates potentially break mods. So pick only the mods that have been updated to the latest game version
Or use the provided LUA scripts to compile the mod in question yourself with AMUMSS
But I still recommend just checking Nexus for recently updated and new releases

We have no information about the time update 4.3 (Singularity) will be released on your platform. Each platform has its own certification / verification procedure that's out of the developer's control. Hello all. I am new to modding as in I haven’t done it in a very long time and never to nms but I want to find a mod to make flying ships planetside more controllable. As in I wouldnt be fighting the ships for control close to the ground and have better overall control. I know each ship is different in how it handles but I always come to the same problem of the ship controls not being responsive enough.

Tip for adding Season Rewards using a Save Editor.
If you are looking to unlock new goodies with a Save Editor, first make sure you have a backup. Then add them on the Account!
Only as a last resort try to edit the raw JSON for the Account Data:
- Find the correct reward IDs
- Edit (add) them to 'UnlockedSeasonRewards', making sure to follow correct formatting syntax.
- Claim on the Anomaly.
Note: Alternatively editing 'KnownSpecials' in the Save Data will often work as well, but not always!

I'm trying to edit the raw json with the goatfungus save editor to add in the expedition 10 rewards (which someone kindly listed earlier, thank you!) but I keep getting an "Error on line #3 invalid token" when I try to save the changes. I formatted it exactly like everything else in the "known specials list so idk what's going wrong.
This is what mine looks like, but it doesn't like the S10 part ones in particular it seems?

Never were a large number of people who modded VR for NMS to begin with, 2 or 3. I've a few in my catalog, as handmedowns, but as they break due to updates, I'm limited to code only to attempt to fix. No way to test, as I don't have VR. Too expensive.

When using AMUMSS with mods that provide both a pak and a lua should I be removing the pak from my MODS folder after generating the lua?
You either use the provided PAK and then there's no need to use the LUA
Or you use the LUA script to compile the mod yourself
And you put the generated PAK inside the MODS folder
Either way you need a PAK for the mod to work

Reconstructs seems to have replaced the boundary failure ring I was meant to encounter along the living ship egg quest and the replacement structure has no terminal to interact with. I'll mess around with my mod selection to fix it in the short term but is that something that you could add to prevent issue in the future?

NMSSE (goatfungus) can unlock 1-9 on the Account tab. Expedition 10 will require adding IDs to the Account save (Edit Account JSON) in 'UnlockedSeasonRewards. You can then redeem them on the Anomaly
Do pay attention to formatting. Last entry in the list will not end with a comma.

just a thing of note - anything that affects terrain generation especially will cause desync obviously.. since other people don't normally use these mods when they share bases online .. so they'll likely be underground or midair for you, should you decide to use mods like that :>

hi modders was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. im trying to mod a few things for the VR version of NMS. attaching the hud to the players head and movement following the players left controllers direction not the right. i have the files unpacked just poking around them now. any help is much appreciated.
Finally decided to give modding nms a go. Spent three hours poking through a bunch of stuff on Nexus. Mostly just visual / terrain stuff.

lotsa physics are missing now. It seems to be just one bone stretching about whilst the rest is a premade animation
it's also just sticking out weirdly and not neatly laying down anymore
it no longer dynamically reacts to your legs either

Feels like they added a wind factor into it
Prolly trying to make it "flow" more naturally
but now the cape settles down each time with an identical animation and doesn't really utilize physics like it used to
it feels pretty stiff
I understand this might be good for optimization if they plan on bringing the capes on switch and mobile tho
