Because the new corrupt Sentinels arent part of the CreatureDataTable, even modders havent set up a way to tame those, and if they do so, the eggs wont work for anyone without the mod.

hey yall its been... way too long for me. i cant remember how to check if my mods are up2date (which they wont be) and i think i also needed to copy my savegame before i check ingame (cause i have a mod for more inventory space)
Assume nothing you have is compatible with new game version
which is most likely correct
So make a list of your mods and look up new versions on them on Nexus
Alternatively see if they have a LUA or C# script provided
And use that to build the mod yourself for the new game files

Even value is manual/restore, uneven is auto. Slot 1 is none or 2, slot 2 is 3 or 4, slot 3 is 5 or 6, etc
I've started editing a JSON package of TeleportEndpoints - the end result will be 4 sets of 64 JSON entries that can be swapped in to savedata for labelled teleport access to the same address in every single galaxy.
Because whats slicker than editing your location in a save? A set of preset destinations in your teleporter list to choose from! Lol
Downside of TeleportEndpoints is the fact it updates accordingly, so any change is redundant pretty much after 1st use

Create your own custom list, fine 1st time, to then use it and see it update to be useless
Ive never had that issue - I can load in 10 destinations and not get around to visiting em all for weeks
It is based on your teleport destinations available in-game, so if out of the ordinary, those will be replaced with what the game thinks should be there. Basically having to manually adjust all the time

and things like, when you're fighting in your starship...locking onto starships is S...but CHANGING to another starship is comma/period (all the way over on the other side of the keyboard...yeah I know you can change it, but why would that be the DEFAULT?) when your right hand is already occupied using the mouse

you can either have intimate knowledge of the structs and the changes of their data structure update by update
or you can just read the mod's update date and see if it's recent
Or compile the mod yourself for the current version of the game using a LUA / C# script if it's provided

@vivid hedge Unsure, but I do know Vortex just overcomplicates NMS mods. What's the software version of the term "plug & play"? Because you basically just drop pak files in the proper folder and mods activate properly lol.
Yeah, most of us recommend not using Vortex, but you should be able to launch through Steam, as Vortex should just be putting the pak where it's supposed to go

Lyravegas freighter tweaks has that as one of the options. Has to be created from the lua after editing to enable/disable options. All documented in the lua. Extends the build box onto the bridge. Be aware this makes the box big enough to reach some portions of the hangar, but if you attempt to build there it will crash the game.

@dawn mulch There are mods that will make playing coop MP somewhat screwy, but they wont prevent it - trying to play onplanet when 1 person sees a lake and the other a mountain kinda prevents coop base building, ya know?

the 4th race you were referencing changes with the seed. To get Apollo, you need a different path reference to use in the save data:
MODELS\PLANETS\NPCS\FOURTHRACE\HOLOSCEPTIC.SCENE.MBIN
That is also where you find NULL, the lighbulb one, and Artemis, all by diff scene names. The QS bot is in yet another location. Nada and Polo are also somewhere else, but diff versions exist too (old vs new Anomaly)

The interactions they can have are inherited with the model, which can lead to issues or at least no longer being able to get the expected interactions.
You can easily lose Frigate Fleet interaction with most replacements.
i had apollo as my main combat frigate but i accidently deleted it
Oh and the freighter captain as well now, considering it has some options too since a while
I used Nada as freighter NPC crew for a long time. I now have Nada, Polo, Artemis and the QS bot as squad pilots.
i jus been messing around with the files not knowing what i doing i glad i havent broken the save, aye thats cool as did you need mods ?
Using them as Squad pilots is less of an issue for that matter
No, I usually do not use mods
Do make sure to have a backup of your saves though. Save Editor is cool, but also very powerful. Can ruin your fun 'both' ways
(should create a backup as you make changes, but best to rely on your own)
i jus save my source code in note pad before messing with it so if it goes wrong i can put it back haha, i dont get a leg up with editing i jus like changing what things look like
Can do quite a few things for that matter, although quite different from actual modding.
i dont know what i doing so i havent messed with to much, when i do it right i am surpizedxD alot of the time i make things invisible so i guess the program couldnt read what i did
Sometimes it uses a default, other times it bugs out, or has unexpected behaviour. Some changes are forced within a limit. Some changes are not accepted at all
Some simple change can have results you are not aware of, like having issues with MP to function properly after having set your 'shield' value out of expected range

Apollo is not part of the possibilities for that path. You can get the random NPC heads though and a variety of colours etc. Even the new bucket helm is part of it now as well as capes for those

Depends how it was modified, but the default seeded ones are hard to get with a proper black colour. So many will use the alternative, which is also not MP compatible
when you mess with a color the systems seed changes too
Seeded ships can be given, but they'll re-roll stats and lose inventory to be default as well
so if your friend messes with a color you could possibly go to that system and get the ship

They are part of the 4th procgen now, using seeds. Some are found in the creative discord. Not sure we found the specific seeds, which used to be here:
METADATA\SIMULATION\NPCS\NPCSPAWNTABLE.MBIN in source files. Have not messed with it much since this change

As far as I remember, You can complete missions that are specified for Gek status at any station to fulfill that section.

It's the solar helmet, it's in the game files but not accessible to players

You will see some of the bridge crew be all the same model. In my case it uses a model you would normally not get
You will have the captain, the frigate fleet commander, the 2 sitting left of the captain and one crew member upstairs, always all using the same model. I changed the model and all 5 change

Correct. When you find a freighter and purchase it, the crew that comes with it, is getting 'seeded' with a model to use for those specific crew members
It is possible to see Traveller NPCs walking around in the base portion of your freighter as captains of frigates you own, it's a bug
But not on the bridge / deck area
Squad pilots are part of the roaming NPCs in the freighter base, which are separate from the main crew.

Yes, some of the crew you see pictures of above, are actually there because of swapped path references for Squad Pilots

Yes, I don't recall this affecting the rolled stats that come with the seed, although some models will require a specific seed, in which case I can see it possibly change.
Their name changes, somewhat reflecting the NPC in some cases, like Nada being 'Priest Entity'
Ah yes, there is a 'TraitSeed' and 'PilotRank', which basically sets the traits and rank respectively

Where x is the index value of the pilot and the seed is a hexadecimal string, so "0x123456ABCDEF" or alike
Change the seed, and the traits will change. The good ones from above use this seed in my case: "0x22F082E7519FF036"
PilotRank is right below the TraitSeed in the raw JSON editor and uses a decimal value for class, where 3 is S-class
so 0 (C), 1 (B), 2 (A), and 3 (S)

This would not necessarily fix the issue, but I have suggested other solutions (AMUMSS)
load order won't matter unless it's a patch or you want a mod to replace something from other on purpose
so the issue is most likely the mods conflict because they change the same file, so the last loaded wins
which means you need to check if they are conflicting and merge them

The Game Pass version on the PC is not the same as the XBox. The Game Pass version exists on the PC, and the save files are on the PC, it has nothing to do with the XBox other than the Game Pass sub that allows you to install on the PC. The save locations are:

The files used to be plain json but now seem to be partially compressed, I think the 3 PC versions use the same format. So if the GF save editor can deal with the steam saves then I'd expect it to work w/ the game pass ones, but I haven't tested it yet.
Just tested the latest GF save editor w/ Game Pass. Unfortunately it doesn't look for the GP path, only the steam one. Also, you can't manually select the GP save file as it doesn't have an extension the app recognizes. When I rename the save file (add.hg extension) I can select it but it doesn't seem to do anything with it (no error, no data). π€·ββοΈ I'm guessing these would be minor changes in the code, but would have to wait for GF to make them.
It's all right apparently Nom Nom is going to be getting updated soon enough someone was telling me they said the guy that did it's probably taking his time on this update cuz the last one he rushed out and had bugs
I got GF save editor to load my Game Pass save, here's the folder I had to select ... your user and wgs sub-folders will of course be different, but there should only be one wgs subfolder that looks like mine.

Does anyone know the mod that fixes the lag spike when you leave a planet?
Some believe that if you run some files unpacked, or repack w/ no compression, it can speed it up. I tried that but didn't notice a difference, but maybe because I'm using an SSD vs HDD. it also seems to work better/worse for different game releases π€·ββοΈ

@silk surge Not all mods are cheaty, if that's what you're afraid of. And depending on your mod choices, you needn't worry about your game breaking with any new updates that break the mods. For example, a base building mod (that does not add new parts) can be activated only during the building process, and once stuff has been placed, it will stay there even if you deactivate it, for example after an update

Hasn't been updated for latest. General rule of thumb, nms updates break mods. Any that haven't been updated to latest major version will most likely freeze or crash the game.

Enhancing the gameplay is so broad of a term it can be interpreted in many ways. Some see that as flying the Tie Fighter, some see that as just changing the colour palette of the game a bit, some others want a rework of loot / rewards from different encounters

odd bug in my Perma save. I can run from or fight ONE sentinel...but after that it goes from 1-star thru 5-stars in a matter of seconds...then deactivates. while I just wait for them to find me
It SAYS "Swarm multiplying" for a few seconds as each star-level is reached...then finally the planet is disabled.
So...I never get the chance to acquire a Heart because no Quads are appearing. Just that first floater

Thanks for the update. I didn't have time to respond this morning, but it had me baffled.
It's definitely a good start. The shape and colors are good. The lights will make good emissives. You'll probably want some form of pattern on the hull, as when you increase the scale of a flat texture like that, it looks really weird.
I don't know what your model is built like, but it's easiest to implement the glow effect if all the lights are in a separated mesh. Also something to keep in mind for the engines, whatever those look like.
Oh I'm using on shape on a Chromebook I'll be getting a PC soon then I'll move into blender with lighting and textures and all that

Might not be what you're looking for, but DUD'S SKY - TERRA FIRMA is a voxelgen (land) mod. It also comes with "Natural Spawn" which makes slightly larger forest and plains areas. DUD'S SKY - COLORS adds a bunch of color and effect mods.

@spare chasm Best bet would be to go into options, graphics section, then dial stuff down. That's what I have to do. There is an Lua script to make a mod .pak to increase performance, no idea if it still works. Process through AMUMSS to generate the .pak.

Yes, you can use mods in multi-player. There are no restrictions.
Just note that some mods will change your environment and not the environment of those that aren't using the mod.

In most cases, mods are client facing (the user is the only one the mod affects). If 2 users use the same mod, they will see the same thing. There are rare exceptions.

To just straight up delete a base, you have to select the number on the left and make sure to <ctrl>+A on the right and delete, then select something else again on the left

- No procedural Weapon upgrade modules allowed
- SC may not be used on base Weapon tech
- Manual Shield recharging is disallowed
- In Difficulty settings, both Damage Level and Enemy Strength set to Challenging
The experimental Fighter below features Hauler-strength Shields, Interceptor Agility, and Fighter Damage, with a Vesper Sail and atmospheric Maneuvering + Speed bonuses.
The Hauler Shields + Fighter Damage are as simple as reskinning an S-Class Hauler with Utopia Speeder, so it doesnt require save editing to build - the ship can be entirely built via reskins, the export is simply a shortcut. I believe this shall make for a much better balance in dogfights, and am seeking players to help test.

ohh that's too bad, most survival games need an autosort button anyway otherwise keeping the inventory organized is a bit of a pain
Yeah, that'd be something HelloGames would need to add into the exe itself.

Most mods older than current major version (currently 4.2x, since Apr 2023) will crash the game.
Older mods are retained on NexusMods for those who choose to run legacy versions of NMS.

To do what
to do anything with it, like create a better filter yourself, find what items are on which base etc. Currently I just wanted to know where I left my mining setup lol
