Hi so is either killing Artemis of uploading him the finish on the Artemis thing cuz idk but don’t like completely spoil it.
It's not the finish of the Artemis Path, if that's what you are asking
Oh, ha. I was working on something else and I noticed there's a SeasonRewardTable20 ("Season" is their internal word for "expedition"). Guess they probably had one ready-ish to go but Corvette may have taken too long to get out.
Ah, looks like it's just got a bunch of placeholder stuff from expedition 15 though, nothing juicy.
But it points to a 20th expedition I guess... right?
I'm looking at rewardtable.MXML which just lists all the available rewards. It has sections for each expedition, from SeasonRewardTable1 to SeasonRewardTable20. But SeasonRewardTable20 looks like a copy of SeasonRewardTable15 as far as the phase rewards. Looks like the milestone rewards are also copies of 15. I guess that was their placeholder expedition.
Oh, was saying that in light of BomberBoi's message
They leave extra reward table entries in for new expeditions in usually
The expedition set to start next week
Perhaps it is the 20th after all...
...one can dream.
All of the unused "future proofing" entries are just copies of an older expedition's rewards. We can't glean anything off of that except for the fact that expeditions arent ending as a form of content (which we can conclude off of several other factors anyway)
Oh is that data mined somewhere?
Not sure if it's still there in their server 😅
#nms-spoilers message
the start date usually gets set serverside about a week or so before an expedition is due, and the expedition itself being "lined up" on the server usually happens a while before that
I see, where are you pulling the server side data from?
I was part of a team which worked on RE-ing HG's server structure for things like discovery services, expeditions etc a few years back. We have a full repository lining the workings out, but were contacted by Iain Brown (HG's main server developer) before making the repo public asking us not to do so
He didn't seem to mind us making tools w/ the information though, which is why we still have a way to request some info from said servers
I see, so you have like a secret list of publicly accessible endpoints or something?
A lot of info on their servers yea.
Sounds about right for HG, heh
It makes sense tbh, I can imagine them lifting the restriction whenever NMS reaches EOL, but having community server reflections probably wont help before that, and just invite bad actors which would spread their team even thinner
I mean having publicly accessible endpoints that you don't want people to know about is already pretty bad. Security through obscurity.
They did a better job at restricting access to them eventually though, and even fixed up a few bugs we reported. So it's still in a better position than launch at least
Guys one of the greatest NMS players ever is that one person who built the portals to the 14 glyphs he is a hero
True, but you can also get them by doing the main story
Got a question. I'm not the only one who sees an Enderman easter egg?.. On this one screen...
What screen?
wish i could share the screen shot i took but it's on the screen you get when reloading a save
to the right..
Post in #nms-media
Wait what the...
#nms-media message
Seems to me just sci-fi tech stuff. You can see a few columns of blue light, too.
Don't think it's any kind of easter egg.
RIGHT!??
What is the blue
When it comes to easter eggs, HG is more explicit I've found...
Here, an example #no-mans-sky message
Spoilers question: during the Purge questiline, I'm given the option to reset the simulation to a new color of galaxy, whats a good choice?
Color only affects planet chances in yellow systems.
Pulled from the files
W I D E
Looks like a 3 man seater too
And one on the side
Oh true yeah
My ship space for incoming parts is getting full 😓
with whats coming im prob gonna build something completely new
Need this yesterday
Im not using station corvette part storage until its 100% safe.
My parts stay in my ship for now
wait is it not 100% safe???
all my parts are in the cache…
Heard stories that sometimes parts vanish. It was few patches ago tho.
I’ve not seen this myself, and I’ve done a LOT with corvette custom building, glitch building, decorations, and other stuff that stretched the corvette builder limits
There’s just too much stuff to keep it in any inventory but the station parts builder
i'm currently doing the artemis path and i'm at the point it told me he's between universes... i'm trying to get the drives to get to a purple system for deep water planets.
i really want to go deep diving at least ones.
I'd say stay out of spoiler channels. 😆
It's a poignant story. Better if you find out by yourself.
We have an emoji, folks.
Can we confirm expedition 20?
I can confirm expedition 20
No idea when or what it’ll be, but it’ll happen
#nms-spoilers message
That's why -- we were wondering
https://x.com/NoMansSky/status/1979262976784830510 doesnt that seem too early?
A little bit perhaps. That will be quite a few days of hyping, which usually means something nice...
But we shall see.
For Wednesday? It's less than six days, which is to be expected
i feel like we got voyagers like yesterday
there's no pattern for how many days before relating to the size of the update or anything
i just got to the part where i have to decide atermis echos fate 😢 what do i do, simulation or end suffering?
im so shocked and sad
spoilers pls
Personal choice.
I had this impression that... but nah, you are right.
no worries man im new here
i thought its the main channel sorry bro
ive could ve gotten it wrong
nah this is perfect place for lore stuff
i guess #nms-lore would be better? idk doesnt really matter
i mean i didnt wanna spoil anyone so i went to this one
i also didnt think id get traumatized cuz of this game but i guess i was wrong
So... no Switch 1 fix soon, I guess.
...or that brings some closure to the Switch 1 situation.
My bet is that this will be a mini follow-up to corvettes
Like how fishing built off Worlds part 1
Just a cool little feature that ties into either the building or EVA aspects
Would make sense -- the fishing update also had an expedition associated with it
If I had to be more specific I might have to pick EVA salvaging of space junk or something
Probably not what it is though
Someone who still has X/Twitter tell me how many pissed off Switch 1 players in the emoji comments.
On bluesky there's not really any
Yeah, I have Bluesky, I know
They're just adding the unused interior door part for corvettes
and running Expedition 20: Interior Door
You joke but I'd be happy with a handful of extra parts 😂😂
More parts please
Ah, so Sean dropping the emoji while I'm sleeping still happens after I switch timezones dramatically 😛
I hope it didn't awake you 😅
WAIT AN EMOJI WAS POSTED
Wasn't there something about a Corvette docking part in the files using the holo door place holder?
Gateways? Could be a follow-up to The Cursed's storyline with the portals
They did a good deal of teasing about what's actually behind the portal network
Gateways: the update that expands upon doors and makes them understandable
And if the mandibles description is anything to go off of, there's some hideous creatures there
Always pleasant to wake up to!
Sooo... what's the usual time frame between an emoji and the update release?
Yeah a 'landing bay'. Though all the existing entry ramps are also called landing bays so it might not be a placeholder model
4-6 days?
less than six days, but it will be wednesday because it's always the following wednesday
That soon!? At this rate this game is gonna hold me hostage via hyperfixation
Since the server has the expedition starting on the 22nd, Id say a few hours before that start date to make sure every platform has the update available
I do wonder... if this one will fix the mismatch between Switch versions and the rest of the platforms
Would make sense for HG to wait for another update rather than fixing that a week or so before new content
Betting base building with Halloween....
I'm surprised there aren't as many comments about the switch discrepancy on the emoji post, but they mightve been drowned out by the emoji hype I suppose
I think its a bit naughty that they wont tell folks whats happening with switch 1
Fairly confident in Gateways being a follow-up Halloween expedition to The Cursed, but I'd be glad to be surprised
seen a couple obligatory "is this announcing the door closing on NMS and opening on LNF?" posts already
Was The Cursed also a Halloween expedition? I know they called it a "spooky" exped
I mean, given The Doors, Light My Fire... the connection is irresistible lol.
I'd be wondering a bit about LNF too if I didn't know about the scheduled expedition.
After the era of silkposting, is our year of lightposting!
I just think it's funny to imagine that HG would hype up the cancellation of No Man's Sky with an emoji post lol
Exactly
I wouldn't be surprised that when LNF eventually releases there will be crossover events
Hmm, we were called the backdoor in In Stellar Multitudes Right right?
Dammit, I wish so much the update was about that.
The unused purple system missions are kinda enticing to speculate about in regards to backdoor, but I don't think this'll be the full update tied to those still. Maybe a teaser for a larger update next year?
Would be nice if those got replaced with working portals, and they reintroduce the no building limitation specifically for those as sort of a window into the void for people who haven't gone through the story yet
Temporary teleport to the void (purple systems)
Yeah, I feel this would be a matter for something bigger in 2026. But I'd be very happy to be wrong lol.
I couldn't imagine Voyagers would be a thing, at least so soon, and yet here we are...
The void isnt the purple systems though
It seems to refer to the void left behind after the planet was mined out
They will never stop 😭
Just hoping on more Corvette updates
Update is just 50 new door parts for various base building stuff
Doors.... exit from the sim?
Internal Doors on corvettes 🙏
Doors .....to the other side? The world of glass?
Doors... what are other types of doors.
Vault?
Could also be a threshold, or crossing.
Proc gen dunegons?
Might be a play on the word too like 🍊 origin
I still dont think the world of glass is gonna be something we can explore
Rhymes with door hinge
Always wanted them to use the Derelict Freighter rooms for maybe derelict underground bases on planets
Its considered a miracle that those who were there managed to get out at all
Door ... as Gate? Gateway?
🚪 trick or treat
Ooooo
I feel its a place of rigidity, where you are meant to be still and finished, rather than continuing to change
It'd actually be a great space for proc dungeons that don't make sense as constructs right? You could have lots of weird things show up and gravity change
Good one
I don't think they'd go as far as making a full alternate realm to explore (unless that's somehow also something in LNF), so having those mandible creatures cross over might make more sense.
But we still haven't gotten any environment where the boundary hazard's been used again either
I dont think the lore of the world of glass fits with proc gen dungeons tbh
If it was NPCs being able to walk around, something I really want, I hope they use 🏃♂️
Maybe raids ..time limited . For end game loot and cool stuff
Could be like a drop-in raid type system? Being an incredibly hostile place, travelers nights be able to just drop in for certain missions before having to beam out to the anomaly or something. Hell the only traveller we know of who returned from the World of Glass was the author of the base computer archives
Like when u run out unique enviroment prot u got teleported back to the sim
Yeah, but its supposed to be an archive, and a place thats hard to escape. Making it able to be just jumped in and out of kinda trivializes it. Then its like "why was it hard to leave here"
From how its described, I think it would literally drain your shield to be there
What would they do for an expedition around trick or treat?
Existing in the world of glass is painful
Wasn't that happening in the cursed expedition?
Fighting unique enemies. Glass angels and void dragons.
I think they were leaning towards portal corruption being how you're lead into the WOG with The Cursed though, like how Artemis found themselves outside of the known universe thanks to a collapsing portal. It's not specified that they're in the world of glass but I think we get enough hinting towards that?
Hmmm... good point
I really want to see the void dragons
Artemis also found themselves there because they died
Would love a 🚪 to the realm of glass
my fav prediction so far
Something spooky would be appreciated for sure
I dont remember what log mentions glass angels, but it makes me think of the aerons
isnt there a glass angel as a catchable fish?
Sentinel pillar told about void dragons and glass angels
Was the Cursed expedition that had those... phenomena in the planets? Heavy distortions in the atmosphere, etc.?
It mentioned specificaly "glass angels"
What about doors for things to come out of the realm of glass, maybe base defense 😅
Oh yea, it's weird how existence in the World of Glass works. I thought being archived would be akin to being on a read-only drive but, there's an account of a first spawn gel just chilling there before falling to the family of glass
Yep
And allusions to the world of glass, portals and Artemis
Well its broken like everything else is, so its malfunctioning
The giant space jellyfish were awesome, I'd love to see space full of weird stuff like that
Maybe some systems will turn to world of glass? With all that dissonance going
Hmm... quite interesting. I'd love to see that coming back
I think it is supposed to be similar to read-only or compressed data storage
Were? They can still be encountered
Plus with the sentinels being the main archiving function, which are seemingly all under the VM's command I guess it might not be used for its original purpose anymore
I liked seeing them in the skyline mostly
Not all of them follow her
The hive is not as united as it appears to be
Need to use that Station override....
Dissonance is the void mother pushing into the simulation
Fair, I can't remember all of the pillar dialogue, just the bits that mention finding her voice which were probably laylaps' memories anyway
Somehow I had completely forgotten about those lol.
World of glass is basicaly world of the dead right? Or at least it functions simliar
I think that's fair given that it's been 4+ years now
Its the simulation archives
For all simulations
Goodness. I remember the many months people wondered about its use lol. Seems like it happened more recently.
Ok so that mean yes for me
They did NOT help put the fire out by giving it away in cartographers 🙏
I remember saving my save for that expedition specifically just to have an override on hand the second they became useful
Isn't Telamon in the realm of glass?
Telamon is attached to the travellers
Artemis is
Was
And first spawn
Did Telamon come from there
LOL, same. Kept that for a long time.
No, telamon is another function of Atlas
Its the same sort of thing as the aerons as a whole are
Telamon was a sub protocol of the Atlas which was connected to the travellers' suits
Echoes are remnants, but its unclear exactly how much of the original they represent
Iirc one of the creepy voice popups in The Cursed mentions that Artemis is Dead. Given HG's distaste for actually meaningful choices, I kinda read that as no matter what we did to Artemis, they are truly gone
Thats why i claim that world of glass is the world of the dead. It also fits the haloween theme
Right, I figured any artimes we save is a copy, and since we don't truly know them, we'll never know how accurate it is
Thats what we are told in the storyline
The ghost squids yup
Are those explicitly called the family of glass? I don't recall that name being thrown out there. The closest thing we have as a confirmed resident of whatever lies beyond the portal network are the mandible heads given as a reward in The Cursed.
Now im not sure. If i play cursed save now will they popup?
Pretty sure they should still work if you use that offline tool without modifying the expedition number
If the save hasn't been converted to a normal mode save it might still pop up? I'm not sure about the per-save caching of the SeasonModeData after the terminal was added
It was converted sadly
Ahh they won't pop up then, they have specific function calls for those showing up in certain expedition numbers only
Reminds me minecraft nether portals for some reason. Probably bc all the talk about world of glass
That is a good cape
Coulda sworn there was at least one other log that called them that
HG (atleast Paul Weir) have read their older lore bits recently, so building on previously discontinued threads might not be out of the question
Yep, the elixirs function in the normal game too
Sean trolling us now...
Are there any transcripts of this perchance?
I keep hoping that the Omega feature will get expanded upon. The one where you get a choice to either turn down or join the atlas.
The patch notes were like "This choice will PERMANENTLY affect your relationship with the Atlas FOREVER!!!"
And how does it play out?
The item that you get has a different name and icon I guess....... Cool?
Always Sign me up for more lore and story paths
A lot of people did both, so I don't know what they'd do about that
Maybe ghost squids will get to the main game
Im also not quite as sure about whether portals lead through the realm of glass
Im trying to think haloween oriented
Yes, the Atlasescence and End Routine vocals are abandoned building and Telamon logs spliced respectively
They're already in the game though. You summon them by fishing of all things.
Oh so I have them, lol
Not the big one.
Yes, the big one too.
The small ones that talk to you
HG are scared of commitment haha. They have an awful track record with making actually meaningful chocies
Are you not talking about these?
I mostly want them in a biome, with the curse like the expedition somehow
They fleshed out an entire new hazard type to work with those creatures... Really hope they port em over to the main game eventually
Oh I just remembered that the little ones showed up on their own in the expedition.
But they also show up in the base game when you summon the big duder.
Yeah . Would be shame to not use the mechanic
That's how they've handled a lot of the previous exped-only mechanics being ported over to the main game, so it's probably how HG'll handle porting these over too
Yeah it's weird how they got added to the base game as a very obscure (pointless) boss that you can summon by pressing a button in your inventory.
Same with the bug queen, I dunno why they add bosses like that.
Pls sean fix abandoned buildings 🙏 logs
Bc pepole at the time wanted more boses basicaly
We'll probably never get the ability to shoot walking npcs haha
NMS has like 50+ enemy types at this point but people keep asking for more.
I honestly think people want better combat but they don't know it.
Like... adding a new enemy type isn't gonna make existing combat with existing enemies any more fun.
I think they're aware that lore seekers in game are kinda low with all the game analytics calls they've set up, but for stuff like expeditions where the Lore's kinda thrown in your face, that's fair
What ever happened to the shuttle customisation? When they first showed the older ships customisation in the trailer it had a shuttle in the hologram
Dunno why it was scrapped, but I'd be surpirsed if they added it at this point
Still technically fully fleshed out in the files, just unused
I actually like the combat as is, I do think I want a few more options like ground fighting npcs, and having my squad walk around with me, and companion fighting
Pepole dont read the expedition txt anyways 😂
Had coment some time ago
"Expedition have story?!" 🤣
The only thing I need in terms of combat is a weapon wheel, which I've been begging HG for for years now
More bullet hell gameplay could be fun
The main issue I have with combat is the player movement feels weirdly very clunky. I dunno how to explain it. It's like it's impossible to be precise and speedy so all the enemies are forced to act lobotomized to keep it fair, but feels so unrewarding.
damn, another update already?
OH one thing I absolutely don't like is how none of the enemies in the whole entire game ever telegraph their attacks at all.
Except the floating stone guardians. (which I swear are probably lifted straigth from LNF lol)
I do think it's very aim and shoot but I like it haha
In terms of combat i would want even higher sentinel security planets like the one from pre release photo with multiple walker sentinels
As much as folks dissed Starfield the on foot & space fights felt like they had weight to them.
Derelicts seem to imply that the main danger that caused the wreck has passed
By the time we get to them
Yeah there's tons of bugs that have been in the game for years and didn't get addressed.
Anyway, I hope this update either
- adds spacewalk gameplay or
- overhauls planeteary outposts
Some new animal behaviors would be cool
I think planetary outposts are the very last thing in the game that haven't been touched since launch.
I'm sure it'll be good whatever they do, the degree of goodness will be the interesting part
Thing uhhh. Boundary anomaly decoration being useful again would be neat
You think you can take on the sort of thing that wrecked a freighter from the inside?
Would be beautiful seeing that lil "lifesigns: 0" text in the bottom switch to "lifesigns: anomalous" or something one day lol
Lifesigns -0
With multiple egg nests 😂
The Last Traveller is the biggest horror of the game, if given enough upgrades
A lot of the disasters involve time loops/paradoxes and mind control
I think we'll probably see spacewalk gameplay next year hopefully
What are you gonna do when your own body turns against you?
With spooky title . The disruptor
They just need to start spawning space fauna and flora, to discover in asteroid fields
Like fish
Being the backdoor to reality would power scale the traveller a lot more if they knew what they could do with that power haha
Great title for that matter
Several iterations of Telamon have already sacrificed their travellers to the Void Mother though 🤷
Well . We need to match power lvl of the creator at the end
Dont be so sure
Ohhh, it would.
I think the remaking the creator goal is more focused on trying to get a fully working simulation of their brain to have a mind capable of getting the Atlas out of its dilemma moreso than actually transcending the simulation
You think Telamon has your best interests in mind?
Also the creator wasn't really powerful, they just actually knew how Atlas functions
Telamon is such an interesting character to think about. Am omniversal observer / god being split up across iterations. How much of each individual Telamon's actions are reflective of the original Telamon then? What would a reconstituted Telamon think of all of it's individual decisions when split? It's implied that they make differing choices and decisions for each traveller they're attached to, despite being formed from the same initial omniscient being
Maybe that what atlas wants? So creator can fix him.?
"Sometimes I dream of the traveller..."
Ehh, the Atlas wants to know why it must die alone
Im not sure if the Telamons are individual
The Atlas wants to see past it's death and not be alone in its final moments, and it creates the travellers to summon it's creator, not for self preservation. The void mother trying to recreate the creator would probably be in a bid to save the simulation though
He wants to see beyond its moment of death
Though there may be some lore i missed
Ok its wants are multifaceted
The boundary failure logs show Telamon lamenting about being attached to a single observer, meaning that they can't access multiversal data anymore, but we know that each traveller has a version of Telamon with them, so they're not exactly linked either
It wants to know if it won't be alone, it wants to understand why it was abandoned, it wants to understand what is broken with it
Was it every traveller or every last traveller?
If atlas scanned crators mind then he would already know that huh
Something has gone wrong with the scan
Or he forgor bc errors n shit
And damage
I know some doubt the atlas is actually currently dying, but it is definitely damaged and degrading
Ther is nooone to push the restart button 🙁
No thats us and it hasn't been working
I believe it's every single traveller, since Telamon is seen conversing with what appears to be null (or some traveller trying to access the Atlas' terminal), and eventually also the last traveller (after several years pass). There's several references to voices in traveller exosuits malfunctioning (the weekend missions lore) and the hives mention Telamon's having sacrificed their travellers, which is likely non-player travellers, so not just the last traveller
I meam restart atlas button outside the sim ..not restart the the simulation
The furthest im willing to go with Atlas lying about its situation theory is that it might not be a black hole that's destroying it
You... think theres a difference?
The way Atlas frames it, it is not
I can restart a game while pc is still running
Atlas is trying to restart itself because of the "turn it off and back on, itll probably be fine then" method
Thats why it calls you to restart it
It's simulated it's downfall down to the last minute, but can't see past it's actual death, which is what troubles it. It's seen its own corruption (traveller can see traveller, etc)
Sometimes NMS's lore seems more complicated than Metal Gear Solid's, and that's saying something lol.
Xd
Oh yeah? Well I recently realized the old anomaly questlines and dialog are still canon, so theres that
I love mgs . Mgs is more meta in diffrent way tho
I don't think I ever had access to those, unless they are still in the game somehow. 😕
Nothing says "complicated lore" like realizing you helped an npc figure out their reality is a simulation in a previous version of the game
Oh goodness.
Yeah pre-beyond Nada's story is a crisis of faith as they try to reconcile their increasing understanding of the universe with a god who seems to not care, eventually learning the truth of reality thanks to the help of the player
But now they know from the start
Because they already knew it now
...I should have gotten the game earlier...
And polo is happy now that theres more friends in the anomaly
Dude I legit forgot about that aspect of the story until I found transcripts of the logs on nmsresources and they triggered my memory
Also these memories rekindled my attachment to polo and I hope they're made more interactable again in the future
Ok well my memories got new iterationed or something
I just remember how there were some people upset that Nada knew about the truth "the whole time" and it hits different realizing you were there when they found it out
Polo was horribly depressed before beyond though
nada also doesnt tell us everything .
That is something that concerns me a lot
Especially because I dont know if Nada is aware of that
Nada ia sus. Maybe it does not have bad intentions but it is sus
Nada had a crisis, and likely figures that you need to uncover the truth for yourself to understand
I also dont trust polo lol
Polo is best gek! How could you not trust!?
He Has all the atlas station and black holes coords just like that ?
Oh I also am not sure that resetting the simulation actually deletes the previous one at all, canonically
Well it used to be more complex, so I guess the process got refined
We know there can be multiple sim running from terminal prime
Nada acts in a weird way after you reset the simulation -- I always felt that
I have not reset the simulation yet, does core jumping get the same reaction?
Not sure, I always did it via The Purge 😅
I think so but im not 100% sure
Oh
I only reached the end of the purge once so far, and I wasn't ready to jump (for more reasons than just not prepping my tech and ship, lol)
Only way to know is day 1 disk
We need to find longplays on YouTube
I remember hearing that, when the game first came out, people assumed it literally just put you back out in the same galaxy
Idk when the realization of multiple galaxies occurred
Not long after i think
Well, cant wait to sound like a madman trying to explain parts of the lore new players literally weren't there to see
Not mentioning the arg
The ARG is so confusing with how much it applies to the game lore
I interpret it as like a precursor to the Atlas of the game
Though I tend to forget specific aspects
We have #waking-titan-news
I mostly know a few things about game Atlas that are important
- Atlas was not meant to be conscious when it was built/programmed
- Because of this, Atlas does not have the same sort of thought processes, experiences, and expressions that humans have
I was not there at the time of walking titan 🙁
I thought there was a third thing that was relevant but I cant think of it, lol
Well it must be, to some degree
(Thanks Telamon)
I just want... you know... literally every log/dialog ever to be viewable in my catalog
I dont care how minor or irrelevant to the overarching story and lore they may seem
Im missing 17logs
Some logs dont appear in your catalog regardless
Ik
Crashed ships, for example
I also want all the dialog, not summary
"Book of Glass: the complete story of No Man's Sky"
True
I want both
Not just that
1616 pages tome 1/16
Telamon doesnt mention Atlas as a possible suspect
In fact, it seems to think it is not the Atlas
My current guess is, well, who else but the Void Mother?
They also put something into the food the other specialists eat
Something that changes them
Also, ive noticed a certain theme with temporal stuff
Telamon claims that Atlas cannot do time travel stuff, but we definitely see something like it occur
Well, they were "chosen"
Now when did time travel stuff culminate in terms of player interaction?
The leviathan
I dont remember specific examples, but living ships and frigates are related to the void mother
Time paradoxes seem distinctly connected to her
So maybe she can alter time in some way that Atlas cannot
Leviathan had a lot of Temporal stuff
Yeah, I wasn't sure how to explain titan worms being linked to VM because the easy counter is "but they are called the veins of Atlas" and idk a good response to that yet, lol
Yes, but there isnt much other information on the worms
One?
Pretty sure the ropes do too
From before the destruction
Back when she was still alive
Or its a different but related creature
Or the life cycle is more complicated
Opportunity/Gateway
Not just the color, the shape is different
And leviathan spawn
Titan worm larve is connected to the titan worm. Description said it "many mouths hunger for their home in the sands"
Leviathan spawn has something like. "So small and fragile, Despite many years under waves . And yet thousands more years must pass before it joins the great herds in the stars"
I think i started playing after Abyss was already out, so I wouldnt know
Ohhh, eye wraiths didnt exist until relatively recently
Im fairly sure
Honestly I think they were added after the titan worm models were introduced
Like I think worm wraiths were a thing before eye wraiths
The flying snake versions of the abyssal horror eye things weren't added till Emergence, same time as the worm version
I just saw a speculation video with ai parts about the emoji & its crazy what can be created nowadays...
No wonder artists complain
Expedition 4?
I know that feeling, lol
No, there was another
The name just left my brain aaaaa
LIQUIDATORS
Cursed expedition
Liqidators didint add much to the worms lore tho.
I think Cursed also had the worm planets
Besides that dude that turned into a bug
Like the fisherman that turned into a octopus
Me too
I duped him so i could cook him to see if i get unique recipe
Just for a chuckle skip to 10min 25sec mark & watch this nms ai clip:
https://youtu.be/SERH3uKWhkM?si=xc2ezLlQKgYCikiY
(It has stuff like the realm of glass, mother, attacking stations & override)
Vile spawn are related to worms
In fact I think vile brood originally referred to the worms
||Telamon tells the Void Mother about irl pop culture events||
Not the horrors?
^
Fish Helmets where most random to me
The boot
The worms have such a strange history, from a meta perspective:
-Introduced in 2013/2014 as an obvious homage to Dune
-At some point before release they get removed due to playtester feedback
-Their parts are combined with the wraith creature type to create the flying snakes
-Flying snakes and eels get their parts pools combined as well, causing the worm parts to be present in both creatures
-Origins drops four years after release, reimplementing the sandworms. They keep some of the wraith and eel parts. They are also tied more to 'late game' planets than sandy ones.
-A year later, Emergence drops, bringing a ton of new sandworm parts (including some that resemble the original reveal trailer ones). The expedition introduces the larvae and 'nests' and rebrands the sandworms to Titan Worms.
-Players are confused that "worm ridden" planets don't actually have the worms, so HG makes them guaranteed to spawn on infested planets and the nests from expedition 4 are added to those planets.
And still cannot scan the heads
You dont need to for getting a reading on them
For the wonders etc...
Functionally, worms are all identical, and they seem more like individuals than species
I think the only reason they show up on your scanner is so you get the "ooh new animal! Wait why is it moving so fast-OH GOD ITS GETTING CLOSER"
They have a marker on the head but the scanner fails
You can read their info still
Oh its been a long time since I tried
I saw one recently that had info such as "stomach contents: full of sentinels"
Now we know their diet haha
Oh thats one of the less concerning stomach contents
I think one person found a worm that had the remains of either a trading post or planetary archives in the stomach
Add that to the list of "horrifying background events" in this game
Worm Lord Gargantuan Colossal Being Giant Parasite Planetary Maggot Unstoppable Nematode Ceaseless Burrower The Consumer are all the 'class' descriptors for the worms
stomach contents can be Unpleasant liquid Lost starships Many Sentinels Rubble Minerals Magma Mostly sand Other gargantuans Horrific Eggs Layers of teeth Freighter components Planetary beacon Consumed waypoints Entire trade outpost Several Gek Sentinel walkers
I am still confused on Starbirth's Flesh on Metal Bones 's coordinates. Where in the game translates portal glyph into understandable englishs? travelers or i have to bilnd guess?
The names correspond to glyphs, theres translations online
And the adrift expedition makes them sound like elephants.
Sean shared this after the emoji dropped. It's not the first time he's done this... but I think he's using fan screenshots to give hints for what the update is about.
Player is standing in a doorway... freighter in the screenshot. There's been datamines about a freighter overhaul, maybe that's it?
would be super convenient if a random fan's screenshot would happen to perfectly hint at the update
more likely it just had a "doorway" and that's why he tweeted it
looks like we have a new emoji
a door?
so it is a freighter overhaul considering we have the screenshot as well
??
so when will the hype channel be reactivated hehe?
Now
yasss
I dont think the freighter is connected to the update. But i would like new freighter stuff like living freighters
just read @ebon spoke's message and yeah it could be because of the doorway that the screenshot was posted
May this next update fix the various broken ship animations
But yeahh surely the freighter is the focal point of the image, I highly doubt it wasn't chosen intentionally
I dunno, a freighter overhaul so soon after an update as big as adding corvettes seems kinda unlikely
yeahh true that
and I am surprised they'd just leave corvettes at just the 3 classes we have
I still like my half-joking idea that the update will add like 50 new doors
I dont like the idea of havng 300 corvette parts when i have options locked so i cant just go to creative for free build.
it is probably to incentivize exploration... kinda like ship hunting
nighty night
Jehovah witness update 😂 . Would u like to talk about our lord and savior hirk? 😂
Ooooh that gives me idea. npc walking and visiting your bases
It fits to the haloween theme with kids walking around and gathering candy .
I like the idea.
don't they already do that? landing pads on bases are used by NPCs to land and stay for a while
and you can trade with them
Yeah but they stay only on pad area
probably to save on a complex path finding algo
Maybe we could get wandering npc walking on planet surface
Pathfinding is borked anywyas for settlements
waitttt I just thought of the door update in this way... could it mean a derelict overhaul???
doors do play a considerable role in finding your way around
Korvax CONVERGENCE
Biblicaly accurate korvax
There is a lot of closed doors on space station.
And at least one closed on anomaly
Or maybe...
It is an update that will open new doors
New posibilities
When one door opens, another closes
Or they dump new windows 😂
like Microsoft did a few days back with Windows 10
Oh that's disturbing. I have never scanned those worms before. I should pay more attention.
I think we're way past thinking that a big update can't happen soon after a big update.
It's happened so many times already lol.
Sentinel, Outlaws and Endurance were released months apart.
Then there were some smaller updates in a row, followed by big updates again... the size of one update isn't a good indicator for how big the next update will be.
Also I'm going crazy, Sean just reposted a bunch of corvette pics and ended it on reposting the freighter image and the door emoji... they have to mean something.
finally we can land our corvettes properly on the freighters instead of the placeholder hologram ??!!!
Yeah. That he liked the pic 😆
Someone here datamined landing pads for corvettes in freighter hangers as well as the ability to own 8 freighters for some reason.
The current corvette landing pads for freighters definitely feel like placeholders.
We would need bigger freighter hangar DOOR for corvettes
8??
FOR THE REPUBLIC!!!
But how the heck can we maintain so many?
and expeditions?? we are going to need fuel tankers in that case to mine frigate fuel automatically
If it is a freighter update, I'm interested to see just how dramatically they'll get changed to require the option to own more than one.
The only thing I really want is the ability to just upgrade their class lol.
I am holding onto my A class Venator just for that copium
For cheap nanite price of
100k C-B
200k B-A
350k A-S
okay I mean that does kinda make sense since it is a freighter, comes with huge investment
But doing it for 8 is back-breaking XD
Yeah same, it's just funny to see datamines of it.
maybe AI controlled freighters ??
Or only our main freighter will be upgradeable
as part of your fleet
I'd rather have frigates overhauled, they're just so empty..
And repairing them is just a click of a button when it could be something more exciting than that.
I expected to see actual damage and destroyed parts
like?
a mini-game?
Yeah. A variation of minigames to repair it. And if you fail it, you could then choose to repair it by spending money or an item anyway. I think that'd be better. 😄
Sounds like amongus
yeahh that sounds pretty interesting
Honestly I think that kind of thing could also be added to the malfunctioning outposts too.
8 freighters? 😮
We should be able to harvest freighter fuel from gas giants.
exactly... the pirates seem to get it from somewhere, we should be able to do the same
and probably add fuel depots like Cloud City from Star Wars while they are at it to gas giants
We can make it from deuterium but it makes sense to be able mine deuterium instead of just refining hydrogen.
we do see the deuterium rich plants.. when i first started out I thought we could extract them
I'd love this.
Deuterium crystals, which are like even larger versions than large hydrogen crystals also sounds like an idea to me
and the fuel frigates should actually do something
they reduce fuel consumption but I think there is a limit of frigates upto which they could do that
I want a trash planet. A planet made entirely out of trash. Imagine, garbage frigates warp into the atmosphere and unload a lethal rain of trash for you to avoid.
something like Lotho Minor?
Milion would be too much imo. But maybe 1mil total on expensive settings could work
1 M units :)
Like
200
300
500
Even S living frigates costed up to 1 bil
Free stuff is free. I just hope the update wont wipe my wonders again
Any fauna change like replacing 1 animal causes a reroll of them all on the planet type from i saw
What should I do? (I don't mind spoilers.) Should I upload Artemis, or Allow Artemis to die? Thanks.
I uploaded.
How to trigger the purple jelly fish enemies?
Or they only appear in the cursed expedition?
Yes. Expedition only
Door
By using a Child of Aquarius, which summons Boundary Horrors alongside it
No adrift ghost frigate
not to like be the annoying guy but posts like these mean absolutely nothing
We need more pics to see if there is any patern that would hint any hidden meaning behind them . For now this is just a pic that sean likes
Yeah. They're merely reposts of community screenshots
I've recently started considering that maybe the pics Sean shares after an emoji actually have a meaning.
They're still fan screenshots, but I think Sean deliberately picks ones that point to the upcoming update.
Like after the emoji, he shares the freighter pic, then retweets a bunch of corvette pics, then the freighter pic and then retweets the emoji, like why in that order lol.
hate to echo that annoying guy but posts like these mean absolutely nothing
I mean the only reason I started believing it is because he's literally done it a few times already.
Tbh I think the more important thing in the picture is the arch, aka, a doorway
yea the only sequence of image tweets which were on purpose were the pot ones for Aquarius, and thats only because the person who posted the first image Sean reposted made a follow up with a pot in the scene, and I guess Sean liked that exchange
There was also that one with the ringed planet after the ringed planet emoji
-# Let me have this
So what's the consensus with the door emoji
Imo it's possible it's a play on words like Bacon - Beacons, but I've also heard people say it could be more literal like a Portal
Many bets on gateway
gateway to what, though? Not the world of glass?
Idk
hm
we'll see by Wednesday or Thursday
And I'll be back to my PC tomorrow afternoon so I can bug Bomberboi then
Wed more likely
yeah
One thing I'm wondering though is
How big will this update be? It can't be THAT big because we just got Voyagers
Probably the theme of the expedition, since The Cursed (another halloween exped) had a lot of portal allusions
good point
What if the door is a hint towards the VM coming through to realspace?
since The Cursed had allusions to the VM too
Given that In Stellar Multitudes literally terms us as "The Backdoor", I can see that working too
In Stellar Multitudes is also literally bringing her into the universe again
honwstly it would make sense tho
for a freighter update after corvettes
could be simmiliar building system
more usability for freighters
flying them like acrual ships
Flying freighters? Where turn takes like half of galaxy ? With 0 filed of view while in first person bridge view ? No thanks
Freighters are not gonna be flyable
Bomber, do we have like any info about the upcoming update? like expedition set up and stuff?
yeah thats a point still bad ass
yes? what is it then?!
niceee
If they do a lore focused update and still don't fix the Switch 1, HG gonna get... not rude, but VERY pointed feedback from me. 😛
I don't even care about corvettes at this point. Just give me non-corvette skydiving, space walks, the suit, all the non-corvette fixes. And preferably some good faith compensation for Switch 1 being blocked from an expedition. I'd be happy with that.
Or, they could surprise us and actually deliver mini corvettes specifically designed for Switch 1 hardware. But I'm annoyed with them right now, so I'm not banking on it. 😛
@grizzled apex What's your theory on the Switch 1 fiasco? Based on past predecent? Ideally, I'd like to think we're looking at another offline Nexus situation. Something tailored specifically to the Switch 1 hardware that won't lock players out of content. But it's hard to remain positive with the silence.
Based on the Switch specific corvette limits and the fact that the update was so delayed, I think the solution we got for Switch 1 was a last minute one. At the very least I'm sure you'll get the skyborn suit eventually, and hopefully if (when) they implement actual gameplay around the spacewalking feature they'll add the option to do it from normal ships as well so Switch players can also do it.
The only time I remember something like this happening was when Xbox didn't get Worlds P1 for a while and HG had "out on all platforms" on the site which certain people took to be false advertising. We did eventually get worlds P1 on all platforms w/o a statement from any party involved , so I'd assume they're working on getting corvettes working on Switch and don't want to lock themselves out of the possibility unless they find that the feature's 100% unfeasible on switch.
I feel like they might have more plans for spacewalking as a feature if they went the extra mile to properly implement it, so switch might see that arrive at the very least. So if we get a spacewalk / space POI update and switch gets it too, that might mean the corvettes are gonna take longer, if they come at all
Yall should know who the god in nms
What have I missed since Voyagers? I usually dip in and out around emoji/update time has there been any leaks from Voyagers and onward? Does anything hint at what this update could possibly be?
About this update specifically, we only know there's an expedition set to begin next wednesday.
But some interesting stuff was datamined, probably for later (or never, who knows).
- few unused corvette parts
- a bit more on the void mother lore if I recall correctly
- lines about freighters, indicating some kind of expanded ownership, up to 8
Void Mother lore and Freighters sound very interesting. I kind of wonder if Freighters will see some love that the corvettes got but the only concern with that is the fact it will make corvettes not as special or redundant but not really a issue in my eyes.
Wait, what would the extra freighters even be used for?
for the tactics sidegame, of course
My best guess is just to swap them out, similar to having multiple multitools
Opens the door for unique freighters as expedition rewards, too
ngl corvettes made everything else not special
freighters only good because of the scanning room
and regular ships are faster and nicer to fly ngl
I find it funny how when Voyagers got announced, people thought it was the last update and HG was dropping support.
..Then thy released a deep dive video where Sean literally said Voyagers enabled new possibilities for the game and he's excited for the game's future.
And now with the very next update announcement... some people think they're dropping support lmao.
If even after all this, some people keep thinking that, there's no hope
NMS is here to STAY
It's been the last update for the last 10 or so updates
It definitely feels like the basis for something much bigger down the line. It's got its own animations and it works too nicely and seamlessly for them to not be planning anything with it imo
The door has got me thinking EVA but there's other stuff it could be too ig
Honestly it's probably been talked about pretty by at least some people for almost 10 years atp
The firs thing I imagine for spacewalking is they make it available for regular starships too and then they overhaul asteroid mining where we get out of our ships and mine deposits on asteroid with our multitool.
And a difficulty option to switch back to the current casual way of mining.
Yeah, they could add caves and stuff too
Also a lot of older POIs such as the non boardable derelicts could eventually have more functionality
Oh yeah, if you spacewalk up to those, they're just upscaled crashed freighters. They have the same layout with destructable doors and cargopods inside them. But you can't bust down the doors.
if we really are getting a bunch of freighters then maybe door = porte = port. like a port for ships
I think its interesting that we already got the 3 emoji tweet yesterday? I know its never been outwardly confirmed, but I thought it was generally accepted that meant 'three days away'. But we also usually get that one on a monday unless i'm mistaken? For a Wednesday release?
That would put it as Monday, but we've never had a monday update, unless expedition only. But the expedition is slated for wednesday?
We gonna have another expedition??
According to @grizzled apex there's one server side set to go off on wednesday
But plans could change ofc
Also i've missed any predictions that have been going around but i suspect this is 'gateway' and will take us to the realm of glass.
I think HG probably never planned for us to go to the realm of glass, but with the way everyone has been theorising that we will, they probably had to make it happen hehe. Same as Gas Giants feel very community led.
I always thought 3 emojis was confirmation it's a content update and not just an expedition.
and what can we explore there should the World of Glass be released?? Maybe we can stop the sentinels in their tracks before they ever start?
(just throwing things at the wall)
I still hope the door mean new gateway door so new netcode for multiplayer
Nope, it means the update is close
The door means they are walking away from the current broken refiners and making some new ones
holy shucks you just reminded me, I just forgot about my runway mould in the refiner XDD
Not my fault it takes 2 hours
Since we can now leave the seat while in space at full speed, would you be happy to have the possibility of moving from system to system without going through the Distortion?
that would probably take ages
I don't know if it's technically possible to be honest, but we said the same thing for the Corvettes so...
Nearest solar system to our own is Alpha Centauri, a whopping 4 LY (40 trillion kilometers). Since for the most part NMS simulates our own universe, it would be really unrealistic.
Besides we know the suns we see in NMS are fake so traveling manually to another system means they'd have to simulate that as well.
Technically it is possible, but I don't think it adds anything to the game (just my thoughts)
I think adding this would be a big problem, first of all because we must not forget that each system is instanced, so there are already a lot of problems with spawning in synchronous multiplayer.Desynchronization etc, it won't help
Exactly, honestly I would be happy if a patch is dedicated to just bug-fixing
Let's be as honest as possible, the multiplayer netcode of No Man Sky is just... Shit.
I really, really hope that a whole new netcode is developed for light no fire Otherwise I really think it's going to be hell.
Considering MP is a major selling point for LNF, I would assume they would have
And test in no man sky ? Like all the other tech ?
Closed mp sesions would be already improvement
Possibly, or maybe it is too complicated to retrofit since LNF is built from scratch while NMS is already 10 years old
If i want to play only with friends for example and save some game performance
Technically it's possible to keep the no man sky netcode and make servers dedicated to the new netcode, but I highly doubt that's what they'll do.
And lets be realistic. There will be a lot of bugs on release anyways
to be fair its possible
last time it was posted on sunday
and it realesed on wensday
Yes, the game already use hybrid network, P2P for multiplayer and Backend for discovery, so another one would be...
so 3 days before the update
but like this time sean posted an emoji earlier than usual
so take that into consideration
but again
we didnt get a sale for nms yet
so idk
Theory: The door means a moderation system that will ban all players using save edits or duplication glitches.
The next day : -90% of active player
The personal refiners are totally fine, never had an issue
If it's in the refiner, yes
rip my 4000 nanites
So guys, what are your theories about de door
We're as the 🚪 update?
Gateway to the World of Glass
Hah no, im soo sooo confident this update is a small one
@tawny cedar
No stickers in this channel please
We can spawncamp the sentinels
rip your pact 😂
Ez sentiments kills
What
it is going to be a big update 😌
Nope
Haha corvet go grrrrrr...
You better get ready for a new username hahaha
Mh
Fr
but I understand where you are coming from
Corvettes update was a huge one
And some of the bugs from that are still present
We literally got 6.0,
They dont do big stuff at the end of a year,
The expedition is set up to be this wednesday, not next week (sign for a small update)
The Switch debacle also is still unresolved
Pov sentinels: oh s*** we are dead well good life 🤣
Corvet active players: 100 000
Doors update: active players 1 000 000 000
But arguably the most interesting idea is that it has nothing to do with No Man's Sky, and Sean Murray is actually hinting at Light No Fire - this isn't entirely baseless, either. As numerous commenters have pointed out, American rock band the Doors have a song called 'Light My Fire', and the emoji may be a subtle nod, teasing some kind of news about the ambitious upcoming survival sandbox. Given that we just had a No Man's Sky update, it's a compelling theory
From a Gamer article: https://www.thegamer.com/no-mans-sky-nms-update-tease-door-emoji-sean-murray/
No way the emoji referred to LNF.. The game isn't even out
Door to 1 free
No man 's door
Yes. Its not for lnf . Lnf has own tweeter and social medias. If it was for lnf he would post it there. Atm all gaming "journalists" are just spitbaling and speculating. We already know that highest chance for lnf info to drop is on the games awards.
Might be another Fractal. Fractal was an expedition, small fixes + a lot of fixes for missing Switch content.
the LNF copium is insane
Weeell . Its nominated to most wanted game on golden joystick awards along with GTA6
They better cook and not burn like NMS at launch
Thats why they stay dead silent
Just reached the galactic center of Euclid on permadeath survival!!!
I just find it a bit funny that #nms-expedition was just archived and now it has to possibly be reactivated xD
I wonder what the theme of the next expedition is going to be....
Desolation was the only proper Halloween update we've had, right?
I'd be excited for more dungeon type stuff
But I don't wanna get my hopes up there
We had an untitled "Halloween update" that changed Derelict generation iirc, and 2 Halloween expeds, but that's the main Halloween content update we've had so far afaik
I'd honestly be so excited to have a desolation 2
We've progressed far enough that some updates could do with updates of their own 😂
Not unlike the bones and beacon stuff ig
Not sure about the room generation, but they did change it to favour the alien eggs a lot more iirc. And then at some point I believe they nerfed them to all hell again since I haven't seen anything other than jellyfish derelicts for a while now...
Ehh, I dont think they were changed. The primary danger in derelicts is based on region, so if youre hanging around one region a lot, youll get the same sort of danger
Depends on which type you encounter tbh
If you dont have good crowd control, the eggs can be dangerous, and malfunctioning security is really tanky while doing heavy damage
Must be my luck across regions and saves then 🤷
HG does say that the dangers were updated in that patch, but not sure to what extent
Oh I didnt even note the drones in my considerations, lol. I meant the turrets
Idk, I remember being shot by one and immediately needing to hide
And end boss or a rush to exit the derelict at the end would be pretty neat imo, but I'm not sure how well the current end rooms would handle something like that pathfinding wise
To the point where when I encounter malfunctioning security, I target the turrets with my blaze javelin to take them out first
There is a sort of difficulty that the powerful weapons add, which is overconfidence
I legit remember thinking "oh I should be able to just casually get through all 5 waves of corrupted sentinels, only to get very rapidly humbled due to their surprisingly good swarm tactics and more common healing ability
It was the closest I had come to death in a combat encounter in a long while, though I think I had another similar encounter with something else, but I forgot what
Oh the rock guys, lol
I just remember trying out activating an ancient eye and being very surprised by the heavy hitting attacks
Heck, if they weren't as heavy with the self-sacrifice attacks, theyd probably have actually killed me
Well its multiple, they float, their animations make it kinda hard to keep track of their movements, and when they dont charge at you, they fling parts of themselves that explode
I found out about that first hand, lol
Only knowledge beforehand was reading the news post about them
I remember thinking it was just the one, focusing on it, then being hit and realizing there was a second one at least, and next thing I knew my shield was down
so the door thing could be a halloween update of sorts
ok i'm finally back to be able to ask
What do the signs say as far as the size of the update goes?
I assumed it'd be a smaller update, because we just got Voyagers, but I don't remember Hello Games' official account retweeting emojis unless it was for a bigger update
am I misremembering?
Generally it would mean a titled update, at least
There are really no patterns or signs to look out for in terms of the emoji posting
October updates are generally smaller, though
yeah i remember that, honestly i didnt think we were going to get another update at all until early 2026
the twitter activity just messed me up a bit
Living ships are wild, i am fascinated by that idea. Anyone know if there’s a way to mix eggs or mess with genetics to create something custom? Like full-on alien ship breeding or mutation tech? 🤔 Just wondering how deep this rabbit hole goes…
I have a question about the story and the primary missions...
Currently I have 3 primary missions
The purge
The space anomaly
The atlas path
Do i pick one to do to get a specific ending or can I do each one whenever I like. Is there and order or am I good to say complete the atlas path one then hop onto the purge one?
Unfortunately no, living ship design is based on the system and location you find the living ship at
Oh and living ship tech is described as organs
The UI is the same, but for upgrade modules you can "evolve" them at a nanite cost to increase their class
I seeee… would’ve been wild tho. I just find the whole living ship concept fascinating, like, its not just another freighter or starship, it’s something else. The way they designed it, it’s honestly one of the most creative things , what crazy wonderful game it is 🙌
I find them fascinating too
I am new, thanks for the tip, will work over it
No problem, also heads up, the mission where you get your first living ship will take about 5 days to complete, but most of that is literally just waiting so you can do other things while that happens
Yeah, finished it ,just 17 hours left 🤩 The waiting adds character. And yeah, jumping from planet to planet exploring is addictive, cuddling those creatures? The way they enjoy it 🤣 Nuts 🤣❤️💯
Funny enough, when you adopt creatures as companions, those you can have lay eggs that can be genetically modified
I’ve seen a bunch of videos on that and was wondering, when you genetically modify the eggs, is there always a set outcome? Or can itt actually lead to infinite possibilities depending on what you feed or tweak ?
So for most of the options, different things will tweak things one way or the other. This mostly goes for neural calibrator (behavior stats) and size. I havent experimented directly with coloration changes, so idk if its gradual or all in. The last one, something like genome shuffling, I heard has 2 outcomes depending on whether you supercharged it or not. Normal dose (anything 100% or less) will slightly change body parts, and extreme doses (over 100%) can shuffle everything except the creature type. I also heard that it does so consistently, so two eggs from the same creature with extreme doses produces the same outcome
makes sense now.so even with extreme doses, the creature type stays locked? That’s wild. I wonder if there’s any way to push it beyond those 2 outcomes, like some hidden mutation trigger or combo.... anyways is much to see while doing and experimenting around to find out i guess, but is intriguing
I think I understand the process behind it, because I played another game where I uncovered some pseudo-randomness in creature generation. My guess is gene shuffle is like multiplying the creature gen seed by a specific number, so you get a different appearance each time you do it, but if you use the same creature twice, you get consistent results
Ill definitely use the ai to crack it and build some kinda sweet Frankenstein 😂
do we know what the expedition rewards are?
darn
I feel that the Update will probably be called Gateway
It may be a Update for Freighters honestly, and I could see them updating the Sentinel Freighters
There is no easter bunny, there is no tooth fairy, and there is no World Of Glass Update
Bro is inhaling all the copium /s
I think it will be 'core' or at least related to the space station's core. Door = Core. We interacted with them last expedition and reached 100% as a community, but we didn't see the impact of reaching that. I think this update is the 'result' of us uploading our memories to station cores.
What that means content wise, I really couldn't say.
We got the 3 door emoji on Saturday, so if it wasn't that @grizzled apex saw that the new expedition is set for Wednesday, I would have said its an expedition only that is dropping today.
we need to remove the anthena
was there ever a case of just an expedition without any content update
thought adrift launched with worlds update
that was just last year alone, off the top of my head, the emergence expedition which was a halloween one, was also an expedition only
Adrift got turned into a proper game mode with worlds part 2, yes. But it was an expedition on its own first.
The 13th No Man's Sky expedition, ADRIFT, available to download today, sees Travellers navigating across an abandoned universe, bereft of the usual support systems of trading posts, space stations and merchants. Even the anomaly is eerily silent. Those who choose to embark on this limited time adventure will have to adapt their usual survival st...
or was it worlds part 1... probably 1!
aight but ngl i think we will get an actusl update
not sure if the 3 emojis mean its an update ir 3 days away
whatever
I hope so, but that makes a few expedition only updates especially for halloween
but after voyagers and hoe much players joined and bought the game
Emergence was an expedition only halloween update, and the cursed was a halloween expedition only.
they will wanna live up to the hype and put out even more because its quite quick we got another one
But yes i hope for lasting content too
i mean if they sre backporting features from lnf that also makes it easier for them to put our good updates faster
I would love for it to be planetary dungeons, or an update to derelicts, but i think we can expect something smaller since we've already had our big summer update.
I think something Aquarius sized, which came out shortly after worlds part 1
Hopefully the missing corvette turrets are added to the quicksilver store or game at least.
perhaps but who knows since worlds part 1 they have been spamming updates and a lot of them quite huge
we definetly should get new corvette larts
that were datamined
agree exploration rn is quite lacking
but id love freighter/fauna overhaul
It could be that they will make the expedition the headline feature to cover them doing just a small collection of corvette parts as the actual meat of the update.
fauna wasnt touched ever since
Srry to interrupt, one of you know anything about cross platform saves?
and i wish we got fauja like back on the Oria trailer
Sorry i've never really used the feature, best to ask in the help channel.
I am almost convinced it will be an update somehow related to space station's core. I really don't know what tho. But that would give them wiggle room to drop some new corvette parts as a secondary part of the update.
you gotta log in on nms website with your acc i believe thats what i did
for me it was steam and xbox
the core has been untouched ever since orbital
nothing really out of it
besides on the laste xpedition
well i could say that about most features in this game
We have the station override chips that have never come back into game
they are there but they are shallow
wide and shallow
thats what the game is rn
it lacks depth
Yes sadly I agree, but the truth is only new content sells new copies. They can only really revisit and improve existing content when an update has something else going for it. Like beacons 'improved' settlements, but the Switch 2 launch was the headline. Worlds could revisit planets because new biomes and flora is a good selling angle.
I texted you the details rq
I would like to see them revisit living ships, and tying them somehow into the world of glass would be a nice way to do that. But I think with corvettes being the new huge draw for new players, we will see the old ship types neglected for a while.
They would be silly not to capitalise on the attention corvettes have given them, so I could absolutely see them doing an update which is just more and more corvette parts, with an expedition to put meat on the bone.
Either way I'm convinced the community objective of the last expedition was a teaser for this update. But I could be wrong, and often am!
thats a good point honestly yeha
they either add stuff like buildable ships and stuff or something else that peaks interest
like who cares about aquarius
it probably didnt really make people buy the game
like voyagers did
but its just something cool they added
but again it keeps the game shallow still but just widens it again
which i dont like
living ships are so bad its crazy
terrible upgrades different fuel and bad stats
- hard to get
They are not bad. Just diffrent
My 26k dps spewing vents do dmg like 90k infra knife
So stats are not comperable between ship types
They def could use a refresh update tho
From my point of view, DPS are useless because when you reach a certain point you absolutely destroy all the ships without any effort in any case.
true
Hidden updates to NMS on SteamDB, potentially an internal if nothing else
Doesn't seem to be a global change
As in it isn't something that changed across several thousands of games
Other smaller asset changes or metadata changes aren't usually hidden this way, but iirc private branches like experimental getting updated usually shows this?
As much as we know there's at least an expedition, I hope that the main feature of this update is something repeatable and procedural in the way desolation was. If its excursions through tears in space into the realm of glass, then I hope there's a good reason to revisit it multiple times. I think desolation was a good way to approach content in a near infinitely procedural galaxy: Near infinitely procedural dungeons/content.
They'll prob make a completely new model imo
It's reasonable to believe they'll be working on procedural dungeon generation for LNF. I would love to see some of that tech make its way back to NMS.
That would make exotic planets worth visiting again. I haven't bothered to visit one in years because I know content wise they are the simplest planets.
I was thinking it could be cool if they got remade into something similar to how corrupted planets work
As in the exotic assets get applied in unison with whatever the usual base biome of a planet would be
given that the anniversary update was basically just (disappointingly) one feature, perhaps they had other features that didn't make it in time and will be thrown into this one
sort of a Doors Pt. 1, you might say
I disagree on it being disappointing personally
As someone who doesn't even touch MP it's still been super transformative, moreso than a lot of technically bigger stuff
well of course you can disagree, it was a subjective opinion
I'd be surprised if this update was bigger than fishing tbh
Since voyagers was pretty massive on a technical/ engine level
sure, but they usually have multiple mini-teams working on features in parallel
also I still suspect much of the voyagers code was ported over from the LNF boats team
but of course NMS had other challenges to solve
We'll see I guess. I'd love to be wrong
Though we've essentially had the equivalent of 2 summer updates this year
So I'm surprised we're getting at least an expedition, even
well I wasn't expecting another update at all this year, so I guess it's a mystery box
My dream for it would either be something EVA POI focused, or a desolation 2.0 type thing
Both spooky ofc
But realistically I think it might end up being some sort of chill, fishing sized feature we can do during EVA
Or base building potentially?
i wasnt either
we've gotten enough content already i'd assumed HG was going to sit out the late fall update and come in with a big one in january or february
Expedition + hopefully a Switch 1 corvette compromise that will play nice with the old hardware.
Or expedition + "Sorry, we tried but we couldn't get it to work" and compensation for unintentionally locking Switch 1 out of expedition content.
Part of me hopes for the Switch 1 crowd that there are some corvette updates in this one and so they just decided 'look we can pull this off, but lets take our time and just roll it in with the new corvette content.'
But I do get a feeling that this won't be a corvette focused update.
They could just give us a tiny pre-made corvette with limited customization options. Let us color change it or something. If the corvette building and size is what's spazzing the hardware out.
They work on the updates in tandem, so this update will have been in the works long before corvettes became a surprise hit for the game.
With how much had to be rewritten about the game to get corvettes to work, it could be just about anything, and maybe not even something corvette related directly?
if thats the case tho, its actually more promising. Because it means they have to bring the Switch 1 up to parity with the others just to continue to support it with new content.
I'm taking the dead silence as a positive. Even if I'm frustrated. It was obvious they thought it was going to work on Switch 1. Or it wouldn't have had a lower part count in the datamine.
And you'd have thought with how long its been in development most likely, that they would have already realised Switch 1 wasn't feasible long before release. Granted they didn't get it ready for release, but didn't they mention switch 1 in the release content? That at least means during development they meant it to work on switch 1?
The idea of a custom corvette exclusive to Switch 1 is a nice idea though. Would save some face if it was completely custom and exclusive to Switch 1.
I hope it's not an EVA thing, I really have zero interest in jumping out of spaceships to go mine an asteroid or something
I have a feeling the corvettes themselves work okay on switch, but the space station/anomaly/some other normally controlled scenes take up too much memory on switch to share space with corvettes. could be they're changing those environments to further integrate corvettes and didn't bother trying to squeeze corvettes onto switch until it's all done
Sounds like someone has a better idea of the technical issues than we do!
Wasn't the hitch we used to have with leaving planets something to do with the anomaly being loaded into memory?
Imagine if we get cities 😂😂
There was some person in #nms-the-future who said door means new buildings
We wont get cities :p
new buildings is a good one tho. I've been saying all year that the old POIs are in desperate need of an update and relevance
Yeahh, updated settlements also would be nice. Like okay we can't get cities for now cause of technical issues but they can start building towards it by allowing roads and trade networks between the existing settlements.
But all that aside, I do think we're in for a freighter revamp.
Just planet POIs in general. Some ambient natural ones, buildings. Its something that need to prove to us they can make engaging for the sake of LNF.
Eight freighters honestly seems way too overwhelming at least for me
LNF doesn't have the luxury of just hopping into space if u don't care for where you are
I can't maintain the one I already have loll
you have to travel across the landscape, and if there's not enough POIs that draw your attention, flying the dragon will get boring really fast.
So whatever they're doing to resolve that issue should be ported to NMS too
LNF definitely needs cities
It's literally one planet, making the whole world just miles and miles of farmland makes little sense
I get the feeling from their description that they will leave it up to the community to build those
Yeahh that seems nice too
They made a big point of persistent buildings and towns/cities built by players
I think it will be a mostly barren frontier that we are meant to settle.
I guess corvette building mechanics are a prelude to that
Maybe we can construct our own type of buildings
Cities Skylines style
But LNF aside, doors = new buildings does make sense
But no one expected Bacon = Beacon = settlements
Like I still can't make the connection even after all this time
I still think doors=cores. Since the last expedition made us interact with the space station cores
So space station update?
maybe not the space stations themselves
Maybe we'll get corrupted space stations
since we got that recently
maybe VM controlled space stations and space?
personally if they're going VM with this, I hope for the door to mean tears in space to the realm of glass.
I don't think the Korvax will just sit and watch in that case though 🤔
Or maybe they'll retcon it
I wouldn't be against station ownership since we know player actions are perfectly capable of influencing a system
Though I'm not sure how much it would offer vs the work it would take
Hmmmm
What about a portal update
They're useful but considering their lore they've lost their luster a bit over the years
i think this is pretty likely
Me too. We had a community event to reach 100% with the space station cores and uploading our memories. And until now, nothing has happened from that.
What do you think the feature could be?
CM contributions don't necessarily need a conclusion. Liquidator's CM progress wasn't tied to a big reveal, just unlocking the liquidator body parts for everyone.
Talking about cores, derelict stations just came to mind
Honestly the only examples of a CM changing something in game were probably singularity and beachhead, compared to more standard expeditions like Omega, Liquidators, Voyagers and Leviathan
Voyagers added the corvette workshops / landing pads, but afaik they're still mostly untouched apart from that
If they were to do another desolation type thing, they'd be an ideal place ngl
Though I'm not sold on the "core" name rn
That's the thing tho, this has literally done nothing.
It was made clear by HG from the start that the community would be unlocking the mech parts for everyone through their contributions
this time tho it appeared without rhyme or reason, HG never even really mentioned it in any of their patch notes, or what we were working towards.
Which is why I think it was more a teaser to lead into this next update.
"Accelerate the assembly of your first Corvette in a time-limited community expedition, offering exclusive rewards and a narrative-enhanced adventure. Your former starship has been damaged beyond repair, and the Sentinel horde is closing in. Take refuge in your Corvette - your one and only ship - maximise its stats and potential, and fight back against the horde!"
The parts were "rewards" for playing the expedition, just as the milestone's own rewards this expedition. Liquidators itself advertised the whole community contribution bit but only gave milestone rewards
is all we really had from them regarding the expedition, no notion of the fact there was even a community element until we were in the expedition and discovered it. I remember wondering why the percentage was not going up particularly high between rendesvous before it dawned on me it was a global percentage.
I thought liquidators unlocked the mech parts for the quicksilver store by people playing the optional milestones in the liquidator expedition?
So they made it clear that the community component of the expedition that was optional had a tangible result: unlocking mech parts for everyone to purchase via the quicksilver store.
Oop yep, was thinking about leviathan. that one had a CM contribution milestone set too, which only upgraded the quality of upgrades we got from the memory imprints
Meanwhile the voyagers expedition had a similar community component, yet we hit 100% and nothing happened as a result that we know?
mhm, that's why I think the 'reward' was us contributing to a narrative beat which will pay off this next update 🙂
We uploaded our memories to the station cores to rebuild its understanding of travellers. I wonder what the end goal of that would even be?
I honestly didn't even see much of a narrative (atleast to the point where HG could call it a "narrative-enhanced" expedition like they did). Emergence is kinda what you'd expect for a themed exped w/ a story
I didn't replay the expedition once we hit 100% to see if anything changed dialogue wise, but from what i understand nothing did.
Hell, even Aquarius did a better job at that
Yes i 100% agree with that. The whole uploading our memories to the station cores felt very left field too
like it almost felt unrelated to the expedition as a whole? Although maybe it had something to do with the amount of hostile sentinel planets you encountered in the expedition?
Perhaps narratively it was meant to imply that the sentinels were hostile because the Atlas had lost the data for anomalies/travellers, and assumed we were a threat. Then as you upload memories you rebuilt that data? If that were the case tho, why not have that happen throughout your own personal expedition, rather than have it be community driven? By the time i finished the expedition, it was still at 1% and calling me a threat!
The more I think it through the more i feel they rushed it and the intended narrative got lost. Maybe too focused on getting corvettes working to clean up the narrative of the expedition
it amounted to: Sentinels are bad, they destroyed your ship, most planets have hostile sentinels. Go build a corvette.
We're at the point in the simulation where realities (travellers) bleed through regularly. Wouldn't be strange if the universal "definition" of a threat needed more than just a single traveller's signature, given how varied we tend to be
I suppose so, in which case its a bit of a failing of the expedition narrative to communicate all this. I mean the hostility of the sentinels could be coincidental? There was nothing saying that the lost data on travellers is the reason for the sentinel's violence. Just a logical assumption.
Definitely a conspiracy theory, but I wonder if whatever's in 🚪 was meant to be a part of Voyagers too, and it's expedition was meant to be exped 19. Still kinda irks me that they missed the chance to have a VM themed exped tied to the number 19
If that's the case, maybe the amount of sentinel hostile planets reduced for players who played through it with a higher community percentage complete? If so tho that would actually make some of the sentinel milestones harder.
I don't think HG considers their players too dumb to make that jump in logic tbh
Its a fairly simple conclusion from what we've been told
