It's fantastic so far, and making me want to explore biomes that I usually ignore (ice worlds looking especially at you)
I'm so glad you can tell they're going to start adding boss encounters. (capital ships, walkers, many mouths & brood mother)
I think they struggled adding smaller enemies with unique a.i so they'd rather add large encounters that get progressively harder/require better gear
Wouldn't be surprised if we have enemies galore by the end of the world update series
The boss encounters may also be feature code that they brought over from Light No Fire

Part 2 will 100% have more boss fights and I'm all for it

I hear planets are being changed to different ones. Anyone who had mineral extractors/gas extractors, what happened to them? Do they yield different resources or have they just been deleted? I'm talking about extractors on worlds that got changed in the update

Please. Yes. Star system where everything wants to kill you. Give them their own progression system as well. Big bosses roaming planets ID BE IN LOVE
If they keep adding stuff like they did in this update, the player base will skyrocket.
The main reason this game has a small community is definitely due to lack of action. Luckily Sean said it himself they are now aiming to bring lots of action to planets. This will be super healthy considering LNF looks to be more action packed than NMS. For now....
They have to balance it though, some of us still prefer to just walk around and scan
May have been why they added relaxed mode then. Perhaps that was a sign they wanted to add more action into the game. Or turn down enemy frequency in the settings.
If they gave us a separate mode that turns the game into more of an RPG with bosses and stuff I'd cry
I think that'll happen eventually. They've said LNF has the depth of an RPG.

There is also an empty slot if you go to "Discoveries and Guide" for the purple chromatic metals, there are slots for the normal and activated next to the other metals

I think until a new Switch console releases we won't get large scale landmarks like that. HG is pushing for progression through updates across all platforms
Maybe a special planet in the expedition? Perhaps the purple stuff will be used for that and not part 2?
Probably generate like regular planets but the "rock" assets are shaped like pillars, stones, etc.

The color palette is softer and terrain generation is more refined.

Visited about 50 or 60 planets tonight. 4 contained new stuff. Hopefully part 2 brings the beef.
Unless the goal to enhance exploration was to just make the cool stuff we could find easily pre 5.0. Harder to find.

Jealous. I went to probably 90% tropical, verdant, overgrown or flourishing planets. 10% other kinds. My gf was next to me exploring for the last 3 hours. Didn't see anything new other than one of the new bugs and the water and clouds of course. Maybe our save files are broke or something.
The non lush planets got the most changes funny enough
2 things I noticed about the lush planets. 3 out of 4 all had the same kind of tree. And glowing grass is pretty rare now.

There was a new scene file related to the galaxy map too but I haven't been able to check it out yet. It's in the place of all the E3 / VR Demo planet files

There's two versions of the in game Worlds - Part 1 Patch notes. Not sure if HG's on schedule for Part II dropping in summer, if the final version of these doesnt mention Part II by name, but the older one does.
Also interesting that it might've originally been the 4.8 update.

Looks like HG opted to combine 6 wing types with 6 tip types for 36 combinations
Instead of pairing them with sails, that would give 18 combinations
Much less frustrating to look for IMO
I guess they didn't want to separate the tips into dedicated slot because scrapping interaction dialogue has limit of 3 entries
Btw, the Iron Giant's texture is a rusty version of the freighter texture, or a lighter version of the crashed freighter texture

Weird, defeating a Walker gave me coordinates to a Sentinel Pillar on another planet. Does this mean the planet I fought them on will still have them? Its the most beautiful world I've ever found, but they are hostile on it.

Hi fellow explorers. Is there a new table of biome probability weights available, like when prime planets were introduced with the Origin update? I read there is at least one new Ruin biome, and I wonder if waterplanets were now unlocked with the new landing tech. Just being curious 🙂
The Ruin biome is not in the actual game yet, it's very much WIP
As for data in general - because of HG changing game files format / structure we can't read game files right now
We need to wait for mod tools to be reworked for these changes, gonna take a couple days
hopefully it doesn't turn out to be like the "legacy" exotic worlds where there are like 4 different models across the whole surface with nothing really interesting to do on them

that'd be nice visually at least. though so are the mushroom exotics. nice that they let the exotic props get mixed into other worlds but finding a pure exotic planet now is kinda boring lol

Can definitely confirm now that it's a legacy save issue. If you want to experience full variety of Worlds Part 1 you currently have to start a new save. Spread the message as I don't want that some folks get a wrong impression of the awesome job @hellogames did here! #NoMansSky

I've spotted a few variations of the poison flowers but I haven't had much chance to play

The garden flowers seem to be mostly recolours though I'm not too sure

Why did they leave so many things in the game? Usually it’s only a few things but this time it’s like 8 whole biomes

Part of me isn't all that keen on how the sub biome templates seem to work, with them spawning mostly the same stuff

Though I think I have to remember that before now, it was always basically one asset set per planet type
So it's not like they're any different ig
There was always more than 1 asset type wdym
so my game bugged out (no mods/vanilla) and I couldn't see the creatures in the discovery tab. They'd show for like one second and then vanish and the list would appear empty (like what you get on dead planets). I screenshotted it the second it appeared and noticed something weird
It's obviously a bug, but I wonder if it's related to any of the stuff that was data mined
I don't recall seeing creatures with names that start without a first letter by itself, and also "AnyTime"
I mean like, the proc gen asset was always just one or two types of the same thing
I reloaded the save and the issue fixed itself, but "Longinus Palmi" was now missing from the list and replaced with a random underground creature
Like on poison planets it was always mushrooms that looked basically the same etc
There mushroom planets with sunflowers I’ve seen some with no mushrooms but weird alien trees and egg flora on the ground and one with no mushrooms but with weird vines
I'm talking about how it used to be
'Longinus Palmi' is the default creature name that's stored in the ui file, I believe. Same deal with the icon next to it, and probably the AnyTime. What appears to have happened is that the game failed to load in any creature data for that slot
I was just thinking out loud about how some of the new sub biomes feel similar each time you find them

But then I realised it was like that for literally every planet before so
hey there so i just got three choices in the game after i met atlas and told him 16 like 3 times or 4, i got 3 choices to make and i choose to seek the final interface, i dont want to know a lot but the outcome will make my game reset? like, start from zero
Well atleast we got more pretty things to look at
the choice you made wasnt significant, it would only change your tracked mission. seeking the final interface will only cause you to teleport to a new galaxy and damage your starship
oh, so thats why im seeing new glyphs when i warp
once you get to 16 warps i believe youll see the final interface
you can teleport back to euclid through any teleporter afterwards
well thats a lot of warps haha, seems like ill have to make a lot of fuel
believe it also damages your exosuit gear
Before NEXT planets could have a small, medium or high level of flora or fauna. So it massively boosted variety. Like you’d have a toxic planet but it would be all but completely rocky but with heaps of animals. It made it feel way more organic rather than every biome being 100% full of flora and fauna

no just like damage similar to the start of the game where the thruster and launch system were damaged

id recommend packing any technology modules into your inventory before the final warp

Some planets at night are really dark I noticed and I saw one that’s really pink
I have also noticed that there's several different smaller flora that can spawn or not spawn in each sub biome
Like I also think those tentacle trees weren't in the last similar type of radioactive biome I was in

The glowy ones don't spawn on all of that type, I don't think

I've also just seen that the smaller shrubs on the garden worlds are a bit different between planets
You know I did find a toxic planet with somewhat normal looking trees but not exactly

But they were definitely new
Yeah some of the new toxic biomes are a bit more lush which is cool
I think my sunflowers were different to other ones I've seen too
Also scalding planets have gotten love
I saw a bunch of new assets on them
And frozen planets can have different types of trees now like those frozen over trees
I call them popsicle trees

Tbh I think the only biomes I'd like a bit more procedural variation on are the new lush ones

Most new sub biomes seem to have a wide enough spawn table of stuff

because the legacy save theory means either:
legacy saves see different planets than new saves

I saw this earlier. Seems more likely to be a platform issue. I’ve seen the corncob trees everywhere myself as well on PS5. Going to try some coordinates later and if they show up differently I’ll submit a bug report as well

It’s possible the update is bugged on PS5. But it’s not totally verified yet. People are still testing and submitting bug reports.
On lush planets trees are all the same almost out of every like lush forest planet besides 2 they have had the same trees for me out of like 20 planets

if they're new then i imagine they're different somehow. there is a freecam feature at the moment but I think there's a boundary sphere limiting the distance of it from where your character is. Maybe this extends that to base building limits or something

I don't think so I think NMS needs a bit more sharper terrain. I'm kind of hoping since we have old style stations in abandoned systems imagine if they went the extra mile and did pre-NEXT style planets within these systems as well? A glitch in the simulation a fragment in time. It'd fit with the lore and be really awesome plus with Korvax prime being constantly mentioned with the Void Mother it'd be cool to see this kind of stuff come back to the game.

Now that we've got the MBIN compiler, should be able to just add them to METADATA/SIMULATION/SOLARSYSTEM/BIOMES/BIOMEFILENAMES.MBIN (just need to make sure that the BiomeSubType line refers to a valid ID that isn't already used in the biome type.

I just want planets to actually feel more alive. Like animal wise its fine but actually plants and trees it still fees idk barren and kinda desolate and once you walk on a planet for 4 minutes you have seen the full things since there is no rivers or anything besides what you see when you land
the floaty island collisions are also kinda off and the scale seems odd. Like the surface and textures are way too "zoomed in" in comparison to normal ground textures

@gray leaf so I think the reason my game looked bad was because it didn't default to DLSS or DLAA (it defaulted to the AMD one despite me having an nvidia card). I'm still doing testing, but I did have a question; is there even a difference between DLSS and DLAA? Left is DLSS, right is DLAA:
yes. DLAA afaik doesn't dynamically scale resolution
the only difference is notice is that some stuff in the background is a little clearer on DLAA
also I'm running at 1440p with 100% resolution; I don't need to do any upscaling with my hardware

What kind of reward are you supposed to get for fighting the insect brood? I killed the boss and it didn't drop anything

If I understand the game files correctly, there's 25% chance for each brood mother kill to trigger that reward

From the looks of the trailer looked like really good animations. Makes me more excited for it
The new floating island biome is made in an interesting way. They made most of the islands an empty texture with no collision to save gpu resources when flying through and scattered some of them that have waterfalls going down of them that are fully modeled and you can land on them.

AntelopeGlow causes a crash when the game tries to spawn it, but from what I can tell looking at it's files it looks to be the same as the normal antelope with less procedural parts and different materials
