The shoulder pads and the "claw" was in the game from day 1 of echoes update. There is also some other parts that players dont have available as cosmetics. Broken armor and body elements for example. Imo video is overspeculation atm. But maybe we will get some of those unlocked in apperance modifier in the future when autophages upgrade them self enough and discard old shells.

I always had a feeling the staffs (staves?) were like a test for ship building. Similar sort of system of finding parts throughout the universe, being limited to a specific few, having to find the right terminal to get the color you want etc..

The staffs also gave me the idea that it doens't have to be all or nothing with ship customization, like maybe just have a few ship types be customizable, not every single one in the game, so it doesn't completely get rid of ship hunting.

Mark of denier constantly gives you 600 nanites and if you do both that and the recurring atlas path mission which also takes like a couple mins you get 1200 nanites by just normally exploring planets

It's bugged.
You should only be able to do one but you can deny and accept the Atlas and get both items and both missions in the log, but only one of the tabs shows up unless you use your mouse wheel to scroll to the other Atlas Eternal tab.

Once you have the denier path selected, then the thing works... and your only option is to just show it and nothing happens.
If you have the other Atlas Path tab selected, then you'll have the option to show off your wonders and get 600 nanites.

It's bugged, therefore confusing, and to make it even more confusing.. I dunno why HG just added a single extra step to the Atlas Path instead of something more substantial.

Short answer is what Pejot mentioned, long answer is Atlas is a super (or maybe a hyper) computer with the sole purpose of simulating life. Ever since it was built/created the scientists who made it had observed how it creates virtual universes and galaxies, and how he generates and distributes life within that virtual environment. He has run this simulation billions of times in its lifetime, but due to some defect it was not the best product so the team of scientists decided to shut it off. The main scientist who actually created the Atlas did not shut it down but left him alone. Somehow though, due to some weird reason Atlas gained sentience, in a sense that he became self aware and he also became aware that he was dying (it has been several years since the humans left, and yes the creators were humans). He has 16 minutes left. So, to meet his maker one last time to ask many questions, but most importantly why they left him alone, he created a new form of life based on the memories of his maker’s image: the Anomaly (player character).

There is a much deeper lore that cannot fit into either a single discord message or several hundreds of messages. Internet (NMS wiki) and information on the ARG is the best way to read up on the lore.

They are not chosen to become something. They are a kind of special life form that Atlas created to evoke its memory of the creator (and find a solution to its death).

About memory erasure there are two cases in which the game mentions it directly: 1. Reset simulation and reborn in a new universe. (but the player character got the Remembrance thing so they can keep all the memories) 2. the Creator's reincarnation as a traveller in the Boundary Failure texts, which is likely Telamon's prediction of one the possible futures, as Laylaps mentioned that all traveller shall merge into one and become the Creator as a whole.

the Space Anomaly was made by Nada (a non convergent Korvax), and Polo (a Gek). Nada and Polo are primary targets of the Sentinels which forced them to be on the run and build the Space Anomaly to live in away from the Sentinels.

Nada and Polo: They first met in another dimension according to crashed freighter logs. They were travelling to the center of their galaxy while being chased by Sentinels. At the end of the log, Polo tells Nada that they will meet again in another universe, Polo then was killed by Sentinels. In that dimension, the Sentinels killed ALL life in less than an hour. It is unknown how Nada and Polo came aboard the Space Anomaly. It is also unknown if the Nada you see in game is the same one that was with Polo when they died in the other dimension.

People make guesses that it could mean planetary orbiting but I don't think so - it looks VERY hard to implement in game IMO. I think it will be overhaul of the whole game. I mean for me it looks like NMS is "unequal" now. Recent updates have focused very heavily on specific aspects of the game while neglecting the basics. It's obvious for me that there will come a time when the creators will "improve" the quality of the remaining elements of the game. Refreshing the stations is just one thing, but what we find on the planets is, in my opinion, at least several levels lower in terms of quality compared to the content from recent months.
