Seems like station overhaul is finally happening. Yay

sour fossil
#

Which makes me curious what HG is planning

#

Fuck yeah it is

#

Wonder if outlaw and abandoned stations will be affected as well

mental socket
#

Well Sean did say at TGA next year's gonna be real big for NMS.

#

heckie heck

#

The hype is real. Now split across two titles

#

How can one person contain this level of hype

#

also we finally seem to get a full rear view camera for ships!

#

180degree

sour fossil
#

Personally Im not hyped for LNF right now

#

I just hope HG takes all the data / feedback they have fron NMS

#

And use it to design the LNF properly

#

Like they got multiplayer compliance from the start

mental socket
# sour fossil Personally Im not hyped for LNF right now

I couldn't be less hyped. The title is literally something I've fantasized about for years and even dreamed of making one day. Then those bastards at HG go and make an unrealistic game idea/scope into reality again 😅@sour fossil

#

HG is the studio that makes all those childlike unrealistic game ideas into reality.

mental socket
sour fossil
#

Well, only one way to learn for sure

#

But lets get back on topic of NMS for now

mental socket
#

Update when.

sour fossil
#

There's a good chance it will land today

#

Source: Im at work with no access to my PC

#

And because universe is a [[censored]], that is why it will drop 😄

mental socket
#

Oh I'm also in the countryside visiting relatives. The internet here is crap. Every time I'm here, a big update drops xD

#

so yes. Stars are aligned for the update for sure

#

Oh wait.... but the trailer said Journey continues 2024

sour fossil
#

Oh yeah I was talking about expedition redux

#

3 expeds, 2 weeks each for end of the year

eternal radish
#

The graphics look better too. What the hell???

mental socket
#

yup yup

#

Can we open the hype channel already?

The new stations interior has the portal at rear centre now

#

There is also another floor on the left

Every vendor is facing the teleporter /station core.

livid zinc
#

Why such a big file for redux though? Surely files already there

#

HG are probably weary of data mining after station leaks in past

analog breach
#

There are also bug fixes

#

Upgraded the Havok implementation to 2023.

#

New language txt support

#

Optimizations

#

Etc

unborn bough
#

This will change some things.

#

Serious change!

#

The new stations, it can't simply be a new station change, right?

analog breach
#

There was some crossed flags icon on the vendor on the right sooooo. WIPEOUT RACES!

unborn bough
#
  1. Looks like a door, maybe a back room? Also the ship customiser is shifted there.
  2. Ship technology vendor.
  3. Station core.
  4. Exosuit technology vendor.
  5. Under the stairs at the bottom floor is where the teleporter is located.
#

There's more to it, I can see someone sitting under an arch at the bottom, there's some type of a room or kiosk at the left side of the station...

sour fossil
#

A bar

#

Serving gek burgers and tritium cola

unborn bough
#

lol

#

And comparing the size of the new ship with the one at the left, it feels like the new ship is big.

#

This could be a trick of perspective though.

dire drum
#

Oh boy, another thing to keep me going through the winter

sour fossil
#

There is some writing on the far right

unborn bough
#

Yeah.

sour fossil
#

In the galactic alphabet

#

This the best quality we got?

unborn bough
#

With that triangle symbol.

#

I couldn't make it out. This is on phone, I'll check on PC.

sour fossil
#

Yeah I'm on mobile as well

dire drum
#

I think the new ship is a type of pirate fighter

#

Or potentially a racing ship

unborn bough
#

Na! It's inside the new space station.

dire drum
#

Yes

unborn bough
#

Looks like a fast ship though.

dire drum
#

Which looks cool

unborn bough
#

Yeah

sour fossil
#

Please don't be an expedition reward

unborn bough
#

lol

dire drum
#

Looks like we might be getting new starship parts, because looking at what seems to be a fighter to the left, it seems to have a different side engine

unborn bough
#

It's a shielded engine.

#

Box

dire drum
#

Ah

unborn bough
#

Hmm!

sour fossil
#

Though

dire drum
#

I’m not too familiar with all the starship parts

sour fossil
#

It looks more bulky

unborn bough
#

Though... yeah!

sour fossil
#

Compared to what we have now

#

Wide boi

dire drum
#

It seems to have a different intake sorta thing

unborn bough
#

I have not seen the front of that engine design in game

#

It seems different now that I'm focused on

dire drum
#

Wait so I might be right about something?

#

Sweet

unborn bough
#

These are the fighter parts.

#

Box thrusters don't look like the one in that image.

dire drum
#

And also it can’t be one of the side thrusters either, because those all look circular

sour fossil
#

The red ship looks like it could be a refresh of Viper nose and Heavy wings

#

Can't make out the engine

<:NmsAtlas:972222451801010207> **Artemis Path Missions**

The main storyline The Artemis Path is composed of these missions:

  1. Awakenings
  2. Alone Amidst the Stars
  3. Ghosts in the Machine (requires progression in Expanding the Base, a secondary quest)
  4. A Leap in the Dark
  5. The First Traveller
  6. Patterns in Time
  7. 16 / 16
  8. The Purge - 16 warps in any direction. It does not require travelling to the core.
  9. New Beginnings - Like the Space Anomaly mission, this will forever remain in your Log tab (even after this quest's completion).

Info Do not reuse portals found via the storyline to prevent bugs.

❓ For in-depth questions about these missions, ask in #nms-spoilers, or in #nms-questions with spoiler tags -- Info run !SpoilerTag in #bot-spam for help.

The symbols at the nose of the ship look like galactic language!

dire drum

Because as far as we know, that new ship could just be a bigger combat ship

#

We might finally get larger ships

dire drum

Because compared to that fighter on the left, the new ship is massive

# livid zinc I prefer to call them portals. I think of teleporters as the upright ones you b...

Preference is okay but it's not advisable because there is a distinct difference between a portal and a teleporter. Personal teleporter, short range teleporter, and station teleporter are exactly that "teleporters". We don't input glyphs. Portals are the buildings we have to enter glyphs are can only appear on planet surface.
It has always been a part of our helping routine to curb misinformation as much as possible.

Hi question I heard that if you finished the main storyline you get to go to a different galaxy and it destroys some of your stuff. Does it do it automatically when you finish it the quest line?

sour fossil
#

If you choose to reset the simulation at the end of Artemis path, you will be presented with 4 options of new galaxy to go to

#

After you spawn in again, the technology modules on your ship / MT (not sure about exosuit) will be damaged

#

So either stack up on resources to fix stuff or repair kits

#

Or get a cheap "burner" ship + MT combo to swap to just before finishing the story

I thought they stopped parts getting damaged via black holes?

Or is leaving the galaxy a different event?

# glad palm No idea, makes no sense to me if it is inside atlas simulation

Actually- If the Glass is the Atlas's long term memory while the multiverse is the RAM or a closed off virtual machine-type thing, being in the Glass might let you directly overwrite Atlas's programming to either transmit yourself out of the physical machine or do something to avoid destruction which Atlas might not be allowed to do by its programming?

ember heart

dusky kernel

the purge is a one-time thing. I went through the portal, wait, viewed the galaxies, reloaded and moved to the next to redo the purge

Oh right you can do it a bunch of times

#

in different galaxies

dusky kernel
#

So calypso's relentless to me, from Euclid, right?

ember heart
#

Yeah

dusky kernel
#

I went to Hilbert to check, and it was ruthless instead. the descriptors are random and not tied to the galaxies in question at all

ember heart
#

My bad

dusky kernel
#

my assumption (thinking that the subtype names were consistent) was that if I went through every galaxy in the purge, I could tell which ones were imperfect, which ones rebuilt, etc.

#

didn't work out.

#

so I tried another thing that popped up in my head, which was to get to Odyalutai, the 256th, from the purge in Iousongola. I selected norm, aaaaand. Euclid. They thought of that too

#

so I guess if a galaxy type (like lush) has enough galaxies of other types before it, doing the purge in all of them would surely yield all 4 descriptors for the same galaxy at one point

<:NmsAtlas:972222451801010207> **Artemis Path Missions**

The main storyline The Artemis Path is composed of these missions:

  1. Awakenings
  2. Alone Amidst the Stars
  3. Ghosts in the Machine (requires progression in Expanding the Base, a secondary quest)
  4. A Leap in the Dark
  5. The First Traveller
  6. Patterns in Time
  7. 16 / 16
  8. The Purge - 16 warps in any direction. It does not require travelling to the core.
  9. New Beginnings - Like the Space Anomaly mission, this will forever remain in your Log tab (even after this quest's completion).

Info Do not reuse portals found via the storyline to prevent bugs.

The purge

long barn

Purge is the final mission

#

Each warp gives you one of the 16 glyphs for portal travel

#

Once you've got all 16 then you get the choice, reset the ATLAS or don't (choice is irrelevant really, both are the same result) and then you get to choose a star.

I suggest you equip a throw away Multitool and a throw away ship as well as store as many exo mods as you can before your 16th warp

celest light

I only have 2 ships lmao I'll keep my Sentinel ship

A leap in the dark is the 4th mission of the Artemis path. At the end of the 8th mission you have the choice to do a reset, which technically just brings you to another galaxy, with a set 4 of galaxies to choose from. You can still return to the Euklid galaxy via gates, so there is no need to worry (this was different in early versions of NMS). Once you are at the final portal of the Artemis path, I'd recommend to uninstall all tech you do not want to repair (switching to a trash tool and trash ship helps in the process).

I can't tell from experience, because I only started playing NMS three months ago. But I read that earlier, you could not travel back to previously visited galaxies without tricks and quirks. Others could explain better for sure how it was. I am just glad you can hop galaxies at will now 🙂

#

Yeah, once you were in another galaxy you were pretty much stranded (unless you joined someone in another galaxy iirc and built a base computer to teleport to)

Also I do remember that there was a time where glyph portals had interference so you could portal to wherever but you could not build nor summon your freighter nor could you warp out of the system. You also couldn't save the stations teleport either so you basically used a glyph to essentially visit a system before heading back through the portal to your normal system

Wouldn't be surprised if it was a unique though

how do I trust that the game runs fine every time I see an anomalous planet or another traveller knowing damn well that the entire game is different universes failing and bleeding into each other

I find it hilarious that the Gek are basically Cardassians turned into Ferengi. In a way, the anarchist in me thinks they had it coming.

Nah

I feel more like a big worm and I still wonder why that group of vy'keen wanted to be eaten by one

Found my first abandoned station after getting curious looked them up on the wiki. Kind of clever this is basically an easter egg of how the stations used to be (before a the amazing updates/ release version) is it this way with all infected or abandoned buildings?

can't post the pics for some reason 😦

It was on the boxes

I can't find that but I'm intrigued

Scratch that, I've found it

It's a unicorn

Scotlands national animal is a unicorn

The anomaly must be made in Scotland

Its facing towards balcony near construct

Unicorn and construct both have 4 legs.

Is construct the unicorn? He is kinda unique

long barn

Construct could be Scottish

?? Do you really not recognise the reference lol

It's a Blade Runner reference

No. because last time i watched bladerunner 20 y ago 😂

Would be cool if there was more stuff like this hidden somewhere.

The 16 minutes will have finally passed

Begin a new simulation

the sheer amount of panic from people if they woke up to nms being 15 // 15 // 15 one day lol

analog breach

Going from 16 to 15 still took some time. If it would be tommorow thats still 15 x 7 years

105 years so no need to panic

I could still see that being "one day" with people trying to deduce how long the other seconds would be

guys tl;dr what's the difference between resetting the simulation or refusing the atlas, and which one should I do?

dusky kernel

besides that refusing keeps you in euclid

jovial holly

Does doing the Atlas Path no longer allow you to choose a new system to go to?

dusky kernel

unless you somehow meant the purge, and galaxies, then no

jovial holly
dusky kernel

I don't think many people know that if you do the purge in a different galaxy, you get other ones as your choices

vale plank

Hey so I have done most of the Artemis path afaik and I get to pic a new galaxy is there a best option???

dusky kernel

there is no objective best, that's up to you

Alright

Green it is

3rd new galaxy lol

dusky kernel

I felt so cheated when the green galaxy was really orange

I've alr been to the centre of the first galaxy

And gone to the second

dusky kernel

oh so you touched hilbert ok

vale plank

Yeah

And then got a little annoyed

#

Cuz everything broke

#

So now I have made sure what gets broken is now worthless stuff

dusky kernel

not to be the bearer of bad news, but that's gonna happen again

#

good, you prepared for it

vale plank
#

does it only happen once

#

Oh

dusky kernel

it happens for every galaxy you jump to if you don't nab one from someone's anomaly base

vale plank

Well I just got my question anwered

#

Ahh

uncut dagger
#

I know I've already spoiled a good portion of the story for myself (I just like to system hop, explore planets that seem interesting, and building bases while going in the general direction of the core lol) but I was just caught off guard by running into a terminal in a manufactory building that talked about have a converstion with the CREATOR and if they had similiar conversations from resets. Just makes me giddy for some reason running into stuff like that.

vale plank

hey im wondering how do i know if i have finished the main stroy line cuz idk what to do i am up to new begginings is that the end

sour fossil
#

New Beginnings in mission log means you are done with the Artemis Path

#

You can also check if you can install the Rememberance tech in exosuit

vale plank

i can indeed

i just dont know how to get the heart of the sun

sour fossil

Atlas Path

vale plank

what do i get when i get the hear of the sun??

#

anything special

sour fossil

HotS is an item you craft at the end of Atlas Path

vale plank
#

alright

long barn
#

It adds an extra pip of health when you install it

#

Also when you do thr atlas path you'll get the star seed which if built next to the heart of thr sun will gain an adjacency bonus

vale plank

oh alright

#

thank you

torn urchin

Hey so is there a browser-based site where I can enter two star systems and know exactly how many jumps and ly's between them?

#

It's kind of annoying to have mission objectives systems away, and only be able to see like 3 stops on the path.

torn urchin
#

Basically, I am trying to get to the system for the living ship, without using glyphs, and I am about 50k LY away.

dusky kernel
#

not that I know of, they really should improve that galactic map

dire drum
#

I have discovered an interesting piece of lore, which I dragged out of the smoldering remains of someone’s shitty parking job. I’m assuming it’s from either an Anomaly or a Traveler, because it talks about the family structures of a race that doesn’t belong to the three main species. Apparently the Gek do actually know who their parents are, and the Vykeen form small family groups, which presumably the Anomalies or Travelers do

rustic haven
torn urchin
#

Right, I just figured someone would have used the raw data and google maps or equivalent, by now. All good, I just visited stations until I met enough Travellers.

uncut harness
long barn
#

So the anomaly is a unique multiversal hub outside of thr Atlas' influence if I'm not mistaken

Sentinel ships are essentially crashed drones we've ripped a part out of to install a chair but it's still very much a sentinel droid albeit manually piloted

We non chalantly fly said droid into the anomaly without pause. Is this? Is this a bad move? It won't lead to any major issues later on with the Atlas right?

sour fossil
#

My understanding is that Hyaline Brain has the connection to Atlas, while Harmonic Brain does not

#

The powers that inhabit the monolith purge this connection, so no interference from Atlas is present

long barn
#

Or perhaps so we think 🤔

sour fossil
#

Are you suggesting that the last chapter of the Autophage story line will have a battle over the Space Anomaly?

long barn
#

It's a possibility. What if The Void Mother uses the Multiversal anomaly to get an edge over the Atlas? And what if we didn't even notice and instead just carried on farming QS I mean we did offer Nada some atlantideum

sour fossil
#

I think Nada is just curious of it

#

They believed to be the only entity who left the Convergence

#

Now a whole society spawns across the universe

long barn
#

But so has the Void mother or at least its emerged or perhaps re emerged

south holly
# long barn It's a possibility. What if The Void Mother uses the Multiversal anomaly to get ...

The NMS wiki entry on the Space Anomaly says it appears more broken down with every update. So perhaps the influence you're talking about is already occurring?

Or, if it is outside spacetime, is it getting affected by the same black hole dooming the Atlas. We don't see the decay happening in real time because we only interact with it in-simulation-spacetime. But every game update could line up with passage of extra-simulation-spacetime, reflecting damage the Space Anomaly takes from the black hole. But since the 12 Iterations live there, they repair it so it's not as bad as the Atlas which has no recourse to repair its physicality.

sour fossil
#

... And in it's valiant effort, the Atlas calls for a contingency procedure. A subroutine created to gather information from the existing parts of the database in order to recreate the missing bits. To birth a new star in the fading universe...

FYI this next one could be the 85 batch

long barn

Oo they look good, always nice to get decals and those ice statues I'm really fond of

sour fossil

Because batches do not have to go in incremental order of one

As an example, the game files list crane, silo and tent in batch 81

#

And the 4 ice statues are in batch 83

There is no batch 82 to be found

The crane is stunning, never knew how much I wanted it until I had it

The ice statues are awesome
