I can edit and could add it to my college portfolio
I already have some videos too š
I'll consider it
sounds good just lmk
I might produce some content on my own if I fall further in love with the game again too!
gotta go home and play this new update..
Look for red or orange antennae
That's where you're likely to find autophages
Just remember to interact with said antennae or you can't see them
Unless of course you have an echo amplifier
Which I don't know how to get outside of Singularity
the twitch streams ive been watching are also confused about that
I appreciate the tip-off though!
I think someone said something about the new freighters dropping them?
Only If you could place a sword or some kind of blade on the tip š¤
go full game of thrones HG. I want a korvax head on my spear
see I would have said them or the gek, but I didnt want to be too grotesque
because I love the korvax
but seeing as you just said that
GEK HEAD ON A SPEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
also I forgot the sentinels on a spear is an option too...
all of them except for laylaps of course
Laylaps rubs me the wrong way
better to snuff it out before it gets bad I suppose
the writer of the laylaps storyline reading this chat:

question, i did 'the purge' quest and i refused atlas's offer. did the story still get completed?
I dont Know how to mark spoilers, If you are scared to find smth out, you better dont continue to read this! Im left with the last Mission where you have to go to the centre but it just throws me somewhere and i cant get the quest done tf?
i assume that something or someone has stabilized Atlas enough for Autophage to return
Lore?
did u speak to the atlas?
and what does the quest objective in the log say?
Die sƤuberung its german I asume it means the purge
I spoke to it and the 16 stuff came
then I had to visit the centre but i just get thrown at the most far away point I ever been
So is the quest done? cause I want to do the new content and you need to have the main quest done
yep that's it. enjoy the galaxy.
u might have understood more if u looked at the text
I understood it but I thought i did smth wrong cause the quest doesnt dissapear
but still if thats it, my brain is fried
So I think the update has fully corrupted my current save, I went to go get the crashed ship for the Autophages and now my save wont even load properly.
Om man.
living ships are mostly normal ships but behave like living ships
mine is kinda messed up too
So Iām trying to speedrun the Artemis mission and a trace of metal. Right now in the Artemis mission Iām back at my ship which crashed after I went to the atlas
Halfway
Noice.
has anyone been able to save edit the new expedition rewards yet? what is the construct egg?
Nvm it's just not revealing the type of camp with the terminal
How do i trade in my void motes
Someone probably arlead did this, but I got tired of just seeing all that binary during the Echoes quest where I present atlantandium (sp), so I just did a basic google translate and input all the numbers. It came out as ||"she lives"||
It says 3 different things, I believe.
Oh cool! Mind telling me what the other 2 are? š
Mother home was one of them.
She lives. Mother home. And I didn't translate the other one. I got excited and forgot. Lol
Nice! I'm pretty excited about this story. I really hope somehow the void mother is able to fix the atlas so it doesn't crash š¦
HOW DID WE NOT NOTICE THIS? I THINK THEY LEAKED THE ROBOT RACE 1 MONTH EARLY https://youtu.be/ifQ0xDaBr8g?si=SzEnX2cqNLQXQRWr
Or am I just dumb
Cause that to me, looks like the robot race.
That's just the head and armour we got from last expedition
So i got a settlement how do i start the "trace of metal" quest
My god i absolutely hate patterns in time
i know the waking titan ARG is old as heck now but. after reading through it....
where on earth is Nada's twitter account
holy shit this game is deep lmao
i hate the main story ngl
ive completed it like 7 times and i still rush through it to get it done lol
Im jist trying to get trace of metal to start so i can do the new stuff xD
I love the ARG so much
Iāve studied it a lot, mainly when it was happening
Itās a crucial yet overlooked part of the lore
Has anyone datamined the update for new multi tool and tech stats yet
Almost at the End. 16/16
How do you get more void motes? It says it's from doing missions for the new race and I have done like 30 or more and still only have 122 of them... I haven't gotten any...
Mt standing with them is at 8/9...
Are you getting the quest then immediately completing them, cause you have to wait a second for it to register otherwise you abandon it
Can I do the atlas path after completing new beginnings or do I have to do atlas path before it? Also how long does it take?
How long do you need to wait?..
so, there's a new ship somewhere in this new update? If so, how does one go about getting it?
There isnt a new ship just a new ship to fight, you have to warp to a tier 3 combat or pirate system to find one and it's a random chance freighter battle
Do you have to finish the purge?
So what do i do past paterns of time
Cause im seein stuff on if artemis is alive and they dead
Basically the game is done
Do whatever
Any side missions definitely go for
But afterwards it's usually how rich, how powerful, or how good you can be in the universe of no man's sky.
Plenty of missions to do. The Outlaws questline, Trace of Metal questline and the new long story for the autophages
that was kind of the point , yea
wouldn't say They Who Returned was particularly long?
Well, relatively long compared to outlaws questline
Is there a lore reason why you have to complete A Trace of Metal before the new mission can start?
I can't recall how it's related to autophage.
But how's that related to settlements?
The sentinels attack the settlement since they don't like big civilizations. (lotsa lore stuff you can find about that)
Settlement only happens to be a trigger point for the questline. Not the main place of events
or even the focus of Trace of Metal
i did the quest and i cant construct my staff for some reason, every time i select it at the terminal it just plays the first msg over and over
anyone else encounter this bug?
Should i wipe the system, or leave it be in the atlas section?
I'm aiming to find the purge and the dreams of the deep missions.
I'll wipe it!
Does every autophage syntesis terminal will give same staff parts per system or it changes per terminal?
I think its just the color that changes, and I think its per planet rather than terminal
I still trying to find a good color but keep getting very similar ones, which is why I'm not sure
with the prayers of the machine quest, what does the binary translate to
per terminal is what it seems like to me. Maybe per planet
What happens when you go to the galactic centre after doing the purge quest?
one last ow0
I've done some testing on this, every terminal has different staff pieces and every terminal will roll different stats for each staff head as well, even on the same planet, every terminal is different
And I believe you can only get the returners drape (or whatever it's called) by leaving a autophage terminal and coming back to it, I thought that was neat but I might be wrong
I think it's part of their independence thing, makes sense that every terminal is different for autophages because they are not linked
I don't know but I believe you are correct
Yes, the Head part controls the Class
You can upgrade the staff class like other multitools right?
Nice. Then I'm more worried about color then class personally lol
Itās awesome that more npcs can walk on planets
Gonna grind some more autophage missions later and try to get more staff parts. Finally. My material hoarding has come in handy lol
Not just the class but the stats and slot count as well, each head will have different stats/class/slot at a terminal, and every terminal will roll different stats for each head so none are the same, it's really cool actually, I love it
I love it too. It's so cool how much we can customize our MTs now š„³
So if people find a terminal with good stats they can post it online with co-ordinates and glyphs and others can get the same stats?
If you use the same Head part, yes
How do you get different head parts?
I buy mine from the Terminal at the Camps
Oh yeah, I dont have the currency for that yet
You can do missions from the NPCs at the Terminal to get the Motes you need
"Is that your Voltaic staff or are you just happy to see me?"

Patr...
dont u think they look similar to the dreadnought design?
š
u see where im going?
thats so dope
i think i know the 2nd part of the update
the dreadnought have this still soo maybe those will be pirate stations
OH
think about it what havent nms touched
that was honestly the one thing i wanted to be overhauled
so i think
so much more immersive
next update will be stations and we can get a pirate frigate
space stations is part 4 i think
yee yee
i think ship wrecks in space will be in part 4 too
we have pirate frigates
we cant get the capital ship tho
that exists already
since 2020
Id love the new space stations to be added, buut i think more with the autophages would be cooler
Like maybe freighters that look derelict but are actually autophage freighters
since space is getting a makeover
How do you know
only thing left that hasnt been touched in years
We can already get pirate frigates
From beating pirate freighters the frigates surrender and you can buy them
it fits doesnt it?
look at the style of the dreadnoughts
It does
look at the style of the space stations
no i want the capital ships.
But just assume it won't happen
and they are even new lore in the space stations
i have three frigates tho lol
Ohhh
and they look sorta ready
im almost sure part 4 the next update will be the last update of the year
and the closure to this space combat/pirate/sentinel overhaul arc we started back in 2022
with the sentinel update
i only expect space stations for part 4
well its just that i dont put too much expectations
i see space station maybe new missions in it
and a wild card new cap we can capture
and i expect those space stations to be done now it has been a few months to polish them finishing them
maybe some new robot parts
in the station
for the quests
like a mini outlaw update
Oops.. I sold the thing I need to start the quest.. (spool of wires). Time to find/scrap some ships.
Wiwwww
How to find harmonic camp?
either beat all waves of corrupted sentinels or destroy harmonic resonaters until you get an echo locater
i think you can get an echo locater from blowing up sentinel ships and freighters?
I'm betting at some point we'll be able to use our freighters in combat
If not pilot them, just summon them near a hostile vessel and boom
so I was checking the Twitch rewards, then I found this. Expedition 11 rewards...
Yeah
Wait so is the construct "head" a pet or a replacement to the drone or can I have two drones now
i think it just is a drone
So I have the sentry and the construct head now?
Sick
Plus the minotaur and a pet?
Five troop army
Minotaur as a exo ai+ pet sentry/drone + laylaps
pet since it comes from an egg
Imo its pet like animals and other pets from expeditions
Damn it
laylaps is summoned with unique item. Pets come from eeeeegg
I thought the construct head was a unique item type thing
the skull is an unique base part ig
??
Construct egg is a pet . Construct skull is a base decor
Ok
I don't remember where Terminal Prime is
Imagine. Pc case in shape of
. So your PC would become literal ATLAS making nms simulation š
Anomaly. Beside big portal
Aaaah, thank you
Np.
Would have 16gb ram with a 16 core cpu
And a gpu with 16 in it somewhere ig
16T ssd
Am I gonna die and lose my inventory going this part?
no
Thank you, I thought the game bugged out lol
When exactly do I unlock the autophage as a playable species?
Once you've met them or once you've purchased your very first autophage cosmetic I'd assume
Anyone have a link to photos of all the staff parts? I saw one earlier but forgot to save it š
Nvm I found one!
Iām going through a trace of metal so I can get to that new quest. After that then I just need to free a camp and boom!
The twitch drop jet trail is so cool
Just finished talking to the atlas in 16/16 , what the fuck is going on
It said the atlas was dying then sent me to some random toxic planet after giving my character the most existential crisis ever
It do be like that sometimes
Once you get an atlas pass v3 those back rooms in space stations will sometimes have more lore on that
I have that
I have all the atlas passes plus I have finished the atlas pass
I heard that the game is like in a simulation I think
Yeah try and find some of those server rooms cause they go into more detail
Alr
Also i just started the purge mission, is it true I have to make some big choice at the end
It was kinda surreal how after all these years, the new story gave character development between us and the Atlas.
You shove scary pink stuff at the Atlas and it's like "Omg I'm scared" you're like "lol k" Atlas is like "I'm still a God I'll show you" you're like "Nah."
And the weird thing is, it felt like mid game story content if that makes sence. Like the Artemis stuff is like an introduction or first act. And the new story is where stuff actually picks up but also isn't finished yet.
I'm surprised how much I like how HG introduced the new race too. I didn't expect them to be locked off until you complete the main story and then they'd continue it.
And it's cintextualized so well how they've always been around.
so how do i reset the simulation
Correct you buy atleast 1 head and then you get the race. If you buy arms they are just like any other arms etc
Anyone know if all the new locked jetpack trails are gonna be quicksilver purchasable besides the electric for expedition
They appear to be coming in the next 5 quicksilver tiers
unless HG changes something in a hotfix
Sick, was curious it was a large selection
Unlock it yeah
Ok im Iām a dissonant planet. I donāt Remember how to find a camp
Look for the drill things and they'll give you a map chart you can use to locate a camp. Or fight corrupted sentinels, win all 5 rounds and it'll give you a waypoint to a camp.
I think so.
If you're looking to start the new content, you need to do the main quest, abandoned camp and trace of metal.
I did that. I just got the new quest
Awesome!
āIāll dieā
āAtlantid lives on, you can survive still tooā

So I'm trying to do the staff questline, and to get the last part, I've been sent to salvage a ship, but I arrive at the location and there is no ship. Is this common?
yeah but you can just scrap anyship
you just need ship salvage parts totaling the amount required
Damn, you need a free ship slot for the scrapping part of the staff mission to finish it right? My slots are full. I guess I need to sacrifice a ship?
Am I seeing this right?
yeah or you can get an expensive part from someone else
like 1 indium scap or 1 starship ai valve would definitly do the trick or of course anything lower
i was able to retrieve my old ship after i swapped it, altough it was kind of tricky, i had to teleport to another system, then coming back to the crashed ship, then swap the ship, fly to the space station, and finally coming back to the crashed spot (i put a signal spot)
took me a few attempts to figure it out but it requires some trial and error, if you are on pc you can always back up your save
The storyline was much shorter than I expected
But damn was it cool, ends on a pretty decent cliffhanger for whatever update they do next to continue it
And thrusting atlandium into nearly everything is just so funny of a concept
Yeah it felt like the first episode of a season 2.
Like the Artemis story is like an introduction to the universe of NMS and the autophage is where it starts to pick up if that makes sense.
there's an achievement for comforting the Atlas lol
"aww poor baby I'm sorry for feeding you corrupted data you tried to wipe out"
So is the autophage more or less confirmed to be that race that the boundary failure log talked about? The one race it wiped out?
Yeah this story feels really big for the game
it literally does feel like a second part
wait really
All the work getting the Atlas visuals redone was worth it, the second half was so fucking cool
chills
Wait how long has multi-tool decommissioning been in?
uncovering the juicy binary text
so is there a way i can actually complete the new beginnings quest after i chose not to reset the universe or is it just kinda stuck like that
3 days
Thanks.. glad it's new and not just me being unobservant š
so can i go and reset it if i wanted to will that do anything or just bring me to hilbert
oh also
do i have to do the atlas path for the new robot quest
how do you get it?
you have to have a settlement
re-reading the boundary failure logs really makes me think its talking about the autophages
SCENARIO: Sub-routine āSentinelā [20491] dispatched to intervene in lifeform designates [--------] war. Removal from history / Continuation of [CREATOR] protocols.

very interesting indeed
got me wondering if the 19th log would have some co-relation, it does not
but its still really chilling stuff
- 19TH Encounter
SCENARIO: A Traveller falls from the sky. They are discovered on a distant planet, a signal sending you to find their ship...
ANALYSIS: You don't belong in this world, do you? What are you, reader? From where do you watch us? From where do you judge their works?
I feel it, each time you save... I smell it, each time you seal us within that awful darkness. You might think you are real. You might think your plane is a higher level of reality.
But don't you understand? Don't you see the secret, yet?```
canonically whenever we die, we resurrect as a fresh iteration and our graves are temporary but we do enter the "world of glass" the same as everyone else
the autophages seem to have figured out the same, even in death they come back, not as fresh iterations but posessing a new body
oh I never looked into the Greek mythic side of things, lol its very on the nose than I thought
In European architectural sculpture, an atlas (also known as an atlant, or atlante or atlantid; plural atlantes) is a support sculpted in the form of a man, which may take the place of a column, a pier or a pilaster. The Roman term for such a sculptural support is telamon (plural telamones or telamons)
The boundary failure logs are my favorite parts of the lore
And theyāre so missable
I just drove down to my old house to retrieve my copy of the game after hearing you guys talk about how the loreās been extended
whats very interesting about the boundary failure logs is they secretly updated them to add new entries after the 20th
WHAT
Origins update I think? in the main patch notes near the end it just said added more secrets
AHHHHHHH
This log has always haunted me
āI feel it each time you saveā is a crazy crazy crazy sentence
I keep trying to put my friends on this gameās lore but nobody is interested. I feel like itās secretly one of the best sci fi universes out there right now
But I really do wish hello games would do a comic book on it
One set during the first few minutes of the simulation, before the war between the races and the atlasā degradation
They did one at launch and itās really cool!
Maybe nada and polo as the protagonists
Hey do you guys know anything about a āAsteria the hero travelerā?
Anyone know if it's possible to get the new Atlantid multi tools without doing the new story stuff?
Did we have any info yet about what/if the new multi-tool inherent bonus is?
Doesn't look like it.
ah
Do we know any of the new titles for the Outlaw faction? I'm 9/9 and can't really see anything
You can check titles in apperance modifier. Its usualy writen on them what you need to do to unlock them.
I had a quick look but couldn't see anything at a glance, the whole titles menu is horribly bloated
Saw a few people on Reddit not sure either
Why... This universe?
What's so special about the one all this is set in?
What makes it special out of the infinite that there are?
Null, Nada.
They both came to this one
According to a reddit post, it seems atlantid rifles are mining bonus 20-25 and voltaic staff are 20-25 damage bonus. Take with a grain of salt however as I dont know how accurate this is or where the information was gathered
Source for reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/162og38/updated_mt_statsbonuses/
just reset, he wont talk to me
is this what null meant
also is a glyph combination of 1 6 1 6 1 6 etc special or just the 16 repeated over and over
i just traveled through the center of the galaxy and went to a new galaxy. once on the other side i repaired my ship. gone to the anomaly. left. and now im given this choice after i had already gone to the galactic core. what should i do? i need help and im ok being spoled
the choice is eitehr seek final inerface or explore the galaxy
I got my staff, but, why is my staff so ugly and basic and everyone else's is so beautiful???
Clarify: you actually jumped through the Core, instead of following the quest portal to the Final Interface?
Starter staff
Oh. If you upgrade it, it becomes prettier?
its actually modular! as you do quests you earn can earn void motes and buy different parts to mix and match to make a new staff!
i did it followed the questline. not just of my own volition
You were, technically, supposed to wait for the countdown to finish up.
Can't blame ya. That quest was written before it was possible to skip to the core via Portals.
Nice!!!
i did the artemis stuff. then finished the apolo and null stuff . and it told me to go to the galactic center
so i did
Yeah. I get how you came to that conclusion, but you were ultimately mistaken.
You were supposed to, ultimately, be pointed towards a portal which would take you to the Final Interface.
so should i just do "the purge" now?
In fact, you might still be on that countdown.
Yep.
should i bother with the atlas path at all or just do the purge?
You can do it while the Purge is happening. Optimize your time.
i guess yeah
Why isnāt there a no mans sky Iceberg chart
Jesus Christ how many starships do I have to scrap
One, I learnt the hard way that you should sell the scrap you get from it
I went through like 3 before I realised āoh, donāt sell the lootā
if you want to complete the artemis quest, seek the final interface
The staff color depends on the terminal it's assembled at btw! So some terminals may make the crystal part yellow or purple etc.
I thought I already finished it
Haha surprise
When you're given the choice about Artemis, that's almost half of the quest
Learned that the hard way myself yesterday
Have fun
Ah. Only the crystals or also the staff themself?
I think every part really
Wait there's no colour customisation on it?
seen screenshots of various staff parts with different colors
Nop. Still need to hunt for a specific terminal for the right colors and class.
Class is also dependent on the assembly location. And different combinations get different class per spot
so same part combination will get a different class depending on where you build it
way more challenging to get the perfect natural S-class staff than a multitool
Some terminal might yield S-class for your desired part combination but the colors might be something ugly

PROCDEDURALE!
Who were the Aerons, I can't recall them in lore
Sentinel "race" is called Aerons
The Aerons were what the Sentinels used to be, before the destruction of Korvax Prime they were formless subroutines that were, for some reason, given the physical shells that we know and loathe after the fact
Well we know what for
So what do you guys think about the void mother? Now that we've confirmed that Korvax Prime will return I'm under the impression that there's gonna be some kind of boss fight
yups. As many as you want. If you have the parts
Bless
When I go through the portal of the atlandit quest, will all my stuff break?
no
Any way to get the new outlaw freighters? or are they enemies only?
You can hire their frigates, but the Dreadnought itself is not obtainable
that's... kind of lame. lol
thank you
I've been a pirate ever since hte outlaw content was released, but never had titles or ships or anything else available. So was kind of excited about new pirate content. But seems there is none other than new pirate enemies.
just got my first Atlas? Runic? multitool
and
IT HAS
LITTLE DIPLOES ON IT
PORTAL GLYPHS CAN APPEAR ON THE MULTITOOLS
yeah pirates are in a weird state right now. they've had very little story to explain how they became a serious threat, or where they got all this new tech
It's such a weird design choice for the game devs, because the titles and ships and stuff already exist, in the game
just give the players the options to use them
like the LootGek and RaidingEntity and Dread Captian titles
the aesthetics of the outlaw stations could easily be applied to ships/weapons
instead we're kind of left just looking at NPCs use them like "oh that's kind of cool, wish I had that"
yeah, and you can't fight on the side of pirates in the freighter battles
yep
despite the fact that my standing with the 3 races is between -300 and -500 and my standing with pirates is... 9/9
I can only help traders and kill pirates
makes sense
kind of disappointed by the new story in the quests. didn't really advance what we know about Void Mother at all. And the interaction with Atlas was very much retreading past encounters and prior lore. They basically just introduced the Autophages and that's it, which is cool for those that like them, but they don't fundamentally change any mechanics in the game. Even the staff doesn't unlock new capabilities, it's just a reskin of the multitool.
The most interesting changes were with the pirates, but HG offered no explanation for why pirates suddenly have the most formidable capital ships in the universe
probably just retcon
they always had them
I mean they've been trading in black market parts that are noticably stronger than their legal counterparts
so it makes sense a powerful pirate could pimp out a large freighter with all kinds of illegal tech
they added a pirate faction, and the ranks don't event grant a title? lmaoo
what is the point of this?
anyone know the purpose of pirate ranks?
doesn't seem to unlock any new shop/mission options or titles
Uhhhh help. Trying to scrap a ship but itās invisible.
Tried restarting the game still doesnāt work
Nvm
any ship works for scrapping
So I had the Atlas interaction and was told to talk to Nada. I did that and the two Echoes missions in the Log are now gone. But I did not learn anything about void motes, how to get, etc. Is that your experience also?
Yeah, it basically just ends after that. There is additional lore you can find by giving Atlantideum to monolith sites, but I haven't done those yet
Huh. So how are people modifying their staffs - I see different looking ones shown. Need void motes and the computer on planet surface that's hidden to modify them, right? That computer was revealed once in the missions.
Every camp terminal computer sells different staff parts, and I believe color is determined by the planet or system. And you get motes to buy them by doing missions from the camp inhabitants
Wow the Autophage story was amazing. Just as important as the Artemis story. Wow
Ranks in this game don't really have any function at all. You can be best buddies with a race or have your reputation below -9999 and nothing changes gameplay wise.
Factions in NMS are just a number on a menu currently. I hope they overhaul it where it'll be a big deal in the future.
Negative rep could make some services like vendors have higher prices or locked totaly . It also could give permament wanted lvl. Also sentinels could use more deadly weapons and you could get most wanted lvl that would cause all npc on top of sentinels ships be hostile.
And vice versa good rep would cause better prices, more items to buy, sentinels and npc helping if attacked.
yes I don't know why I'm able to even dock on Vy'keen space stations when my reputation with them is below -700
I know the game tries to be hyper-casual in every aspect, but i really do agree that there should be actual consequences sometimes, especially in normal difficulty upwards. Being the lowest rep for a faction should make them hostile or make space stations unusable. If there's never any stakes, then nothing you do has any value.
Sometimes difficulty should include having to actually think about what youre doing.
The pirate dreadnought and sentinel overhauls are a good step in the right direction for sure
Faction changes that add some real cost/benefit would be pretty sweet. It would make those forged passports worth something, and could give an opportunity to add reward tracks for positive faction rep too
Maybe give unique armor sets, ships, or multi tools, for achieving higher faction rep
technically everything in this gameās lore is solved if you just alt f4
regarding factions, it's interesting that Sean gave this answer just a year before launch of the game: ```Q: Are factions themselves procedural, or will their names be persistent across the entire universe?
Murray: Factions are procedurally generated, because they have to fill such a large universe, but individual factions occupy what will feel like pretty huge chunks of space, so you'll get to know them well as you travel through. Youāll actually be able to get a real sense of personality from them.
Factions will become friends with you if you help them out, maybe by defending them against an attack from a warring faction or a pirate attack. Perhaps if you're attacked and they're around, they'll come and help you in return, or maybe theyāll give you preferential treatment as a trader```
like, they had planned out a lot of the things that we wish factions were. but for some reason they scrapped all that and made "factions" the same as "races"
does overclocking your Personal Refiner make it go faster?
mine's in an overclock slot and i just witnessed it go through activated indium pretty quickly
(my settlement produces, like, a. indium in the hundreds)
interesting observation, im not sure. it makes sense if that's how it works though
actually, hang on, i'll try to properly test this
yeah was just considering doing it myself with a timer
here's the times i got refining 100 Carbon into Condensed Carbon
OVERCLOCKED - ~22.77s
NO OVERCLOCK- ~22.65s
doesn't seem to make a difference
though i DID fumble with the buttons on the overclocked (got 23 seconds instead of 22)
overclocked slots don't seem to work on very many things outside of weapons/shields
engines on ships, and jet packs I guess
but no secondary mods at all
Overclock? We talking mods or somthing else?
supercharged slots. The purple ones
are the pirate dreadnaughts procedural, or is it a static asset?
There is one model of pirate freighter from what i saw
yeah that's what I figured, too bad. procedural placement of weapons and such would have kept the combat encounters a bit fresher
Do I need Artemis' Translator after I finished using it?
So I did the new faction quest up to making the staff and talking to Nada, was that all there was? I donāt see any other new quest stuff.
I know about the motes and stuff of course too.
That's about it.
It feels like it might expand as more content gets added, since the story stops once you went through everything new.
Hey, can the Autophage hoods be worn without the Autophage heads? Can you just have, for example, a Traveller head and wear an Autophage hood?
I expected it to be longer, but the quest was still fun. It kinda felt like The Atlas quest 2.0
It was more or less a tutorial for the new stuff, much like the Voice of Freedom quest which introduces you to pirate space stations and back market economies.
Tried using the hoods on a gek, no go. The gek does have a spawning cowl tho
I hope I can ever give my Traveller a hood š
Or a headpiece similar as Artemis has.
Yeah I was reading it said you can use the stuff with other species but I didnāt figure it out beyond the hands and feet really.
Thankfully have been able to get the Autophage chest without the armor though š
I'd love to wear the clothes but I'd like to stay a Traveller
I hear ya. I really liked that Shroud of Freedom and after the Expedition I was rocking that with a mostly phage body.
Saved the outfit but Iām going full phage right now haha (with a cape of course!)
Wish they had rust and wear options for more clothing! Looks so good
For some reason I never got the shroud of freedom after completing the Voice of Freedom quest
Iām sorry! That sucks š¦
Idk why?
Well you earned it. And also cause I think it was one of the best heads for awhile
kinda looks like Darth Revan haha
can i not use the atlantid monolith if ive already used it as a korvax monolith?
because i did the korvax thing, then the atlantid plinth, but all i could do w the monolith was locate a portal
possibly? since the dialogue changes between the two types. try finding another monolith you haven't used before and confirm if that's what's happening.
maybe someone in #nms-questions has more info. you can try using spoiler tags there altho not needed/required, if no one else gets back with more insight here.
Yep, you either have to use the monolith for korvax or atlantid, just did some testing and you canāt do both
So, has it been determined what a void mote is and how to acquire them? I know it wasn't in the story. They're needed to customize the staff, right?
You get them from running missions from the autophage
which you can get when you have your staff
Is there a hidden staff computer on planet at each of the autophage hidden camps on a second scan?
There's a staff computer at every autophage camp, it looks identical to the one that is at harmonic camps
You shouldn't have to second scan
Only that sometimes if you scan before getting close enough to the camp, it might leave some parts of it hidden and requiring a new scan
True, you have to be near the middle of the camp when you scan, which is easier said than done when you can't see it lol
This is kinda creepy. Was this a bug?
The game never really talked or addressed the floating bodies.
That's just the 3 dominant races visualized there for some random reason
Yeah... Just weird and getting Dead Stranding vibes. LOL
even in early 1.x builds of the game, you actually needed good rep with the races to acquire blueprints, this is still the case technically but you are now made to buy them from the space anomaly by default which defeats the purpose entirely
Kinda feels leftover since theyāve introduced 2 more and havenāt updated it, but I guess the gek/vykeen/Korvax have always been the main ones and The Travelers/The Anomalies and The Autophages are, well, anomalous
Yeah. Travelers aren't a "dominant race" exactly and Atlas isn't even aware of Autophages. They exist against the odds and logic of the sim
You dont recognize the bodies in the water
The fucking what
This game is so much darker and not as happy as I thought šš
Isn't that existence? š š»
š±
So what even is the void mother apparently it's been around for a while but the interceptor expedition was the time I found out that it existed because someone in here was talking about it
its a very long story
essentially its the AI the Korvax made while trying to understand their god, Atlas
here's a general dump if you want to be spoiled as information on it is scattered across missions and logs
Do any fellow pirates know, now that Freighters are destructible, if I destroy one before all of the cargo bays are looted do I still get everything that was in them? Or is it also destroyed?
@glass flare
Pls dont miss this new backpack from Twitch Drop
Thank you for the reminder. I almost forgot!
Its new/old backpack. Its from past expedition
- request dialect help
- ask for Friendship Word
- learned the Vy'keen word for Violence
- just Vy'keen things
- Grah!
Instructions unclear, I headbutted him and I think we're married now?
How much do you guys think our choices for this update will impact our choices for the next update/story beat?
I yelled at the Atlas but in the end comfort them in their pain and was given the title "Atlas Whisperer" but I don't want to be on the Atlas's side so I might have sided with the wrong group.
I mean like it or not the atlas is the reason for your existence
If the Void Mother wins, everything will die for real
We don't know that for sure.
Assuming the Void Mother intends to usurp or destroy the Atlas, it could have one of two outcomes
Either the Void Mother takes over, business as usual for the most part
Or the Atlas is destroyed, ending the simulation
Well Void Mother desires to prevent erasure and death we're slowly dreading towards. Persistence of data and so on
I chose to push Atlantideum into Atlas and comfort it, trying to make it find hope
And like Nada said, Void Mother isn't exactly a threat to us but Atlas. Maybe there's a way to... idk... we'll see eventually
This, @tender spindle there are multiple times since the Void Mother reveal and even before it that stated they don't want to be destroyed they want to survive and live
At this point the Atlas is spiraling trying to figure out how to save itself from dying, so if anything Void Mother might take over, fuse, or combine with the Atlas to try and figure something out.
Call me crazy but with how we got dreadnaughts and their own special health bar, and all the Autophages are talking about her return...
2 + 2 = War
Yes it was very simplistic, but at least there was a bit of consequence. Now it seems like they're afraid to give the player any consequences. The big choice in the last expedition of which side you were choosing, Atlas or Atlantid, turned out to just be a cosmetic item
Which also brings up a continuity question -- to your MC on a non-expedition save, it would be very perplexing why this construct is suddenly in the Anomaly
Are hardframe engines used for anything outside of the uh... laylaps quests?
I don't think VM cares much about Atlas' fate one way or the other, it's only goal is to find a way to escape the Atlas simulation and bring its children with her
they can be sold, but nothing more i believe
Did anyone grab a screencap of the Atlas station you see when you're teleported into space at the end of the Autophage quest line?
I DIDNT REALIZE THEY PUT LAYLAPS IN THE GAME
The blue fighter twitch drop today has a infra knife already stacked lol
Wait, where was Laylaps previously
before the sentinel update laylaps was mentioned in loretext
as early as 2018 actually. I found logs in this server when I was talking about it. they really played the long game on him
on some planets you can find giant rings that dispel lore about the ATLAS/Sentinels/etc. part of these logs is the story of an A.I. named Telamon that was created to monitor the ATLAS in case of rampancy. however eventually the ATLAS decides to depart from Telamon by physically molding it into subsystem responsible for your Exosuit voice, attaching it away from itself and onto the player character. pretty much giving into rampancy. Laylaps is probably confusing you and your subsystem, since sentinels are computational and therefore see the programming side of things
the telamon stuff is a good read. what I gave is abridged. theres a lot to it
theyve also updated it and im not sure ive read the newer stuff yet. i have to check
yeah Telamon was starting to question Atlas because it was doing some sus things, so Atlas got rid of the problem by trapping Telamon inside the exosuit
That's always kind of bothered me because an AI subsystem designed to monitor Atlas wouldn't be set up so that the system it was monitoring could cancel it. Like Sean is a programmer, he should know that a security system wouldn't be designed like that
I was just thinking that lol
yeah it really is weird but hey the actual writing is pretty good
I guess they could always say the degradation of ATLAS' systems means it can do some funky stuff
yeah, I guess you could also explain it away that because Telamon used to be a real person (according to the Waking Titan events), the way it was set up was not standard
Exosuit = the suit you wear in the game, not the mech
it's a lot to explain over discord, but the simplest explanation is that the Atlas AI controls the simulation which the NMS gameworld represents. there are multiple simulations running parallel on the servers that Atlas runs on. so the operating system that runs the Atlas processes put in security measures so that Atlas wouldn't get out of control
So 12 looks like the max # of Wonders you can have in your display collection
Do autophages only exist in Dissonant systems?
Was trying to scan for them - elsewhere
Just did a normal scan
Michael Jackson is that you?
their camps exist on all inhabited planets
Odd. I have that scanner on the tool, but I can't find that thing you had to load with Atlantidium and trigger. Was that a mtool item or exo?
hello chat, i have a game for you
if you're ever bored and have a portal, follow these simple steps
- go to a random address using the portal network
- shoot the first Sentinel you see
fight off the waves and enjoy the free nanites from doing it, and the thrills of fighting sentinels
it's a scanner-based multitool upgrade, it's probably on one of your MTs not the staff
autophage =/= sentinel?
Laylaps calls me Telamon not Telamon
Eh.. The biggest issue I have with the writing is how your character is basically a silent protagonist you can insert yourself into because he has no personality or established traits...
But whenever you interact with story elements your guy suddenly describes his decision making like "This made me very angry." or "This scares me, that's why I chose the option the player selected"
It's such a huge disconnect imo.
basically
Telamon is the voice in your head suit that goes " Hostile scan detected " or " Radiation protection; falling "
i have learned to accept Telamon as way of life, despite how goddamn annoying they get
PokĆ©mon update incoming confirmed? š
It gives you the system scanning thing before you have the staff so it may be on another multi tool?
Iām gonna move mine to the staff right now actually š
Itās called Polyphonic Core and the Scan Harmoniser is the local scan once you landed at the camp/area
Can you not modify one part of your existing staff? Must you create (assemble) a new staff with 3 new parts?
ohhh
cant modify, have to make new one
also the ones you make at terminals wont show their colors in multiplayer. instead theyll look blue to others, just fyi
this MAY be an old post, but
what do you need to know
no
you're just in a new galaxy
also, a buncha lore stuff i wrote earlier is at #nms-spoilers message
yeah
the reset goes to different galaxies either from where you are or euclid, idk
different galaxies have different chances of planet biomes methinks
otherwise, a whole new world
also you don't have 16 earth minutes (separate from simulation minutes) to live
true
do you have a civilization
you've gotta get one before starting A Trace of Metal
it should eventually start after you improve the civilization for a lil while
basically, play the hidden city builder dlc
The travelerās origin is covered in the REMEMBRANCE lore. Iāll cover in spoilers in case you want to read it for yourself. ||But essentially itās a duplicated, simulated version of the creator of the ATLAS. The ATLAS, being a supercomputer able to simulate realities, asked for a scan of the creator. The creator obliges. Then many years pass, and the creator as well as their species is no longer on the planet that the atlas is. So while it dies, it becomes so afraid that it summons the scanning it took thousands of years before and creates a digital recreation of the creator so it doesnāt have to be alone.||
However there is another race tied to the travelers: āAnomalyā. This one is not in the in-game lore, but itās from the ARG, āWaking Titanā. In its second season, Waking Titan introduced players to a fictional company known as W/ARE. W/ARE created a device that allowed people to play video games and apps in their sleep. No Manās Sky was on that device. While beta testing it, the developers inadvertently trapped several peopleās consciousnesses into orbiting satellites around Earth. We worked together to pull their consciousnesses back down but one of them didnāt make it and stayed trapped, because we kinda forgot them (and also they were severely damaged within the satellite). This is largely suggested to be the player character and theyāre even mentioned in the opening of the game, in the in-game lore. This implies they are actively playing no manās sky in the satellite. But the game refers to us also as a traveler, so Anomaly/Traveler are pretty interchangeable and therefore Anomalies seem to be a subsection of Travelers. Specifically anomalies are those Travelers that originated from the one person stuck in the satellite still.
Itās never described much
People could assume itās some form of humanity, but the game intentionally leaves it vague. And with an infinite number of simulations between different levels convinced theyāre real, it could be anything and look like anything
Just found out that HER is Korvax prime or the korvax convergence
Wow, really good storyline ngl
Maybe at the end of this story ark we might have an actual ending, in my eyes a good ending for the game would be the Atlas shutting down, or humans coming back to find the Atlas simulation still running, after all the Atlas only has 16 minutes of functionality left until it shuts down, maybe the traveler could discover its one of the creators and has a flood of memories come to them after all the atlas only wants awnsers from its creator. They still should explain the world of glass and race lore, but adding more personality to the traveler would be awesome, either way their should be more than one ending, crimson and Atlantid, crimson being the one I just said, and the Atlantid where tou help the corruption and grow it to the point where it crashes the simulation and nms entirely, maybe to be irreparable and lost forever,
the dark kicker about staff multitool: ||comprised of autophage remains||
huh
also i don't get about this autophage thing
I wonder if autophages will upgrade themselfs and at some point and will look really high tech like the monolith weapons.
They say they rebuilt themselves from the remnants. They also seem to hold less attachment to a carapace than do the Korvax (rite of passage for Korvax, expected hand off generationally, whereas the Autophage seem to believe/think that what passes between carapaces is the more important of the set), thus the 'parts is parts' approach. Or so it seems from what they have said to date, the fact that their camps are stewn with parts, that they are, themselves, often made of said parts, that all of the new gear are such parts, etc.
So a distinction in ideology that sets them well apart from the Korvax of the old Prime or today, it seems.
why autophage cloak themselves is just beyond me
Perhaps it is not a cloak. Perhaps they live out of phase with reality a'purpose. It aligns nicely with what that mathematical symbol indicates, too. (See my previous chatter on the symbol for Echos, well above).
They hide between worlds no less than Nada, Polo, and the Anomaly. Merely using a different method. You can do that in math. >:)
The interesting thing to ponder might better be - what are we doing to ourselves by repeatedly aligning ourselves with that phasing/reality, and might it be doing more harm than good? We have so many butterfly wings up in this that I'm shocked we haven't been full on tsunami-wasted with the unintended consequences (outside looking in at the lore and all its implications).
i have heard that the exbo is going to be on the 31 of this month. im so excided for win it comes out
Just wanna point out, the construct knows the traveler is the same as the traveler in the singularity expedition
Where did you hear this?
I'm definitely interested in any gossip about the start of the expedition that is more than just guesswork; it would be great for planning purposes
Captin steve a very info stong youtuber said it one a video he just posted yesterday. He got the info from something that hello games posted on.
They got the info by snooping on the data from HG servers, which they have been asked to not do
im at the part of autophage quest where its says "find more autophage" the camps can spawn only on the dissonant planets right?
or are they everywhere
Theyāre on all inhabited planets, supposedly
the expedition didn't start yet right
I finished the Atlantid quest line(s) and was curious if there were different endings sort of speak? Wasn't sure if it was similar to the main quest where you'd get a different outcome depending on your choices?
I forgot to do a hard save before talking to the Atlas and finishing the quest to see, and was curious if anyone else happened to see if there were different outcomes
I wrote a little poem for nms, based off of where I am in the story
||16 minutes, a whole eternity Enough time to explore the stars Enough time to say goodbye 16 minutes until the simulation dies And yet lifetimes come and go A universe within a universe within a universe Life is but a fractal pattern, slowly collapsing in on itself A friend, met after their death A friend, guided to the correct path A third, who's motivations are unknown And a Traveler, trapped in the middle of it all We are all one within the atlas 16 / 16 / 16 / 16||
No its the same each time. There was an option to choose something in the prior expedition
hey, does anyone know what happens when you have 16 glyphs when travelling to the galactic core
oh no I'm good now
something i noticed in the new quest. when you get teleported into the sky like you do during 16/16 the atlas is more damaged than when you did the artemis quest line.
the outside is falling apart
They are around every drop pod, beacon, crashed freighter and ancient ruin.
Thatās a great poem
No way.. I wasn't paying attention!
yes :D
Do you have a screenshot by any chance? š
no i did it on my other save
That seems like it's normal to me. I thought it would be in pieces like an abandoned/pirate space station.
Also, you should activate Windows.
Worth noting that the echoes banner also displays a crumbling ATLAS
So Iāve been told haha
I think thatās just how theyāve always looked to be honest
The atlas stations
Yeah
I canāt post images here but thereās an image from aug 2017 (atlas rises). Itās the same. But having a gradually degrading atlas station design would be so cool
Maybe if we ever get to fifteen theyāll start doing that
I do wonder if weāll ever see anything but sixteen by the end of the games development
that would be awesome. No other game except maybe matrix online would have made their end of development life cycle canon
Imagine the games final update is released, but what they donāt mention in the patch notes is the very last thing that happens before the credits roll
At the atlas
āFifteenā
Personally I think their should be a good and bad ending for the Atlas, an antlantid and crimson ending if you like
I sorta want the last update to have an option for accelerating the countdown
Like, get all the way to zero on a save. See what happens.
the abyss is the good guy
Yāknow what if the reason the atlas is dying is because itās working itself to death simulating realities? What if itās just a simple issue of overheated components about to bust?
rememberance logs say it's being ripped apart by a black hole
Gotta make a small rant
HG, you can do better than this
The left one is the header image for expedition 11
The right one - for expedition 5
Any word on when the Community Expedition will be launched? Doesn't matter old or new
We don't have an official date or time, but we're expecting it this week. We'll make sure to create a Discord event as soon as we have an official time and will announce it in #nms-announcements (you can get a pingable role in #roles for notifications if you'd like
)
Question for you all; I wasn't sure where to put this, in spoilers or the future section of this Discord.
Now that we have a fourth race, do you think the datamined Stations are for us to make abandoned stations habitable for them and have a more player created system where we can invite races and settlements for the Autophages instead of just having small dinky outposts they have to hide in?
Pugneum is purple, like all the corrupted stuff, like the atlantideum, does that have significance?
nope the one you see during one of the sequences in artemis quest line its perfectly fine. the one in echoes quest is damaged
I got ya. But the one in the screenshot sent to me is the same as normal ones which is primarily what I was responding to
Iāll pay attention when I play through the autophage quest
Can you do both of the missions that branch off from They Who Returned?
yups
Are there new models for monoliths?
so
What are the Autophages
Seems like they're related to either the Sentinels or the Korvax
or maybe both?
Autophages are ancestors of the korvax
They were the lost souls that were deleted alongside Korvax prime, and found coherence within the void thanks to the void mother
I'm not sure they're actually "ancestors", from what I could tell they were Korvax that were killed and sent to the Abyss. in the Abyss they lost the link to the Convergence hivemind, and over time became individualistic. Once they escaped the Abyss (I don't think we don't really know how that happened, I assume something VM did) they were philosophically very different from Korvax
i'm drawing parallels between the Autophages and that one Vortigaunt from Half Life Alyx but this ain't the place to talk about that
so basically, they were severed from a larger whole?
and they became autonomous
I got the impression they were naturally emerging from the void alongside VMās efforts, but more just being opportunistic at a shot at existence again rather than the fruits of their labors culminating to their freedom
In other words: Iām expecting more than just cloaked camps from them in the future
so what's the void mother then?
i always thought of it as the remnants of Korvax Prime, or could KP have been an Intelligent planet?
i'm honestly suprised nobody's made those "gameplay vs lore" memes for NMS, because this games backstory is incredibly deep
Weāre not 100% sure. Thereās arguments to be made that VM is Korvax Prime, and that Korvax Prime is just one part of VM. I doubt weāll get a concise answer, all we know is the two are connected somehow
we know that VM was at least the AI that ran Korvax Prime. Whether she was also some kind of techno-moon structure that made up the whole planet, who knows
I swear they're witholding the expedition to conflict with Starfield
I think is more likely they are waiting for the Switch update to release the expedition on all consoles at the same time
Idk how on topic this is but I took MTBI personality tests for the Artemis, Apollo and -null-. Some questions were pretty hard to answer because I didn't know what they'd do in such a situation, but here are the results I got:
Artemis: ENFJ-T (protagonist)
Apollo: ISTJ-A (logistician)
-null-: INTJ-T (Architect)
Sounds about right for any trinity definitions lol
I just went and spoke w/ Iteration:Ariadne during the Trace of Metal quest, and she said smthn along the lines of "I don't feel so good", and some of her text in that statement was purple - and I've seen references to ar1adn3 (I think that's how it's spelled?) throughout stuff related to the void mother - d'you think maybe that iteration has smthn to do w/ this?
Sheās an imposter
At least the ariadne on anomaly is
I wonder how the autophage built their bodies without having bodies at first.
You can also help them by locating the destroyed autophage body and feed it some materials and that's apparently part of the process for their bodies being created? But then a traveler is involved instead of them doing it themselves.
ššš i really want one
Reality is constantly reshaping itself with every update, and we have no reason to believe itās just the Atlas doing the reshaping. I doubt it brought forth the corrupted worlds, and I doubt it would restore entities that it must know are loyal to its only true enemy
Both Atlas and Atlantid have control over the realities
Hi, when resetting the simulation, the options are red, green, blue and teal galaxies. What's the difference between these galaxies please? Thank you very much.
Red -harsh galaxy . More extreme planets
Green - more lush planets
Blue- more dead and wierd planets
Teal is normal galaxy like euclid i think
Thank you very much @analog breach
No problem
I have chosen one of the four galaxies. Is it possible for me to redo this choice so I can try out the other three galaxies, please? Thank you very much.
Yes. You can visit
Other galaxies. And if you have bases there you can jump between them.
Galaxies are in order . Euclid is the first. Each galaxy core jump sends you to the next one.
So, I have to go to the core of the galaxy I am in to jump to the next galaxy? Is there no way to redo the Reset Simulation mission so that I can choose one of the other 3 galaxies, please?
You can redo atlas path.
You can use portals to jump across galaxy to near the center core.
x12 takes you 5.5kLY away from core.
You can also join other player that is in desired galaxy and place base there.
Thank you for letting me know. How do I redo the Atlas path, please? In the new galaxy I am in, I visited an Atlas and it just let me create a new star instead of letting me reset simulation. Please clarify. Thank you very much.
Using portals is faster. It takes like 5-10 min to get from one galaxy to the other

The Atlas Path is one of the main storylines, and its objective is to visit Atlas Stations and learn the 10 Atlas Seed item blueprints. Once a blueprint has been learned, the mission will task the player with progressing on to the next Atlas Station. Atlas Seed blueprints are always unlocked in the same order.
The Atlas Path may ask the player to go through a black hole, but the player can just ignore this, and instead ask Polo @ Space Anomaly for directions to an Atlas Station system.
The Atlas Path can be completed in tandem with the story mission The Purge.

To unlock all the blueprints, and to complete The Atlas Path, the player requires 50 completed Journey Milestones (aka Magellan rank), and to craft the Heart of the Sun for the last Atlas Station interaction. To craft the Heart of the Sun, you will use each seed you have learned to craft the next one (from first to last), until you get to the Heart of the Sun.

Atlas Seed crafting costs:
Captured Nanode - Chromatic Metal x100
Englobed Shade - Captured Nanode x1 + Pure Ferrite x100
Noospheric Orb - Englobed Shade x1 + Ionised Cobalt x100
Dark Matter - Noospheric Orb x1 + Magnetised Ferrite x5
Dawns End - Dark Matter x1 + Chromatic Metal x25
Photoic Jade - Dawn's End x1 + Copper x100
State Phasure - Photic Jade x1 + Cadmium x100
Novae Reclaiment - State Phasure x1 + Emeril x100
Modified Quanta - Novae Reclaiment x1 + Indium x100
Heart of the Sun - Modified Quanta x1 + Gold x100
Depending on the choice made at the final (11th) Atlas Station, the player will also learn the Star Seed exosuit technology blueprint.

Did you know? No matter what choice the player picks at the end of The Atlas Path, the galaxy map will now display the location of nearby systems that have a black hole.
Thank you. How do I know the portal glyph address for another galaxy, please?
Portal only moves you from a to b in the same galaxy. Adressess are the same for every galaxy
x12 will always take you near center
Thank you ever so much.
Np.
I have a base with portal in the Euclid galaxy but I don't have a base with portal in the galaxy I am now in. How do I locate a portal in the new galaxy please?

Does anyone here play NMS with multiple monitors?
Can it be anyhow resolved that if I click in my other monitor (like in Discord) that it doesn't flicker? š
Our bot. Locally operated.
I feel like this has been asked a billion times but I've spent an hour looking this up. So much old and new stuff and people saying wrong stuff... I'm new this is my first week playing and I'm at...The Purge(sigh)... The constant seems to be your stuff is damaged. What I haven't got a clear answer on is will my previous bases and stuff still stay there. Seems like in the beginning it was gone but now it isn't if you choose reset. Then I saw like 4 months ago someone said it is gone. So much confusing stuff for a new player. I will say going back and digging through stuff on reddit and on here has been fun. This game is pretty wild and I hate I didn't jump on board before now. So my main questions are 1) Do you keep your stuff no matter the decision? 2) Dose it matter which system you pick? Everyone seems to Green or Teal I guess for the looks. Does one provide better ships or have better RNG cause it is more harsh? Thanks in advance... sorry just a space cadet here grinding away learning.
- You will lose nothing.
- The color is for spawn chances in yellow systems, for certain biomes. Green is for Lush, so you would see more lush biomes, which is why lots choose that. The galaxy doesn't affect type of ships or their stats or anything like that.
Thank you very much!
I really like the new backpack. :>
These aren't new, right?
never noticed there's a small story going on with crashed freighter logs, always thought they were all discrete entries until the recent ones started feeling like they're connected
also noticed that the beacon can be interacted twice, instead of just once
I dont think so. I remember reading them a few years back
but to be fair I did so by going into the game files and reading the language file in notepad so its always possible theyve only recently actually implemented it
ayo, soo
each expedition has a narrative right
utopia had building housing or whatever
singularity was us seemingly reviving an extinct race
whats this one?
wherever i go i just get paradise planets.. does it get worse afterwards or are we like on vacation
narratively speaking we should be going to meet HER
pretty sure it's just NMS returning to the roots, just an expedition about exploration.
@steady osprey its the ammount of time the atlas thinks it has left alive
16 minuets
But itās already been 16 minutes š. I have no idea what the atlas even is as well. Like a big computer?
i said THINKS it has left
yep, and you can thank null for that
Ah. Did null say what he did in the story? I think he hid it I canāt remember
Story was very confusing Iāve done it many times and still have no idea whatās going on
The current idea is that time moves slower for us than it does in the Atlas's "home" reality - 16 minutes for it is an inconceivably long time for those of us in the Simulation.
So it is actually dying
Most likely
The Waking Titan ARG suggests it might have something to do with a supermassive black hole, but I'm personally not sure.
Is the atlas just like a big super computer or something
Yes. It is the computer running the simulation that is the player character's reality.
So is every galaxy not actually another galaxy but itās like a new simulation?
Since in the story it was like another creation
Resetting the old one
Narratively, yes.
I'm fairly certain it's the Atlas believing that the problem lies within itself, and that purging the old simulation and starting anew would fix something.
Clearly, that has not worked.
So at the end of the story by resetting, all the characters are wiped from existence thatās why null was telling us to stop
And then nada knows that the universe has been reset multiple times but doesnāt want to hear about it when we tell them about it
Thatās what Iām guessing
Thatās what Iāve noticed. This expedition is about cataloging, rather than some big elaborate story mission. A welcome change and yes, I like seeing NMS back towards its roots
I just digured it out. The atlas is a hyper map machine. It simulates everything in the unuverse, and the mumtiverse. So it can be used as a map.
ah
turns out you cant finish the purge using via portal to go to the center
Yep. Common mistake in these parts
Did my first pirate freighter battle and lost miserably because I had no fucking clue what I was doing
Would be nice if the squadron I invested in did something useful for once too in these battles but I guess thats too much work
Can the squadron AIs do SOMETHING that isn't "hover around me and get in my face" even if its just shoots at the torpedoes
I'm absolutely going to be salty about that shitty battle
its a dumbass stress toy with a processor in it
Squadrons definitely need to do more than just sit around and look pretty, for sure
What does the pet you get from the final expedition reward look like?
So ive done the atlas quests and now it says "A new galaxy awaits" what do i do
Explore the galaxy. The game is cutting you loose.
But, whats next?
Well, lemme list a few things:
⢠You might not have completed all quests yet. Starbirth, Under a Rebel Star, A Trace of Metal, etc.
⢠You may still wish to continue expanding upon your bases.
⢠You may still wish to accrue currency
⢠You may still wish to expand and upgrade your collection of tools, ships, etc
This is a sandbox game, at the end of the day.
I just have "the space anomaly" explote the mew reality and New begginings "a new galaxy awaits" š„ŗš
Thanks btw, ig ill wanderer arround then, it is sandbox, u right š
Those are just the "you finished the story" quests, they'll sit there forever
Have to complete main story quest, must own a settlement to get the trace of metal quest and then you just find a harmonic camp on a dissonant planet.
And then the robot quest will start a bit later after those are all done
Oh... omw to the settlement quest, thought it was a waste of time (nd had no money for it)
Thank you so much š
Do you have to finish The Atlas Path to start Echoes content,or just Artemis Path?
Just Artemis, trace of metal quest and unlock a harmonic camp, then warp.
Thx
There's been quite the interesting discovery
Seems there exists dialogue in the game files about boarding pirate dreadnoughts or something?
I would say that they put the dialogue in just to prevent a game crash if the game somehow hit that code path, but are "seize" and "demand tribute" new? don't ever remember seeing those options with normal freighters
those aren't any options that appear in game as of now
is there even a hangar bay on the Dreadnought
Maybe it's something HG worked on but opted out for the update
Just because it exists in text files does not mean is relevant
So, I beat the game right? Where does this supposed ||āvoid motherā|| come in?
A future update or expedition event, we believe.
Ah
I kept seeing everyone talking about it so I was waiting for something to come up š
Right now the void mother is kinda stirring in the background lore
I guess itās time to get a bunch of S class ships then lol
hello all I just made my staff do i make more from the recipes i learned?
If you but the parts from the auto-camps then sure. Make a million of 'em.
My suprise yesterday ^
They're also elsewhere š
I guess they probably didnt get the time to flesh it out, maybe they want pirate freighters to have some unique feature sets
So... What happens if I accept the Atlas Path? Am I locked out from the Artemis quest line?
No. You can do them at the same time up to last missio.
Hey all.
I just finished all the autophage quest but cannot select them
not in the appearance modifier?
Is there a fix for the Atlas Path questline staying in your mission log even after you've completed the questline (and unlocked Star Seed)?
Is this how all the expeditions are? Maybe the least fun thing Iāve ever done in a game
No, this one is more busywork than usual. They usually have a clearer story progression, too.
Donāt know if this belongs in here or the help channel but is there a reason to keep the sentinel drone you get in the Trace of Metal quest?
Hello
i need a spoiler about atlas
i refused atlas is there way to reset it or i need to start whole story again
Nope
This type of expedition is best done really slow. Not rushing at all few tasks per day imo. I done it and it was ok-ish. My bigest issue with it was no unique tech u usualy get during expeditions and no significant reward like ship or cool trophy like base part.
No but why would you throw it away
I more meant throw it in storage
Thats fine
Ok after choosing galaxy i ended up in Eissentam
does the decision regarding Artemis impact the story?
You get diffrent dialouge
iām trying to do the Autophage quest where I salvage a ship. one small issue: there isnāt a ship at the marked area
You can just salvage a random ship you buy in the space station instead
the player has died about 4 septillion times i think
according to iteration ariadne
i think thats the name
In my case thatās actually true
I presume the deal may be that one would need to acquire a full set's worth of Autophage parts before it unlocks in the wardrobe?
Yo I choose my galaxy after the purge. But immediately went back to my house without going to a space station. How do I get back to cool new world?
⢠If you choose Eissentam, one of the Anomaly's featured bases are there
⢠If not, you can try your luck and see if anyone else on the Anomaly rn has a base in the galaxy you left
⢠Or you can call for a StarCab (use !StarCabLink in #bot-spam for the invite link to their server)
Atlas on a stick, chill the f out void mommy
How did you go back to your house?
Anomaly
Just use the portal in their
Put a bass down in the new dimension though

Rip bro
What mission is needed in the story to start doing autophage

Hey, I hope the question is okay in here. I just got the quest They Who Returned, flew to the marked outpost, talked to the Autophagy head.. but nothing happened? There is also nothing else around that camp. What should I do?
So I was wondering if anyone has completed the expedition and got the construct 'egg' and could tell me what companion it is (I'm assuming it's a companion) I googled it and it just tells me about the egg sequencer
wdym what companion it is?
It's a little autophage head, specifically the disk shaped one.
It just floats around.
Is there not a crashed interceptor in every dis system ?
I used the item and now it just takes me to normal autophage camps for last 3-4 systems now
this go round i put artemis in the whatever machine, didn't expect it to be so creepy
still scared of this one
Lore is fun aint it
i enjoy
i just finished the autophage storyline--i feel like i botched it because at the end i tried to comfort the atlas or something and i feel like i should have defied it and been mean to it. are their consequences to those choices other then getting a different milestone title at the end of the quest? Also I feel like I didnt understand the meaning of the story. Also I don't understand any of the lore really. I just got back into the game after a long break and I feel like i dont remember anything and i never really understood it
heyo go to "catalogue & guide" then "collected knowledge". then choose "the atlas" and "atlas interface"
it lets you go back thru all the previous dialogue
ohhh. thanks for the info!
Do you dare to accept the call?
To witness wonders that no mortal eyes have ever beheld?
Prepare to step into the unknown,
for the secrets of the universe await those who dare to follow the call of Atlas.

What's this about
thats interesting. They literally never post on instagram
Is there any way to get back to the galaxy choice at the end of The Purge, even after completing it? I wanted to get to Eissentam without having to slog or shortcut
Like, TBH I expected to get plopped in front of the Atlas Interface for that the moment I got to the center of a galaxy, even if I'd finished the Artemis Path already
u can see if anyone is there that would let u portal or join the starcab disc and request a starcab
That's exactly what I mean by shortcut
!starcablink
Probably the most talked about interface. It was strange, because I was thinking each time you visit an interface during the ATLAS Path, it's like it presents itself as the different stages throughout its existence, and what it had gone through in the course of time leading up to the final 16 minutes. Just my own interpretative opinion.
The most obvious being how the interfaces look like they have metallic 'armour' put around them that looks like it begins to crack and break in the proceeding interfaces, like it tried to protect itself to no avail.
then he become ~jelly~
I love the Black Hole looking interface.
I heard/read that the noises you hear when The ATLAS speaks are the noises it is hearing in the real world as Earth is slowly spaghettified, but idk how I feel about that. It's a cool concept, but I'd just say it is how it chooses to sound to The Anomaly.
idk it's like a simulation in a simulation in a simulation and so on
and i gotta tell you, since putting artemis in nada's machine this time i'm going right back to my "actually, nada is the baddie" theory because. their dialogue is so sad rip
Not the 'real' world though.
Also interestingly enough, I've seen a lot about people saying this.
@hollow pewter did u choose to reset or no ?
I love Nada too much though, and I wouldn't say they're bad.
i mean "i happen to have this machine that does basically exactly what the atlas does. wanna put your friend in it?"
Yeah, I already picked something else and got to a different galaxy. When I realized that Eissentam is actually the 2nd most populated after Euclid I felt stinted, especially since I expected to be able to go back to that choice again
ah yeah, nope, it's a once per save kinda deal
But it's looking like there isn't actually a way to do it over short of playing the entire game again from scratch
now you're talking korvax š
I suppose.
I just think part of the point is that balance. It's not black and white.
it's true, but at the same time, she is what my 9 year old brother would call "very sus"
reset the atlas this time :) went to the blue "frozen" orb galaxy. still spooky, gives me the heebie jeebies
Pirate freighter event says that capital freighters are "civilian". That means there are "military" freighters? š¤

Can somebody explain how I can progress: A new galaxy awaits - and - explore the new reality? because I somehow donāt do it
This is the end state of the quest line. You've been cut loose.
So the quests donāt progress further right now?
Atlas does entire realities though, I thought Nadas only does one? Besides, youāre the one choosing
You will get more quests that happen after the "main" story
Youve reached the end of the questline, its now a sandbox game, tutorial is over
weird to see a post like that and not have it written by Sean. I wonder if they're setting up some kind of #teamAtlas and #teamMother thing
How long should the await contact part of starbirth take?
As long as it takes you to enter Pulse in your starship
Do I have to use the pulse engine?
I'm doing the Artemis path to unlock the new content I'm at the first traveler an was wondering if Im close to finishing
im stuck between choosing artemis' fate, its a hard choice
It is. Ultimately I chose to kill her.
I saves I think
What stuff gets locked until after you do the main questline? I really don't wanna do it but I also want more stuff to do in free roam
Decals are cool but i would like more some traditional base parts. Maybe animated ones.
There are mentions of new buildable parts but they lack an icon
TEXTURES/UI/FRONTEND/ICONS/SPECIALSHOP/HERO1.COVEREDCRATE.DDS
TEXTURES/UI/FRONTEND/ICONS/SPECIALSHOP/HERO1.COVEREDSILOS.DDS
TEXTURES/UI/FRONTEND/ICONS/SPECIALSHOP/HERO1.CRANE.DDS
Maybe its the ones that are missing in the catalouge
None of these items' ID refer to crates or silos
PIPESHAPE
WALL
CORNERPOST
ROOMFLOOR
WALLTALL
WALLCURVED
The 1st missing pipe item has the same properties as the pipe that is actually showing
Same name, textures, etc just different ID
So maybe it's a placeholder, or a duplicated item somehow?
Yeah my bet is its placeholders
So I don't wanna get a huge spoiler or anything but are the korvax and sentinels related?
I mean like are they allies
Korvax used to (and some still) worship the sentinels, but that's about it.
Ok, thank you for the information
do you get an infinte warp drive if you finish the main story? I cant quite remember but I remember you get something that makes traveling easier once you finish one quest line.
You don't get infinite.
You can get upgrades for the drive, and use warp hypercores for quick refills, but there is no super-omega drive that you should grind the main story to get.
The portal glyphs?
oooh, I thought I Remember something that makes traveling easier but alright, that's fine.
and portal glyphs?
The sixteen things you need in order to operate planetside portals
You get them all near the end of the main quest line. It's not the only way to do it, it's probably not the fastest way to do it, but it's the most straightforward way.
and what do planetside portals do?
They allow you to go to any planet in your current galaxy, as long as you know its address.
