The bases cannot possibly cover all the terrain, just pick a direction where you don't see a base that way and move until you can place the refiner. NMS does try to encourage perseverance and patience sometimes.

If you're on Xbox or PS then it's still possible to edit the save ... it's just a lot more involved unless that's been stopped as it's been a while since I've played or messed around with the save editor. But in most cases Google will have the answer ... 😉

You can summon broken ships in your Freighter once you have one, or if it is the active one when you use a teleporter it teleports with you (so for example once on your freighter you can teleport it to a station to scrap it without repairing it at all). I'm not sure, can you also summon damaged ships in the Nexus Anomaly? (if so, teleport it to a Station from there even before you own a freighter)

early game, the best thing to do is check the local mission board for photo missions. You'll quite often be sent into systems with decent lush worlds (though the mission might be on a hell planet). Rememebr any planet with STAR BULB listed will be some sort of grassy world, whatever the name is. Later on you'll discover them by chance..

When you capture a dreadnaught, you get all of the weapons and engines repaired
But the ship never fires on enemy ships, even if you're having a fight right next to it
They should try to fix this
