A region is a cube with something around 400LY edges, each region contains a couple hundred stars. Therefore, after doing the calculations, Given:
Region edge length: 400 LY. Galaxy dimensions: 4095×4095×255. The total dimensions of one NMS galaxy become: 4095×400≈1.638×106 LY for width and length, and: 255×400≈1.02×105 LY for height. So one galaxy is approximately: 1.64 million LY × 1.64 million LY × 102,000 LY. if you're going after red ones, make sure you have personal force field so you can block the dogs' lasers.
If you go purple, make sure you don't fight where there are too many caves.. last boss likes to end up underground if you stray too far from your origin point

how about this. the module we can build from the anomaly i think its the A class on the far left. claims to disable the gravity driven pulse drive. I have found it weird to get used to, but the effect is when you speed forward and turn sharply the ship continues sliding and backwards - though not a true straffe it's got some of the character of drift.

any system with NPC buildings has a chance at travellers replacing the common NPCs.. sometimes it's on the station, and sometimes it's on the planet. You're in an area of space where the rotation is more likely to pass thru the station.

or, at least, ive twice found travellers in adjacent planetside buildings.

there are crashed freighters on planets, you can find them with "emergency distress" maps from cartographer. Each wreck has SIX cargo drums to loot.
you can also sometimes find missions at the station mission board that reward them.
