Since a very long time ago...Waypoint I think...jumping out of a normal starship overwrites the restore point...only exceptions are docking with freighter you don't own or derelict freighter...unless you use a Corvette...in which case there are no exceptions, if you get out of your pilot seat the restore point overwrites without exception.

You can put them underground and also I wire glitch build a little bit I don't like cheating or duplicating but I like making things tiny so I make them very tiny and hide them everywhere because they even work underground

And then you can hide all the wires with the wire hider icon and I usually just dig a hole and bury that lol
