To find a portal, what I do is that I drop to a planet, summon my roamer exocraft, which is equipped with a scanner that can locate alien structures (monolith). I go to the monolith, solve the puzzle/riddle, and then ask it to give me the location of the portal on that planet.

You can also buy alien cartographic data at a space station, cost is navigation data. Once you find an alien monolith it’ll ask you some bs like do you want language or location, doesn’t matter what you pick. Once you finish that, interact with it again and it will offer to tell you where a portal is

There are some parts that were arbitrarily decided by the devs to be basic, you can buy them with units, it's probably so you can build first corvette in the corvette introductory mission.

Other modules were decided to be in the advanced category, you can't buy them with units and you can't exchange basic parts for advaced parts. Probably as a way of banacing it so you don't buy crap ton of basic ones with units and then use them to get other parts.

I guess developers intended us to go out and gather parts in other ways and then exchange those parts if we want specific ones. You can get planets when you crack open salvage containers on planets with salvageable scrap, I think you can also get them in different ways like missions or find drifting in space.

Nutrient processor makes 100 units at a time. E.g. you are making flour and butter for pies. Well, if you make 5 stacks of each, so 500, then in the ingredient storage it uses up 10 slots. 10 slots is 20% of the entire storage. Just to make basic stuff.

I tried scrapping a sentinel in a furnace. I was disappointed.

It made me very upset that I couldnt have cooked sentinel for dinner

I just walk around with one of those little healer sentinels in my grip and just slam it against rocks and the ground for like 5-10 minutes sometimes, now that I can.

I've only come close to dying once in permadeath and thats due to a game breaking bug

I managed to close my game before it happened so worked out

Once due to the realization that standing on my corvette will not protect me from the pull of a tornado

Naturally, there were two predators, so I got bit a second time, and my shield went down

Panicked, I dug a hole to avoid rapidly freezing to death

Managed to recover my defenses, and got bitten at least once more through the ground because these creatures had reach hacks I guess

But, in the end, I made it out alive

Even harvested the salvageable scrap

I mean, if I didnt dig down, the cold wouldve got me

This was all happening during a blizzard, too

But even when it wasnt storming, it was very cold

But yeah, I'm not setting foot on that planet again if I can help it

Theres a tendency for some planets to generate with a prehistoric theme, so theyll have multiple species of fauna resembling dinosaurs

I wish we had the dragonfly exocraft. It would be cool to have another potential AI controlled exocraft like a gunship

I take to killing most predators i run across on my abandoned save since I have them turned on. Dont want to get nibbled when busy with something else.

You can gather parts from salvageable scrap planets. You use your analysis visor (the thing that makes your screen go blue) and the icon your looking out for is like a golden wifi symbol
