I really don‘t get why people are still so obsessed with this tbh, NMS was never that type of game. It was developed as a lite-survival space sandbox game; which heavily favored nomadic gameplay. Basically Minecraft in space, as people like to say (Sean said he was inspired by „the long dark“ too).

Cities just don‘t fit into the vision, and also don‘t really work within the engine limits seeing how two colossal archives next to each other can cause the game to crash.

I think with careful texture management and using procedural textures the game engine could handle cities

The city thing will never work. This is coming from a quite vocal supporter aka me. What we still need in the game is urban PoI especially given the new trucking mechanic. For that, small towns would suffice. For bigger urban/industrial environments, space station interior expansion and freighter shipyards would be the best

On the "A Trace of Metal" quest, I was to interact with a factory terminal. I did that, I got the legs blueprint, I installed it, but the quest seems to be stuck on this step and won't progress. Is there a way for me to reset or kickstart it? I have tried saving and relogging, even quitting the game completely, to no avail. Any tips?

If you go 5000 LY away, usually quests can be reset using nearby planets.

Haven't seen that problem specifically, though.

#nms-questions usually has better answers to that kind of question, though. Much better troubleshooters there.

Quick questions! I now have a collossus, which is really fun. If I go on another planet, create a new geobay, and call the colossus, will it have the same inventory? or Do I need to empty the inventory each time I'm setting off for a new planet?

It's just I saw a suit module to also call your exocraft, so I was wondering what the difference was between that and creating a geobay

but the suit module is hidden behind a lot of quests, you need to unlock purple systems before you get the materials (unless someone gifts them to you)

I think this is one of the strengths of both this game and this community. People change their difficulty, and install mods to make it easier/less of a grind, and nobody cares.

Probably better, yes. If you have a freighter, you can just claim it, otherwise you must fix launch thruster and pulse engine if I'm not mistaken, to be able to summon it on a space station for salvage.

If it's a nice upgrade from your previous ship, it's probably cheaper in the early game to fix the ship than trying to buy the equivalent.

the things you should look at are class, number of upgrade module slots, and number of inventory slots. You can always upgrade everything, but if you're trying to replace your current ship, it should at least be better. If it's a higher class, you might forgive less number of inventory slots and upgrade module slots, but I wouldn't go very low on them. When you figure out how to get lots of units, getting an A or even S-tier ship isn't that problematic.

Also, I feel like this game has two distinct MAJOR phases; before and after corvette. In my opinion, a corvette is your end-game ship regardless of what you find during the early game.

then it might just be worth the time it takes to fix it 🙂 besides, I think every pilot in this game should fix at least one ship during their game time, you'll appreciate the time you save later when you get alternative ways to get ships or upgrades 🙂
