Just to make sure you're aware, but they only rerun the most recent expeditions at the end of the year. That said you also don't actually need to do the expedition to get any of the gameplay shown off in expeditions. Every mechanic showcased in expeditions are also in the main game all the time. What you get from expedition are a few cosmetic items and trophies and a story tailored to show off a specific aspect that also exists in the main game.

There are several ways. One way is to repeat derelict freighters, as there are a couple of things you get that way that refine to nanites at 5:1 (runaway mould, after refining living slime) or 1:2 (tainted metal)

I think the fastest way to make nanites would be harvesting and refining curious deposits, mainly with mining yield food buffs and a lot of refiners

I would agree. Find Curious Deposits and build a base with refiners. Every time you save and reload the Curious Deposits respawn (or if you go far e nough and come back, etc. Some people make a Short Range Teleporter corridor far enough from the Curious Deposit that they can walk to the end and back and mke it respawn.)

I’ve got one planet where is constantly storms, two bases at two curious deposit sites. Teleport from one to the other and back. Use a atlantid weapon with maxed mining mods, and my corvette with four refiners. I’ll have to try out the mining yield food, didn’t know that was a thing.

You need to purchase a gravitino tool from the multitool vendor on the Anomaly, then use it at a recycling facility to throw 1 industrial waste into the industrial waste recycler

And that will give you the flat bed chassis

It can be possible for the bases to get confused about where the base limits are, and when they do, base parts beyond those limits do not appear (but are in the base data struct anyway, just not editable if not displayed). Something like that happens if you build too high in the sky also, or hit the absolute range limit from the base computer (1000u radius). Normally can't build beyond that, but it may glitch and let you place it, never to see it again.

You can try save and reload to see if that jogs the range limit memory.

Weird, but fair enough! I was building fairly high up, as the waste dump and recycling center were not level to each other

I was building an "orbital Station" in an uncharted system (as high as I could get it) and started hitting the height limit and in one corner, the absolute range limit from the base computer (which is derived from the base computer initial position, even if you later move it, not from the place you move it to.) I didn't notice the missing chunk of the landing bay until next time I came to that base, because it let me place it, only to make it vanish when the base was next reloaded.

Me and a buddy used to make Short Range Teleporter corridors between our (adjacent) bases so we could go back and forth. I even did two bases of my own that way, but it is a bit harder. The trick for multiplayer coop bases is to not upload either and to not be in the same multiplayer group at the same time with either of you as host because that shortcuts the "other base is downloadable" issues. Build your base and show the buddy where you Short Range Teleporter is then they build their base's version next to where you showed them and then you both upload bases and the base parts coreside happily.

In the case where I owned both bases I made the Short Range Teleporter corridor in the direction of the other base and just stopped halfway, then switched to editing the second base, and made a Short Range Teleporter corridor back, and it let me put the second one next to the last one of the other base because it could not recognize the base boundary that far from the base computer (I presume).

The drawback to having multiple bases on a planet is that you can only upload one: last one uploaded is the only one anyone else will see, except if you are a multiplayer group host, the members of your group can see your bases uploaded (and so downloadable) or not.

Someone on here used to throw parties at a multi-base planet: we would one by one join their group, and then once there and their bases were downloaded to us by the hosting backend, we would leave the group and let someone else join his game: the bases remained persistent in our game for the duration of the party.

How to get started...

1. Complete the Artemis Path (the main story of the game).
