I think its something they did when they added corvettes, but essentially, you start playing at 60 fps, and as you do stuff, say, fly to a different planet, or call in your corvettes, each time you do one of those things, you get lower and lower performance, to the point you have to restart the game

Then its 60 fps again

Oh dw then the waste heap of 1 was the worse and do the 6 way points once you have access to your ship after stage 5 because then you can fly to the trade post and near it are a crap load of small Outposts but I do reccomend to check every waypoint you come across now too

when I played on xbox one I had this a lot, after maybe 1 hour of gameplay my performance would get so good I'd have to restart to play properly, if not I'd eventually crash (especially when entering planets and similar things you said)

there was a prompt before you ended the expy to save anything you wanted to keep. That's exactly why. If you started fresh, it makes a new save. If you went in from an existing save, you have to do it after stage5, but before hitting the final button... then you're back where you started.
