yeah like i said i think its a stability issue or drivers, update both your bios and check nvidia for new drivers, also maybe look up if the integrated graphics are necessary when using the laptop and if not check if you can run your laptop fine using only the gpu, which will at least get rid of the possibility of conflicting hardware, did you get a crash log or a crash code?

is it possible for me to do just the stage 4 rewards first, to make all the other stages way easier with the stable spider legs?

I have not done the expedition yet, but you can try. Just keep in mind some things that are required may be part of previous phases rewards.
I suggest you do those easy ones first, then slowly filling up each phase. (Base on previous expeditions experience)
