Cyclotron is very effective against shields but does little damage to hull. I think it's meant to function as kind of EMP, it works well against energy shields and disables engines but can't really damage the ship itself

I had an old freighter - from when they first landed back in 2016. It didn't have a hyperdrive, becuase you had to add them yourself. I never cared about freighters really (still don't) but eventually after the freighter update they added hyperdrive so it comes with freighter and there was no longer a part to add, so when I went to upgrade my freighter, I could not -- it would never have a hyperdrive. So, I gave it up and got another.

Also, besides NMS' cross-save option, you can also "transfer" or copy your actual game file over from one platform to another if you play Xbox App PC (or if on Xbox and have GamePass Ultimate), via a save editor. You can ask about that in #nms-modding.
