Should be easy though, as their's usually scrap at the scrap centers lol

Yes actually! There are different types of frigates designed for different things like manufacturing elements, scanning planetary treasures, and more! Landing on them will allow you to collect them! Should a frigate take critical dmage from a fleet expedition, you'll also need to hop on one to repair it's damaged parts. Otherwise, it'll rsik blowing up and being destroyed forever.
