The damage potential stat isn't very informative since it goes up if you have multiple weapons. Even though you can only fire one of them at a time. 564 is great if you only have a single weapon system. Not entirely comparable to fighters but here's an example of fairly high stats on a corvette. As you may be able to tell I supercharged for manoeuverability rather than damage.

As many as you like. No real practical reason to have more than one once you've fully upgraded it though. Any one of them is strong enough to defeat everything in game. But you might find it cool to have more?

Non-corvettes have plenty of space in their tech inventory, though you only ever get 4 supercharged slots so you might not want to spread that out among different systems

Where would I find pulse engine upgrades? I've gone to different space stations and haven't found any.

There should be pulse engine upgrades at every single station, though only some of them will have S-class variants

But it will restock the SAME upgrades. So if a station doesn't have an s-class pulse engine upgrade, no amount of reloading will change that. Go to a different station instead.

watch out for rockets, they don't really have any upgrades for right now and they are weak against shielded targets. just play the photon until you get some time - but take upgrades as they come - once you can buy better upgrades, change your olds ones, never fight with flashing red tech, and try to fix damaged tech asap
