My main save did briefly own over a dozen shuttles, each for no more than 10 minutes, during the launch version of the game before the foundation update when the only way to upgrade ship slots was to keep finding new new ships with precisely 1 more slot than what you had. It was a really weird mechanic where crashed and NPC ship slots were based on how many slots your ship had and it was a 50% chance whether they had +1 or -1 slots. So you had to just replace your ship a lot of times to finally settle on one with max slots.

Combine that with the ability to hover they are good for scouting out stuff on a planet, only way a corvette compares is the hovering and able to leave the seat and scan/tag from the air.

You say that, but this just isn't true. You can upgrade corvettes so far beyond anything a regular ship can be upgraded. Corvettes are only chunky boys if you don't upgrade them properly.

There's only so much speed and agility you can get with the limited modules that regular ships have access to

You can augment it with parts and tech but standard ships can also be augmented, some have a higher base modifier

Part of the struggle with corvettes is that parts also tend to take up tech slots too

Sure, the ability to upgrade your ship with both reactors and thrusters does mean a severe lack of slots. A fully upgraded corvette really only has room for a single fully upgraded weapon system, for example. Non-corvettes can fit more. But then again you can only fire one weapon at a time anyway so that isn't a huge sacrifice.

No. But the corvette parts have their own separate 3-upgrade per type limit. For example for the pulse drive you end up with 14 different modules for a corvette. 3 of which don't share adjacency with the main system.

some basic starship weapon upgrades you can just install and craft from the menu, but the large majority of them you'll have to buy from space station technicians

upgrading ship class takes a pretty penny in nanites so that's more like a mid-game thing

if you can find a ship you like with a better class and more storage slots, then get it, although it'll take a lot of units (even if you exchange it for your current ship)

S is the reverse key? its a well established Strategy for early dogfights. i found later on boosting when not facing the station/freighter or other obstacles and reversing while facing them, pushes the battle away from said objects...

so you can steer the battle away from interference

I've tried to suggest to HG something so players can see underground fauna with the scanner above ground. You can see some flying ones from 400u+ from the ground, why not be able to see ones underground?

I've found more underground creature from above with scanner. The problem is, they seem to need certain biome areas to spawn, and you can have no idea about the terrain below. But you can find the caves with the cavy treasure markers, like humming sac.

I once spawned above the ceiling of an outlaw station and had to save edit myself back to the euclid

To add onto the response you got, using a infra knife weapon is the most efficient way of gathering corvette parts from your starship, however that is more of a thing to do once you get a basic corvette

With a good weapon (cyclotron ballista, infra-knife or photon cannon) and the right controls, you can look forward to looting about one new piece every 10-30 seconds by bombarding from the air.

With thousands of hours in the game, I have to say I agree with the frost effect though. It's pretty overbearing in storms. That's the point, but man it's a lot.

For me it heightens my enjoyment of my spaceship

I chart full planets. All fauna, and flora/minerals within reason. It's more obnoxious the constantly hop in and out of an exo than just dealing with the HUD effects lmao

That said, I absolutely recommend going into accessibility setting and adjusting just how intense the visuals are.

Lol, and yes, teasing Sentinels is fun too. If one enters a base (which make then nonhostile) I sometimes build a glass enclousre around it. As long as you don't leave, it acts like a goldfish bowl for the Sentinel 🤣 (If you leave and come back, it despawns...)

The secure factory ones were fun too since they deactivate once you interact with the terminal. So just run straight in and do that, then slip down a hall. Come back out and a couple might be inside just hovering inches away. Good way to get a close look at the detailing on them.

repair kits can make that easier, but they're not super easy to come by, necessarily

my advice is to just go to some outlaw stations and buy up all the tech and arms suspacks

and unwrap them, use the ones you want and sell the ones you dont

if you just unwrap and sell, its a lot of nanites

fastest time to get nanites in the game is that

costs about 1.5 million credits per run to buy up all the suspacks there

but youll get a few thousand nanites

everytime you visit an outlaw station, save it to your favorites, and if you build a sizable favorites list, you can visit multiple at once

and then just cycle through them buying suspacks and selling, and its about 100-300k per hour

if you are just doing it and nothing else

they replenish their stock of the sus tech quickly, and they sell repair kits which made it real easy to fix the S class Sentinel ship I ended up finding
