Atlas path is a little bit weird because it requires you to hit a certain number of milestones to progress each step. I generally know how to speed that up and get a bunch of them really fast but new players can be stuck with the Atlas path for a while. The Artemis path is more staight-forward where you can prioritize it and do it fairly quickly regardless but the Atlas path isn't like that...you have to know which milestones can be done quickly and some tricks to speed some up.

Cargo Scan Deflector is a tech blueprint you can buy from the anomaly, if you install it in your ship you can manually use it when you are being scanned by pirates and maybe sentinels(not sure if that works anymore) from the quick menu when you are being scanned...not guaranteed to work, it can fail but if you are quick you can trigger it two or three times during a scan and that will succeed almost all of the time.

Sentinel scans have a very distinct sound, you can't miss it...what I found weird is that I hear the sound of sentinels scanning me but my ship UI does not recognize I am being scanned. I had this happen several times as I've been farming freighter tech and cargo bulkheads. Not sure if that is intentional by HG so we can no longer use the cargo scan deflector(even though the whole point is it's pirate tech to evade sentinel scans) or if the proper scan only triggers when you have actual contraband in your inventory.

It's not a conversation option, you have to know to use it from the quick menu if you have it installed...and it's hidden pretty deep in the quick menu...all the way to the far left under the gear icon where you usually find options to switch ship view from 1st to 3rd person or to switch MTs...it's buried in there.

But if you fly in 1st person cockpit view you have access to the early warning system that lets you know when something is about to happen in regards to pirates or fugitives so you can generally be ready to trigger the deflector if you get a hostile scan...early warning doesn't work with sentinel scans though...those will just scan you out of nowhere.

Man, I remember when the only way to upgrade freighter slots was to keep buying new ones with +1 slot every time. I found a system that paid +95% for Albumen pearls and I refitted my entire base for maximum albumen pearl production...I legit grinded for 100+ hours to be able to afford enough new freighters to get to 48 slots lol. And that was the best way to make units back then.

I used to do this as preparation, gathering repair materials before going through galactic core. No extra ships to switch to empty ship and you couldn't just uninstall and package tech either. If you wanted to go through a galactic center everything was going to break and you had to repair it all. I had a lengthy list of repair materials to prepare before going through a galactic core lol.

The thing is; if you were to somehow convert a very old save file with some Omegon into a modern one, old ressources and items would just get converted into newer stuff, so I don‘t think there‘s any plans for that

Although personally, I don't use explorers as I think what they excel at are not that significant. I don't usually warp more than 1000 LY in any direction (most of the time less than 200), so fighters can serve that use fairly well, nevermind an interceptor, and the launch cost is fairly easy to offset in other ship types, not the biggest deal.

If I need to warp more than 1000 LY I just use my freighter, which has 5000 LY

Too much for me. Part of the process of planet hunting is scanning each planet. A mass scanner and looking in discovery tab sounds too automated.

Like why ship hunt? Just make a mod that scans all ships in a system and gives you a shopping list.

If it is at a Sentinel Pillar tower (look/point directly at the local POI icon and it should tell you) you can shutdown the whole planet's Sentinels there.
