nms is about upgrading your exosuit, multi tool and ship, or multitudes of multi tools and ships, getting a freigher, upgrading it, and then in a factorio way building up bases and stuff that get you materials you need faster and more conviently

When it comes down to it you are your own quest builder and quest giver. You set out on things you want to do and complete those tasks

It's a sandbox with rather little emergent gameplay, so you gotta make up your own goal, maybe try to rp and such. Once you are fully upgraded (which is going to take forever if we consider all the things that you can minmax in this game) it's really just about exploring, and finding that perfect planet, perhaps even a perfect system with your favorite race, economy, low conflict and cool planets. Even details like the color of the sky or space station interior can be taken into account.

You gotta make up your own goals eventually. Really, the gameplay loop is kinda similar to survival minecraft.

Yea, I've been playing over 9 years, and maybe that's why -- but I do not need the drama and restrictions in corvette building in the name of gameplay. It's hard enough to make a nice corvette with all parts available. I set crafting to FREE on my normal mode save when I go into the corvette garage for building. 100%

During Titan did see a landing pad base on the waterworld that was useful, but ran into issues on a different planet that I couldn't use the exocraft summoning pad.
At least the offending base had a sub thing in it I could use...

im a newish player trying to acquire a dreadnought. I saw a video on youtube saying that in the normal encounter, if you get anything but an S tier, leave then go back to reroll, but after leaving the first, im not getting a 2nd Dreadnaught encounter no matter what i do (warping to and from outlaw system from different other systems)

ive already done the requirements (have a freighter, warp 5 times or 3 hours played),

To get a dreadnought, you need to destroy the dreadnought’s hyperdrive boosters, and then either take out its artillery or its shields/fuel rods. They will then surrender and you can then board their ship to seize the dreadnought.

I think it was the modding community in Minecraft. In which modding is different on Minecraft rather than here, so much more different and it's amazing but both the people and the modders themselves I noticed became more and more toxic overtime. If you have the Conflict Scanner on your ship you just need to jump around to high conflict systems. I got my S Class in about 90 minutes that way. I tried the go away, come back thing and that was a failure for me as well, a full day of that with 1 battle every hour or so just farming the one system.

Remember that fighting is always optional; you can straight up run away from every enemy spawn in the main quest line and do a "pacifist run" if you really want. When you do fight, remember to never fight fair. You ability to screw with the terrain isn't as flexible as Minecraft, but you NEVER have to fight on a flat, open palin if you don't want to.

The exosuit upgrade terminals in space stations, or drop pods you find on planet side, which can rarely happen, but most frequently found by using drop pod maps sold by the cartographer downstairs in the space station

You can find drop pods on planet surfaces where you can repair and reclaim inventory slot upgrades for free, or buy them from a space station's exosuit merchant (they only ever stock 1 per station)

Crossing solar systems via pulse drive would take years, which is why you can only cross systems at the galaxy map by firing up your antimatter drive. Follow the early missions and you'll get a super easy source of antimatter, you'd think the stuff would be kind of hard to get given how volatile it is...
