Ohhh, sorry. You mean the powered Mineral Extractor for hotspots (as opposed to the fueled Autonomous Mining Unit for resource blobs). Lol you used the right term, I just misinterpreted generically. You can unlock it from the Construction Research Station in the Nexus Anomaly for 10 Salvaged Data. Note you also need to be able to find hotspots (a scanner upgrade) and will need to power it with appropriate base parts (generators, solar arrays/batteries, or EMGs) all of which can also be learned in the Nexus Anomaly.

For mineral/gas extractors, I find the resource hotspot first and mark it with a Save Beacon, then find the closest EMG hotspot, and place a base computer midway. Though optimally I will look for a Trading Post as the base, it is just requires there be a resource hotspot and an EMG hotspot in max base range (1000u radius) so I can build the depots right next to the trade terminal and sell the accumulation efficiently.

yup, that's my general tactic - I'll mark with the picket, then drop a save beacon on that, then repeat for the other two, and use those save beacon markers so I can triangulate distance and find a nice base spot central-ish to all three

I use the scanner beacon because I can find exactly where the hotspot is, then while still in scanner deploy that so I can set up the save beacon on the hot spot

I like to be precise on where that juicy spot is

My first ever Activated Indium base was on a triple-X planet (Extreme cold weather, Extreme Sentinels, and three species of red paw fauna that hunted in packs. Wheeee! That took some time but was so much fun. (I had to build construction shacks for hideouts from weather, sentinels, and fauna, and did Short Range Teleporter "corridors" via the construction shacks to the respective hotspots, then relaying the extracted AI to depots at a central Trading Post base.) Lol, and then HG nerfed stacked extractors, and I had to rebuild it to work around that 😉

I think that was the first time I ever maxed out on units.

Animal types are procedurally generated, so including all the variations likely millions of distinct types (though of course grouped into the overlying categories), and each of those types can generate large numbers on the planet over time, times the number of planets... so, "many". 😉

The easiest way I find are:

Install a cloaking device on your multi tool, if you aggro a sentinel and it's level 1, activate cloak immediately, they will deaggro before the cloak runs out

If it is a planet you will stay for a while and is not dissonant, kill everything up to and including the walker, it will deactivate sentinels completely for a while

If it is a planet you will frequently visit and stay, or it's a dissonant planet, use a map to find sentinel tower, make a base there, and deactivate it, and repeat the process every time you want to visit that planet

Running into shelter or away is if none of these methods are possible, but cloak is one of the most reliable and convenient way to get away from accidental aggroed sentinels

Don't forget you can't see your own bases uploaded from other save files too. (Only the bases in your current save file will ever be visible: uploading only makes them visible to other players, and at that, only one per planet per player. You can have multiple bases on a planet, but only the last uploaded per planet is ever visible to other players (unless they are in a group with you as the group leader)).

But you CAN change the settings for where power goes on your ship while in flight. If you need more engine power,, then select it. On a controller its the up down left and right buttons (up changes where power is routed to)
