It throws me off a bit that the game's been around for so long and has the userbase it has, but nobody's really messed around with reverse engineering it. modders only touch the data. Our knowlege comes from observations in game instead of ghidra

any magic numbers that are part of the procedure would be in the game's binary, and loaded into process memory when it runs. They're not really a roadblock. Reverse engineering compiled code into something that can be generally understood is far more difficult, but it's been done before for a lot of games with long lives and dedicated, technically inclined fanbases.

You'd need to know the magic numbers if you wanted to reverse engineer the proc-gen system from the data that it's generating, certainly. but if you just pop the hood and look at the math it's not so much required, or rather you'll just see them.

I'm saying you don't need math to reverse the game, at least not the math you're saying it does, you need reverse engineering experience which is a very specialised skill set. I'm not going to try because I don't have that skill set. The people you know who've tried probably don't either if that's what they told you about it. It's not the same as being techy or smart or even being a programmer, so I'm not dissing your friends. But some people do have that skill, and sometimes they use their skill on the games they love. It just hasn't happened here yet, which surprises me just a bit due to the audience.

It's pretty easy to get one early in game. You can either spend about 8 million on the parts or collect them from salvage scrap loot points.

You just need one hab, cockpit, weapon, access point, reactor and landing gear. Then just head to the space station and build it. Collect more parts to expand it.

There are currently expedition reduxes happening so if you want to start a new save you can keep your Starborn Phoenix

Start an expedition with the save you want to get rid of. Make sure you have your starborn Phoenix as your main ship. Copy that into expedition and complete the expedition fully.

Then start a new save game. Once you get to the anomaly you'll have access to the expedition terminal. You can claim your Phoenix from there on your new save.

It sounds like a bit of a process but it's really not. I would definitely do it to keep that ship

No. Once you start the expedition it's locked in. You can't add any new items to it

Whenever you change a part on a Corvette and rename it the system considers it a completely different and new corvette. So if you change something in expedition and bring it into your main save it'll give you a new one of that.

But you can go further. Once you claim your Corvette and the expedition terminal you can change another part on it and rename it again. And since it's a new ship at that point you can go claim your original Corvette from the terminal again. Rinse and repeat as many times as you want

Hg usually only blocks plot required things (and companion eggs) from transferring, but if a separate expedition save is already complete, then what's being transferred isnt plot required anymore

Hasn't stopped them before...the Myth Beacon in the recent Beachhead redux wasn't transferable even after completing the expedition...we can even buy it on the main save but it was still blocked from being transferred to main save after expedition was finished.

Apparently you can initialize the expedition on the polestar save, and supply the singularity engines when initializing. Then you complete the expedition, put back the things in the terminal to return, and grab them from the terminal in a different save

Both have it's pros and cons, the biggest con of pulse spitter is that it consumes ammo a lot, not exactly a big deal if you are swimming in ferrite dust, but the clip size is a bit small for it's fire rate

And the reload button is.. a bit unreliable at times

I wanted neutron to work at least for the derelict freighters, those infested nests are much easier to deal with with a neutron cannon, one shot and the entire nest dies, but soon after I found systems whose derelict freighter has no nests...

also this might sounds weird but I wish some fauna would "fake you out" like they would initially show as non-hostile, but they become hostile based on certain variables, for example maybe some get hostile if you're close to them and nothing else is... maybe some get hostile if you mine/collect a resource nearby they don't want you to, maybe some become hostile only at night, maybe some become hostile if you linger for too long... etc

Yeah, herd animals that are otherwise peaceful should sometimes attack you if you get to close

Not easy, but you can eliminate the planet fairly easily, if you see sac venoms or Metal fingers, you can leave that planet

Though I personally choose highly radioactive planets because the radiation storm increases mould output fairly significantly

This did not work. I did the expedition from one save, completed it, the stuff I put in the terminal was there for the main save I started the expedition from butt it was not there for any other save. Going to the terminal from another save just asked if I wanted to putt things in to send to the expedition and all slots were empty.

Try to make your multi-tool good for close range combat (I use scatter blaster). Then: Shoot, run, hide, shoot, run, hide, repeat ^.^; Depending on how good your weapon is.
