Your best bet is finding a small planet or Moon with salvage scrap in its label when you scan it

The salvage scrap will give you Corvette parts. They're yellow icons with a radio signal looking pic on them when looking through scanner

You need the essentials for your first. Cockpit, access ramp/Bay, reactor, weapon, landing platform and a hab.

Once you have a basic Corvette it makes it really easy to farm pieces. Because you can just autopilot hover over the planet and shoot them from the sky as you find them

Put a hab under the wings and then attach a weapon to its top. This will mesh the weapon into the wing and simulate it firing when the weapon fires.

Even after you remove the hab the weapon will remain in place

It usually happens when a lot of assets are loaded at the same time

If you do it correctly you can do both (if referring to expedition rewards)

well I just learned something about corvette parts, when you run out of room, it goes to the next ship on your list of possible ships to spawn

for example you use like 40 parts to make a corvette, then you don't end up using them and you only have 10 available space, it will refund to your next ship on the spawn list

Some people find them on their freighters, in a different Corvette or in a random storage container
