It depends on the ship hyperdrive bonus...an S class explorer with +120% bonus to hyperdrive means that that +50 becomes +110ly. Plus I always install it on all my ships...more worth than adding more useless ship trails for useless maneuverability padding.

I disagree...I'll usually install them along with one trail. I have no problem putting in the bobble-heads on non-corvette ships beecause I don't end up using all 60 slots anyway. But on a corvette where the slots are far tighter with more corvette tech taking space...priority for me is always Atlas and null for hyperdrive and shields...always. With a slot to spare I'd rather have one trail for style. At maneuverability of 1490+ I don't see more maneuverability a a priority.

That's a total non issue for me because I upgraded my corvette to S class and max 120+60 slots before I added most corvette tech. I needed to make sure there was enough space for all the tech I wanted...which just barely all ended up fitting.

That's because all the corvette parts have stat rolls seeded per save...the corvette parts have different stats on different saves and your expedition save is technically separate from your main save even if they are linked. So some things will get worse and others will get better.

It doesn't appear in the description, but in the stats you see to the right. If you get all your hyperdrive tech in contact with each other, you'll see the hyperdrive range increase significantly, for example
