I had a couple spares in storage and put them in a freighter storage container and the freighter was in another system so that storage should have been unreachable but still every single encounter in space would always only be an NPC living ship asking for a void egg. They were essentially blocking my ability to have any other encounters in space. I had to delete them to be able to see other encounters in space.

That can happen lol...you are more exposed and vulnerable in an expedition because you don't have all of your suit upgrades. My main save character hasn't died in thousands of hours except the couple of times I deliberately tested to see if my plasma launcher can still kill me after HG claimed to have reduced its damage to the player by 90% and I have max shields with 9x +34% shielding modules....lolololol. I still like the plasma launcher and main it as my secondary weapon, just need to be mindful of where I fire it and make sure it doesn't bounce back in my face. Nothing else in the game can kill my main save character.
