There are sometimes fleets in abandoned systems and very rarely occasionally NPC ships

In the abandoned expedition I swear I saw fleets of ships

I played ED on pc but switched over after 100 hours to play nms on ps4.

Can't say I blame you. NMS just has a really good vibe and exploration feels actually fun compared to ED just making you scan excessively to find a cool rock.

Exploration in nms feels a lot better, the exocrafts vs the scarab srv and even other on foot stuff. NMS is way better in that regard then ED: odyssey

I didnt even get to try odyssey bc the devs just bailed out. When my friend told me NMS dropped an update where u can design ur own ship I was rlly interested. Since I started playing ive been playing 12 hours a day 😳

Combat in ED does feel slightly better, but it's way more complex in ED , same way exploration is more complex and fun in NMS.

The only things that ED might do better is the flight mechanic when entering planets and the sound design and visuals when capital ships enter a system. But apart from that, NMS is honestly superior in every other way.

My friend helped me get a pirate freighter and I recruited 30 ships. Don't think i'll ever get bored of seeing that gigantic thing above me on a planet and thinking "wow thats mine" 😆

I've been having a lot of fun ( and some frustration) with the corvette building, but thats mainly build mode being finicky and me not able to make better large corvettes ( I'm better at smaller ones , but would love to have a proper large corvette).

I think both of my corvettes are quite large tbh. The unfortunate thing I noticed with corvettes is they are extremely limiting on space. Would like to see the part complexity increased. Had to scrap 6 initial designs due to the limit

I get that as well, most things are more impressive and complex in terms of sound but with entering a planet it lacks the most in my opinion. Coming back on another thing you mentioned the flight model is better in ED overall. But the one in nms, I feel just works for nms ( using one similar to ED wouldn't be that much better).

Ah I think i should clarify on the flight model thing. It wasn't so much that I think ED's flight system overall is better. I meant the specific procedure to enter a planet, such as the sub orbital glide, maintaining a decent trajectory. The added complexity is something I enjoy. I do also enjoy being able to instantly enter into an atmosphere and boost to the surface in NMS though 😆

Valid point, in that regard a hybrid system might work ( adding in a decent glide path in nms rather than flying nose down right to the surface only to pitch up right above the surface).

I have a bit of a problem of philosphical variety. What do I do next? All the missions are complete, settlement is booming and supporting my freighter business, i have farms, animals, mines. My Corvette is how I always wanted (mix of FTL Kestrel and Eagle from Starsector). What to do next? I feel like I explored everything already. Even did some piracy against Korvax. Should I build a bigger corvette? Collect the exotic spaceships? Build a grand castle? What do You people do to have 1000s of hours in?

You can, but sadly they all look identical and you can't even mutate or color them in the egg sequencer either. So it kinda sucks we can't have more unique ones.

There's lots to do, get and upgrade more ships and multitools, work on upgrading your freighter or frigate fleet, kit your exocraft, look at the player titles you could be unlocking, set up stasis device farms which work to earn units in mass and have the side benefit of automating loads of the resources in the game, etc.

I've got 7700 hours in and at the moment I'm re-rolling X class modules I don't have maxed for better stats lol.

Yeah, farms, mines and raiding of outposts on my bike yields me those items too, i have more money than needed. I just wish there was no end to the story or maybe some pvp element.

You only say you have more units than you need because you don't know how much it costs to upgrade a ship to 100+ cargo slots and 60 tech slots lmao...you can very easily blow 4 billion in literally 2 minutes. You could also buy and scrap ships for slots you can install but that still costs a couple billions and takes more time so might as well go all the way.

I don't keep ships at less than S class and max slots lol. And that's usually just the start of it as ships have to be kitted with a lot of good tech.

Starborn Phoenix is a really crappy exotic, even worse than the Starborn Runner, which is not a good exotic either. I think the only reason HG made it exclusive to Steam was to incentivize players who owned the game on console to buy it on PC so they could get the ship on their main save via save transfer shenanigans...so it they're to continue that trend they might add another crappy ship or something exclusive to another platfrorm...probably PlayStation this time.

And that is on Linux, there's some kind of bug causing the shader cache to show as update each time you launch Steam

I kinda doubt they'll be able to do corvettes on Switch 1. The game is already past the version number that would have been Voyagers and missed two corvette expeditions. At this point if you are able to I suggest moving to a different platform. It's unclear how much more content the Switch 1 will get in the future...it might have reached the end of what the hardware can handle.

I always play in cockpit view, the interior doesn't bother me. They are bad ships, lack too much tech but I like to have one that is as maxed as a living ship can be in my ship lineup. We do have twelve ship slots. And they do have the special "alien" hidden trait...right now all it does is it makes it so only living ships can find the "Void Egg" encounter when pulsing in space for their upgrades but their functionality might be expanded at some point, maybe they get better tech or something...at least some better weapons lol.

And the Wraith has about 1% higher damage than is possible to roll on living ships in game. The hyperdrive bonus is bellow what's possible on living ships in game but I mean better damage and shields than possible on natural spawns is a huge deal.

Noo...not at all. Exotics have excellent stat bonuses in everything...not the best at anything but very solid. They have the second best damage bonus behind fighters with a higher shield bonus than fighters. And sentinels have less damage than fighters but still excellent and the same shield bonus as fighters.

If the genre wasn't completely overplayed this game was always primed for a battle royale mode. Everybody just gets thrown from orbit onto a large area of the planet looting whatever weapons and Tech mods they can get. While extreme storms push everybody to the middle.

The reason you caught colossus legendaries in shallow water is probably because gas giant. Gas giants can't have water sufficiently deep for large and colossus fish to spawn normally so there had to be some special rules set there to make those fish catchable.

It's timed to the game's servers and event system. There's no way to manipulate expedition time to increase it or lengthen it out.

But there is a mod you can use to be able to replay old expeditions.

Quite a few players use it so they can access the ones they've missed. So ask them about it and they'll be able to tell you where to download it

I love NMS but I'm not sure about the expeditions I only do them to get the awards but they are kinda fun I guess

It's an interesting way to start the game from fresh. But I like to buildup on main save

But one of the main points of expeditions is to test new features while giving players exclusive rewards as payment for that testing.

If you want to trade a ship with somebody you both join each other's multiplayer game. Meet at a space station and sell the ship to an npc. The other player then buys the ship from the NPC.

The first player then reloads their game. The ship goes back in their inventory. Now both players have the ship

I've always traded my corvette to an npc, then salvaged the npc ship when I want to copy my Corvette
