How many galaxies are there?
Just different distributions of each
Not sure though
Damn
Retired my older corvette, the Meridian today and released this one.. The Meridian-A. Built from the ground up this intrepid class vessel has more engines. a bit more firepower and still tiny space 🙂 ahh proud space papa.
there is Normal, Harsh, Lush and Dead galaxies.
Normal is like Euclid, Harsh is more planets with extreme storms
Lush has more paradise worlds.
Dead has more dead worlds (and therefore more exotic worlds)
Hi guys!
There are beautiful captures in #nms-photomode-gallery needing more love!
They only make it to #the-louvre if they have enough heart reactions.

more info
When we say more, do we mean significantly more? I’m not sure we’ll really feel/see the difference give the amount of planets per galaxy
it is noticeable
Well I hope they expand on it just a tad more...
There should be some form of incentive to go ahead and after finishing the story still travel between galaxies I guess
But then again I’m not sure how much they CAN really do in that regard
It's noticeable enough that if you are looking for a certain kind of planet, especially if you want to get picky about it, that you'll have a much better chance in doing that in the appropriate galaxy
the quest to find a paradise small moon to open up a nice animal farm continues!
I must admit I did not know that, cool for picky planet travellers I guess
if you are like captain there, and looking for a perfect paradise small moon, a lush galaxy is the best bet
or the way way around if you want to be a masochist, try hunting for a an earth-like in a Harsh or Dead galaxy
it's not to say you can't find it in a normal galaxy, it's just easier in a lush galaxy to find it
the probability is higher and more stacked in your favor
oh did Mitey forget to mention.. it will be a purple system? must have the new mechanics. mmhmm.
yeahhh some of us just picky.
Feels like a lotta folks are picky
Almost everyone I see in chat is looking for the perfect planet
sometimes indeed. Different folks have different goals.
Meanwhile I’m over here slapping down a dozen different bases cuz “planet cool”
heheh and as long as you find it cool thats all that matters!
just depends on what stage of the game you are at, if you ever get at all the stages of the game before you quit
you may not
quit. silly talk.
Mitey no quits! 🙂
Other than exploration and discovery, this game is strongly focused on collecting as rewards.
Finding a gaia planet is the holy grail collectible.
We won’t ever find the perfect planet….
Maybe the perfect planet was the friends we made along the way, the races we met, the stories we uncovered
No NMS players quits! They jsut go…….

some people just play the story and do the missions and expeditions and that's all they ever do
that's whatI do
I just came back a few weeks ago after a year off
came back to a lot of updates too, it was like playing the game from the start again, it was a nice feeling
those are also the people that don't realize that a good captain will MAKE tasks of their own and go and do them 🙂
Yup that’s why we praise hello games
the moment where I feel like Im just doing the dailies and logging, I take a break from the game
Feel like people who do that sorta miss the whole purpose of the game as a whole really
Kids these days never played with GI joes or army men or tonka toys.
Amen sir. Amen!
Or even played with LEGO and creating their own stories
true, but people have their own play style and that's ok... some people need a themepark, some people like a sandbox.
tonka toys were the shit
I loved those
(Yes I was and still am a LEGO guy)
heck the sandbox can BE a themepark 🙂 even after all these years Mitey still refining his basebuilding methodology and construction
turnin out some snazzy things. Evolution I tell you!
Yeah I suppose
This is why games advertise themselves as sandboxes for the marketing. But they end up being an RPG because that's what sells
A good game can be both
I really need to start making my bases look like bases. Mostly I just deploy a base computer and that’s it
Same here
But then again I’m not good at making stuff look good
I have the same problem in KSP
I’ll make it work sure
I have so many base building stuff to unlock
thats.. it? NOOOO!
Just fuck around and find out
Always works
oh my god. thats it? just a computer and.. oh my god/ Mitey must seek medical attention. He gimme trauma!
I know… it’s sad
Good practice for making stuff look good is fashion in an MMORPG
Mitey come help you fix your things my god! just a computer isn't right!
Least a 1x1 box
i can't do mmorpgs anymore, just the payment plans, the locking cosmetcs behind cash shops, being mainly for pve, etc... used to be good, now it's just ugh
Only MMORPG I come back to every now and then is Guild Wars 2
Well I mean an MMORPG is literally a PvE game
it used to be that when you saw someone wearing something cool, it's because they earned it
now it's just not the case anymore
Last time a player told me they needed help with creating a beach house.. Mitey helped make this
Warframe fashion can always be earned
see. style baby. mmhmm
Beautiful.
Im glad NMS still has this mentality with cosmetics tbh
Cuz the “paid” currency can be traded for without paying a dime
Admittedly
it's not the point, the point is if it can be bought, it's worthless to me
its immersion breaking
the sense of accomplishment is gone
thank you! So see. we fix'em ups! 🙂 @rapid orbit will has hoouuuse 🙂
I mean technically fashion is bought
Fair nuff
Nonetheless, good fashion in MMORPGs still takes skill to make look good even if it’s bought
im the kind of guy that nevers buy cosmetics in a game because, if you can't only get it from earning it, it's not worth having in the first place
Im right there with you
You gotta play with the base building, experiment, discover and learn techniques to 'break out of the box' so to speak.
It's tough to make a good base with just the normal NMS base-building mechanics and parts. It generally looks generic or looks like ass.
You kinda gotta be inventive. when you play around, you learn how to utilize things like the triangle parts to break away from the square feels of the build, or to make circles and stuff.
The best stuff is done with glitch building but its a PITA most of the time.
Mitey patiently waits for @rapid orbit to get into the right headspace and feel the base building bug to turn his computers into malibu worthy real estate :knits socks in meantime::
theres a drop pod 30 min away on my planet, is it ever faster to leave orbit to travel farther distances quicker on a planet?
Yes
Always faster
is there any use for the HistoriogrphicalDosimeter after Beachhead, other than a keepsake to stick in a crate somewhere?
Cuz then you can pulse drive
thanks
Oh god I can hardly build anything with the normal stuff, and you’re talking about glitch building.
I’ve got a long journey ahead of me it seems
You can collect the lore
As I said earlier, fuck around and find out
it is usually much faster to arc into orbit instead of travelling lond distance through the atmosphere.
Best way to get a feel for base building
i just want to buy a game, and have a full game... and be able to only be able to earn the items in the game through the game period. I can do buy game, buy dlc, heck Im even willing to pay a sub... but a cash shop that sells things I can have in game just makes me not want to play it at all
Mitey gonna ask. Can you make a box?
Ngl theres basically one main thing you gotta learn for building, which is UAG. That said, you can still make cool things with the power of sheer stubbornness
Buying and getting a full game is in very short supply these days
I will not disappoint
which is why Im wililng to budge on buying dlc, or paying a sub too, but that's where my line ends
I honestly only get DLC if it adds any meaningful additions to the game
Oh yes, the bare minimum im able to do (had to do the boxes in the expeditions)
Aww, I forgot to actually say universal adjacency glitch
i bought necesse recently, loved it, got it for my kids too
I do wanna get that eventually
I played the free weekend and loved it
its great recommend it
It reminded me of a top down terraria
yup and it has npc management like rimworld
I think of it like terraria and rimworld combined
so you dont have to grind if you dont want to
Will do for sure
see then you are all set! thats where we all start. you make a box. then a bigger box. then boxes that interset! Then...
2 of the greatest games in history in one game
its the perfect game where you grind at first, and then let your npc's manage the grind for you so you can just have fun
that is actually several glitches combined, but yeah, if you learn UAG, then you basically know glitch building.
It is?
i think nms or their new game should do something like that too
Oh I guess so
things where you unload grind onto automation and npcs
i think hello games needs to implement that more
Always helpful when a game lets you automate the grind
How many of you knew the trick to getting to a portal within approx 5k of the center?
Yes, wire glitch, wire cache glitch and reverse wire glitch
Think spam first portal glyph?
Yeah
i did
Ehh, I'm not sure how well that would fit in lnf, mostly because I'm hoping it incentivizes the creation of player communities/civilizations
More automation is definitely needed
I want more factorio in my games dammit
I absolutely want more automation in nms
I think they want their game. Not some one elses.
example, you grind at first, you get your own base with your npcs in it... and they start to get the things you used to get for you so you can focus on getting the new things... then as you hit the next plateau, you unload that on your npcs and automation again and then grind for the next plateau
I don’t care if it’s spreadsheet simulator, it’s worth it
To incentivize player civilizations through gameplay, you have to make it so players can choose what they want to do without also being able to do literally everything on their own
absolutely
All sunsets only gets you within about 10k
replace the last sunset with the Atlas glyph
if someone wants to chop down trees, let them, don't make it a requirementto make npcs do it
but at the same time, let them be able to unload that task if they want too
I mean there’s already some form of automation…if it fits into the nms universe lore wise, it can be hello games‘ idea not someone else’s
Automation tends to let you do everything on your own, which makes for barebones player civs
I feel like conveyor belts and whatnot would fit fine in NMS
nms definately does make grind easier in some ways, but it's 2025 now, and the game came out about 10 years ago, I think they did great for back then, i think they just need to step it up a bit for 2025 for their new game
either way im getting it
its just an observation and opinon of mine
right
NMS could never handle it.
i can totally get them not doing it for nms
and that makes sense
but i think for their new game, they should
Agreed.
I would too if I didn’t have like 50 other games on my list…..
I'd want the output of player cooperation in lnf to produce more than automation would
or be different
It's like I have a mission to get to the last galaxy now that I've found at the trick.
I think that might be the case
one way or the other
when it comes out.. we will see how it goes.
i think teaming up should have more benefits, but it doesn't necessarily have to be better than automation or npcs, but maybe makes what you are alreadydoing better
for now tho.. this moon is stil hiding from me
so maybe working in congruence with it
Like, obviously everyone in lnf would do the typical survival elements, but youd need to specialize in some form to do more advanced or higher quality things
definitely
like maybe limit things in certain ways to force you to need other people to do things
like time grind helps
like maybe if you played for 10 years you get all the life skills, but maybe at the start working with people makes you take advantage of people with different skills
And that could tie into my hope for the distant regions of the lnf world to have unique resources or at least a genuine reason to either settle there or interact with players over long distances
I have to ask. Why are you guys speculating on Light No Fire?
Im not against automation, but it should be implemented in a way where people won’t just have 100 farms with unlimited recourse spawning.
I think that’s a huge problem some games have nowadays
not speculating just offering what I would want with it
but its not a game breaker either way, im getting it
MP is fine if it's p2p among friends or private groups. MMO generally sucks.
I mean... it'll probably be mmo in the same way that nms is
I am just throwin this out there #light-no-fire
im the opposite, I like the idea that I can go back to a spot in a game that I originally sucked at, and be able to just destroy and wreck things. I like the sense of hard work and accomplishment
not that this conversation isn't stimulating. just that usually in this channel we talk about THIS game. heh.
I like the ability to remove grind
i definitely want to grind first, but I like to be rewarded for my grind with less grind on beginner stuff, and move on to the next stage if that makes sense
too busy staring at a portal like it's a phenakistoscope
I also get that, I just want it balanced out where people still have the incentive and interest to go out there and work and participate and not be the “leviathan“
True
do you do the head spinning thing as the pretty lights swirl too? Mitey does that sometimes
I should probably actually watch the video that made me consider the reasons why player civs in open world survival crafting games tend to be kinda boring or surface level
It talked about a skill system i vaguely remember, but where the skills leveled up simply by just doing the thing, but focusing on one skill would result in the others lowering (at a slower pace) so it actually is like youre practicing and getting good at something
yeah life skilling
And also allows for flexibility in what youd be doing
Sounds like RuneScape type of system
you can set a grind where it would take someone 10 years or something to get all the skills, so they aren't limited by choice at the beginning, but rather by what they choose to do
exactly
I wonder if the portal spins really fast or if it's spinning slowly but the glyph textures are changing fast
or eve online does that too, but with time
rather than active participation on the skill
I will just throw something out there with almost no thought given
Dang, if I played runescape I'd have had a good comparison ready, lol
Or it’s cause they’re not real, people don’t HAVE to survive, they don’t have to suffer, they don’t have to work together
Nah you’re the one that’s spinning
Oh yea space capitalism sim
I mean, thats a part of it, ofc, but its also not incentivized via gameplay. Games like nms or Minecraft or even ones that seem to have specializations in place like Ark can have everything be done on your own, without any real need to cooperate with others
the glyphs look like they're spinning fast but the lines between them aren't. I might have to record it and slow it down a lot to tell idk
but games like that where you have monthly wipes and it's played like rust, it helps to work together becauses you get what you need faster to compete with opposing factions
so there's a time incentive to work together
I guess it’s just up to the devs really
"the glyphs look like they're spinning fast but the lines between them aren't"
When that nip nip hits just right
But theres still ways to incentivize cooperation without such a time limit, especially since that sort of enforcement basically encourages ganging up on weaker players
right, i dont think the new game will be like that
it will be more about coop vs pvp
I dont either
That's Rust, Ark, GTA and most others
i think if the pve is good, you don't need to be competitive as much
Right. Mitey gonna go for a bit.. because Mitey didn't come in here to talk about the development of games or what Light No Fire will be like...
when everyone's on nip, no one is
Wise words
It's better when the game rewards your progression and your team for finding new players and helping them build up. Becoming stronger.
Not smashing the weak people as soon as they come in to make sure you stay on top
If you run on nip for all you got my vote
I mainly brought up the subject since it applies to nms as well
yeah
Though incentivizing joining a player civ doesnt really make sense for the type of game nms is
i think it can
yup
tbh yeah
NMS is very much a "Thug it out alone" type game
for example we are in discord, we could decide to pick a planet or a system in a specific galaxy, and just build a community there
But that was never the vision for no mans sky to begin with
some people already do that
Isn't that how this discord came to be?
we did. there's a hub for this discord
The devs…. They did not
A real motivation for player cooperation in nms is if we could make a dang MAP of the place
I think of it like that too, but the story's different when there's a noticeable amount of people that share the same niche interest as me
he did not say devs. he said players 🙂
personally I'd like to map out the fade in odyalutai
I'd love to be a part of something like that. Maybe towards the center of the galaxy just to weed out trolls that just started?
center of the galaxy is where most people are sir. you wanna start out on the edge off the beaten path
I was talking about the devs though… the core vision the game was built with essentially decided if an ingame civ can really work or not….
this is roughly where Im at
there is lots
ah, settlements. why do I have the option to fine someone who said something weird to another dude's spouse? this feels like none of my business
its called civil court 🙂
Their arguing was annoying the neighbors
Expel them both for wasting your time (real)
Yeah but they'll have completed the journey there, so it weeds out those who just wanted to get in and start trolling
@grizzled ice Please talk to me IDK what is going on?>?
so usually you start about 2/3s out from the galactic center, everyone moves inward, but no one moves outward
but you are gonna run the risk that newer and more annoying trolls are gonna make their way into the center at a later time
Most of them don't turn around and head outwards
Nah, the people who dont want to hang around others turn move outwards
exactly, that's what I mean
how many people move a bit upwards or downwards
The real secret is moving vertically
so avoid the people who troll, and group with people who don't, and move outward
That's true, but with the center of the galaxy you have a waypoint there and have to do the journey, other places you have to use glyps and travel instantly, no?
tbh i did both lol
im like down and out
lol
That way you can still be close to other players for recruitment and interaction, but also have plenty of space
yeah i still have close to center bases for that
Of course, the core regions will still be rather dense above and below
the center of the galaxy you are too close to jumping the galactic core. a bit hard to do the other missions that require you to TRAVEL if you are going away from the center when you're already there
but my stuff I like and that I hide, are not nearby
exactly. planet I'm trying to get a bunch of people on isn't exactly next to my stuff. it's halfway across the galaxy
Anyway y'all wanna hop on DC and do that settlement thing? I'd love to
but in a way the easiest way to recruit isns't even in game, it's through here, or other game discords you have
and you can just join sessions
You know, I’d really love to see a player controlled faction system. It’s a pretty unique and game changing idea, and it could naturally lead to things like alliances, wars, and shifting power dynamics.
Tbh I’m not completely sure how well it would work in practice, but looking at how Elite Dangerous handles its political and faction systems might offer some good inspiration
DC?
I don't have the glyphs though so that might be a bit of an issue...
Nms players are really territorial, lol
Discord
I have an entire undiscovered region that is only 6.5k ly from the core
you are already ON discord..
for sure, when i invite someone towards one of my bases,it's one I've written off
Yes, but not on voice chat which is what I meant
lol
most people are like, man you got nothing for bases man, and I'm like... sure... lol
im not showing you my good stuff bro
lol
I see. Voice channels are a bit down below but I am sure there's some folks in there that may wana try and uh.. settle a planet or whatever it is you had in mind sir
as much as I'd want to blatantly recruit, that's not something you can do here, or people would be doing it a lot more to everyone's dismay. to me, it's a mix of finding people and finding the right people
then Mitey gonna show you HIS good stuff OH YEAH 🙂
Lmao I have a bunch of systems just named „ottoman control/territory“
Im expanding
actually that's a good idea
people would actually understand your sphere of influence from something like that
Yeah, I know I can be...
I avoid putting bases in dissonant systems where I shared an address for an interceptor with one exception when I did.
And that one is pretty close to the portal
or if you do put a base, its just a teleport here to get to it, not to actually have anything there
habitation vs anti-sentinel, but the options are farming vs "additional facilities". what the hell man
How do I go about getting different ships? Other than the corvette
Buying them is an option
Just collectors for pyrite and sulphrine gas
find them, buy them, build them etc
Oh I definitely include myself in that statement, lol. Even in lnf theres a strong chance I become a dragon-taming hermit living in a mountain lair
you can look for distressed/crashed ships and repair them as wel.
exactly, typically i try not to waste a base spot on no minerals and gases when i can unless I honestly just like the look of the area
Im positive we’ll have wars over territory in LNF
i did just recently today built a base on a lake in a mountain valley, no mineral or gases there
just did it because its a cool looking area
id even recommend just scrapping them and selling them and saving up to buy a ship you want too, less work than fixing em up
but lots of options
Believe it or not I’ve yet to land on a gas giant
My main base had to expand it to hit one hotspot, have another that isn't by anything but its more of a remote depot in an uncharted system.
Can you build Bases on them?
theres a mission where you get to do it I think if I remember right
i wont speak anymore about it
they have ground because it's that kind of game
I don't see much sense in it myself but eh
Sure but I only watched the trailer, they seem extreme, looks like you need a special suit too to walk on them.
Nah
How many bases can you have?
Normal suit is fine
Need your environmental protection upgraded
Think I landed on a couple during breach
you can deploy 400 base computers
i can't remember its like 400
It’s a pretty high number iirc
ok cool I remembered
That's a lot of bases
Oh so it was a cosmetic then
20,000 parts total for all bases
For a normal person yes, for an NMS player nah
its not the amount of bases you need to worry about, its how many base parts you can add in all
and it counts for all your bases
Most likely
The suits don’t actually do anything
It’s all about the tech your packing
Was it the trailer for Worlds Part 2?
just make sure once you find the system with the gas giant, put a base down
immediately
Well that was neat
that's just a minotaur
No
I decided to do some giant system exploring and warped to one that immediately had an exotic in my freighter
Oh there's a part limit for bases? That kinda sucks
nice
Oh yea the armor is cosmetic
Wait 20k for all 400? So 50 per base? That seems a little, small?
I recruited it to my squadron, even the pilot is s class, so now I have an s class pilot from each of the 3 main species
if you imagine, most bases are just to drop down like a mineral extractor or gas extractor
Would’ve been cool if you’d have to wear certain things to walk on them
few bases are for actually building something nice
That would honestly be too much of a pain to deal with
Yeah but isn't 50 kind of low for building something nice?
It’d be tedious for sure
(I’d still love it)
The general max is 20k
you can have 400 base computers (claimed bases)
you cannot build a base at every location.
each base has a part limit of 3000 parts, only if you want to upload the base to make it public.
You can have 1 base with 20,000 parts, or many smaller ones.
well like I said you don't even use 50 to put down a mineral/gas extractor set up
what do you need all 400 for? there's only 256 galaxies to throw a portal base in
you use like 10-20 if that
You can easily have 10k parts on one base and the others have smaller setups
Tbh I bet most bases are created to mark a place for building later....and nothing ever actually gets buitl
Ohhh I see. Thank you
you know what, true
Real
Yep
so most bases are just 1 base part
Yep
I have a base sitting practically unused but built because I found the planet to be remarkably earth-like
the next amount is about 10-15 pieces
Claimed and never built on
very few is using a lot
Hotspots, potential home bases, unique animal spawns ....all reason to think "one day....I will build here"
Never do
and there are people in here who maxed out their parts who then learn how to be more economical with base building than I am
yeah thats me
but for the most part its more like animals
and i actually use the hot spots
I always place down the bare minimum at least, a hab with a teleporter and some solar panels and a battery to power it
i do have one hot spot i didnt use that I wanted for building a bytebeat base
and never did
And then it joins the list of random bases I visit sparingly save for when I need some random resource from that planet
that might be me, im still learning how to build bases and after staring at it, the submarine base i did, it might have too many pieces, i built from 1370 u below sea level to the surface
1.4ku tall base is insane
I've been playing nomad for so long I just gotten into the habit of scavenging where I go. Snagging up whatever resources I can and hoarding for later or when I might need it
techinically are two bases, i was testing yesterday the boundaries of each one
i mostly live out of my freighter
Oh yeah, I do that a ton
A lot of it was too many base wipes back then. Just lost interest in it
Always buy every raw material at space stations too
My primary reason for expanding my inventory is just to always have at least one of every raw material on me
Currently need to expand a bit more to have comfortable room for components, but
easiest thing to do is to just build bases for mineral and gas extracting, so then you don't have to stock it
saves space
just build more storage containers
I do have the nomadic scavver vibe goin, but i do got a main base I warp to
Have yall been to that cool ass copper farm base in the expedition
I deleted a ski ball game that took me almost a month, exocraft tracks, couple pvp arenas. The biome and planet overhauls just ate them up.
But now things seem like they are here to stay. So I'm building again
most of mine look like this
same
Based nms
or also have a gas/mineral extractor with storage too
but basically same premise
but typically if i dont have a gas or mineral extractor, i dont even build a teleporter
well I have way too many bases to need mining at all of them
i just accept I have to fly to a space station to exit the system
saves on base parts
I do eventually gotta set up some auto mining bases
they should give us a true base reordering update. also do something about base screenshots because after a while they stopped appearing on new bases altogether
I do occasionally set up a manual mining base with the full intent to make it look good…….. and then promptly fucken don’t
Hi, has anyone completed Expedition 6 and, if possible, could you share a pirate flag with me, please?
i could probably delete some bases
I have multiple runaway mould farm bases
I dont need thata
just pick the best one and keep it
the only base i tend to share with people is my tornado planet base
has a cheap prefab set up that lets you see what happens when a tornado sucks you out of it
lol
Amazing
its a radioactive planet that has supercells
Why’s the game look better on my ps5 pro than my pc my pc is stronger?
I have specific bases for operations. don't need too many. I have about 10, large, developed bases, a bunch of little cabin things, and about 60 basic ones that are just outposts, with a base computer and TP.
Quite the "Frozen Anomaly" this planet is...
This one is a mould farm and ferrite and oxygen
inside pics
There's a bunch of small remote buildings as well for each of the resource collection points like the one below. above is just the hub.
there's a couple in that pic. I didn't notice the one in the background
( i cant post pics yet, but thats my submarine base just a caution: dont use the teleporters too fast cause are a bit buggy and you might end stuck if you take them very quickly)
found some really cool exotic worlds
pillar worlds are cool, got some stabalized glitches since i’m in unexplored unmapped space
Pillar worlds?
anomaly worlds
insert pillar men theme
I can’t fit one of the stabilized glitch fragments in my corvette sadly
found bubble, spine, pillar, I found the shell’d one with capillary one. I’ve collected some anomalous animals
how many cyclotron and how many phase beam turrets to put on corvette to get their max fire rate/turret?
I've wanted to make a floating base, do I just tower up far enough until I get to the point I want?
so im using an echo locator in 5 different Dissonance systems and not a single harmonie - is it that rare?
Goddamnit
Imma stop helping freighters from pirates if its not a dreadnaught at this point
Their damn property gets in the way of my firearms and makes my rep go down >:(

Just got a PlayStation and I fr have to spend 60 bucks to play again damn dude guess I can’t play for awhile was happy I had somthing that could run the game really good since my pc is crap
Imo staircases are the one of the hardest things to get "right"
We need auto snapping angles. That tick at like 5° increments. Instead of free spinning only
🧨
:D!!!
I'd make that a lot more with that kind of system since I can't trust myself with manual placement. it's like lego stickers all over again
lmao real
Just got this SC layout by random chance when upgrading :D
i can't trust a game without some kind of snapping grid
hence why i never do corvette interiors
Noice
It makes filling in the blanks easy though
meh
it'd be nice if it was a toggle
True that
you can but the range of the base computer is a dome, so the higher you go, the smaller the radius and it will cap out at 1000u at the highest point.
there are tricks to build higher and to build a base computer up in the air.
search for how to make NMS sky bases or something.
Alright, thanks man!
shot the interceptor I summoned with my defense chit and now I'm gonna fight them instead of this random vykeen pirate lmao
working on a new build, about halfway done
I GOT 100% ON STEAM WOOOO
Does anyone else wish they would add more trophies/achievements to the game
Achievements?
yes
Hell yeah, welcome to the club
i did it on ps a few years ago but i finally did it on steam
The easiest way still the computer animation when claiming a base.
Have enough material to build 4 landing pads and make sure parts are set to free placement.
Once claiming the base, the animation sends the camera up, as the camera gets lowered, start placing the landing pad.
Then find the landing pad that is within the planet limit (you aren't freezing), and claim a base at that height.
The process is pretty much that.
yeah. You can also just build up and then place another base computer and delete the old one and all the parts
if you want to be measured
Yup, I tried that first, it just took me forever to go beyond the 1000u 🤣
Still a valid approach also.
if you do it right, you can build a towering wall and fly up it with infinite jetpack, building the wall up ahead of you at the same time.
gotta be positioned just right though.
Trust me I know exactly how to play nms, I just do not care for the little things like the fishing
Why was that added?
We don't even require food
Food has buffs. Mining speed is good.
Good evening
I can imagine it was added because it will be in light no fire
perpetual cakes are a life saver for people who can't just make every jetpack slot supercharged at the flick of a wrist
A medieval age RPG isnt the same without fishing and cooking what you catch
Are you saying light no fire is a reimagining of nms ?
-# this feels like the third mention in under the span of a day atlas help me 🥲

this is great! Check it @waxen palm
I can't get enough of this mountain. Its amazing
That’s a hill.
Just a few years a go this mountain would be a big hill, a spike or a flat top plateau
beautiful mountain you got there
thanks just finished the front
The terrain variance and smooth slope changes is a noticable change from before
hg gib us lettering parts in game
It looks especially great at night, with that neon sign
I found a heavily mountainous paradise world that feels like flying through a valley constantly
doing it in my corvette may not be the smartest
Yeah. So steep you can hardly stand still if going down and taking fall damage if your not categul.
I like the alps
Day 6 of soaking in the luminescent water till I get superpowers
it had some reasonable mid level terrain and some open spots sprinkled around
i’ve had mountainous hellholes before this was actually quite reasonable
light no fire better not suck
we all know how this game went on launch
Im sure it wont
Mainly because they worked their ASSES off for free over the past decade to gain our trust back while also improving their game engine
for me , a game sucks when: 1:there's not much to do , 2:theres too much to do and no way to know how to do it overwhelming and tedious, 3: when its not long enough
You can thank sony for the rough launch
Now, the promises however
That was all sean
having too many things to do is just as bad as having not much to do.
But hes fulfilled everything hes said and more
OH MY GOD GIVE ME AN EXPLORERS GUILD STATION FFS
a game is fun when its possible to go at your own pace
and not tied to a limited time
*looks at expedition
Found my way to three new galaxies. What a day.
go farther. more than 500 ly
You can still play with expeditions(just not on consoles i think)
i feel the expeditions need to be permanent and optional
but if they were would anyone do them?
I did
no i meant if they were not time limited
Ehh. I like to blast through expeditions as quickly as I can.
You obviously underestimate the completionistd
just saying would anybody even do it if it was permanent
You know, youre a weird one
What was permanent?
"They should make expeditions be done at any time at will" and then your talking yourself out of it with "but would anyone do it then?"
no its a rhetorical question
i wish i could make npc's i spawn do things like sit or wave
tf is that
20TH JUMP AND NO EXPLORERS GUILD AAAAAAAAAA
Honestly I'd probably burn myself out if expeditions were available whenever I wanted. Already fairly addicted to the game (200+ hours), but could easily see myself spending a whole weekend just finishing every expedition and then never touching the game again lol.
burnout is real
Are you able to redo an expedition if you’ve already done it?
i dont leave the expedition world until the final day
even if im completely finished, why? build limits are gone in that mode
I am close to construction maximum on my main save
on there its a fresh start, without having to start completely all over
wish there was "new game +" where you can keep your technology but you start from begining of game
My problem with base building is i lack an eye for the aesthetic. My bases are spartan and utilitarian.
Will there be a sale on nms on PlayStation I just got one 2 days ago and have been wanting to play the game for so long on somthing that runs good and now that I have a ps I can but it’s 60$ which is wayyyy to much
i would totally start a new save if i got to keep certain stuff
You get to keep all expedition rewards
Are there any mods that expand your construction maximum?
Dude what are the fucking odds
that poor gek technichian still abandoned at the random base on a moon
Yup. I only keep a small number of bases myself as a place to either relax or gather specific resources.
This is like my 30th station and still no explorers guild
I seem to recall a 6000 item limit?
No I mean any ships
built 6k items
i was having the time of my life with the freedom to build things again , after my main save was locked out of continuing to build due to construction limit, did you know you cannot even edit your corvette if your build limit is reached
If i can redo breach i think I’m going to build a Fton of those corvette space locators and send them to the main save. If that’s allowed.
i like that instead of forcing me to do the tasks it lets you free explore and free play as if you just started a new save with "special conditions"
man was that fun
i mean it
Only thing i dislike about expeditions is i can’t run forever.
to be fair, i did shortcut my way thru unlocking all of the construction items
edited that back in
and in this one, i put my flagship from main account onto it
instead of that pos you start with
XD
Save editor?
yes
always
and mods
mods are quality of life improvements
and a test bed for my superweapons
I have died so many times to my own weapons, on purpose to test out the range, and lethality, oh and so i can see every single game-over quote
I found out how to make giant sails ingame
Now I'm going to make a pirate outpost, when I find a cool enough planet
some of the gameover quotes are funny as hell
Maybe that 91% paradise planet
Did you get the "I think I have a guardian idiot," one?
i got an albert einstien one
That one's by an author I met IRL once funilly enough
you know you fucked up when even einstien insults you
Spider Robinson
Fr
Or Oppenheimer
"My le bomb blew up thousands?"
most player deaths are due to thier own fault, and something that could have been avoided
you have to go out of your way to die in this
Albert Einstein "his le bombs will make us have war 4 wit le sticks"
Shroddinger "in all le head"
how much you bet that most deaths statistically are because of the geology cannon
Freud "mommy? Sorry. Mommy?. Parden. Momm-"
i named my multitool FAFO
Gravity has most imo
Turing "6...... 7?"
but your own weapons is one of them for sure
that or i just truly am a clumsy oaf who has an itchy trigger finger
i tend to shoot at wildlife, particularly trees and weird looking monsters, but who's the real monster? you, you invade a planet, and ravage it
i like that in this game , there are 0 consequences for your evil deeds
Standing with races go down
feel like killing an entire fleet of innocent geks? no problem, there's no laws, and the sentinels just forget about you too
That makes standing useless with no consequences imo
like there should at least be bounty hunters that will hunt after you, replacing pirates, theyd be like the pirates just different in name and dialoge, you can either pay them to go away, or fight them off
Could be much more
Like npc wont talk to you
Higher shop prices
Closed shops
Closed teleporter
Permament wanted lvl
Etc.etc.
something weird happened to me today when i flew my minotaur up to my flagship
it started firing at me with every single cannon
Mmm, you have been taken over
"that's not supposed to be there"
-telemon, probably
yes fire at your captain
the one who fixed your whole ship and feeds and fuels the ship, yes attack me
i mean would you attack a flying mecha that suddenly flew up to the ship?
Yeah
i modded to be able to do that
the mecha goes a lot faster and shoots faster, its like a gundam
Mainly because how did i hust get on this futuristic ship? Why is that mech flying towards me? Oooooh weapons panel

tbh gundam dangerous, i did destroy a capital ship while in it
i hate calling it by its actual name
i once tried to fly the mecha up to my ship, it took me ages, so had to do some tweaking to the .xml file and made a mod that increases the boost, stupid me for believing it could go inside the hangar bay
Who else builds elaborate bases, only to abandon them a short time later?
Chat's dead, but what do I expect, its midnight
What's the weekend QS mission?
Lifeform rescue i think
A new settler?!
there is a god!
Yeah like fish 2 legendary fish

Meow
Mrow

Not good
Splat
Err.... actually, no.
Oh sometimes travellers just get excited and do that, give em some time, its like the zoomies for em
Well that's your game now
No man's hover
Yes! Nice autophage fit
They exist
Its me
a guy was SPAWN CAMPING the last rondevu point
Im 95% black mold
and now ive lost ALL THE STUFF i was saving to take back ontto my main save
my grave is gone
Oof, i learned that lesson on spawn of one of the earlier expeditions
Now i turn off multiplayer during expeditions
or pvp
I had saved so many upgrades
I normally have pvp off, does it default to on when you do an expidition?
Sometimes yeh
Each new save
thats really annoying
I dont rage at games but this happening in a chill game like nms just makes me feel some anger, which is unusual for me
If you ask in #nms-lfg-or-trades im sure peeps will help you out on that
Hell, i could even give you my excess tech
nah its no big deal\
i was just saving the free upgrades for frieghters, ships and multitools
ill dm you a friend code
ill actually go do the same
Oh just send me your nms friend code
Ok. I am on expedition rn, not sure how that will work
Oh okok, finish that up and ill just help you out after youre done
you return to main game, do the trade then you can go back
Oh you can do that?
I know you can go to the terminal but like, i thought it was one way until you finished
yea, as long as you haven't finished the expedition, you can jump between the two saves.. assuming they used a main save and didn't create one just for the expedition
Oh yeah I saw that button
I did do that, I want stuff in my main save
then yer good to go. you switch to main from the game menu, where you restore the save game.
IIRC to get back to the expedition, you go back to the expedition terminal at the anomaly
Ill @ you when im done with dins
i got myself a sentinal star ship - how does that stack up for a newer player?
good enough for now, open for business
only problem is I need to use timber walls inside so the edges dont stick out, and timber only has glass doors, so you have an audience while you're poopin in the bathroom. smoke break then finish up some details
@wise osprey alrighty, ready whenever you are
Is it normal to be able to see 2 downed Sentinel ships at once? Even took a pic
Anything can happen
Exact same ship, rank, style and colors
Still eating, just a bit
Was on a bored rampage on a Dissonant world and boom
Well bored/farming materials to unlock damaged slots on my Sentinel Multitools
I think Chrystalized Hearts are the worst
Aye o7 just dm when your g2g
No men donuls
i go planet hopping and the first planet i fly into to check out is a huge tree chameleon lush with perfect weather and no color filter, thats wild
how stupid is it to keep re-rolling x upgrades until you get the highest possible stats for those in the game
as in, trying out over 40 of them or so
or more
s class (boltcaster) will only give you 48% rate of fire for anything while x class can give you 50% , thats two whole percent!
it matters in calculations
2 whole percent? Holy smokes
We're in business, boys
so i noticed that the people on the sub don't like it when somebody posts a hacked/modded weapon/ship/exocraft, you name it, unless its like glory to the lord 8k max resolution perfect shading blah blah blah, cus they are probably thinking to themselves like "I worked hard for mine , and this nobody over here just changed a few things in notepad and he got that , downvote lol"
yap over
like why does it matter how hard you worked, this isnt bodybuilding
unless it is
ok my take is terrible
I mean this nobody DID just write down in a diary that changed the universe
Downvote ⬇️
what?
Nothin im bein a shit lul
Could anyone give me a starborn?
a what?
Starborn runner ship
how?
Its code for sloppy
i can just give one of my saves....
and youll have everything
COULD
doesn't mean i will
Not everyone wants to edit their saves yutaka
if you make a new save and unlock the starborn runner, then you can sell it to an NPC and the other person can buy it
You go to a space station exchange a npcs ship with it then I buy it from the npc if you restart your game you should get it back
forget that
Not restart your game reload your save
I’m on console
Well HG is speedrunning another round of Redux expeditions, could just play through them til you get the starborn
the 18th
i'm sensing a pattern here
Oh Alr
lol
hey at least it was a learning experience, kind of
I learned that you can do more then just build houses that are 100 stories tall, even though that is literally what i did in the expedition world too
and this time , it was stairs and walls, not a ladder going straight up. because before it was just those circle buildings that have the ladder going up and down and you couldn't even get off at what floor you wanted to.
nobody asked
replying to myself
at least this game has any new people playing it , at all., don't let it die
This game is nowhere close to dying
Corvette had the highest player count since launch
Sure it may not be as popular as Genshin or something like that but I don't think it's like in a dying / rotting state
10+mil sold copies btw.
do guilds have a certain pattern with apperances in space stations?
It's one guild per region of and that region is marked on a system just select a system and expand it to see the details; it's usually R on Pc.
bk201 has a picture of it
#no-mans-sky message
nobody I know played it until one of my irl friends mentioned "hey remember No Man's Sky? well it's a lot better then it was years ago, cmon play it with me"
thanks!!
When dogfighting I like to hold S for autolock, but when I go against a dreadnought this is actually a pain sinc I can't break anymore. Is there a way to disable autolock for the dreadnought fight?
Only a way to disable it off, not specifically for the dreadnought fight
It should be in settings somewhere
yeah, didn't find anything either.
Lemme look for you
How are you doing it? I think remappin the auto lock would be an option.
I just turn it off completely. In controls, there is a option called "Starship Combat Auto-Follow" and I have set it to disabled
I just prefer being in full control of my ship instead of the auto pilot fighting for me. You dont need to copy me doing that I just prefer it because I like having all control possible especially in something like permadeath
🙂 thanks!
if you set Auto-Follow to Enabled(Toggle), you can use the E key to enable or disable lock-on when holding S
you can also cycle targets if you are using lock-on, using the , and. keys on PC.
Now whats going on here
is less laggy now, but nms kept crashing
eventually we ditched the plan to play nms
lmao not at all
Just wanted to speak my part is all.
Let's not send walls of text 🙂
Sorry 😞
Did you remove the messages?
Morrow lads
🧱 🧱 🧱 🧱
I was gonna type out "Text" with these but that would 100% trigger automod
just claimed my own Atlas station system only 5k ly from center of Eissentam. idk why but i always wanted an undiscovered Atlas system
I got to know on YouTube with some popular videos saying No Man's Sky is the greatest redemption story and yeah, they really pulled it off, but a lot of things and potential to achieve.
Our journey continues

PS: this is why whoever believes NMS will be discontinued after LNF releases doesn't know what they're talking about.
last night i mentioned how i just started a permadeath and my first distress signal ended up being an exotic
well i just got my second distress signal and it was an exotic
when changing from normal to creative will I be able to have all available corvette parts ready for building? also will then reverting from creative to normal mess with my save or change anything? asking because I have never changed difficulty since year 1 and this is my orginial save, I just lack the time to go hunt salvage parts and want to finally be able to finish my design idea
pretty sure you should be good
You'll have all but the expedition unlocks if you haven't got those parts. Reverting to normal settings after won't cause any problems you just won't get free building
Tasty
- LNF fills a completely different niche
NMS is about space
LNF keeps the vastness of NMS, but in heels
And its more fantasy focused
Thanks, I will try it out then.
Its a game where i'll likely build all sort of Cathedrals
Already did that in NMS but i'm curious what base parts we will have in LNF
Truly the Joan of Arc
my only hope is that NMS will continue to get its love and updates, even if not so often. I got used to have something new every couple of months, bad habits 😛
Hi. How do I unlock the number decals in building parts?

Fantasy medieval towns let's gooo 💞
HG is loaded enough to afford both dw 💖
Is the expedition still available?
for a couple of days. hurry
NMS taught HG a lot of things including valuable lessons about communication and project delivery... But I feel the pendulum fell too far the other way, considering the NMS Instagram is hardly active (not on Twitter for personal reasons), and we don't have any road map or future plans like most other games do.
Thankfully
I think roadmaps are a mistake for HG
They clearly impulsively add and do things
As for communication, NMS taught them that many gamers don't listen, they interpret
wish they had an impulse to fix numerous bugs that modders have fixed and kept updated for like 6 consecutive years
I feel like everyone could benefit from such impulse
Not helping consoles any with those, and I'm not feeling the lack tbh
That is true. But I do believe they must have had a plan of what they're planning to do.
I think of the other game I play — Euro Truck Simulator. SCS is also an indie studio, and they're pretty good with communication. Example they announce a year before about future content and they have some demo videos to go along with it so that what they show is what we get — no ambiguity or interpretation.
Of course they have a plan - and if they show something that then doesn't make it in time, we as a community would berate them
But doesn't the lack of communication also hurt them? I remember people going bezerk when the Corvette update was baking in the oven because they didn't know what to expect and started wild guessing.
I think they feel it's the lesser problem
people go nuts and spin wild theories over anything anytime really
the problem is keeping Switch 1 players in the dark
instead of informing them whether corvettes and related content are coming or not
There is no way Nintendo isn't part of the problem on this one, I shudder at the NDAs you have to sign
They could still say something tho
Yeah, that I feel was kinda a betrayal even though I don't play on the Switch. It's like you hear your dad bringing cake home, only to find out it's only for your siblings lol
they could smuggle a message in game files and hope people sniffling in those would find it
I remember when DTG lost the license for CalTrans and LNER on their DLC for Train Sim World, they outright said it openly. Granted they have several other issues and they did not even offer a discount since the official branding was gone, but there was communication.
They kept pet name My Little Sony for years before removing the file that contained it, nobody complained
I think they could start by having a person solely for communication. It's actually pretty rare (at least in the games I play) for the head of the company to be tweeting updates.
Example : in Euro Truck Simulator, the updates are released on the company accounts — Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. I have never seen Pavel (CEO of SCS Software) tweet anything on his personals.
What's the average employee total for the games you play?
Hint: over 300
400 for SCS Software
Yeah, HG is about 50 or maybe 60 tops
Wow, I thought they had more
With 3 currently published in house games, one published game for another dev, and at least one game in dev
In that case, a person solely for communication doesn't make sense
I assumed they were at least 200+ considering the scale of NMS
The price of being privately owned and making your own decisions
When NMS was released they had 12 I think? 6 for most of pre-release development
Then what the heck is Ubisoft doing with 20,000 people 😭😭
Exactly
Struggling
Abotu 4 or 5 years ago they even took a scythe to their administrative overhead, which I assume was already quite low compared to most companies
Tree
purdy
Giant broccoli
The rest of the Artemis path, pretty much (main story mission, not atlas path or space anomaly)
Then when you get sidetracked, go do that for a while, then come back and get sidetracked again
try asking in #nms-lfg-or-trades channel
or if you're on PC, you can use mods or save editors to get one yourself
there's an app you can get that will deliver items to you, like the expedition rewards
If you're talking about service bot, keep in mind expedition reward delivery service was moved behind the Patreon subscription paywall
Too many people flooded the game and the service after Voyagers update and brought it down
oh thanks
yeah but thats cheating and that kinda ruins the game for me
lol
aint no cheating in this game since its not a competitive experience
if you have your reasons not to use these options, that's fine
Im just letting you know other options exist in case initial plan doesnt work out
asking for someone to give you one is not cheating?
It is supposed to be a special reward.
This is so beautiful! Such a mood. I'm glad I opened the chat to see this inspiration. May be time to get back into photo-mode 📸
Yes please, more photos
That will be my mission today! Louvre worthy photo
is it possible to lower the threat level of a system?
nope
Makes me want a Fanta 😆
Buff boy
What...is... that?!?

Creepy
shoot it
I low-key love it though!
Same, I like the weird fauna
i think i sent an ewok into orbit today
Second mission today... find weirdest creature!
Can sum1 send me a link
To the media channel I can’t find it 💔

Cute
I wish we had the ability to do 'aggressive negotiations' like our frigates do on expeditions.
Been playing some halo lately, i start to feel the need to build something-halo again...
I love the scarab
If anyone wants a pet dragon, here they be
looks like a big ass spade from cards
Does lithium show up on when I scan from orbit?
Yep
ty
I name him Fug
guys I found a freighter thats not mine nor an NPC's in my game, with nobody around?
Well it's yours now
yeah but no npcs are in it
I have fixed my pc, I am no longer held down by the chains of Nintendo
I'm getting "Roaring Knight from memory" vibes from ur profile pic
It's my usual bacon soup can pfp but roaring knight
Is somebody missing the old art style from nms too ? Especially the Artstyle from the trailers
alr wbu
I'm living here now.
