A little tip: damage potential numbers are misleading. Test weapons in the field. If they are good there, that's what matters.

no, you just need to arrange your tech and upgrades. The placement of supercharged slots is also random draw. Some placements are better than others.

Damage Potential, for ships is Core Stat. Each weapon tech shows it's own DPS.
For multitools it's the primary weapon and all upgrades for it. IE if you have only one weapon type installed.
If you have multiple weapon techs then it stacks them, which is wrong.

they do negligible damage

They give the illusion of NPC teamates, during Starship Dogfights.
Illusion, because the Stars will die out before they kill anything.
They'll mostly get in the way of your shots and stuff.

You can talk to NPCs who land in Space Stations. You can offer to buy their ship or have them join your Squadron.

As Zycrom said, though. They look cool. Beyond that, they're useless.

you're still pretty early on in the game at this point, but eventually you'll want to unlock the Survey Device for your multitool and mineral extractors for your base.
This allows you to find actual hotspots (not deposits) for deep mineral extraction

Bit of a lore dump but...to my knowledge, there was only ever "phantom" stars, which you couldn't reach at all in game except for the handful that showed up in the Nexus weekend event season missions (before Origins update).
These were specifically in uncharted systems and back then we had "portal interference", which prevented the building of base computers and warping. Because they were uncharted systems, you couldn't use a monolith to find the portals, so players assumed the planets didn't have them. It was possible to find wild base computers and that was the only way players could return to these systems after the weekend mission event.

so if you build storage and delte it, and later rebuild it, all your stuff is there. but if you never build storage andcome across someone else's base and they have stroage and you put your stuff in it... then when you eventually build the same numbered storage containers, your stuff you put then will be in there, it's a great aystem

The one feature I wish they would add and I don't know how to ask them to do it. Would be as if you could make all of the bases across all of your saves accessible to all of your characters.

Here's a random thought, they've made food processors and refiners for raw materials. And the food processor for food to cook in the complex items. Why not make a low level of machining item to make spare batteries power cells warp cores things of that nature?

I heard it explained by scientist that if you could survive the gravity of the event horizon of a black hole that you could literally stretch one second into an eternity. I think Atlas is caught on the edge of the singularity which is why we're literally allowed to explore forever

Anybody know a better way to grind for salvaged freighter modules than charts and crashed freighter sites? Really want to get everything unlocked for my freighter, but this is the most grindy-est grind I've even run into in NMS. Went through 15 charts and only found 5 modules... Not a rewarding experience
