You can add items but there is caveats.
Only people with the same mods as you can see unique assets you are using. You would typically have to use some vanilla stand-in's so people don't see you just floating in your awesome invisible mod ship or w/e. If you want things to work seamless across MP for others, they must have all the same assets. Even if they don't work the same or look different for you.

Not sure if you got your answer but the way NMS determines indoors from outdoors is based on the volume of the space. a very big interior space will just seem like an outdoor area to the game. regardless of walls or roof.
Someone else here mentioned a max size of 5x5x2. I'm not sure exactly but that's about right.

early game probably best is to hunt sentinels and collect glass. you break the glass down and you get upgrade modules that you can sell for about 300 to 400 nanites each.

Not what you meant i know, but you reminded me. NMS should have boss camping (spawn timers) and unique collectible rewards from those boss fights.
I played a couple online games with that mechanic way back when and it was very rewarding. There'd be a boss that would only spwan like once every 2 weeks and there'd be 100s of players camping to try to get the kill so they could get the reward item. It made the rewards genuinely rare and hard to get.

Agree, but the value of rewards is directly proportional to the effort required to get them. Even for those people who just want to be lazy or just want the smorgasbord, even if they don't realize it. It also devalues the rewards for everyone when some people can just get everything with no effort. Part of the reason for collecting such things in a peer game is prestige.
IMO, it would be better if players were tagged with their style of play, so you can identify who did the grind and who just unlocked.

It doesn't anymore. It used to be that if you were in normal and you switch to creative, your game was locked into creative. And if you started creative, you could not just switch to normal.

The point was that the rewards are devalued.
I don't even hunt exotics for example. I done that already anyway, but I find it dry when everyone has all the same stuff and it just being a matter of time played.
I'd rather see a lot of players with unique stuff that makes me turn my head.

I used to play SecondLife and was a sandbox mod. We'd get a lot of griefers who'd come in and attack peeps, so we mods would fight back and often crash the griefers game on purpose or send them into flying into orbit for 15 minutes with our own griefer tricks. you can only rotate certain parts and it's pretty limited. You can't rotate the cockpit, it must be facing forward, to the front of the corvette
