Funny thing is that NMS is not actually that intensive of CPU or GPU. It's just superbly janked.
When every tweak requires shims to keep bugs at bay, eventually the shims amount to more code than the actual game mehcanics. and it's just a shitshow trying to make the gears mesh.

HG didn't actually make it. It is heavily customized but it is based on an opensource engine I forget the name of but the ancestry is clear from reviewing the game data, hacking at the code, the shader system and gfx pipeline they use.

When Echoes added capes back to Switch 1, HG kindly credited the 2022 redux capes to me. I played the expeditions, but didn't have access to the capes since Switch didn't have them at the time. HG back credited the capes to us.

Anyone else get the bug of your corvette reverting to a previous state? Mine seems to have gone back to how I had it back before the 2nd of this month. There's a derelict freighter near the intro planet that you can land on & explore without needing a scanner. FIRE & EXPLODE ALL THE PUSTULES & QUIVERING "NESTS" THERE. If you blast all the nests, nothing pops out of them & you get the living slime that you can refine into the moldy wire things & then refine those to nanites

It'll let you refine the moldy wire things after you warp out of the first system. And I got well over 1k nanites after clearing that freighter from all those

(pssssst -- the quicksilver NPC isn't on the anomaly, but you can still get prior expedition rewards from his station for free. I got the Atlas staff -- still limited in slots & without all my gear, but it was an A class & a damage upgrade, instead of the measily C class starter tool....which you can then destroy for units.)

It's counter-intuitive but there is a ring about 650,000 to 700,000ly from center, it's where all new players start, so it's actually fairly populated.
There are less players more in the middle range, like 300 to 400k
