yeh i highly reccoment getting an upgrade. since you already have nividia, the 50 series will be good for you. do remeber to keep dlss on thouhg because in terms of raw preformance the 50 series dont have that much. but if youhave more money go for the 40 series.

So 8GB for Ultra textures in NMS is going to induce some lag as textures are swapped in and out of GPU RAM on a 8GB card with textures set to Ultra.

Not all worlds will load up the 8GB in full, mind you.

But some will - like the on I am on now.

Off-topic, so I'll keep it short, but I wouldn't recommend 50 series for anyone -- especially if replacing a great card like a 1080. If it's still working, I wouldn't seek for a new one tbh.

Texture quality is JUST about the RAM on the GPU card. Everything else is to do with CPU power and/or GPU power at performing rendering and calc tasks.

VRAM is a loose term for RAM on the GPU. Video RAM. I hesitate to use "VRAM" becasue some years ago, VRAM (a special dual-ported RAM designed for extreme speed) vs DRAM on a gfx card was a big deciding factor. People now use VRAM as a general term for RAM on a GPU card, really. I am remembering days from the mid '90s, here.

several ways. for example someone with a modded corvette that has too may parts will make you lag or even crash when they join your area. I also like earning achievements, and showing those off. modded players can basically just enable "achievement earned". If I earn an achievement in the game, people might just assume i cheated if they see i have it. In the recent expedition, someone did something probably using mods that made some space stations literally inaccesible. you had to literally disable multiplayer to land in the station.

Pirate system, you don't "need" the freighter Galactic Scanner or the Conflict Scanner to find Pirate System, pirate controlled system will have this tiny skull attached to the economy instead of the stars.
