Figured it out! If I start modifying my corvette, and then just exit out without making changes, my maneuverability goes back up to 5.1k. So it appears to be a glitch caused by that.

For no reason in particular, I decided to take a one hour road trip across this paradise planet. The goal was to make it to a place where the planets rings were directly above me.

I travelled a total of 104 ks. I learned that the Nautilon is somehow faster on land than any other Exocraft.

For one half of the journey, I was just a crackhead zooming across continents with the Nautilon, bouncing off hills like ocean waves and weaving passed concerned lifeforms in their buildings.

The way to get exocraft to orbit is to spawn them there. It's possible to build summoning pads either on corvettes or freighters with mods or glitches
