It depends on how you play the game.
I just got a Class S Dreadnought freighter tonight, 37min but pure luck coz som folks take hours, I can jump on any system and summon the Minotaur from the freighter, I use Minotaur scanner a ton and on planets with extreme weather so I can explore without dramas.
My corvette cache is full of parts but I have so much fun with the sentinels ship, just flying low and slow finding crashed freighter, tons of exosuit pods, buildings, you name it, and the extra storage. I didn't know Sentinels site was a thing, I found it by accident like many things haha

I do not plan in getting a corvette any time soon, its size will make exploring the planets too dramatic IMHO.

Do you mean pulsing? It's best to avoid the stairs, but you can generally run about in the corvette during pulse.

So, first things first: I think the sentinel techs don't help the neutron cannon, only boltcaster (but I'll be gladly corrected on this).
Now, the number is pretty good. NC is all about the tech modules. The number in dmg potential increases for silly things that you wouldn't notice in practice, but are a factor in the calculation.

If you want to push above 100k, you may try other modules (aboslute pain: there are thousands and thousands of them) or try getting a better SC arrangement.
My personal opinion, as someone that tried to minmax this in the past: not worth it. The number you have now is way, way more than enough

Are settlements even worth putting much time into? Just started the quest line after like 30 hrs of play on my save and having done all the main storylines (artemis, autophage, purple stars etc). They just seem like a lot of hassle with the yields not looking great atm.

Settlements are a labor of love and effort. My C tier autophage settlement became B tier overnight because of all the crap I did to it yesterday, and it's *still, generating debt. I almost have it to where the debt is beginning to clear, though.

First there's the digging it out of whatever debt it's in phase, which consists of upgrading buildings and managing the settlement, which can take like.. lessee.. I've been working on this one settlement.. maybe 26h now and am almost to the point where the debt is beginning to clear... then you gotta wait for the debt to go all the way down to zero, which I imagine you could speed up by further upgrading production buildings for increased revenue.

New production buildings will usually always use more money than they make, but upgrading them immediately tips this scale.
