you can pull from cargo from anywhere in the universe but you can only access containers while its in the same system

you cannot go to a different galaxy using a portal, but you can travel anywhere within a galaxy using glyphs at a portal. In that screenshot, you still need to charge up each glyph before you're able to input a coordinate

Fuel up completely, and then there should be a path pointing into the center. Don't click out of the system you're in. Be warned, it'll destroy like every piece of tech on you. The journey will shred your Starship, your Multitool, and your Exosuit tech. Store what you can or drive a burner ship through.

Ahhh, yeah. It's a warpdrive compatability thing, not a fuel thing. You gotta research and install at least an indium drive to bring your freighter in.

I think its a fairly new thing.
When you complete it you learn the blueprint for a technology for your freighter that lets you warp to any star system but the game doesn't tell you lmao

Assuming Sodium, it's used in a lot of stuff. Also it keeps your hazard protection topped up. But it's also very plentiful as you go do, and it's not highly valuable.
