You can try to find (or now build) the prettiest ship, do a roleplay, get rich with trading (or one of the many other ways), build bases yada yada yada...

Whatever brings you the better stats one the right side of the menu, but - in my experience at least - for weapons, most of the time you'd want to put the weapon/tool itself on the SC slot.
Play around with it a bit though :).
Oh and also mind adjacency bonuses if you don't know about that already

If you are having issues with your save getting altered, corrupted, or deleted maybe try playing with cloud saves disabled for a bit to make sure it's not that causing the issues.

Something you should always keep in mind with any major game like nms when there is updates there is bugs it is damn near impossible to avoid bug or crash issues when it comes to new updates we are only human and we can't catch everything when we are coding there is factors that can happen that have to be discovered by the community or developers once finished in order to patch it because we can't find everything during coding so in short yes it's pretty common

I’m so confused by the corvette editor sometimes dawg, my maneuverability plummeted to 97, so I flew all the way back to the space station to edit it, and it was back to normal as soon as I landed. 😭

Definitely some bugs with them right now. I had an issue where anything in my ships refiner would disappear and the output replaced with a “final dish” or whatever when it’s an unknown cooking recipe. I can’t change the output so I have to rebuild the refiner each time

I believe Switch 2 is about as much as a steam deck, and a steam deck is infinitely better in what you can do with it afaik

This update is amazing but they could’ve found bugs like this within, like, an hour of playtesting. I found another where if you edit your ship in-flight while on a planet (?) your third person camera when you get back in the cockpit will be miles above you.
